Paris Boat Show Returns with New Name, Location, and More

The Federation of Nautical Industries (FIN) announced Nautic en Seine , a reinvention of the Paris Boat Show that was hosted in the Porte de Versailles. Nautic en Seine will take place over six days, from October 15 to 20, 2024. The departmental nautical park on the Ile de Monsieur and Port Legrand in Boulogne Billancourt, France , have been chosen to host the new show.

The show’s new sites can accommodate up to 150 boats in the water, 80 boats on land, and 8,500 square meters of exhibition space on land. Equipment manufacturers, engine manufacturers, rental companies, and more will be attending the show, while local clubs will display nautical leisure activities like gliding and dinghy sailing.

Specially chartered river shuttles will be made available to attendees coming from Paris or Hauts-de-Seine, while traditional transportation like metro, bus, or car can be used to reach the show as well. Electric-powered shuttles will connect the show’s two sites.

The change of location comes after FIN, the show’s organizers, canceled the 2023 edition of the show. FIN previously launched a vast consultation of the attractiveness of the old indoor show model at the 2022 Paris Boat Show.

“Investing in these new sites, combined with active collaboration with elected officials from Hauts-de-Seine, will help us increase our attractiveness both nationally and internationally,” said Fabrice Lacoume, vice president of FIN.

Paris Boat Show reinvents itself as "Nautic en Seine"

The boat show at Porte de Versailles is now giving way to "Nautic en Seine", at the end of a process of collective work, during which several dozen workshops brought together 250 professionals at the beginning of the year.

"A true introspection, this work has enabled us to establish a diagnosis and share ideas for the future, with players in the French nautical sector from all professional horizons: equipment manufacturers, engine manufacturers, builders, services, marine and river rental companies, board sports, light sailing, territories... It was therefore a collective decision to maintain a show, an event that enables the French boating industry to reach a large and qualified number of enthusiasts never seen at other major boat shows. With a strong national presence, the Paris Boat Show is a showcase for French and European know-how. Investing in these new sites, combined with an active collaboration with the elected representatives of the Hauts-de-Seine, will help us to increase our attractiveness both nationally and internationally," emphasized Fabrice Lacoume, FIN vice-president in charge of boat shows. in charge of boat shows.

"Nautic en Seine will feature 6 days of exhibits, from Tuesday October 15 to Sunday October 20, 2024, in an unprecedented configuration combining outdoor and indoor activities. The sites will be able to accommodate up to 150 boats afloat, of which around 30 will be offered for trial, and 80 boats on land, with over 4,000 professionals expected to attend. 8,500 m2 of onshore exhibition space will enable equipment suppliers, engine manufacturers, services, rental companies and territories to complete the boat displays," announced Caroline Popovici, FIN's Director of Operations.

The presence of local yacht clubs and professionals from the boardsports, light sailing and outdoor activities sectors should enable visitors to discover the full range of water-based leisure activities on site.

With the Seine as the gateway, the event will be accessible by specially chartered river shuttles from Paris or the Hauts-de-Seine. access (metro, bus, streetcar, bike, car), electrically-powered shuttles will also be between the two sites, which face each other.

Paris Boat Show + Factory Tours

Paris boat show and factory tours with dufour yachts and bali catamarans.

December was an event filled month for me. I was able to visit the Paris Boat Show. Dream Yacht Charter has a full booth with all of their European charter booking brokers and yacht brokers in attendance. Most European manufacturers also were in attendance. This show is massive and gives you an opportunity to see Paris and attend one of the largest indoor boat shows worldwide. Dufour Yachts has every yacht on display except for their new Dufour 63. Fortunately, I was able to see the new Dufour 63 in production at their factory in La Rochelle. Dufour also had the new 520 on display with the new 2 stage platform pictured below.

Paris Boat Show 2017

After a day at the boat show, I traveled to La Rochelle by train which is a 3 hour trip to west coast of France on the Atlantic. La Rochelle is the headquarters for many well known yacht manufacturers. On this trip I only had time to visit Dufour Yachts and Bali Catamarans. If you have never been to La Rochelle, it’s a definite MUST!

Day 1 we visited the Dufour factory and saw first hand how their manufacture all of their monohulls including the new 63 pictured below. Dufour has a long history in La Rochelle producing high quality and higher performance sailboats. Day 2 we visited the Bali Catamaran factory. The drive is about 30 minutes from La Rochelle. I actually stumbled on the new Bali 4.0 “Free and Easy” pictured below waiting to be delivered to its new owners meant for charter in the Bahamas. Happy to share my experience with anyone interested in visiting La Rochelle or other manufacturers including Dufour and Bali. I happily travel with prospective buyers to visit the various manufacturing sites in Europe.

