Wonderful time….
We had a wonderful experience sailing to Paxos and the surrounding coves etc. A simply stunning way to celebrate a friends 50th Birthday. The facilities on board were perfect, coupled with a friendly and attentive crew. I would 100% look forward to doing the same again one day soon !

Br illiant luxury boat day trip
Jul 2023 • Family
We booked the Sea Kid for a full day. Brilliant quick response to our initial enquiry, and then seamless booking experience. Was no trouble to collect us from our nearest harbour. We were greeted by George and Angel who looked after us amazingly well all day.
Supplied drinks and snacks and on our various lovely stops during the day got us organised with SUPs and sea bobs even booked and organised a lovely taverna for a lunch stop. The Sea Kid was a perfect boat for our group size of 8 including 4 large boys ! It had loads of space for everyone and a very cool looking boat to boot. Wouldn’t hesitate to Recommend

First class service on a luxury catamaran!
Aug 2023 • Friends
We chartered the NISI gtx55 catamaran yacht for a group of 15 friends and it was absolutely amazing. We decided to do a 4 hour sunset trip which took us to two different swimming spots and a nice view of the sun setting.
The staff were simply amazing and the boat was super nice. Everyone on board raved about how it was the highlight of our weeklong trip!

Corfu – Top yacht charter destination
Corfu is reminiscent of a James Bond-style island, with its glamorous nightlife and natural beauty – little wonder “For your eyes only”, the popular 1981 Bond movie, was shot here.
Everything about Corfu is heavenly. Its location in the northern part of the Ionian Sea, in close proximity to the Adriatic Sea, makes it a favoured yachting destination.
You are guaranteed to love Corfu’s spectacular beaches, imposing Old Fortress and New Fortress, looming over the horizon as you approach the Corfu town on your yacht, and lush vegetation, with its reported two-million olive trees growing on the island.
CORFU – Things to Do
Its architecture is exceptional, with Corfu town making it onto the Unesco World Heritage List – thanks to significant Italian and Venetian influence over the centuries.
Corfu is also a very cosmopolitan island, with celebrities and royalty happily living among the locals. While Corfu is home to about 10,000 British nationals, and is known as “the most British of all Greek islands”, it also attracts a number of other nationalities. More and more Germans, Russians, Scandinavians and others are coming to live in Corfu, beguiled by its natural beauty and vibrancy.
It’s also fairly large, so if you need a break from the bustling capital, you can escape to one of the many smaller towns and villages to enjoy some peace and quiet and authentic Greek hospitality. Try Paleokastritsa, some 25 km northwest of the capital or Molos, in the south – both attractive options.
Corfu’s scenery is bewitching, with sheltered bays that hide lovely beaches, historical wonders and gastronomical delights.
For all these reasons and others you will discover yourself, a sailing or motorboat vacation in Corfu is the prefect way to see it. Get in touch with your friendly Abberley yacht charter broker and our seasoned team will take care of everything you need to turn your next yachting holiday into an idyllic vacation.

Corfu island, ionian island, greece.
Written by Missy Johnston
Yacht charter in Greece should include one of the most northern of the Greek Ionian Islands. Corfu is an important and well known Greek Island and well worth visiting on a crewed yacht charter of the Ionian Islands in Greece. Corfu has an international airport, and therefore is a great island to begin or end a crewed yacht charter of the Ionian Island chain. With strong ties to the mythology and history of Greece, and strong ties to both the Venetian and British occupation of the island, Corfu is an exciting island to visit while cruising on a yacht charter in Greece.
Corfu Coastline
Corfu is said to be named after the beautiful mythological water nymph, Korkyra, with whom Poseidon fell in love, captured and brought to Corfu where their child, Phaiax, was born. Long after the fabled control of the island by Korkyra, Corfu, sitting off the northwest coast of the mainland of Greece was long controlled by the Venetians, and was the scene of numerous battles, and sieges, reflected today in the number of castles that dot the island country side and shoreline.
