Secretive 103m Feadship Project 1011 launched over the weekend

With its distinctive profile and an array of luxurious amenities, Feadship's latest launch Project 1011 is a stunning motor yacht that stands out in the sea of opulent sea vessels. This project has recently exited the construction shed at the Feadship facility in Makkum, marking a significant milestone in its journey to completion.

Designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design with naval architecture by Azure Yacht Design, Feadship 1011 is a masterpiece of luxury yacht design. Its clean-cut exterior lines and vertical bow give it a unique look and a strong personality. The yacht is also notable for its extensive use of exterior glass, which covers a whopping 1,100 square meters of the vessel. This includes twenty exterior sliding doors and twelve glass windbreaks.

The onboard amenities of Project 1011 are nothing short of opulent. There are four outdoor hot tubs and a swimming pool on the main deck for relaxing afternoons in the Mediterranean sun. The yacht also features a helicopter hangar under the forward helipad and eight hull doors, one of which leads to the largest tender garage door ever installed on a Feadship.   

This project has been realized under the guidance of a highly experienced owner, who was deeply involved in every detail of the design and construction process. The owner's previous yacht was a 6,000GT vessel, and he wanted the Feadship 1011 to offer similar amenities and living space but in a smaller, more manageable design. The resulting yacht is a testament to the possibilities of intelligent space planning and innovative design.  

The Feadship 1011's unique features also extend to its engine room. Unlike most yachts of this size, which typically have a two-tier engine room, the Feadship superyacht has a single-deck engine room. This innovative design allows for more interior volume to be devoted to guest use, something that is highly desirable for luxury charter yachts .

Offering a unique blend of stylish design, luxurious amenities, and innovative features, Feadship's Project 1011 is sure to provide an unforgettable experience. It is not yet known whether she will become available for luxury yacht charters.

Feadship’s New 285-Foot Hybrid Superyacht Will Have an Underwater Aqua Lounge

Superyacht builder Feadship today provided a first-reveal of its new 275-foot, 6-inch Project 710, remaining tight-lipped on specifics, but providing enough details to telegraph that this could be a breakthrough design.

The builder has pledged a 2030 goal of building “zero-emissions” superyachts. Project 710 will run its diesel generators on HVO, a second-generation biodiesel that manufacturers describe as a net-zero CO2 fuel. The boat’s sea trials will be with HVO, and it will be delivered full with the biofuel to its owner. The company claims CO2 emissions will be reduced by about 90 percent.

Technically, the boat could also be a breakthrough with the Advanced Electric Drive (FAED) program Feadship designed for its diesel-electric hybrid power. The boat will have no drive shafts or rudders, and will have 4.5 times more electrical storage than Feadship’s first hybrid yacht, the 274-foot Savannah , launched in 2015. Instead, the steering will be done through a pair of electric Veth contra-rotating thrusters.

The Feadship team also developed technologies to capture waste heat from the generators to supply heat to the AC system, domestic water and other “hotel loads,” independent from the propulsion. The boat will also have a heat-pump system that draws heat directly from the water.

The few details Feadship gave about the interior and exterior design are tantalizing, especially if the final product holds up to the superlatives.

The interior has signature features like an asymmetrical atrium staircase leading to a lower-deck dining salon, which offers a big reveal of an open wall connecting to a terrace just above water level.  The stern has an “Aqua Lounge” with windows below the water, and up in the bow, a space usually devoted to mooring, the vessel is a bow observation lounge with double-glassed, floor-to-ceiling windows. The aft-deck terraces do not have pillars, an impressive structural feat, for clear views of the water, while the design team also engineered glass through the entire main deck to give a sense of being closer to the ocean.

Feadship says Project 710 has been launched from its Aalsmeer yard and will undergo final outfitting before sea trials.

A colossal $20 million superyacht, owned by the billionaire head of a diamond company, has been sighted in the South West. The Sport, which was docked in Falmouth over the weekend, set sail for Plymouth in the early hours of Monday, September 9.

The 146ft vessel is said to be owned by Laurence Graff, the billionaire founder of Graff diamond jewelers. He is reported to have a net worth of $4 billion (£3.46 billion) and also owns the $140 million, 233ft superyacht Juice, which is currently sailing in the Mediterranean, as per Marine Traffic.

Previously known as Space, the Gentleman's Journal reported that she boasts a hot tub, steam room and numerous sun loungers, with an elegant and opulent design inside its five cabins. Built by Feadship in 2007, Sport can accommodate eight guests with nine crew members.

SuperYachtFan estimates the vessel to be worth around $20m (£15m) and costs approximately $2m per year to maintain. The luxurious yacht was custom-made for Mr Graff in 2007, founder of the renowned Graff jewellers and is certainly an impressive sight in the Barbican harbour.

However, it is overshadowed by its newer sister vessel, the $140m Juice.Larger in size and more luxurious, Juice can sleep 12 guests in six cabins, with a substantial crew of 25 staff. With an 8m swimming pool, sundeck gym and surround-sound cinema, it certainly justifies its $10m per year running costs.

Established in London in 1960, Graff is a jewellery company still chaired by its 86 year old founder, Lawrence Graff. Renowned for their creativity and superior craftsmanship, a ring from Graff could fetch anywhere between £900 and a staggering £245,000.

