‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Is Returning for Season 5 After Gary King’s Sexual Misconduct Scandal

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Is Returning for Season 5 After Gary King Scandal

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is coming back for season 5 after Gary King’s sexual misconduct scandal.

Bravo announced on Monday, September 16, that the next season reunites Captain Glenn Shephard , chief stew Daisy Kelliher and Gary as they spend their charter season in Ibiza. The rest of the cast includes chef Cloyce Martin , chef engineer Davide Morosi , stews Diana Cruz , Danni Warren and deckhands Keith Allen and Emma Crouch .

The upcoming installment comes more than one year after Below Deck Sailing Yacht wrapped up its fourth season on Bravo in July 2023.

Gary’s future as a cast member has been up in the air, however, since a production assistant from the show accused him of making unwanted advances while filming season 4.

In a Rolling Stone exposé, which was published in October 2023, Samantha Suarez and other former employees, who asked to remain anonymous, accused Bravo of allegedly helping cover up Gary’s inappropriate behavior.

“It was insane. There were multiple incidents of sexual harassment in front of multiple producers after this person had been given verbal warnings multiple times,” one of the accusers alleged. “I had to promote and make this guy who just assaulted someone look awesome. That was my job, to make this person look cool, capable and exciting.”

Samantha recalled being asked to look after Gary when he allegedly got drunk. Once filming wrapped, Samantha remained with Gary in his hotel room before he tried to stop her from leaving by pressing himself against her. Samantha alleged that Gary refused to let her leave until she started to fight back.

According to Samantha, she alerted producers about the incident , who told Gary to sleep on the boat on days when the crew wasn’t filming as a way to keep him out of the hotel.

Bravo addressed the allegations in a statement to Rolling Stone , saying, “Bravo is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for cast and crew on our reality shows. We require our third-party production companies to have appropriate workplace policies and trainings in place and a clear process on how to report concerns. The concerns Ms. Suarez raised in July 2022 were investigated at that time and action was taken based on the findings.”

Gary has maintained his innocence since news broke about the claim. “I know [that I did nothing wrong], and I know the truth but it still hurts when people will tell lies to bring you down,” he replied to a fan via Instagram one month later.

That's because returning costars Daisy Kelliher and Gary King are anything but friendly after their failed boatmance in E! News' exclusive first look at the Bravo series' fifth season.

Following Daisy, Gary and BDSY alum Colin MacRae 's messy love triangle , Daisy is still reeling from the complicated and dramatic fallout from last season.

"Going into this season, I got rid of some dead weight," the newly single Chief Stew says in the trailer. "The breakup did a number on me last year. I felt very broken. But now, I'm coming back in more focused, full of energy and I'm f--king good at my job. And I'm taking back the reigns."

Despite her initial confidence about returning to the Parsifal III , Daisy adds, "It's gonna be a s--t show."

Cut to the Ireland native yelling at Gary, "Guess what? We have a f--king job to do and I'm not f--king carrying this season on my own, you f--king pr--k!"

But luckily for Daisy, the preview teases her quickly moving on with new Deckhand Keith Allen , who tells Gary, "Daisy would make a very good wife. No?"

As for Gary's response, he bursts out laughing at the crewmember's declaration.

However, Daisy feels the same about Keith and tells him, "You're the kind of person I've never met before."

And when it comes to this season's charter guests, the yachties have too much of a good time with one group on shore.

After a night out, Captain Glenn Shephard warns the team, "You guys went out with some guests, I set some ground rules. Two drinks maximum. You knew the rules, you broke the f--king rules, and now you're here getting upset."

Captain Glenn Shephard

Capt. Glenn and his expert crew set sail on Parsifal III to the luxury party capital of the world, Ibiza. While Ibiza is known for its sunny day parties and crystal-clear coast, it’s stormy waters ahead for the crew as they navigate blossoming boatmances, competitive co-workers and tense personal dynamics, all while trying to raise the bar every charter.

Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher

After a distracting love triangle last season that took her focus away from work, Daisy is ready to take the reins back in the interior department with a new sense of energy and determination. However, plans for a stress-free charter season are threatened when her stews question her leadership.

First Mate Gary King

On deck, Gary attempts to keep his team motivated as one crew member struggles to learn the ropes.

Chef Cloyce Martin

In the galley, Chef Cloyce charms the crew and guests but at only 22, he may be too inexperienced to meet the demands of the high-maintenance charter guests.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Trailer Revealed: ‘Cheers To Being Dramatic’

Batten down the hatches. The trailer for Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 just arrived. It’s messy, and as expected, we will soon see the faces of Daisy Kelliher and Gary King back onboard. When these two yachties last saw each other, they were at odds, and as Season 5 teases, not much has changed.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Trailer looks promising, in all the messy, dramatic ways

“Going into this season, I got rid of some dead weight ,” Daisy explains at the start of the trailer. “The breakup did a number on me last year. I felt very broken. But now, I’m coming back in more focused, full of energy, and I f*cking good at my job. And I’m taking back the reigns,” she quips, like a boss bish.

“It’s gonna be a sh*t show,” Daisy continues, as the cameras expertly cut to her yelling at Gary, the literal definition of her words. “Guess what? We have a f*cking job to do, and I’m not f*cking carrying this season on my own, you f*cking prick!”

Luckily for Daisy, a new beau is onboard to help distract her from last season’s love triangle mess . Deckhand Keith Allen catches her eyes, and it seems her affections are shared, as Keith asks Gary, “Daisy would make a good wife. No?”

Gary laughs. But Captain Glenn Shephard is not laughing, as several beats later, his crew entertains their charter guests a bit too hard on land.

“You guys went out with some guests. I set some ground rules. Two drinks maximum. You knew the rules, you broke the f*cking rules, and now you’re here, getting upset,” a frustrated Captain Glenn tells his team, as Daisy later states that she is “f*cking done.”

There’s also blood , broken dishes, a fire, and lots more. But sadly, there is no Colin MacRae .

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 premieres on Monday, October 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Below deck sailing yacht: producers not firing gary king for his bad behavior proves the show doesn't care about its cast, is married at first sight changing its approach & format with season 18 (the premiere date has finally dropped).

  • Gary King faced controversy in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, dealing with drama and accusations from cast members.
  • Despite allegations of sexual misconduct, Gary has continued filming for season 5 of the show, causing scheduling conflicts.
  • Gary's relationship with Daisy has sparked dating rumors, but the true nature of their connection remains unclear.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4's Gary King has been a controversial part of the series, especially in the most recent season, leading many to wonder what he's up since the show. Gary's a lifetime yachtie, and considering his longevity in the field, he has made some massive achievements before his time on Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Known for his cavalier attitude and playboy ways, Gary has caused quite a stir as he moved through Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 , especially in his relationships with Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae.

After wading through the drama of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4's reunion, which saw Gary up against Daisy, Colin, and Mads Herrera as he tried to defend his actions, Gary has been taking some time away. For Gary, the accusations were difficult to broach as they've been following him for the past few seasons. While Below Deck Sailing Yacht touched on Gary's behavior, the series had never been clear about his actions until the most recent season. Gary's life after Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 has been changing, and many are looking to keep up with him.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Gary Appeared On An Episode Of Project Runway

Gary used his bravolebrity status.

After a difficult season of BDSY, Gary was excited to appear on an episode of Project Runway alongside several other Below Deck personalities including Daisy and Below Deck Down Under 's Aesha Scott . Gary appeared in a crossover episode of the reality competition series that asked its contestants to recreate, modernize, and elevate the standard uniform for the yacht crew. As the cast of Project Runway ran with their options, the Below Deck alums were able to try on prototypes and offer feedback. It was something Gary explained he "would do it again in a heartbeat" on his Instagram.

Gary & Daisy Dating Rumors Have Been Consistent

They were together in july 2024.