Corfu, Venetian Citadel Fortifications
Old Town Corfu, built by the Venetians on a peninsula separated from the rest of the island by a natural gully that was dug into a moat, is a labyrinth of streets behind fortified walls. This is a colorful fun area to wander with narrow streets and little shops. Behind the town is the Esplanade and Citadel with an arcade filled with little restaurants and bistros.
Corfu – Old Street in Old Town
Nearby are the Neo Frourio (the new citadel) and Palaio Frourio (the old citadel), both also built by the Venetians and open for visitors to wander and explore. Also, nearby is the Palaia Anaktora and gardens, once home to the King of Greece and now filled with museums surrounded by the beautiful gardens. And to the south of the city is the Achilleion, built by the Empress of Austria in the late 1800’s as a neoclassic tribute to Achilles, and now open to visitors as a museum.
The countryside of Corfu is dotted with olive trees and wildflowers and around the coastline are beautiful beaches with crystal clear water. Be sure to visit Paleokastrits Bay on the northwest side of Corfu overlooked by the 12th century monastery of Theotokos. Take the ship’s tender to explore the many caves washed into the shoreline of this bay filled with beautiful blue water.
While there are certainly Greek and Roman remains on Corfu, the overwhelming architectural style and feel is Venetian and neo classic as left from the Venetian and British periods of occupation. And surrounding all are the beautiful Greek waters with bays and anchorages to visit while on your crewed yacht charter in Greece in the Ionian Islands.
Corfu caves in Paleokastrits Bay
What to See and Do on Corfu Island, Greece
Explore the Grottos and Caves: By ship’s tender explore the many caves and grottos by sea that are all along the coastline with beautiful shades of blue green water within.
Corfu town: It is fun to explore the various walking streets of Old Corfu Town with its Venetian architecture, pop into shops, or perhaps stop for a cool drink, relax and people watch. Today a UNESCO World Heritage Site, be sure to visit Spianada Square.
The Governor Olive Oil Company and Tours: Five generations of the same family have worked this olive tree farm and produce a very good olive oil. Learn all about the production of olive oil from a walk through the groves to learn about growing and harvesting olives, along with a visit to a 15th century olive oil mill. Ending with a tasting of various grades of olive oils and flavored olive oils produced at the farm
Achilleion Palace: Once the home of Princess Elizabeth of Austria have a guided tour of this Neoclassical Palace, today a well-preserved imperial residence inspired by Greek mythology.
The Listion: Built by Napoleon in the Neoclassic style as barracks for his army during the French Occupation of Corfu. In its heyday only the aristocracy were able to be in this area of town. Today, the Listion is open to everyone to enjoy, perhaps at a café for a drink or to wander the shops.
Mon Repos: A small palatial estate, once the summer residence of a British official, which was then gifted to the Greek Royal Family. Birth place of Prince Phillip of England, husband of the Queen of England. Today the palace is the state archaeological museum.
Angelokastro or Angels Castle: Byzantine Fortress perched high on top of a hill where attacks by the Ottoman Empire were successfully and repeatedly rebuffed. Old Fortress: Corfu’s Old Fortress is situated on the Acropolis on a peninsula near Corfu Old Town. The Old Fortress was built by the Venetians from the early 15th century to the 18th century, although all that remains are castle walls built by the British. There are extensive tunnels beneath the stout walls of the castle.
New Fortress: Newer than the Old Fortress, this fortress is much smaller and was started two centuries after the Old Fortress. Consisting of two levels, the fortress is surrounded by a deep moat.
The Palace of St Michael and St George: Also known as the City Palace, this palace was the seat of the high commissioner in the 19th century and was later one home for the Greek Royal Family. The palace anchors one end of Spianada Square and was the first Neoclassical building built in Greece. There are extensive gardens looking out over the Old Fortress, and natural sea baths near the sea. Today the palace houses the Museum of Asian Art.

Choosing the right yacht involves considering several factors. Your decision should be influenced by the number of guests, the desired level of luxury, the type of sailing experience you’re looking for (e.g., adventure, relaxation, exploration), and any specific amenities you desire. Whether it’s a family vacation , a romantic getaway, or a corporate event, the variety of yachts available ensures that there is a perfect match for every need.