Interior Description

“Patience” sleeps six persons in three private cabins, excluding the main salon, with optional sleeping space in workroom.

She has a stunning interior that really has to be seen to be fully appreciated. (See the 3D Virtual Tour) She was designed and then customized around luxury, quality and functional elegance. The interior is truly gorgeous and maintained in show condition at all times.

Starting forward is VIP Stateroom with centerline queen berth.

Next aft to starboard is the Guest Cabin with a double berth.

The Guest Head is to port and features a separate shower stall and a separate door to the Vip Stateroom and another door that opens into the hallway. 

The huge raised Main Salon features large fixed ports, offering a panoramic view outside. To starboard is another  “L” shaped settee and dining table. Next aft is a desk and breakfast bar.To port is a  “L” shaped settee followed by a large Chart Table. Here is located the electronic switches for AC and DC Systems. A large flatscreen TV is located above and navigation instuments are outboard. An eight bottle wine cooler is located below.

Next aft and down two steps is the Galley. The galley on “Patience” will appeal to any cruising gourmet and is equivalent in size to what you'd expect on boats much larger. The galley provides ample counter space, cabinets and drawers for storage. Opposite the galley is the separate laundry room and complete walk-in workshop.

The en-suite Owner's Head has a separate stall shower/tub.

Charter yacht of the week: 62m Sea Owl reaches the upper echelons of family charter

A luxury superyacht that’s great for family charter; you may find that a huge proportion of the global fleet could cater to this, but there are a few that remain head and shoulders above the rest.

Sea Owl is one of those yachts. With whimsical interiors filled with fairy tale murals, a cosy fireplace and brilliantly themed cabins, Winch Design did a sensational job of making Sea Owl a magical place for the whole family. The interiors have been inspired by fairy tales and scholarly books including Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, while pirate themes and ornate features run through the yacht. At the time of commission, the designers worked closely with the owner’s family members to personalise each room and encourage the children to explore real and imaginary worlds.

The luxury charter yacht’s huge volume was also an important factor in the project’s success. Speaking about her design, Andrew Winch of Winch Design said that Sea Owl was among the most intricate projects he’d handled at that time. The sheer level of detail on board, including features such as a silk and wool carpet hand-knotted in Nepal, a Dale Chihuly chandelier made of Venetian glass and a basin carved like a gem from a single block of crystal, added to the complexity.

But it’s not just the aesthetics that place Sea Owl firmly in the family category. Every yacht for charter has strong security to keep all charterers, guests and crew safe on board. But for the original owners of Sea Owl , safety was of the utmost importance and the 62-metre yacht's systems are state of the art, with 360-degree cameras at the waterline and fingerprint-recognition keypads. Consultants worked closely with the shipyard up to the last few days before delivery, and while the effective and discreet system does not distract from the magic of the décor, it is one of the safest superyachts on the water.

Stepping on board, the full-beam main saloon is a good way to grasp Sea Owl' s splendour. Decorated in light, neutral colours, the sumptuous furnishings have an antique feel, but are less olde-worlde and more mesmerising and elegant in style. The space is flanked by large windows and opening sliding glass doors aft. Taking pride of place is a spectacular baby grand Steinway.

Dining space on board comes with an array of options, both out on deck and inside. The main dining table is set in front of a Venetian fresco and sits under a stunning Dale Chihuly Venetian glass chandelier.

On the lower deck is a pirate-themed room; next to this is another cabin with scenes from Alice in Wonderland . On the sun deck, a toothy shark grins down from the walls of a freshwater spa pool. As you walk around the charter yacht, more murals and pops of colour bring the themed approach alive.

The sun deck is partially enclosed to create a light-filled dining saloon with an adjacent pantry. The yacht also has a full-beam sky lounge that doubles as a movie theatre for cosy nights watching Peter Pan .

Life on board Sea Owl

Accommodation on board is for 12 guests across seven cabins comprising a master suite, three VIP suites, two children’s twins and a nanny or staff cabin. All guest cabins have en suite bathrooms and these are beautifully designed to fit the rest of the yacht’s theme. The owner's suite has its own office and lies behind closed doors. Its centrepiece is an exquisite copy of an 18th-century French desk by French furniture designer Serge Mirochnikoff, who created several other special pieces on board.

The central stairway features a mural, carved from Peruvian mahogany, of a magical tree. It rises four decks high in one continuous design, the roots grounded in the lower deck’s sole and the branches reaching out to the sun deck.

For those who want to keep up with the fitness regime, there is a well-stocked and spacious gym on board. For those who wish to learn while at sea, there's even a  classroom with a fold-out balcony.

Where will Sea Owl be cruising?

Sea Owl is available for charter with Northrop and Johnson with a weekly rate from $460,000. In the summer she’s over in the Med, cruising all of the hotspots including the French Riviera and the Amalfi coast. In the winter season, Sea Owl will be over towards the Americas and the Caribbean, the 62-metre will be cruising the Bahamas, Eleuthera Islands Nassau, Grenadines, the Windward Islands Exuma Islands, Anguilla, St Kitts, Abacos Islands and more.
