Conor McGregor grew up with his two siblings, Erin and Aoife, in Ireland

Conor McGregor may be one of the most recognized names in MMA, but behind his success stands a supportive family, particularly his sisters Erin and Aoife.
Growing up in Ireland, the McGregor siblings had modest and loving beginnings, raised by parents, Tony and Margaret McGregor. Erin and Aoife have each forged their own paths while remaining close to their brother. The McGregor siblings' bond is evident through their frequent social media posts, where they often express their admiration for one another.
Erin, who got married in August 2024, celebrated in the company of her siblings at the Cashel Palace Hotel in their home country. The MMA star reposted a picture of him and his friends dressed in a pastel green suit at the three-day event.
"It was important to us to celebrate with those who have been a constant support in our lives," she told PEOPLE about her wedding with singer-songwriter Terry Kavanagh. "We wanted an event that reflected our journey, filled with love, laughter and cherished memories, ensuring everyone felt included in our special day."
Conor’s sisters have also stood by him through every triumph and setback, showcasing a family that remains united regardless of the challenges they face.
Here’s everything to know about Conor McGregor’s sisters — Erin and Aoife — and their relationship with their athletic sibling.
Aoife McGregor/Instagram
Growing up in Crumlin, Dublin, the McGregor siblings’ childhood was marked by the values instilled by their dad and mom, who were dedicated to providing a stable and loving environment. Tony, a taxi driver for 26 years, and Margaret, a devoted homemaker, showcased the importance of hard work and family unity.
"My parents were extremely hard workers," Aoife told Irish Independent . "All my life they worked. My dad was a taxi driver. They met when they were, like, 13 or 14, when they were working in a launderette just off Baggot Street. They met when they were folding sheets. Folding sheets was apparently the thing to do."
In an interview with Stellar in 2018, Erin opened up about how Tony and Margaret have impacted her work ethic.
“My parents believe that hard work and determination equals success,” she said. “We’re a working class family, never afraid of hard work and that was instilled in us from youth.”
In an Instagram post with Margaret in November 2023, Conor wrote, “My mother raised me to stand by what is right, and to call out what is wrong.”
Erin McGregor/Instagram
Erin, a former hairdresser, launched her clothing line, Imperfection by Erin McGregor, in 2021.
The brand focuses on “glamorous” yet “comfortable” nightwear for women of all ages, according to the company site . Erin’s real-life experiences have inspired much of the brand, and the pieces “have a deeper meaning to help women create the life they want and deserve.”
In addition to nightwear, Erin released a collection of beds as part of her brand in collaboration with Ireland-based brand DFi Beds in 2022. She posted on Instagram in April 2023, reflecting on the journey and resilience of being a business owner.
"I know many people think doors must fly open for me but that’s not the truth at all,” she wrote. “I've been told so many times NO. I couldn’t have dreamt this collaboration in my wildest dreams but here it is."
Erin’s business ventures are strongly supported by her siblings, with Aoife posting in 2022 about her sister’s new accessories for her brand. “Check out @erinmcgregor123 new jewelry range. Linked in my stories @imperfectionthebrand,” she shared.
Aoife’s love for beauty and makeup was evident from a young age, influenced by the McGregor siblings’ mother.
"My mam is so glam," she told Irish Independent in 2017. "She is really into make-up. I always remember, as a little girl—before gel nails and acrylic nails—every Friday night, before my mother went out for a few drinks with my dad, she would sit and put her nails on."
Aoife noted that it wasn’t just her mom, Margaret, who instilled a love of beauty and fashion — her dad, Tony, was also “extremely dapper.”
"He loves his old three-piece suits," she said. "At every family party, all my uncles would rock in with their jeans and their shirts, and I guarantee that Tony would have a three-piece suit."
Their parents' influence shaped the siblings’ personal styles as they got older, Aoife added. "It was always in us from a young age to be stylish. We are all quite into fashion," she continued.
In a heartfelt Facebook post in July 2022, Conor wished his sister a happy birthday, calling her “style queen.”
“Happy birthday my sister @aoife.mcgregor, style queen mad thing I love you so much to the moon and back, forever and always the world is yours my blood,” he penned.