Best Times to Charter a Yacht in Corfu
The ideal period for yacht chartering in Corfu is between May and August, when the weather is most conducive for sailing and outdoor activities. During these months, the island enjoys a warm and inviting climate, with average temperatures ranging from a pleasant 23.8°C to 31.3°C. The humidity levels are comfortable, and the extended daylight hours, ranging from 14.4 to 14.9 hours, provide ample opportunity to explore Corfu’s natural and historical attractions. Additionally, the sea temperatures are perfect for water activities, gradually warming from 19.1°C in May to a delightful 25.7°C in August.
Conversely, November and December are less favorable for yacht chartering in Corfu. These months experience the heaviest rainfall, with average precipitation reaching up to 187mm, and increased humidity levels. Guide to Corfu
The sun-drenched gem of the Ionian Sea
The northernmost isle of the Ionian archipelago, Corfu is the perfect gateway to your idyllic yacht charter vacation. Boasting sparkling sandy coves, an abundance of ancient history, wild natural landscapes and delicious traditional foods, the strong multicultural influence from years gone by means there’s much to discover on this stunning cosmopolitan island.
Undoubtedly one of the best places to explore is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town. Nestled between two imposing fortresses, you’ll find yourself wandering through history and getting lost down the slender cobblestone lanes. You’ll spot majestic Venetian buildings, pastel-coloured homes along narrow streets, and numerous restaurants spilling out into the pathways.
Intriguing museums and noble palaces can be found here too, along with grand architecture such as the French-built Liston Promenade. Take some time to visit the stately Achilleion Palace, once a home for Austrian royalty, and Mon Repos, an estate with deep roots in Corfiot history and the birthplace of Prince Philip, now husband to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. There’s no shortage of cafes or restaurants in the Old Town, and you’ll soon find the winding alleys will open out onto bustling plazas, where you can pause in your explorations for lunch or a glass of wine.
If you can pry yourself away from the beautiful meandering streets of Corfu Old Town, you should make your way over to Vlacherna Monastery. Jutting out into the sea on it’s own tiny islet, the monastery is an iconic site and connected to the mainland by only a stone bridge. A quiet, charming place to spend some time, Vlacherna is open all year round to visitors who want a peaceful moment to sit amongst the cypress trees, or learn about it’s long history as a nunnery. There was also once a scene filmed there for the James Bond movie, ‘For Your Eyes Only’.
Spending time on this beautiful island without visiting a beach would be impossible and Corfu has over 100 for you to choose from. Cruise along the coastline to the other side of the island from Vlacherna Monastery, and you’ll discover Porto Timoni beach, a stunning and unique site that you should certainly take some time to enjoy. The beach is split down the middle by a strip of lush vegetation, giving visitors two glistening beaches to choose from.
The crystalline waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling, and if you visit early in the morning, you’ll be one of the only people there. If quieter beaches are what you search for, Paradise Beach is not far along the coastline from Porto Timoni and is only accessible by boat. Why not sail your charter yacht on the relaxed afternoon winds to one of the most exquisite beaches in Corfu, and revel in its unspoilt natural environment.
After a day basking in the sun, hunger is bound to strike and Greece is well-known across the world for it’s mouth-watering cuisine. Local Corfiot dishes can be found throughout the isle; expect mountains of fresh seafood and shellfish, alongside meat dishes that will typically be made with lamb. To enjoy a drink or meal while watching the sunset, head to the very northwestern tip of the island to a restaurant called 7th Heaven. Here you’ll have panoramic views out across the Ionian Sea and a spectacular sky of colours. For those with a taste for the finest cuisine, Etrusco Restaurant in the town of Dassia boasts a Michelin starred chef.
There are several strategically placed marinas in Corfu, allowing you chance to explore this island to its fullest potential. Some of them can accommodate large vessels up to 80m, such as the fully equipped Gouvia Marina. Petriti Marina welcomes vessels with a maximum length of 60m and is located near some of the best beaches in the area. Palaiokastritsa Marina can accommodate platforms up to 60m too, and is located relatively close to the city. Other marinas like Kavos Marina can only take a max length of 9m, but is the best place to berth to experience Kavos' renowned nightlife. Alternatively you could anchor in one of the many secluded coves for a chance to discover somewhere all to yourself.

