Sailing yachts are a great way to explore the Maldives, with the optimum time during the monsoon season from November to April, which produces a steady north-easterly – perfect conditions for the sailing adventure of a lifetime.

The Maldives is located near the equator and so enjoys year-round balmy temperatures of between 25-30 degrees celsius.

The best time to visit this idyllic location is from November to April – during the Northern Hemisphere winter, with the busiest months being  December and January . This period coincides with their northeast monsoon, which is the dry season and produces warm mild winds, perfect for yacht charters.

For this reason, the area is strictly regulated and there is an 80-person capacity at any time. Therefore, it is essential to book ahead to ensure you don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
• Have plenty of cash to hand as the only ATMs are in Malé. Although the Maldives has its own currency, US dollars are widely accepted.
• Some anchorages are in fairly deep water, which may be an issue for yachts with a smaller anchor chain. Plus, access to the lagoons through the coral reefs that fringe the atolls can sometimes prove problematic. This has been remedied in places where parts of the outer reef have been blasted away to facilitate access.
• Some of the best anchorages are based around the island resorts, but you should be mindful they will likely charge a fee to anchor or land your yacht at their resorts.
• Please note that the tap water is not drinkable in the Maldives, so bear that in mind if you plan to venture ashore.
• Be sure to respect the Muslim culture in the Maldives by adhering to their dress codes, especially around the towns and cities.
• Alcohol is prohibited in the Maldives, with the exception of the resorts.

The Maldives has three main areas: Northern, Central and Southern Atolls – each with their own unique characteristics.

Northern Atolls

In the northern region of the Maldives, you will find the breathtaking Baa Atoll , encompassing lush tropical islands fringed by endless powder-white beaches and phenomenal marine ecology, earning it the first UNESCO World Biosphere status . Southern Atolls

One of the best times to book a yacht charter in the Maldives is from December to May when the climate is dry and the southwest monsoon season has passed. Yet, it’s safe to say the Maldives has moderate weather with a nice island breeze all year round due to its proximity to the equator.

NORTHERN ATOLLS

Season: Year-round

The North and South Male Atolls are the most developed in the Maldives, while the Baa Atoll is home to Hanifaru Bay, where mantas and whale sharks congregate at certain times of the year. The Noonu Atoll and the Raa Atoll are home to some of the more remote luxury resorts in the Maldives.

There are plenty of islands further afield to discover in the northern reaches of the Maldives – this region features in Maldivian history as one of the rulers who fought against Portuguese colonisation in the 16th century lived here. In the far north, visitors will find protected marine zones, shipwrecks and underwater caves, ideal for divers.

CENTRAL ATOLLS

The central atolls comprise Dhaalu, Thaa, Laamu, Meemu, Faafu. Thaa and Laamu are praised for their consistent barrel surfing and fishing, not to mention some sensational diving.

In the Ari Atoll, Fenfushi is fascinating for those in search of the cultural side of the Maldives; its inhabitants were skilful sculptors and carvers of coral and their art is still to be seen on the finely decorated walls of the island’s mosque and the tombstones in the nearby cemetery. Divers will love this region’s abundance of fish and prospect of whale sharks and manta rays at the right season.

SOUTHERN ATOLLS

Further south lie the Huvadhoo Atoll and the Addu Atoll, which are often considered as the most beautiful in the Maldives with their lack of development, stunning natural wonders and prolific coral reefs. Visitors can experience local culture in some of the far-flung villages in this region.

The Eastern side of Huvadhoo is a paradise in the true sense of the word for underwater aficionados and fishermen – during the dry monsoon practically all the narrow passes along the atoll’s perimeter are ideal for current dives, with clear visibility and congregating fish. For everybody who love sea and adventuress, who would like to have romantic trip with loving person, this is the right choice. Additional pluses are that you can do in the same day, a plenty of different things. We are staying in resort, where can you arrange always only one thing, for example only trip to the sandbank or only trip to snorkeling or trip to big game fishing. My decision was, that I don’t wont to spend a lot of money only driving with the boat to sandbank. I find on the google Get My Boat and Siren of the Sea was my first choice, because is perfect balance between the price and service . I send them very simple wishes “ We would like fishing and in the middle time go to sandbank to swiming and snorkeling”. We get much more than that. They come to pick up us on the minute, first we started trolling on the reef and we catch two fishes, one tuna and one huge blu fin fish, than we go to sandbank, where the crew left us and there was really unbelievable feeling as you are alone in the ocean, 100% privat, and guys one thing more what I did there !!! I ask my girl if she will marry with me!!! And she said YES!!! Then we spend a really special moments together, it takes two ours. After that the crew pick us and we go to try Popping and Jigging. On the way back we once again trolling and we catch one more fish. The crew is professional, they give you everything on the highest level, all the best I can say for Carmi, Abo and the rest of the crew, I will choose them again 😎👏👍

Abdulla, Carmii and the rest of the crew are amazing, incredibly nice and flexible, always looking after our safety and making sure we had the best experience. We went swimming with sharks and to a couple of amazing sand banks and had lunch at a local island. Completely recommend them!

