Yacht Bay, Dubai Marina

About Yacht Bay

It is very difficult to beat sailing in the Gulf with its warm offshore breezes and stunning turquoise waters, the endless miles of safe, scenic coastline and abundance of tropical marine life. Traditionally, most sailing has been done by the graceful Arabic Dhows. But these days a faster, more modern, more international marina culture has come in. Dubai Marina is at the core of this and Yacht Bay offers the quintessential yachting lifestyle.

With 174 beautiful apartments with amazing views of Dubai Marina Yacht Club, Yacht Bay combines a lifestyle that revolves around a passion for the open sea with a convivial community where your neighbors would not be strangers at all. It is a close knit sailing community where great friends share their dreams, and converse to the tapping of rope against the mast.

Furthermore, Yacht Bay is part of the over all Dubai Marina development. There is a bustling, urban waterfront just across the way.

It is indeed located within walking distance to some of finest 5 star hotels in Dubai.

For the passionate sailor or simply those who love the yachting lifestyle, Yacht Bay is the ultimate quayside address.

Shopping Areas

Dubai Marina Mall offers you the best of the big malls right in the heart of the Marina , it is a modern shopping and lifestyle destination for residents and visitors of the Dubai Marina community. With more than 130 outlets and a gross leasable area of 390,000 sq ft spread across four levels, Dubai Marina Mall features a retail mix of high street fashion brands, aspirational boutique fashion, al fresco waterfront dining, a supermarket and a good entertainment offer. The 5-star Address Dubai Marina Hotel is directly linked to the mall.

IBN Batutta Mall is the next to mega-mall to Dubai Marina--not at the Marina itself but (across Sheikh Zayed Road) within sight of some of the towers. It is described as 6 malls in one, each having a different theme--China, India, Persia, Egypt, Tunisia, Andalusia.

TRAILHEAD INFORMATION

The Richmond Marina provides access to the Richmond Shoreline and beyond, with sweeping views of the Bay Bridge, Brooks Island, San Francisco, and Angel Island in the distance. The Marina provides a protected launch and Marina Inner Harbor Basin provides an ideal location for paddling that is sheltered from the winds.

A concessionaire, 510 Waterline, offers SUP lessons and equipment rentals.

Boat Facilities

Boat launch facilities consist of an ADA low-freeboard dock with a kayak assist and two SUP handrails. The Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) constructed the ADA launch in 2018. This facility also includes a kayak staging area, ADA gangway, transition plates, and kayak roll-bars with a transfer system.

There is also a corrugated cement boat ramp and two high-freeboard docks for larger craft. The Marina offers public boat storage for $30/month for outside storage and $40/month for inside storage.

From I-580, take the Cutting Boulevard / Harbour Way South exit and turn onto Harbour Way South. Follow the round for approximately 1 mile then make a left onto Hall Avenue. The Marina is located at the end of Hall Avenue.

The 74 bus line stops at Regatta Boulevard and Marina Way, approximately 0.8 miles from the Marina.

Ample paid parking is available at the Marina. Currently parking is $10 for 24 hours or $20 for 48 hours, which can be paid at an electronic kiosk. There are also four free Public Shore parking spaces in the business park lot next to the marina.

ADA restrooms with running water are located near the top of the boat ramp.

Marina Bay provides a variety of nearby amenities including boat storage, a boat washdown area, restaurants, walking paths, benches, and restrooms.

Accessibility

The recently constructed kayak launch has been designed to meet ADA standards, with a wide gangway, transition plates, transfer seat, and paved path of  travel.

The shoreside facilities include a variety of accessible facilities, including a path of travel (not marked), sidewalks, restroom, and parking that all appear to be ADA accessible and well maintained.

Safety Tips

This launch is used primarily by motorized boats and can get crowded on weekends, so care needs to be taken to avoid user conflicts. Motorized boats and sailboats are regularly moving throughout the marina, particularly near the mouth of the marina. In addition, large ships utilize the Santa Fe Channel, located to the west of the Marina, so small non-motorized boats need to take caution to avoid these vessels.