Cruise in Paris : The Seine is different with Paris Yacht Marina

Would you like to cruise the Seine aboard a prestigious boat? The Paris Yacht Marina offers you and your guests the chance to embark on the Clipper Paris; a yacht of 54 meters inspired by the ships of the beginning of the 20th century, the croisiere Paris offers sheer elegance. For a small group of up to 6 people, the croisiere seine offers pure comfort and relaxation.

The Clipper Paris - your cruise along the Seine aboard a prestigious yacht

The Clipper Paris is a 54-meter yacht, recently constructed at the Chantiers Naval in Saint-Nazaire. It combines the classical style of the early 20th century with the best current level of comfort. Furnished and decorated in an atypical and cozy style, it proposes a living room of 200 m2 and a superb bridge of 170 m2 in the lounge. On the deck or from the lounge, you can enjoy the most beautiful part of Paris, the Seine.

Your cruise to Paris from the port of Grenelle, or with a stopover of your choice

Moored at the Port of Grenelle, located in the 15th arrondissement, a stone 's throw from the Eiffel Tower, the Paris Yacht Marina suggests you sail the Seine River to the Louvre or the François Mitterrand Library, towards the Parc de Saint-Cloud and the Seguin Island. As an option, we can board or drop off your guests at various stopovers in Paris (Javel Bas, Gare d'Austerlitz, Debilly Trocadero, etc.).

You can have the Clipper Paris for lunch, dinner or for the whole day. The Clipper Paris is ideal for a cruise on the Seine whatever the number of your guests.

The James - your cruise on the Seine for up to 6 people

For a romantic cruise, or small group outing, discover the James.

The James is a 12 meter long offshore cruise ship, constructed by the Bénéteau shipyards. It will allow you to enjoy a comfortable cruise for up to 6 people. Your cruise may include champagne and snacks, or a delicious dinner served back on the beach. An experienced captain and a steward will watch over the smooth running of your cruise on the Seine.

Cruise as a lover or group of intimate friends with a VIP welcome. The James is the ideal boat to experience privilege under the bridges of Paris. It will allow you to appreciate the most beautiful avenue of the capital, the Seine, in the best conditions of comfort and exclusivity.

Paris Yacht Marina : A prime location in the heart of Paris

Located in the 15th arrondissement at the Port of Grenelle, The Paris Yacht Marina enjoys easy access to : - Metro line 6, station Bir Hakeim - RER C, station Javel - West periphery by the Porte de Versailles - Quick access from Montparnasse train station - Quick access from Orly airport (Paris Center ring road)

As well as the proximity of the Eiffel Tower, the Port de Grenelle enjoys a unique perspective on the island of Swans. The port and marina boast many prestige boats and sailboats that contribute to the beauty and image of the place.

Viral Photos Show LeBron James and Wife Savannah James on Luxury Yacht for Post-Olympics Getaway

F resh off a gold medal win in the Paris Olympics, LeBron James is making the most of his remaining weeks before the next basketball adventure starts.

The Los Angeles Lakers star was photographed with wife Savannah James on a luxury yacht on the Italian island of Capri on August 21.  The Daily Mail shared a series of photos showing the two sharing an intimate moment aboard the vessel.

The report noted that LeBron and Savannah James have been making their way around Europe since the Paris Olympics concluded, also spending some time in Munich. Savannah had previously taken to Instagram to share an image of their visit to Nice.

Before their trek around Europe, the couple was seen partying in Paris to celebrate Team USA's win over France to take home their fifth consecutive gold medal.

LeBron James has close to six weeks left before the start of Lakers training camp, when he will have the chance to make history with another family member. The Lakers drafted his son, Bronny James, and the pair have the chance to become the first father-and-son duo to play together in the NBA.

Paris 2024 Paralympic Games | Programme, favourites... Everything you need to know about the Para canoe events

GettyImages-1337742394

For its third appearance on the Paralympic Games programme, Para canoe will be on show on 6, 7 and 8 September at the magnificent Vaires-sur-Marne water sports stadium.

The Para canoe races will be held in the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium (Seine-et-Marne). This venue, which was delivered in June 2019, host the rowing and canoeing events for the Olympic Games in 2024 on the Vaires-Torcy leisure island, and the Para rowing and Para canoe events for the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 . A brand-new facility that has delighted the French Rowing and Canoeing-Kayaking Federations, the nautical stadium was the first newly-built facility for the Paris 2024 Games.