Corfu Yacht Charter Enquiry
Hi Amanda! Sorry for taking this long to respond. Again, we all loved our time in the boat. Helios crew is superb and really make a difference! Here is my contribution. The boat setup is very good; I really like the equal sizes of the 3 master bedrooms. Internal decoration is good. The double berth rooms are ok for 3 kids if they aren’t grown ups, which is our case. The jetski was heavily used, and my kids had a blast. Nico was a great professor, and taught them all the radical tricks. They loved him! Finally, I would upgrade the AV to make it very easy to use iPods or cel phones, so customer can easily play their music. The food and drinks: We love Greek food, and the menu served was right on the spot. Their Greek wine selection was already good enough, but Babis surprised us with the wine from my previous list to Good life! Very nice from him! The itinerary: Can’t add anything to it. It was perfect! At the end, everybody loved everything. We are all looking forward to the next! M/Y HELIOS / Corfu / July 10 – 17

Tornado likely sank luxury yacht off coast of Sicily, officials say, as search for survivors continues
Updated on: August 20, 2024 / 7:56 PM EDT / CBS/AP
Police divers resumed searching Tuesday for six people believed trapped in the hull of a superyacht that sank in deep seas off Sicily, including a British tech magnate who was celebrating his recent acquittal on fraud charges with the people who had defended him at trial.
Civil protection officials said they believed the Bayesian, a 184-foot British-flagged yacht, had been struck by a tornado over the water. The ship had been moored about a half-mile offshore off Porticello near Palermo when a storm rolled and the vessel sank at about 5 a.m. local time on Monday .
Grainy film from closed-circuit cameras from shore, broadcast on the website of the Giornale di Sicilia, showed the majestic, illuminated 246-foot mast of the Bayesian weathering the storm and then disappearing over the course of a minute.
Fifteen of the 22 people aboard survived, including a mother who reported holding her 1-year-old baby over the waves to save her. One body was recovered, identified by officials as the Antiguan-born on-board chef. The rest of the 10-person crew survived, including the captain whom prosecutors reportedly sought to interview.
However, CBS News senior weather producer David Parkinson said Tuesday that it's still too early to determine whether the yacht was hit by a waterspout or a downburst. A waterspout is a meteorological term for a tornado over water, while a downburst consists of powerful winds that descend from a thunderstorm and can often be misinterpreted as a tornado, according to the National Weather Service.
As of now, Parkinson said, it's only safe to say that the yacht was impacted by a severe thunderstorm. Based on satellite imagery, there were strong to violent thunderstorms in the area where the yacht sank, Parkinson said.
That said, early Monday morning conditions were appropriate for either the development of a waterspout or a downburst, Parkinson explained. At around 4 a.m. local time Monday, the winds spiked, with wind gusts above 43 mph in Palermo. About 10 minutes later in the town of Aspra — which is 20 miles from Palermo and three to four miles west of where the boat sank — wind gusts of 51 mph were recorded, and the thunderstorms appeared to intensify as they moved east.
In cases of downbursts, when wind hits the water's surface, it increases the wind speed, Parkinson said. While at the time the boat sank, water temperatures were 84 degrees Fahrenheit, which would be warm enough to support the development of a waterspout, Parkinson said.
"It's a great, great tragedy," said Britain's ambassador to Italy, Edward Llewellyn, who visited Porticello on Tuesday. Britain sent four investigators to the scene, given the disaster involved a British-flagged ship and British citizens were among the missing.
Fire rescue officials have said the six other passengers will be considered missing until they are located in the wreckage. They include tycoon Mike Lynch , who was once hailed as Britain's king of technology and was cleared in June of fraud and conspiracy charges in a U.S. federal trial related to Hewlett Packard's $11 billion takeover of his company, Autonomy Corp.
Also unaccounted for are Christopher Morvillo, one of Lynch's lawyers, and Jonathan Bloomer, a chairman at Morgan Stanley International and the former head of the Autonomy audit committee who testified in Lynch's defense.