There is a 300-foot security exclusion zone around the Chevron Long Wharf, located 3.5 miles northwest of the Marina.

The Harbormaster is onsite daily between 9AM and 5PM.

Wildlife Tips

Brooks Island is located approximately one mile offshore from the Marina. Brooks Island hosts 18 species of nesting birds, including herons, gulls, and terns. Brooks Island is also home to a secondary harbor seal haul-out site. Access to Brooks Island is only allowed seasonally on the western sandspit of the Island or as part of a scheduled East Bay Regional Park District naturalist tour. Trips to Brooks Island can be scheduled through EBRPD Reservations Department.

The Albany Mudflats Ecological Reserve / State Marine Park, an important feeding ground for a variety of shorebirds and waterfowl, is located approximately 2.5 miles to the southeast.  The Albany Mudflats are extremely shallow during high tides and large mudflats are  exposed at low tides. Due to the potential to get stranded and for sensitive habitat considerations, paddlers are not allowed to enter this area.

To that end, we constantly strive to meet or exceed expectations and are always open to suggestions on how to serve our boating friends better.

The design of Bohemia Bay satisfies the needs of today’s active boating families. Here you will enjoy all the amenities of a full service, modern marina resort.

Distinguishing Bohemia Bay from most other marinas around the northern Chesapeake Bay is the fact that we offer condominium slips , slips you actually own, as well as slips you rent.

Bohemia Bay from Air and Sea

Back in 2015 a retired couple and friend of Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbour recorded this brief video which offers a glimpse of our marina from both air and sea. This couple maintains the “ Vagabond Epicurean ” YouTube channel.

This video highlights the overall layout of our marina, particularly the approach from the Bohemia River. Although we have made numerous improvements since 2015, what both slip owners and renters truly rave about are our amenities.

Bohemia Bay Virtual Visit

Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbour’s impeccably maintained property covers numerous acres, much of it wooded. The remainder is devoted to all sorts of recreational activities, slips, moorings and mechanical shops.

To get a better appreciation for all we have to offer, we suggest that you make a virtual visit by viewing our gallery.

powerboat in slip

Bohemia Bay is home to all types of powerboats ranging from bowriders to sedan bridges and everything in between. While their capabilities reflect an owner’s interests, one thing all owner’s share is their love of boating on the Bohemia River and far beyond. Consider buying a slip.

picnic area overlooking the Bohemia River

Nature and Recreation

Bohemia Bay offers more than just great access to the Bohemia River. Our marina is situated on the far side of a large wooded area which is also part of our property. In fact, upon entering our property you must still travel another 3/4 of a mile before our slips come into sight. Consider scheduling a visit.

sailboat in slip

Bohemia Bay is home to a large number of sailing vessels. This is probably due to the somewhat sheltered nature of the Bohemia River and our marina itself. Of course, more sailing vessels means more opportunity to learn from others who share your passion. Consider renting a slip.

I was at my best friends place for the weekend. We were supposed to head down to Duck Key in Florida to visit my brother but had to cancel because the Delta variant is really bad there, the government is a bunch of idiots! Anyway I decided to at least go to my friends who is in your "bubble" of vaccinated people. She was trying to find fun activities for us to do during my 3 day visit. She had sent me prices for a pontoon rentals and I was a shocked! I grew up on and around all types of boats and water crafts my entire life so she knew this would be fun! We were going to do a lot of boating/ scuba diving, lobster trapping ect. on our trip. My girlfriend took me to the marina so I could check it out...this was fun but I was cracking up at the prices they were charging...It was super hot out so a pontoon would be a long hot trip. The boats I saw for rent had a 60 HP motor...This is a total putt putt as far as I'm concerned, I definitely have the need for speed! It was a nice marina and had a large storage area for boats. I always get a kick out of boats names and where they originated from. There were some old dogs with fleas for sure! LOL! They had a couple of small boutiques with touristy stuff, boat shop, and the harbor masters office. I was impressed with the overall cleanliness of the property. This complex that my friend lives in has a championship gold course, harbor and a nice country club. It's pretty nice over there in Discovery Bay. I actually was looking at a home on the water while I was there, but I'm not a fan of the delta at all. It's actually very dangerous for water skiing and such...if it was directly on the bay then that would be a different story all together. The only negative thing for me is it's a gated community! My husband and I agree that we just detest this. When I arrived on Thursday around noon, I had to wait for no reason for a van parked in front of me at the gate. There is supposed to be someone there 24/7.

