Founded in 2014, Southport Yacht Club (SYC) is focused on boating! Our goal is to spend time off the dock and on the water in the North Carolina Cape Fear Region.  Our club is a great place to learn about the regional waters, acquire additional boating skills, develop friendships, and feel part of a community.  The club is 100% percent volunteer based and our members organize sailboat races/regattas, cruises, educational seminars, and super fun events throughout the year.

Our goal for this website is to provide you a snapshot of everything SYC has to offer.  For our members this site has a Member’s Only section where you can learn about upcoming events and shop our  “Ship’s Store”.   If you are a prospective member or just interested in the club, we hope you spend time on our website to see what we are all about!

Southport Yacht Club, established in 1946, is the Gold Coast’s award-winning premier sports club. Our Main Beach Clubhouse is home to the only open-air waterfront north-facing restaurant & bar. Overlooking our stunning 300-berth Marina on the Gold Coast’s waters, this location is a perfect venue for your next conference, function or waterfront wedding.

The Hollywell Clubhouse is home to our SYC sailing squadron, along with a Bar & Bistro. It’s the ideal place to grab a cold drink and watch one of our many off-the-beach Sailing events. Our well cared for campgrounds are the ideal place for you to moor and relax with family and friends. Watch the sunset behind the beautiful Hinterland, while toasting marshmallows in the outdoor fire pit.

The Southport Yacht Club, established in 1946, is an award-winning premier sports club, and recent recipient of the Clubs Queensland Best Sports Club and Club of the Year 2020 Awards. 4 Shore Bar

Welcome to the newest edition to the Southport Yacht Club – the 4Shore Bar on the Quarterdeck.

Southport Yacht Club is excited to have not only the ONLY North facing Bar on the Gold Coast is also the ONLY Bar on the water where you can witness the Gold Coast’s spectacular sunsets. All new and all for our Members and Guests.

The current deck has almost doubled in size and the roofline also extended. Growing our current seating, in the main Club area, from 300 to over 400pax for downstairs alone. The new fully equipped bar located on the eastern side of the deck complements the area perfectly!

With the addition of a new Tapas-style menu available Friday, Saturday and Sundays are the perfect pairings to the new range of cocktails we have on tap from Lexington Hill. Margarita’s, Espresso martinis, Sangria or a Rose Cider.

Waterscape Pontoon Bar

Southport Yacht Club (SYC) have recently installed yet another edition to the Club, Australia’s first Pontoon Bar – “Waterscape”.

Waterscape by Superior Jetties is a world-first installed at SYC’s Main Beach facility in front of the Club’s 300 berths private marina.

Waterscape is the perfect location to wine and dine with family and friends.

With 300 berths in the Marina, we are also home to Australia’s Largest Floating Megayacht Berth at 160 meters, accommodating vessels up to 135 meters. The Megayacht berth offers up to 600amp power , camera surveillance across the dock, grants a drive on pontoon for ease of provisioning and a service road for craning or bunkering.

A ride aboard the Southport Water Tours boat is a must-see for visitors to Southport. What better way to see the town--ANY town--than from the water that provides so much revenue and livelihood for a community!

On vacation in Holden Beach and wanted to check out Southport one evening. Saw they had a 50 minute tour and it was a great time for all. We had a nice breeze. The boat had a cover to keep the sun off us. The captain would give us info on all the islands and stuff that we would pass. Best $20 you can spend.

We took out of town visitors on the cruise looking for a cool way to get some relief from the heat. It was wonderful! We learned a lot about the history and wildlife, we even got to see some dolphins. Really a fun way to learn about the area. Highly recommend.

We did this tour to pass some time before walking over to Provision for an early dinner. It was fun and informative, and there were even passing dolphins in the vicinity that were visible from the boat. We enjoyed it.

We enjoyed a great tour with Captain Ted! Eli and the team were very responsive when booking the tour. Highly recommend the private sunset tour. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed learning about the ecology and local hot spots!

Eli and Tina made this a great tour. Eli giving a great commentary on Pilots for the huge cargo ships going up and down the Cape Fear River to Wilmington. The boat has padded seats, (no backs), and overhead cover keeping the sun off you if you wish. Neat little tour

The weather was perfect for our Tackers and OutThere Kids this past weekend. Over the weekend, the wind picked up, our sailors took advantage of the opportunity to demonstrate their skills.

This week, we had three more families participate in our Family Fun Sailing program. Our families enjoyed spending quality time together on the water with our Hobie boats.

PAWS Dog Sailing

To celebrate International Dog sailing on 25 th August 2024, Oxenford held a Paws sailing event allowing our sailors to sail away with their fury first mates. The Event was an absolute blast and perfect day for sailing. The day ended with a little snack for our pups and a picture to remember.

As part of the Adult Learn to Sail session two, all of our sailors took to the water on Sunday and got a feel for the boats. We are excited to see them for their last session.

We are pleased to announce Seth Simpson as this week’s Sailor of the Week! In Tackers 2, Seth has shown a great lot of passion and enthusiasm in sailing. Seth is showing great leadership abilities and continues to grow very well.