Erin has an adult daughter, Taylor, from a previous relationship and a younger son, Harry, with her now-husband, Kavanagh. Both children have appeared on the fashionista’s social media accounts.
In May 2023, she posted a video about a mother-daughter trip with Taylor, adding the caption, "London Town with my baby girl."
Taylor was also featured alongside her mom in an ad posted on Instagram for one of Conor’s brands, Forged Irish Stout, in February 2024. “I always love supporting my own. I think it’s so important,” Erin said in the video.
Harry, who has autism and is nonverbal, is frequently featured in Erin’s posts, often spreading awareness about his condition.
In October 2022, she wrote on Instagram about her commitment to advocating for his needs.
"My child might not have a voice per se but I will never give up fighting for his rights in this world,” the mother of two noted. “No one should have to fight for their needs to be met. To all the parents out there doing their best, we see you, we feel you, we hear you."
Harry played a major role in Erin's wedding planning, she told PEOPLE in August 2024, as it was crucial he be at ease throughout the celebration.
"Our absolute must-have for the wedding was ensuring that Harry was as comfortable as possible and able to enjoy the wedding festivities," she said. "To achieve this, we put several thoughtful measures in place to maximize his comfort and joy."
The McGregor siblings’ kinship is frequently showcased on social media, both hyping up one another and extending support of their endeavors professionally and personally.
In 2018, Conor posted on Instagram about Erin’s participation in Dancing with the Stars , writing, “Thank you to everyone voting and supporting my sister on Dancing with the stars. Yup, the McGregors never ever forget it.”
After Conor’s UFC 264 loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021, resulting in a broken ankle, Erin posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram Stories.
"You've given so much and more to so many people @notoriousmma,” she said. “You've taken so many on this journey with you & raised the game, watching you has been inspirational, motivational. Sending you love & a speedy recovery #teammcgregor FOREVER."
For Erin’s birthday in June 2022, Aoife shared a picture with Conor and Erin celebrating at the UFC fighter’s pub in Dublin. “Happy birthday sister, we love you. The best night in the best spot @theblackforgeinn,” she wrote.
More recently, at Erin's wedding reception, guests enjoyed cocktails and drinks featuring her brother's liquor brands, Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey and Forged Irish Stout, a subtle nod at the siblings unwavering support of one another.
Story of Eve
Erin married longtime partner Kavanagh on Aug. 17, 2024, after getting engaged in December 2022.
The celebration took place at the Cashel Palace Hotel in Tipperary, Ireland. According to Irish Independent , the McGregors booked the entire 42-room venue for a six-figure sum.
In making the ultimate decision to have the wedding close to home, Erin told PEOPLE that it came down to making sure her younger child could enjoy the celebration.
"Everyone asks why we didn’t get married abroad, and the truth is wanting our son Harry to be a part of our day was more important," she said.
Conor reposted a picture of himself and some friends at the wedding on his Instagram Stories with the caption, "Some buzz second day Erin & Terry's Wedding. Something else."
Mary Shores explains why she and her husband named their sailing yacht after a Māori word which signifies family togetherness.
It is inevitable perhaps that growing up around the beautiful Chesapeake Bay would lead to a lifelong affinity with the ocean and sailing. Mary and Mark Shores’ childhoods were spent on and around the waters of this Maryland maritime haven, and when they met in high school, they would sail an 11ft dinghy together. Fast forward over 39 years of marriage and owning a string of sailing yachts ranging from 7m to 18m, and the couple are still happiest with the wind on their backs at sea. Now, however, it is on board their 33m New Zealand-built sloop Marae .
Sailing yacht Marae is a boat of togetherness, by name and by nature. One of her owners, Mary Shores shares why she and her husband named their sailing yacht after this special Māori word and explains how yachting is the best way to bring people together.
“While we enjoy being on the water in any type of boat, for us sailing is what we enjoy the most,” says Mary. “The quiet peace of sailing with the wind, while it can offer challenges when it pipes up, if you manage the conditions successfully it makes moving from harbour to harbour as much fun as the locations you visit. There are so many dimensions to sailing; exploring new destinations, exhilarating sailing days underway, clear nights. For us, these are the special experiences that Marae provides.”

Sailing for the Shores is unequivocally a family affair, and the couple bought Marae in 2012 in order to accommodate their ever-growing, multigenerational clan – their three children and spouses plus grandchildren. “We wanted a yacht that would fit our family, was truly a sailboat from a performance standpoint but also one that could fit into quiet, snug coves for those unique secluded nights,” explains Mary. “ Marae had a perfect balance of performance and comfort.”
Marae ‘s name – pronounced ‘mar-eye’ and taken from the Māori word for “a special place for family and friends” – embodies the spirit of familial togetherness that yachting means for the Shores. “When we named her we wanted to tie back to her New Zealand roots with her being built by Alloy,” says Mary, who admits that buying a boat is significantly easier than naming it. “Through our research we found that in New Zealand, a marae is a special meeting place in the community for family and friends. This is exactly what the yacht means for us, so we knew we had the right name.”

Loaded with toys and with plenty of areas for relaxing and socialising, Marae is perfect for nurturing quality time and making memories. Life on board is focused on fun, from mini sailing regattas on the two lasers, kayak expeditions, snorkelling and diving, lounging on the floating island, tubing and wake boarding behind the custom Williams tender, or, the couple’s favourite pastime, turning off the engine, putting up the sails and sailing Marae .
“I think being on a yacht naturally helps people connect and bond,” says Mary. “ Marae has a number of wonderful places for people to hang out – the pilot house, the upper salon bar, the helm area, the foredeck, the aft private cockpit. And we have full range of toys for everyone to enjoy. On or off water, there is something for everyone.”
Being family-friendly is a crucial part of what makes Marae the ultimate platform for the Shores. For Mary, this comes down to three things. Firstly, she says, it is the crew who work hard to ensure that life on board is enjoyable for family and friends of all ages, sharing their vast knowledge and experience with everyone. Secondly, Marae is versatile and safe over a wide range of wind and sea states, providing a comfortable vessel for both experienced and inexperienced sailors. And finally, Marae ’s shallow draft allows them to tuck into quieter, special anchorages and protected coves for total privacy and secure fun.
A successful charter yacht, Marae cruises between New England in the summer and the Caribbean during the winter, both destinations that Mark and Mary love and happily explore when they are able to spend time on board (typically up to six weeks a year). From Nantucket to Martha’s Vineyard, the Bahamas to Grenada, Marae ‘s itineraries take her to a wide variety of breathtaking places. While a recent highlight for the couple was attending the America’s Cup in Bermuda – “it was like going to a Formula 1 race on the water” – their longtime favourite destination is the BVIs, a place they started to visit in the early ‘80s and still offers new anchorages to discover and unique places to spend time.
“When you step on board a yacht, the stress of daily life just melts away,” says Mary. “I can’t quite explain it but it happens every time; quiet, peace, tranquility. Our crew just does a wonderful job of taking care of us – from the fresh coffee in the morning to happy hour, every meal and moment is special and unique. It’s these little things that make the experience special and allows us to have a true holiday when we visit.”