If I could give them a negative star, I would. I don't know about now, but a couple of years ago maybe 2021, this place was a Scandal. If you stored your boat here monthly, they would add erroneous charges to your account regularly. Pam, the "accountant" would also like to add launch fees even when you didn't launch your boat. I had the account placed on auto pay, yet every month we had to constantly do an account reconciliation! Why!? That's because Pam would even mess the auto pay up by not withdrawing the payments on time and then she would do several months at once without even any notification. This is not ok. We went to the Harbor Master at that time but it's like he was too scared or incompetent to help. We also met a couple people who had the same experience. It was my understanding that they did some restructuring, and hopefully they got rid of the corrupt staff that was there, but in the meantime, be very wary and check your bills at the very least. Especially if you don't live there because they think you wont be coming into the office as much. That is what they don't want. They tend to hit out of towners way more. Good Luck!

Poor Management, a Scandelous accountant and a general disregard for their customers, is what you can expect from the Yacht Harbor here at Discovery Bay. We have been storing our Sanger boat here on and off for the better part of 10 years now. But after this last go around with their incompetent account lady, Pam, we've had enough. After being consistently overcharged with late fees and erroneous boat launch fees we went to the Harbor Master personally to make our case. He refused to even look at the proof we brought in. And when asked pointed questions, stated that he had already answered them. What started the whole thing was that in 2020 we were on auto pay with them for our monthly storage fees. They are supposed to be automatically deducted from our account. I guess Pam didn't do that for a couple of months time all the while adding on late fees etc. So when she finally realized it, without warning she hit our account for over $700 dollars! When I called in to complain, she stated that she had every right to do that since the account was in arrears. When I explained to her that it shouldn't be in arrears because we had automatic withdrawal enabled, she simply threw a fit and turned things into a big scene. We should have sued them right then, but wait it gets worse. After that I removed them from the auto pay and started making their payments myself. At this point, she would receive the payments and not post them right away and sometimes not at all. We were constantly having to reconcile the account with her. Not once but three separate times! The last time however, she simply lied to us and my bank representative who was also on the 4 way phone call with her. She stated that she was in error and the account would finally been corrected to reflect a zero balance. But not one month later had an outstanding balance again. The problem Pam faced was that this phone call had been recorded, and my bank rep was sweet enough to offer up her own testimony to help us stop this manipulative woman from getting with ripping off the customers. Once more however, the Harbor Master wanted to take no action. He even refused to listen to the recorded call we had! We realized it was a lost cause. So we gave notice and moved out. I then looked them up online to find out who the owner was in case I wanted to sue them, but instead found out that their business license was dissolved! What a mess! Side note: We met some neighbors who also had their boat stored there in the dry stacks who actually told us they had the very same problem with miss Pam and also moved out of there! In hindsight, if you are to store your boat there, make sure you don't give them ACH auto pay permission or you might be sorry, and check your monthly bill, (if you can actually get one) for all those extra little charges she likes to add onto your account, but whatever you do, don't trust them to be ethical or you'll find yourself overpaying by hundreds of dollars for boat storage. All the while they continue to "Redflag" your boat and not let you take it out or use it while you are reconciling your account. They ruined 3 weekends at least for us with these tactics, including Mother's Day weekend. And then they try and hold your boat hostage and lien it, forcing you into paying. It did cross my mind that maybe they refused to look into it because they are all in on it. Who knows! Pics below are what we actually owed, and what the actually charged us to get out. Thieves!