We hired Siren of the Sea for a snorkeling experience in the Maldives in October 2019. They picked-us from our hotel, the boat was very good, as in the pictures, there were snacks and refreshments on board and the crew was very friendly. The only remark is that the crew did not speak good English and the communication was therefore limited. I highly recommend Siren of the Sea, we had a great experience and the snorkeling was great.

What an amazing fishing trip ! The team is very professional with a top quality service. Not counting hours and doing the outmost to help you target your dream fish. Just book Leekan, a very recent boat in very good condition, sit back and relax. The captain is super welcoming and planned everything, food, drinks is and towels I will definitely recommend to book.

We had a great time on Siren of the Seas. The crew really looked after us. The boat and equipment were well maintained. And the fishing was great

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

The beautifully designed and luxuriously furnished liveaboard, Maldives Legend - Sea Pleasure is crafted with passion and exquisitely built for the elite customers. The magnificent and beautiful Maldives Legend – Sea Pleasure is a 30 metre luxury liveaboard. This elegant and beautiful yacht was built in Maldives with passion and love and crafted for for both private charters and dive trips. Built with attention to detail for the seas of Maldives, the vessel comprises of a total of four decks. The liveaboard could accommodate a total of 20 pax in 10 cabins.

With a total of 6 room in the lower deck and 4 rooms in the upper deck, all rooms are spacious, air conditioned, and have en suite toilets. There are three categories of rooms; 4 Seaview Suites on the upper deck, 4 Family Cabins and 2 Standard Twin Cabins in the lower deck.

The liveaboard has a total of 4 Seaview Cabins with private balconies in the upper deck and two from those cabins having option for either twin or double accommodation.

The lower deck consists of two standard twin cabins in the front. It further consists of 4 family cabins with a double bed and a single bed and one cabin with a double bed. All rooms air airconditioned with en suite shower and toilet and the upper deck cabins have minibar.

The yacht is equipped with a jacuzzi bar on the sun deck. The sun deck further has sun lounges.

The spacious saloon and the restaurant in the main deck consists of an expansive area as a lounge, restaurant serving multicuisine and a bar serving cocktails, beer, wine and imported liquor.

The luxuriously designed yacht also have exterior areas for dining and relaxation on the main deck.

The Liveaboard comes together with two tenders. A full edged spacious dive & excursion dhoani (tender). The dhoni has an occupancy of 26 pax with full dive setup and equipment rental.

Our highly qualified dynamic crew consists of 8 crew onboard, 3 crew on the Dhoani, Cruise Manager & Guides. Their level of expertise, professionalism, friendliness, charm and attention to detail have been nurtured in them due to their vast experience in the industry. From the Captain, Chef to the Deck and Room attendants everyone is pro active and are focused in giving you a personalised experience onboard.

The Chef with an experience of over 15 years, are skilled in serving sumptious meals of various cuisines, ranging from Asian, Indian, Maldivian and Western cuisine. A series of cocktails, beer, wine and spirits are served at both the bar in the main deck, jacuzzi in the top deck and the relaxation areas.

A HUGE resort just a few hours from the UK has been compared to the Maldives.

The Granada Luxury Belek in Turkey is a huge five-star resort in the resort city of Antalya.

However, the Maldives comparison comes from their overwater villas, which are in the adult-only zone.

Sleeping up to two people, the villas have direct access to the huge water lagoon, similar to ones in the Maldives .

TikToker Charmane Isabella recently visited, saying in her video : "POV: you take a 4.5 hour flight from the UK to visit Turkey Maldives instead of an 11.5 hour flight to actual Maldives".

Even locals were left stunned by the comparison.

Thankfully you won't run out of food choices with five buffet restaurants and four a la carte options.

If you fancy staying, holiday providers such as Thomas Cook , TUI easyJet Holidays and Jet2Holidays all have deals.

Loveholidays has bargain deals, costing £519pp for a seven night stay, all-inclusive and with return flights from London Stansted in January.

Or you can book rooms from £130 a night, although these will be the most basic room options at the hotel.

However, this is a fraction of the cost of a holidays to the Maldives, which can cost between £3,000 and £5,000 on average per person.

Elsewhere in Turkey, the island of Suluada has also been compared to the Maldives due to it's clear blue waters and pretty beaches.

It's not the only Maldives dupe destination, with a number in Europe too.

The new King Jason Hotel on the Greek island of Zante recently opened, with it's own private overwater villas.

Or in Crete, there is a water bungalow resort that is much cheaper than the Maldives .
