Sail the Outer Banks with us on our 41 ft Gulfstar!  We sail from the downtown Manteo Waterfront located on Roanoke Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Our sail charters are sunset cruises and are available for 2-1/2 hours, with glorious sunsets over the water as we return to the Manteo Waterfront!    Enjoy a private sail charter with us, up to 6 guests,  sailing on the Roanoke and Albemarle Sounds.

And yes, a private sail charter means just that, it will be just you and your family/friends, we do not put other people on board 'to fill the boat up".  It's your cruise, your boat!  Feel free to roam about the boat while we are underway, we have found that couples really enjoy sitting on the foredeck under the genoa (forward sail), with only the sound of the breeze through the sails and the splash of water on the bow.

If you have interest in sailing the boat we enjoy letting people have a turn at the helm, adjusting lines, learning how to work the chart plotter and radar. Feel free to bring your own food and drinks, people usually will bring a cooler with them.  We are pet friendly! Sunset Sails return back to the Manteo Waterfront right at sunset, rates are $100 per person ($350 minimum) up to 6 guests. Call (252) 473-2719 for reservations. About the Boat

About the boat – “movin’ on”.

Enjoy our sailing cruise over the waters of the Albemarle Sound in our beautiful 41 foot Tartan offshore cruising Ketch, the “Movin’ on” . She’s roomy and comfortable, and whether you want to cruise to relax and sunbathe or participate in the actual sailing, she will treat you to a wonderful adventure. Maximum capacity per Coast Guard regulations is 6 passengers in addition to the crew.

Sunset Sailing Cruise – See the other side of the Outer Banks!

2.5 – 3.5 hours

Be sure to ask what time we cast off because the sun sets at different times all summer. Bring the whole family, your group, or your significant other. A great place to get engaged or celebrate anything. If the conditions are right you could be in for a spectacular sunset experience. You may bring your own refreshments and snacks along for the cruise; beer, wine, or champagne are welcome  (no bottled beer, cans only).

Daytime Sailing Cruise – See the other side of the Outer Banks!

Have your party ready to come aboard the Movin’ on for an afternoon sailing cruise. This sailing cruise casts the lines at 1:00 pm. Depending on the winds we may sail out of Shallowbag Bay into the Roanoke Sound between Kill Devil Hills, Colington Island and Nags Head. You should be able to enjoy views of Jockey’s Ridge, the northern end of Roanoke Island and Colington Island.

We have speakers available to play music, and we can offer stories and wildlife to see. Many times we get to enjoy the company of dolphins, turtles, pelicans and more. With only 6 passengers on board there’s plenty of space to kick back and relax. Whether you come alone, as a couple or as a group, the experience on this sailing adventure is warm, friendly and personal. What ever you do don’t forget your camera because the photo opportunities will be there for you every moment along the way. You may bring your own beer or wine (no bottled beer, cans only).

Private Trips are a great way to have the boat and experience to yourself. Many people will hire the boat for a proposal or a honeymoon sail… some have even gotten married during a cruise!

Yes! The bridge deck has plenty of shade.

We will be sailing in the Currituck Sound, known for great wind, beautiful coastline and very little boat traffic!

Yes! Nor’Banks provides clean and comfortable life vests for your entire party. We have plenty of children’s life vests in less than 30 lbs., 30-50 lbs. and 50-90 lbs. sizes. Life vests are required for children under 13.

Unfortunately your four legged friends will have to sit this one out.

Yes! You will have a captain and crew. If you’re interested in taking a turn at the helm, speak with your captain!

Surfer girl is certified by the coast guard for up to 18 passengers or 3000 pounds in addition to the captain and crew. This is a strict legal limit, regardless of the size of the passengers. We allow online booking for up to 15 passengers for your private cruise. If you believe that your group of 16-18 passengers plus gear is under 3000 pounds, please call to book your charter!

Yes! You are welcome to bring drinks and food.

Yes! You may bring beer and white wine. Please refrain from bringing red wine (it stains), liquor or glass beer bottles.

We require 48 hours notice for a refund. No refund will be issued within 48 hours unless inclement weather prevents your trip. Light wind or cloudy skies are not grounds for cancellation.

Yes! You can book up to a maximum of four hours. If you have any questions about how much time would be best for your group, please call us at 252-261-2900.

Yes, they do. The United States Coast Guard considers every person, except for the Captain and crew toward the 18 passenger limit.

We highly recommend arriving 30 minutes before your cruise is scheduled to depart. If you’re running late, please contact us and let us know.

We have a marine head aboard. We encourage you to use the restroom prior to departure.

Yes, your crew works for tips!  As with other service industries, tips are discretionary based on your satisfaction with the service provided by your captain and crew. A customary tip is 18-25% of your charter or ticket.

Sail aboard our new Maine Cat 38, Surfer Girl! The boat will be sailed by a U.S.C.G. certified captain and mate, so all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. Built to strict U.S. Coast Guard standards, Surfer Girl is comfortable and stable but also fast and exciting to sail.

You are welcome to bring your own beer, white wine, and snacks aboard. The forward trampolines are perfect for enjoying a drink as the sun dips below the horizon. Sail with us and see why Sail Magazine named Maine Cat 38 Best Multihull Cruising Boat under 40ft.

Surfer Girl  is available for 2-4 Hour Private Charters at Nor’Banks all summer long. We’ll tailor the sail to fit your group of up to 15 passengers with a relaxing sunset cruise or a day sail with a stop for swimming and diving from the boat or playing on our giant floating mat. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages!

On Your Cruise

During the trip we often see dolphin, turtles, pelicans and other wildlife. Light snacks are included along with great music, stories, and fun. With only 6 passengers on board there’s plenty of space to kick back and relax. Whatever you do, don’t forget your camera because excellent photo opportunities will be there for you every moment along the way.