Beautiful marina located on delta in Discovery Bay. Boat launch, shops and dry storage.

This place could be nice if owners were nice! They are entitled and rude! They got in over their heads. Very unfair and no ethics!

Although this is an older post...Can you share your experience with boating from our marina, so we may use it for future staff training. -HarborMaster

It's a beautiful marina! Easy to "park" at. Lovely environment!! We look forward to returning!

Horrendous! If you love waiting 45 minutes to launch or land your boat, this is the place for you! The prices went up to $30 a launch. They allow unexperienced boaters to launch taking 15-20 minutes each. They will have 5-8 people working on the dock, and "due to liability" they won't help the people that clearly need help. When their dry stack ramp is not in use they will sometimes allow others to use the ramp, but you basically have to beg someone. Yesterday was the final straw for us. We will be launching elsewhere from now on. If I was the owner, I would hire someone to run dock operations, streamline efficiencies and take a good look at my staff that stands around getting paid to do nothing.

Great place to get gas when boating in the delta, they have many fun events all summer long here, like the poker run, music concerts, etc .The guys on the boat dock are always willing to help you tie up the boat. Also a fun place to paddleboard around the marina. Great job !!

NEVER AGAIN. Methinks they need to work a bit on their ethics. Sure, they're fine when they've got you by the short hairs. Your boat's in dry stack, they charge you monthly in advance and it's only $10 every time you go to launch. The trouble starts when you remove your boat from their tender care. That's when you ask for your money back after they charge your credit card for storing a boat that has been gone from their facility for a month (note: it takes them NO TIME to AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD) but when they charge you for services not rendered they give you a song and dance about how the corporate office needs to send a check. Never mind that 30 days after your boat is IN ANOTHER STATE they're still hanging on to your money. Our boat left their facility on August 3, 2016. They billed us on September 1 for rent. Where's our refund? And if you call, you get to talk with Christian (nice enough fellow, but he can't help you) and refers you to Pam, who is less than cordial, less than helpful but pretty darn arrogant. And she seems to think it's okay to use customers as a bank while they sit on your refund, happily telling you she's finished with this conversation.

Photo of Phil M.

STAY AWAY ! I kept my boat here and regretted it everytime i came to get my boat. The storage they provide is next to a dusty dirt farm. Your boat is not protected at all. My boat was covered in dirt, spider webs, and wasps nests evrytime. Disgusting. They stole my life jackets, fire extinguisher, ropes, etc. Obviously this was the workers. Not to mention they raise the rate without telling you. Ya its cheap storage, but you get what you pay for.

'A cataclysmic mess': Is anyone to blame for the state of the San Leandro marina?

A ug. 26—While 8 a.m. on a weekday might entail groggy commutes for many San Leandro residents, Eric Shields and Jennifer Crowell recently spent a frenzied morning scrambling to store their personal belongings somewhere safe amid rumors of looming evictions and arrests near Marina Park.

The couple have lived for months aboard a boat docked at the Wes McClure Boat Launch near the once-vibrant marina.

RELATED: At just 7 years old, he lives in a tent in a San Jose homeless encampment and wishes he had a microwave and a shower

Map of San Leandro marinaNow they and other "anchor-outs" may be forced to leave as San Leandro grapples with how to manage its shoreline amid stalled development plans and complaints from residents that the waterfront has devolved into a debris-filled, chaotic mess. Compounding the challenge is the fact that housing costs in the once-affordable East Bay city, as in the rest of the Bay Area, have ballooned in recent years.

In mid-August, the city's public works department posted notices at the boat launch saying officials would soon remove bicycles, propane tanks and other debris that was blocking the public right of way. A public outcry specifically targeted boat dwellers living in the area, in violation of city policy, and the way their belongings spilled onto local paths and docks.