Screenshots shared from Daisy and Gary's Instagram accounts on Reddit sparked dating rumors in July 2023 because they were staying at the same hotel. Reddit user u/Radiant_Sign4112 shared photos of the pair that were clearly taken at the same hotel, and while some posited that it was simply due to their Below Deck Sailing Yacht filming schedule, others had a relationship in mind. With Daisy moving on from her relationship with Colin and investing in her long-time friendship with Gary, it's possible the pair got into more romantic territory and spent their downtime together at a luxury hotel.

From there, Daisy and Gary didn't make any waves to suggest that they had carried on a relationship. However, the rumor mill is back in July 2024, as Daisy recently made a post with many pictures together with a now-short-haired Gary. Daisy seemed unbothered and flirty with Gary in the pictures. Daisy did not confirm that she and Gary had anything romantic going on, but the pictures are a clear indication of her fondness for Gary despite his egregious reputation.

"Dude how are you pumping up Gary here after he was accused of sexual assault?" a commenter question on the Instagram post.

Gary Has Been Accused Of Sexual Misconduct

Below deck sailing yacht season 5 has been filmed.

In August 2023, there were sexual misconduct allegations against Gary brought forth by Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 makeup artist Samantha Suarez. She claimed Gary was sexually inappropriate with her by grabbing her from behind and trying to block her from leaving his hotel room while she was on the job. Gary has denied the allegations saying that there are two sides to every story. No action was taken against Gary by the Bravo network, but he was removed from the celebrity list at BravoCon.

Although he was slammed for his behavior in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 and for the sexual misconduct allegations, it seems like Gary was still a cast member and already filmed the show's upcoming fifth season throughout the summer months of 2023. While Gary has been busy, the rest of the cast has been equally busy and hasn't been able to share much about what they're up to, which has led many to believe that Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has been filming and completed.

With Gary a huge part of the Below Deck world, it would be a shock to see him off the show for its upcoming charter season. However, Gary's controversial behavior and the claims against him have thrown the Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's schedule into flux. The show was supposed to air after Below Deck season 11 ended in late May 2024. Instead, Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 aired despite Below Deck Med having just finished airing season 8 in early 2024.

The schedule change could mean that Gary was indeed part of the BDSY season 5 cast and that the Bravo network is scrambling to either edit him out or film a new season without him entirely before Below Deck Sailing Yacht premieres again. Either way, Gary is the seeming cause of the show's absence. However, Gary seems unrelenting in his desire to continue in the franchise and showcase his continued relations with Daisy.

Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.

Gary and Daisy's Relationship Has Endured Rough Waters on 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'

Haylee Thorson - Author

Updated June 6 2023, 12:12 p.m. ET

The relationship between Gary King and Daisy Kelliher from Below Deck Sailing Yacht hasn't been easy for either of them. Or, for Colin MacRae, Daisy's Season 4 love interest.

After Daisy and Gary entered the Below Deck universe in 2021, fans of the Bravo series have continuously speculated that the reality stars are more than friends. And they aren’t the only ones who see their dynamic that way.

Gary has spoken out about his and Daisy's connection and their past is a big part of their storyline in Season 4. Especially since Daisy is ready to move on. Let’s dive into Gary and Daisy’s relationship timeline and how they ended up where they are today.

Gary and Daisy’s relationship timeline started out rocky during Season 2 of ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht.’

The chief stew and first officer first graced fans' screens in 2021 when the second season of the Below Deck spin-off series debuted on Bravo. However, the duo did not hit it off right away.

Despite holding separate job responsibilities, Gary and Daisy’s personalities frequently clashed during their time in Season 2. So much so, the Irish reality star revealed during her first Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion that she didn’t know if she would want to be co-workers with Gary again.

“You clearly hated me and thought I was a giant b--ch,” the chief stew told the New Zealand native. However, Gary denied the allegation and explained that he only said that she was “ acting b--chy.”

Gary and Daisy’s relationship turned passionate during Season 3 of ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht.’