The wreckage of the luxury craft is some 164 feet underwater — far deeper than most recreational divers are certified for and a depth that requires special precautions. Recovery crews could only stay for 12-minute shifts, a measure that slowed their efforts to reach the cramped inside of the wreck.
Karsten Borner, the captain of the Sir Robert Baden Powell, which rescued the 15 survivors who managed to get into a lifeboat, said he was close enough to be able to see the Bayesian as the storm came in.
"A moment later, she was gone," he said. "They said they went flat on the water and were sunk in two minutes," Borner added, quoting the survivors.
The rotating search teams, each made up of two specialized cave divers, worked Tuesday to open up access points to get inside the wreck. They were using a remote-controlled underwater vehicle, or ROV, to help in the search.
The divers hadn't been able to access the below-deck cabins because they were blocked by furniture that had shifted during the violent storm. Rescue crews said they assume the missing six are in those cabins because the storm struck when most would be sleeping, but the teams haven't verified their presence there through portholes.
Luca Cari, a spokesman for the rescue teams, said the search was proceeding much more slowly than another big shipwreck in Italy, the 2012 Costa Concordia cruise ship that flipped on its side off Tuscany's coast, because of the depth of the wreck and the limited space divers have to maneuver.
"That was much simpler. Here everything is more tight," he said.
The outing was intended at least in part as a celebration of Lynch's acquittal and a "looking forward to what was coming next," said Reid Weingarten, a Washington attorney and a member of Lynch's defense team who was not on the yacht.
"A lot of people went, a lot of people were planning to go and then of course this happened," Weingarten said.
Some of the people who stood by Lynch throughout the ordeal were on board, including Morvillo, the lawyer, who Weingarten worked with and said "was like a brother."
Morvillo's wife, Neda, is also missing, according to his law firm Clifford Chance.
Aki Hussain, CEO of international insurer Hiscox Group, where Bloomer, the witness, was chairman, said the company was "deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic event."
"Our thoughts are with all those affected, in particular our Chair, Jonathan Bloomer, and his wife Judy, who are among the missing, and with their family as they await further news from this terrible situation," he added.
Among the survivors, the Emslie family was released from Palermo's pediatric hospital on Tuesday where little Sofia had been kept overnight after her rescue. Her mother, Charlotte Golunski, had reported that she momentarily lost hold of the 1-year-old in the water but then managed to hold her up over the waves until a lifeboat inflated and they were both pulled to safety, doctors said.
The father, identified by ANSA news agency as James Emslie, also survived.
"They don't talk much, primarily because they consider themselves survivors and they don't understand why they survived given what they went through," said Dr. Domenico Cipolla, head of the emergency room at Di Cristina Pediatric Hospital.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Cipolla said Golunski had reported that she and the baby were sleeping in the cabin and suddenly found themselves in the water, where they also found Emslie who had been in a different part of the ship. Cipolla said the parents had been in touch with other survivors, who are being housed at a nearby hotel and were waiting for other family members to arrive in Sicily.
The baby slept well overnight and all were released after final checks Tuesday morning, he said according to a videotaped interview posted on Palermo Today, adding that psychologists had been made available.
Among the other survivors was Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares. Hannah Lynch, reportedly the couple's 18-year-old daughter, is among the missing.
The yacht's registered owner is listed as Revtom Ltd., according to online maritime database Equasis. Bacares is listed as Revtom's sole owner, according to corporate registration documents from the Isle of Man.
Its name, Bayesian, may be a reference to "Bayesian Inference," one of the two main approaches to statistical machine learning and the one that was used by Lynch's company.
The yacht, built in 2008 by the Italian firm Perini Navi, was carrying 12 passengers and 10 crew. According to online charter companies, it had been available for charter for about $215,000 a week and was notable for its massive aluminum mast, one of the tallest in the world.
The coast guard said to date there was no trace of fuel leaks from the wreckage.
In an unrelated event, Lynch's co-defendant in the Autonomy trial who was also cleared, Stephen Chamberlain, was killed Sunday when he was hit by a car while running in Cambridgeshire, England, said Chamberlain's lawyer, Gary Lincenberg.