"We knew this day was going to come," Shields said.

For longtime San Leandro resident Erica Moore, enforcement of municipal codes in the area is a step in the right direction — even if she has concerns about the city's management of the marina area.

While she sympathizes with boat residents like Shields and Crowell, Moore thinks the San Leandro shoreline has changed from a "beautiful area of the city" into "a place that makes me sad and frustrated every time I visit," she wrote in an Aug. 7 letter to city officials.

Moore, who frequents the area with her dogs, said she has felt increasingly unsafe and frustrated with the city's lack of upkeep at the waterfront. With its green spaces, walking paths, golf courses and safe waters, San Leandro's unique shoreline could be an amazing asset to the city, Moore said. But since January, when the city shuttered the marina, Moore has noticed growing piles of trash, aggressive pets and an increase in homeless residents — including on the water, in roughly half a dozen seemingly unseaworthy boats.

Over the past year, she said, a wooden dock near the abandoned Spinnaker's Yacht Club has accumulated trash bags and miscellaneous items. Near the Marina Park parking lot, a partially capsized boat lays sideways on the rocks with the hull facing the pedestrian path.

"It looks like the city has abandoned the area," she said. "It looks like they just don't care."

San Leandro spokesperson Paul Sanftner wrote in an email to the Bay Area News Group that the boats are docked in violation of city policy and that the city is developing an ordinance to change anchoring in city water "from merely against city policy to against the law."

The city Police Department does not have a marine unit and a police officer told a reporter that while they do patrol the marina daily, they do not patrol the water.

Moore and other residents say they are frustrated with the city, not boat residents like Shields and Crowell.

"They just have to keep moving and they have nowhere to go," she said.

The challenges at the marina have been on the city's radar since 2005 when the city determined dredging the 462-boat marina — a process that ensures safe entrance and exit into the San Francisco Bay — became too costly. In 2008, the city partnered with Gardena-based Cal-Coast Development to plan for massive redevelopment of the San Leandro shoreline area. Initial plans for the Monarch Bay Shoreline Development Project — including restaurants, shops, office space, housing and more — were submitted to the city in 2012, with potential construction start dates projected for 2016, the Bay Area News Group previously reported.

But a lawsuit and pandemic-related delays stalled the project. The city officially closed the marina in 2023 and blocked the entrance earlier this year, but major development, while planned, has yet to begin. Sanftner acknowledged the marina is "in disrepair."

The city removed remaining boats in late January and early February, displacing some anchor-outs to the nearby Small Boat Lagoon or — in Shields and Crowell's case — out into the bay.

The city offered cash assistance to help residents repair their boats and leave the area, Sanftner said, and funded temporary motel stays.

"The city's policy is to treat everyone with respect," Sanftner said.

Boat residents don't see it that way, complaining the ousting came during a spate of stormy weather caused by historic atmospheric rivers.

"It was degrading," Crowell said. "They didn't care."

A boat they had been living on sank with many of their belongings, including government documents and keepsakes like Crowell's son's baby teeth, aboard, they said.

"It all turned into a cataclysmic mess," local homeless advocate Melissa Moore (no relation to Erica Moore) said.

By April, the couple was back, staking claim to another abandoned boat. While the city has offered berthing assistance for the boats to relocate, that requires proof of insurance and registration, which poses a financial challenge for the couple. Shields and Crowell would also have to apply for live-aboard status to occupy their boat full time.

"They just found a thriving community in the marina, down at the decommissioned boat docks, and they were really doing well," Melissa Moore said. "They weren't trying to be anything other than just living."

For many, the most frustrating part is that it appears the city did not need to close the marina so early. The city, which said the marina was closed because it had fallen into disrepair, has not specified exactly why it failed to maintain the area.