This large-scale project, the only one of its kind in Europe, also meets the leisure needs of the people of the Paris region, while satisfying the demands for excellence of top-level sportsmen and women. Set in 150 hectares of outstanding landscape, the infrastructure has been built to a high environmental quality (HEQ) standard, guaranteeing the protection and enhancement of the site.  The whitewater stadium will enable the Ile de loisirs de Vaires-Torcy to expand its range of leisure activities for the people of Ile-de-France. A legacy for everyone!

The competitions will take place over three days: 6, 7 and 8 September . The 6th will be devoted to the heats, while the 7th and 8th will offer us the thrills of the finals, whether in kayak or Va'a (yes, there are two types of boat here).

What classifications?

Three classes of disability are recognised at international level. As with all Paralympic activities, level 1 represents the highest level of disability.

KL1: Athletes with no or very limited trunk function and no leg function.

KL2 or VL2: Athletes with partial trunk and leg function, able to sit upright in a kayak, but who may require a seat with a high back.

KL3 or VL3: Athletes with trunk function and partial leg function, able to sit with the trunk bent forward in the kayak and able to use at least one leg.

KL corresponds to a kayak and double paddle.

VL corresponds to a pirogue (Va'a) and single paddle.

At these Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, we'll have to keep an eye on the four representatives of the French team:

  • Elea Charvet
  • Rémy Boullé, bronze medallist in Tokyo

Maria Taylor will host late-night Paris Olympics coverage for NBC, be on Team USA boat for Opening Ceremonies

"I feel like I owe a lot to the athletes and the Olympics in general because of what that event now means to me and what it represents."

Maria Taylor hosting a September 2022 NFL broadcast for NBC.

Details about NBC’s 2024 Paris Olympics plans continue to come out. Last month, the network announced that Mike Tirico would again host primetime coverage as well as a national afternoon show, with Rebecca Lowe, Craig Melvin, Ahmad Fareed, and Damon Hack also hosting daytime coverage. They also announced roles for long-time Olympics broadcasters Mary Carillo, Andrea Joyce, and Jimmy Roberts. And now, Richard Deitsch of The Athletic reported Tuesday that Maria Taylor is set to host their late-night coverage, as well as play a major Opening Ceremonies role:

NEWS: @MariaTaylor will host NBC’s Paris Olympics late-night coverage. She’ll also have one of the coolest assignments in Olympics history — reporting on a boat going down the River Seine during the Opening Ceremony. Story ⤵️ https://t.co/nteKwUOrLe — Richard Deitsch (@richarddeitsch) June 4, 2024

Deitsch writes that the move (which NBC is expected to officially announce later Tuesday) will see Taylor hosting on both broadcast NBC and streaming service Peacock, and that her Opening Ceremonies role will see her on Team USA’s boat. (The Opening Ceremonies will have athletes from all countries in a four-mile boat parade.) Taylor told him she’s thrilled for that role, saying “When it became official I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is going to be something I could have never imagined or dreamed of doing.'”

But Taylor also said she’s incredibly excited about her Olympics work in general. She’ll be appearing live from various venues across Paris for the late-night show to try and “make the city a central character,” and will feature significant guests. She’s also able to bring her son (Roman Ryan Taylor Hemphill, born in December) along for these Games. And she credits the last Olympics (stylized the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, it actually took place in the summer of 2021 due to COVID-19) as reviving her interest in broadcasting after her painful exit from ESPN , with it even marking her first on-air event for NBC . Here’s what she told Deitsch on that front:

“When my departure from ESPN happened, I was depleted, exhausted, in a lot of ways torn down,” Taylor said. “I feel like the Olympics have restored me. Being in Tokyo and being a part of the opening ceremony there, it just revitalized my passion (for) working in sports broadcasting. I feel like I owe a lot to the athletes and the Olympics in general because of what that event now means to me and what it represents. It breathed a lot of life back into me. “When I started in broadcasting, my goal was to be at the women’s volleyball national championships and maybe host the women’s basketball tournament. Now you’re telling me that I get to host an Olympics where Mike Tirico and Bob Costas have stood in and talked about these things. You could tell me that I was going to do this under a rock at 2 a.m. and I’d be like, ‘I’m hosting the Olympics!’ I didn’t know how much it would mean to me three years ago and now I even get to bring my baby to cover the Games.”

It’s interesting to hear Taylor speak about how much the Olympics means to her. And it’s notable to see her in a major role like this, with the late-night coverage often a key part of Olympics broadcasts. Taylor has been wearing a lot of hats at NBC, and may have more still to come if they do indeed get NBA rights, but this one seems particularly important to her. We’ll see what she does with it.

One dead, six missing after luxury superyacht capsizes off Sicily coast

The boat, that was carrying tourists including British tech giant Mike Lynch, sank due to rough weather conditions.