Our Way Points

Depending on the winds we may sail down the western shore of the Outer Banks past Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk and Colington Island. Sometimes as far down as Jockey’s Ridge to watch kites and hang gliders fly. Then we may head west into the open waters of the Albemarle Sound for a chance at a spectacular sunset at the end of our cruise.

Reserve Your Sailing Charter On Cape Hatteras

Phillips Boatworks offers catamaran sailing charters on Hatteras Island in 2 hour and 4 hour experiences. We have a schedule that includes morning, afternoon, and sunset sails. Our most popular sails are the sunset sailing experiences. All our sails leave from our new location in Buxton at the historic fish house location in Buxton Harbor, 48926 NC Highway 12, Buxton, NC 27920

What is the advantage of a longer 4 hour sail? The 4 hour sailing experience offer more time for swimming and exploring off the sailboat. Our catamarans are lightweight performance boats that are easily beached. On the 4hr sails, we typically pull the boat up on a sandbar so that our guests can hop off the boat, take a swim, harvest some clams, and learn more about the local soundside marine life.

Why choose the shorter 2hr sail? The 2 hour sails are great for a relaxing sailboat ride. The scenery and experience is gorgeous. Because we sail, our tours are silent and perfect for videography, photography, and conversation. If you don’t need to hop into the water and just want to kick back and relax, the 2-hour sail is perfect for your group.

Crystal Dawn Head Boat

Looking to get out on the water? Crystal Dawn , docked at Pirate's Cove Marina on the Nags Head/Manteo Causeway, is a comfortable, 65-foot, double-decker party boat / head boat that's all about good times on the water. Whether you want to take the kids fishing in the sound and around Oregon Inlet or gather up your friends and family for a party cruise around Roanoke Island, they have got you covered. For sightseeing on the sound, Sunset Cruises are offered from 6 to 7:30 pm nightly in April, May, September and October. During the summer season in June, July, and August cruises are from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Along the way you'll see lighthouses, historic sites, working watermen and wildlife like birds and dolphin.  Crystal Dawn  is available for private charters for birthday and anniversary celebrations, bachelor and bachelorette parties, small weddings, school groups, ashes at sea ceremonies, family functions and more. Miss Oregon Inlet II Head Boat

Took the family and friends to this location to experience jet skiing.. Great experience, Great people, and a Great Time. Our guide took us to an open area where we can ride to our hearts content. We had experienced drivers to 1st time drivers. Five jet skis for 9 people. The place we were located is less than 4 feet of water in height. My whole family and friends had a great time. I will come her again when we are back in town. The front person greeted us with a smile and held our keys while we enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend them.

We went last week and took a jet ski tour. I found that it was the cheapest jet ski per hour and they had a tour so we did that instead. We got John as our tour guide and he was great. He took me and wife every where. I didn’t even know where we were LoL. He took us to see the light house. If you want to burn some gas he is the one to show you how. I think it was 1hr 30 minutes. It was so much fun. John knows where all these spots where. John was also so nice to my wife and I. My wife and I had so much fun. I can’t wait to book my next trip and take another tour.

My wife and I went on a jet ski tour last week and it definitely exceeded our expectations, to say the least. Our tour guide, Andy, was the best. He was very helpful and explained everything to expect. He also stopped at a few points along the tour to see dolphins that were next to us and explained to us a few interesting facts about OBX. We saw many different parts of the area from an entirely new perspective, which was more than we were expecting. We can't recommend this enough and we will be doing another tour when we return next year!

Took our family on the jet ski tour with Sarah. I highly recommend you do the tour. It includes a drive to the Bodie Island lighthouse, Wanchese, Manteo, under the Wright Bridge and Jockeys Ridge. The tour is approximately one hour and 50 minutes. We have been coming to Nags Head for 22 years and just now heard about the tour. Excellent experience and staff was super friendly. We got to meet the owner and he was very nice and full of information! Best family experience!

A few weeks ago, my family and I came to the beautiful Outer Banks for vacation after the COVID. We loved the friendly staff, they truly rock. Thank you to Nadia for being so patient with us and congrats for the baby! You were super sweet trying to help us get the best experience. The tour was fantastic with John. The owner gave us a deal and it was worth every penny, he also was so friendly and explained to us what to expect in the tour. We will come back again next year! Thank you guys! This team in causeway is awesome! See ya next time.

This is my first time jet skiing, and honestly, I couldn't be happier with my experience. The staff was amazing and very accommodating for how today turned out. Shout-out to Johnathan for being incredible. For those of you who want to try jet skiing, I can't recommend this place enough. I'm definitely coming back!

A fun & affordable hour.

The staff are super friendly and the jetskis are super fun. Generous riding area, pretty fast boats, and they don’t freak out and scream at you if you go a little wild and someone falls off. Just hop back on and continue having a blast.

Excellent Service & Worth the Visit

Absolutely fantastic time out on the water with tubes and more, I loved the Banana boat, the driver gave me the challenge I asked for and even made sure we understood the safety information for the tube, as well as any concerns with the sound (water) that day.

We had a great time learning how to sail and really appreciated the fact that they allowed others in our party to just enjoy the ride at no additional charge. Our instructor, Will, did a great job in teaching us the ropes.

Miss Oregon Inlet II Head Boat Fishing

Join the crew of the Miss Oregon Inlet II for an Outer Banks fishing trip for the whole family! Our head boat is a spacious 60 feet long and can hold up to 65 people. We run three trips a day and have everything you need to fish aboard the boat and you are covered under our fishing license. We are located at the famous Oregon Inlet Fishing Center.