In February, Cal-Coast defaulted on a portion of the Monarch Bay Shoreline development, the Bay Area News Group previously reported. The developer purchased the 15.9-acre portion of land using a $24.9 million loan that it received from the city of San Leandro itself.

According to Sanftner, the Cal-Coast legal entity that defaulted on the loan filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June, and the city anticipates that the bankruptcy process, which allows companies to restructure their debt, will last at least nine months.

"Presently, city staff has been in ongoing coordination with Cal-Coast on efforts to obtain permitting approvals and continue to do so during the bankruptcy process," said Tom Liao, the city's community development director, in an email shared with the Bay Area News Group.

Melissa Moore finds it difficult to understand why the marina was closed if the development has stalled and "nothing's going to be done with the marina for quite some time."

"For what, San Leandro?" Melissa Moore asked. "For what? To get a beautiful view out your window at the cost of taxpayer money (at the) cost of people's lives being traumatized over and over again?"

While Erica Moore supports the city's recent enforcement of municipal codes, "a really great place for them to start right now is finding somewhere for these people to go legally and not just saying 'you have to move,'" she said. "I just hope that they do it the right way for the people who are living there and the people who want to be able to use the marina."

8 Yacht Clubs and Marinas in the Philippines to Moor Your Boat In

Yacht Clubs and Marinas

FoodfindsAsia.com | 8 Yacht Clubs and Marinas in the Philippines to Moor Your Boat In | Filipinos’ history as a maritime people date back to prehistoric times. In fact, the Philippines’ basic sociopolitical unit today, the barangay, traces its etymological origins to the balangay , the ancient outrigger boats that were used by precolonial Filipino communities to explore and conquer islands this side of the Pacific. As a people belonging to a seafaring culture, it’s no wonder that modern Filipinos are taking a retrospective look at their glorious past as Austronesian mariners and are developing a renewed love for the ocean and marinas as present-day yachtsmen.

Today, Philippine marinas look to accommodate more and more yachts and other pleasure watercrafts as the years go by. In 2017, an ASEAN Briefing op-ed piece named the Philippines as a country with high potential in yacht industry growth. The natural beauty of the Philippine islands and its fantastic bays, combined with a growing interest in leisurely sea travel, can explain the spike in yachting activities throughout the country.

Are you part of the demographic that’s become enamored of the yachting lifestyle? Do you want to know where in the country you can berth your watercraft? Leading sailboat and motorboat authority Europa Yachts is happy to enter the conversation, and recommends the following locations for discovering the Philippines through yachting. Here is a short list of clubs and marinas in the country, organized by island region.

Manila Yacht Club and Marina, Manila, Metro Manila

Established in 1927, the Manila Yacht Club and Marina is one of the oldest yacht clubs in all of Asia, and is nestled in the scenic Manila Bay. It is also near other well-known landmarks in the city, such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the headquarters of the Philippine Navy, and the US Embassy. Facilities in the marina include a launching ramp and a fueling center, and the club itself is host to a restaurant and gorgeous function rooms. The Manila Yacht Club only welcomes visitors who arrive by boat, and it charges an initial security deposit of USD 750 upon arrival. Club membership is mandatory for medium and long-term mooring of boats.

Subic Bay Yacht Club, Zambales

The Subic Bay Yacht Club, which was founded in 1998, upholds itself as the country’s premier yacht club. It operates in the deepest bay in the country, and can host vessels well beyond 50 meters in length. Already benefitting from the innate beauty of the Zambales mountains surrounding it, the club hosts a number of other attractions, including its luxury accommodations, swimming pools, and its own movie theater, bowling alley, and nightclub. Those who venture outside of the club’s premises can also shop for well-priced imported goods at the Subic Freeport Zone, engage in water sports , or sign up for diving excursions.