Emergency services carry a body bag after a sailboat sank in the early hours of Monday, off the coast of Porticello, near the Sicilian city of Palermo, Italy

One person has died and six remain missing after a luxury superyacht with 22 people on board sank off the Sicilian coast, according to Italian authorities.

The missing included British tech giant Mike Lynch, his daughter Hannah Lynch, his lawyer and others, Italy’s civil protection and authorities said on Monday. Lynch’s wife Angela Bacares and 14 other people survived.

Italy’s coastguard and firefighters brought 15 people to safety on Monday after the 50-metre (164-foot) sailboat capsized at about 5am (03:00 GMT) due to rough winds and choppy waters caused by a waterspout, Italian media reported.

One body was located in the wreck at a depth of about 50 metres, a coastguard spokesman told the AFP news agency. The victim is understood to be a man and was the yacht’s onboard chef, according to Italian media.

The boat was carrying 12 passengers and 10 crew members. The missing people were of British, American and Canadian nationality, the coastguard said.

A one-year-old girl was among those rescued, along with her mother.

A survivor identified as Charlotte Golunski said she had momentarily lost hold of her one-year-old daughter Sofia in the water, but then managed to hold her up over the waves until a lifeboat inflated and they were both pulled to safety, Italian news agency ANSA reported, quoting the mother.

“It was terrible. The boat was hit by really strong wind and shortly after it went down,” she added.

Eight people out of 15 rescued have been hospitalised, and all 15 are in stable condition, according to Italian news agency Adnkronos.

Watersprout

The chartered sailboat sank off Porticello, when a waterspout struck the area overnight, said Salvo Cocina of Sicily’s civil protection agency.

According to National Geographic, a waterspout roughly resembles a mini-tornado over a body of water. It likely occurred as storms and heavy rainfall have hit Italy in recent days – with floods and landslides causing damage in the north – after weeks of scorching heat.

“I was at home when the tornado struck,” fisherman Pietro Asciutto told ANSA. “I immediately closed all the windows. Then I saw the boat, it just had one mast, it was really big. I saw it suddenly sink.”

Another witness quoted by the agency said: “The boat was all lit up. Around 4:30 am, it was no longer there. A beautiful boat where there was a party. A normal joyous vacation day at sea turned into tragedy.”

Storms and heavy rainfall have swept down Italy in recent days after weeks of scorching heat, which had lifted the temperature of the Mediterranean sea to record levels, raising the risk of extreme weather conditions, experts said.

“The sea surface temperature around Sicily was around 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit), which is almost 3 degrees more than normal. This creates an enormous source of energy that contributes to these storms,” said meteorologist Luca Mercalli.

“We can’t say that this is all due to global warming but we can say that it has an amplifying effect,” he told Reuters.

Italian prosecutors in the nearby town of Termini Imerese have opened an investigation to look into what had gone wrong.

Meanwhile, fire department divers are scouring areas around the boat, which was flying a British flag. Helicopters are also aiding rescue efforts, authorities said.

Camper & Nicholsons, the managers of the yacht, said in a statement that they were “assisting with the ongoing search” for the missing people.

A UK foreign ministry spokesperson said British officials were in contact with local authorities and are willing to provide consular support to its citizens who were affected.

ANSA said the boat, named “Bajesian”, had been moored in the port at Porticello and had set sail on Sunday evening.

The vessel was built by Italian shipbuilding firm Perini Navi in 2008.

Paris Hilton is no longer sliving her best life ... instead, she's mourning some of her valuables which were destroyed in a trailer fire last week.

TMZ broke the story ... the heiress-turned-DJ's makeup trailer went up in flames in downtown Los Angeles, where she was camped out for the filming of her new music video, "Bad Bitch Academy."

Now, Paris has given an up-close look at the damage done to her pretty-in-pink belongings ... capturing footage of what remained after the fiery blaze.

While the flames did a number on her personal items, a few signature items made it through ... albeit charred. First up, Paris happily showed off that her "Sliving Mom" sticker and others were left untouched by the fire.

She then panned to some designer jewelry ... where Paris declared a couple Chanel earrings weren't totally destroyed in the chaos. Sadly, not all of her jewelry made it out unscathed ... as a set of Chanel pearls were turned charcoal black by the flames.

Paris Hilton Through the Years

Watch the vid ... Paris does a full inventory of her belongings, where she confirmed only one of her journals survived.

In fact, Paris shared that several handbag prototypes -- which are set to drop in Walmart soon as part of her new line -- were also destroyed in the fire.

She added ... "You can get ones that are not burned. This is crazy."

However, Paris was just grateful photos of her kids, Phoenix and London , weren't destroyed. A silver lining in an otherwise grim update.

There's still no word on what caused the fire ... but the Fire Department is looking into it.
