Azimut Yachts Introduces 45 Flybridge to 2011 Lineup

The Azimut 45 represents a project that leads to new consequences through the use of ideas that were put into practice in earlier models with great success. These include a new layout for the living area that features a different use of available below-deck space through an innovative placement of the galley, as well as a cabin arrangement that come in two varieties, 2 or 3 staterooms, each with a large central VIP cabin.

The exterior design and the concept were created by yacht designer, Stefano Righini, and the interior design, by Carlo Galeazzi. On the exterior, the great achievement is the spacious flybridge, which is attached as a modular unit at the stern. The space can be reconfigured with the simple rearrangement of a few elements: from an dinette complete with a dining table and a sofa area with L- or C-shaped seating, to a spacious sundeck on a single level.

These elements have bases that use rotational technology, which enables a savings of 25% in weight versus traditional elements. The flybridge is designed to accommodate 10 guests between seating, sundeck, and steering station. Accessed by a handy stairway, this spacious terrace overlooking the sea covers the entire cockpit, providing ample shade. It has side railings for additional safety and a skylight near the exterior steering station that can be opened, allowing communication between the flybridge and the living quarters in the interior of the main deck. This creates continuity between the two environments, exterior and interior, enabling communication between the two steering stations, even while underway. The flybridge helm features a full instrument panel, including a 14″ Raymarine display.

Great design work is also on display in the cockpit, which comes with a folding table that disappears into the sofa and a refrigerator or icemaker. The swimming platform can be either fixed or retractable, which is also useful when hauling or launching the yacht tender. The retractable version can bear a load of 350 kg, with running boards on the sides to assist in getting on and off the boat.

The Azimut 45’s Main Salon comes with 2 large sofas and a pouf, thus accommodating eight people. The main sofa can be converted into a double bed. The table’s height can be adjusted with the flip of a switch.

A great deal of effort was put into the design of the central guest cabin, a spacious suite that achieves volume beneath the steering station. It is illuminated by daylight from a panoramic glassed wall and has a bathroom with separate access. The double bed can be turned into 2 singles with a few simple adjustments.

Located in the bow is the Master Stateroom, built with care and attention in order to provide wherever possible wardrobes and space for storage, such as the large locker underneath the bed. Here as well, the cabin has a dedicated bathroom that is illuminated by light from large rectangular side portholes.

The three-cabin version offers the owner a cabin with overlapping berths, which bring the total number of beds to 8, counting the convertible sofa in the dinette.

Her galley is particularly roomy: in the first version, the marble worktop reaches a length of 3.2 meters and can accommodate a dishwasher, microwave oven and a fridge. In the 3-cabin version, a small part of the galley space is taken up by the third cabin, but the worktop remains one of the most ample in its category. One surprising feature of the galley is its location, since anyone using it can still chat with people sitting in the dinette or at the interior steering station, which is in keeping with the modern concept of cooking being a time of shared enjoyment and socializing during on-board life.

The oak interiors are a natural honey color with a breathable finish; the Jakarta leathers have a light finish on the tips that gives them a heightened 3-D effect. Azimut follows the construction philosophy of using natural dyes and materials.

The keel of the Azimut 45 is a classic variable dihedral, with an angle of 21 degrees amidship that reproduces the optimal qualities in other models of similar size in terms of wave absorption and performance. It is built in its entirety employing an infusion process, a building method that ensures low environmental impact, high-quality construction, and top-flight mechanical characteristics.

The Azimut 45 is outfitted with twin 480hp Cummins engines with shaft-mounted propellers, and a 32-knot maximum speed. With the “easy handling” and “easy docking” options, steering the boat has been highly simplified. The easy handling option assists with differing propeller rotation speeds in order to enable quick, precise course corrections, while the easy docking option enables docking in tight spaces to be accomplished using a simple joystick: wind and sea conditions have no effect on precision, and thanks to intelligent management of the power of the twin engines and the bow thruster, all maneuvers become sure and simple.

These are systems that have made it easier to use the yacht, particularly for those with little help on board. All of the boat’s functions can be monitored by using the “easy cruising” system, which integrates data relating to the electrical system, tanks, temperatures, and alarms.

Azimut Yachts launched the new Azimut 45, the latest addition to their Flybridge line. Great for enjoying time in the sun, the 45’s large flybridge accommodates 10 people comfortably. An optional bimini covers the helm station, so you can feel the wind in your hair but stay out of the sun., The 45 is available with two or three staterooms, both layouts feature the master stateroom in the bow. Standard propulsion is twin 425 horsepower Cummins QSB diesels, with the option of twin 480 horsepower Cummins QSBs. With the standard engines the 45 sports a top speed of around 30 knots and a cruising speed around 26 knots. The optional package boosts top speed up to a 32 knots and a 27 knot cruise, according to the builder.