Punta Fuego Yacht Club, Batangas

Peaceful Punta Fuego is a mecca for those who love the sport of sailing. As per its official website, the Punta Fuego Yacht Club aims to serve “a dynamic and vibrant community of boat enthusiasts and yacht owners.” This it does by playing host to a diverse population of watercrafts, from large catamarans and mono-hull yachts to small boats. Non-members of the club may use the berths for up to 3 weeks, and can refuel at the marina’s fueling station. The yacht club offers other amenities such as locker rooms, shower rooms, Internet facilities, a chart room, and a restaurant called Barracuda Bar, which serves delicious fares. Outside of the yachting crowd, Punta Fuego Yacht Club also caters to those wishing to celebrate weddings, conferences, and corporate events in their opulent quarters.

Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Oriental Mindoro

Further south, yachtsmen may moor at the Puerto Galera Yacht Club in Oriental Mindoro, an island location that’s home to tourist attractions like the Sabang Wreck dive site, lively beachfront resorts, and the Malasimbo Music Festival. Puerto Galera Yacht Club has been in operation for almost thirty years and lends services such as refueling provisions and yacht repairs from its marina. Boat owners also enjoy optimal convenience if mooring here, as they can also shop for spare parts in the nearby Batangas port.

Busuanga Yacht Club, Puerta del Sol Bay Marina, Palawan

Beautiful Palawan is a bucket-list destination for many, especially those who dream of cruising its crystalline waters. Accommodating the yachting community in this island province is the Busuanga Yacht Club, which promises secure mooring amidst breathtaking white-sand beaches. Here, each vessel will benefit from a typhoon-safe harbor, easy refueling, and direct access to transportation hubs like the New Busuanga Airport. Adjoining this marina is the Puerta del Sol Bay Resort, which offers luxurious accommodations to visitors. When not atop the deck of a boat, travelers can also explore the lagoons and freshwater lakes of Coron, go shipwreck diving, or relax in the hot springs of Maquinit.

Iloilo Sailing Club, Arevelo, Iloilo City, Iloilo

Iloilo Province is home to some of the country’s most beautiful old-world architecture, a flourishing ecotourism industry, and delectably fresh seafood cuisine. What will round off an unforgettable visit to Iloilo, however, is an excursion to the Iloilo Sailing Club on a leisure watercraft. The club accepts visitors and encourages membership in the case of medium and long-stay mooring. It also hosts a number of amenities and activities, including a dinghy storage, a beach bar and restaurant, and classes for those who want to learn about sailing. In recent months, the Iloilo Sailing Club has also been a convenient meet-up point for big maritime events, such as the Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta and the Seafarers’ Job Fair.

Cebu Yacht Club, Mactan Island, Cebu

The historic Mactan Island in Cebu was the site of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan’s arrival in the Philippines. Now known as a commercial hub that hosts a prolific furniture and musical instruments industries, Mactan is also the location of the Cebu Yacht Club, an institution that is beloved by the locals. Aside from being an ideal spot to restock on much-needed fuel and supplies, the Cebu Yacht Club is also a trusted club to commission for boat repairs. There’s a good vibe in this club for everybody, as it sports both luxury accommodations and a waterfront strip of restaurants that laid-back diners can frequent. MINDANAO

Holiday Oceanview Marina, Samal Island, Davao del Norte

The Holiday Oceanview Marina is a major attraction of Samal Island in Davao del Norte Province, one that welcomes Filipino and foreign yachtsmen alike to moor within its premises. The space is quite roomy, in fact, with 56 berths that can fit vessels up to 15 meters in length. The club also has a boat ramp that can accommodate boats up to 18 meters in length. The well-guarded and weather-safe marina is a gateway to some of Mindanao’s finest attractions, such as the Pearl Farm, Hagimit Falls, and Giant Clam Sanctuary.

There’s no better way to discover the Philippines from end to end than getting onboard a seaworthy vessel and going on a long cruise, with stops in some of the most beautiful places in the country. Find a safe harbor in any of these major clubs and marinas, and participate in the renaissance of sailing in the Philippines.