Azimut 62 Fly First Look: Seting New Standards for Outdoor Entertaining

Azimut unveiled the brand new Fly 62 at the Cannes boat show this month. Along with the world premiere of the Seadeck 7 and show premieres of the Seadeck 6 and a revamped S8, it caps an impressive flurry of new launch activity from one of Italy’s biggest yards.

The big news on the Azimut 62 Fly is an exciting new cockpit treatment. Called the Beach Cockpit, it features a clever new electrically powered aft sofa with a seat base that drops down into the deck while the backrest simultaneously folds out and back, converting it from a forward- facing dinette sofa to a low-level aft facing sunpad. The result is an unobstructed view of the sea from both the saloon and cockpit, all without recourse to the complex and costly fold-down terraces that some yards favour.

Other outdoor spaces on the Azimut 62 Fly look equally inviting. There’s a long and well-equipped flybridge with a cosy lounge area overlooking the stern and a larger dining and helm station forward under the shelter of a hardtop.

And there’s a very sociable-looking foredeck lounge with lots of deeply upholstered face-to-face seating and a walkway through the middle. While the overall design comes from Alberto Mancini, the interior is by Fabio Fantolino, whose speciality is clean, fresh spaces with minimal clutter. The Azimut 62 Fly renderings show a bright, user-friendly saloon/galley with big windows, light oak veneers, neutral coloured fabrics and curved edges for easier movement around the main deck. The split-level saloon includes an aft galley to port with a cosy coffee/dining area opposite and a larger lounge amidships.

Azimut hasn’t yet released renderings or layout plans for the lower deck but we know there will be three ensuite guest cabins and a crew cabin. Expect a full-beam owners’ suite amidships, a VIP forward and a twin between them plus a small crew space aft.

Soft curves and neutral colours make for a safe and calming interior

With an LOA of 63ft 8in and a maximum beam of 16ft 8in, the new Azimut 62 Fly is around 4ft longer and 1in wider than the current Azimut 60 but thanks to extensive use of weight saving carbon fibre, especially in the superstructure and flybridge, it’s actually marginally lighter at a claimed 35.3 tonnes. The other big change is the switch from shaftdrive engines to IPS pods, giving a slight increase in speed (up from 31 to 32 knots) and efficiency from the same 900hp Volvo Penta D13 engines.

FORWARD FACING

The transforming bow lounge offers extensive sunbathing with convivial seating ready to deploy for cocktails at sunset. Thanks to the carbon-fiber-pole-supported bimini, either of the two bow configurations can be enjoyed throughout the day with panoramic views.

UNDER THE SUN

The unexpected dinette completes the forepart of the main deck, offering a glass-enclosed table with diner-style seating. Extending overhead, the windshield bathes the elevated enclave in light, spotlighting it for breakfast. The dinette’s position between the galley, helm and side door is ideal for a crew mess, clear of the guest dining and lounging areas. For professional catering, the galley may be enclosed with full-height walls and a sliding door, maximizing peace and privacy.

A SANCTUM OF RELAXATION

Asymmetrical design elements, pastel colors and natural, tactile materials create a sense of tranquility seldom felt even at home. The private bathroom and walk-in closet ensure the utmost comfort for extended stays at sea, with a vanity desk and chaise longue to starboard and storage to port.

Our advanced toolkit

Azimut’s pioneering use of carbon fiber lamination goes beyond pure performance. The Carbon Tech Generation offers expanded volumes onboard, while maintaining excellent dynamic stability and perfect handling. Preserving the yacht’s low center of gravity, the carbon fiber was focused on the upper parts of the yacht, lightening the laminated components by up to 30% and reducing the natural roll momentum up to 15%.

Automatic interceptors by Humphree gives the vessel the lift it needs to get up on plane faster or to reach that optimum running trim. In this way the resistance of the hull is automatically optimised for every speed and load condition, this resulting in increased speed and lower fuel consumption. The Humphree system is all electric powered by 12-24 Volt DC. Thanks to the design of the Interceptor it only requires a small amount of power to move the blade up and down, even under high speed operation.

The custom-installed Raymarine electronics have been integrated to control and monitor every onboard system: from engines and alarms, to bilge and water discharge pumps, tank levels and engine room ventilation, right through to the sound system and the air conditioning units. The system can be accessed onboard from both the interior and exterior helm stations and, with the mobile app, remotely from a tablet or smartphone.

The system automatically transfers the diesel fuel from tank to tank, ensuring that the heel angle is kept close to zero in the case of variable load distribution and refuelling.

This yacht’s design and engineering meet the highest standards for production recreational vessels. Azimut Yachts issues a declaration of the premium materials, advanced technology and rigorous testing procedures.