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Gary King (@king_gk)

While it’s no secret Gary and Daisy’s relationship started rocky during Season 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , their dynamic shifted significantly during Season 3.

When the Bravo stars reunited for their second stint on the reality series, they engaged in a steamy makeout session in the hot tub during a night out.

The kiss was so passionate that Gary and Daisy almost slept together that night. But despite the palpable sexual tension between the two, the co-stars continued insisting that there was nothing romantic happening between them.

In fact, Daisy revealed on her Instagram story in January 2022 that she didn’t remember the kiss at all. “No one’s mind was more blown than mine the next day,” Daisy admitted, per Us Weekly . “I have no recollection of that kiss.”

Gary revealed that he and Daisy hooked up in the ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Season 4 mid-season trailer.

After being caught in a love triangle with Gary and Colin MacRae during Season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , the first officer revealed shocking information during the mid-season trailer that altered his relationship with Daisy.

When Gary got jealous about the chief stew’s hook-up with the chief engineer, Daisy immediately put him in his place. “You f---ing could have had me a million times over, and you didn’t want me,” she said in the trailer. “Now you can’t have me, and now you f---ing want me?”

Then, Gary dropped the ultimate bombshell. “Having sex with you was f---ing amazing,” he told her.

When Daisy realized that cameras picked up on the first officer’s comment, she tried silencing Gary so he wouldn’t spill any more secrets about their relationship.

And when Colin learned that his new flame hooked up with the Below Deck Sailing Yacht star, he couldn’t help but comment. “The chemistry they have and the way they look at each other — I thought it was all friends,” the chief engineer admitted. “It all makes sense now.”

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.

The breakout star of Bravo’s next reality TV juggernaut is ready to settle down. Almost

You wouldn’t know it from watching “Below Deck Sailing Yacht,” but Gary King likes to have space to himself. Before he starts the summer charter season, he likes to book a hotel room for a few days. “If I can have my own space, and just relax a little bit, it makes the season a lot easier,” says the 33-year-old via video chat from a hotel room in Sardinia he’s booked for precisely this purpose.

King, who is from South Africa, has just finished a day of work aboard Parsifal III, the 177-foot sailing yacht that provides a setting for some of the most outrageous antics in the Bravo universe .

Each show in the dangerously habit-forming “Below Deck” franchise follows the hard-partying crew members and demanding guests aboard yachts in exotic destinations around the world, from the Caribbean to the South Pacific. Now in its third season, “Sailing Yacht” is arguably the most dramatic incarnation of “Below Deck,” thanks to tighter living quarters, wind-tossed working conditions and adventure-hungry crew members.

King, who joined “Sailing Yacht” in Season 2, has become the show’s breakout star, a mischievous charmer with a tousled man bun and a husky smoker’s voice who is almost bafflingly irresistible to his female co-workers. (King has hooked up with nearly all the women in the Parsifal III crew as they sailed the Balearic Islands of Spain this season, but his abundant chemistry with plucky chief steward Daisy Kelliher is what has viewers in a frenzy.)

In other words, King makes for great TV. But he also happens to be very good at his other job, as the Parsifal’s first mate; this season viewers saw King spring into action when the yacht nearly ran aground during an early morning wind storm.

A couple standing by a dinghy by the shore

King has always gravitated to the water. Growing up in Knysna, a city in South Africa known for its large lagoon, he’d often hitchhike to the beach after school. “My mom would come and pick me up after work. I’d see her sitting in a car when it was getting dark flashing her lights at me,” he recalls. He became a “yachtie” by accident: During a gap year in Majorca, he learned quickly the South African rand doesn’t go very far in Europe. Unwilling to ask his mom, a single parent, for money, he decided to go “dock-walking.”

“It’s the most demoralizing thing in the world,” he says. “You go from one boat to another: ‘Hi, do you have work for me?’ ‘No.’ ‘Hi, do you have work for me?’ ‘No.’” Eventually, he got a job on Creole , “a lovely old classic schooner built in 1927,” and he hasn’t looked back since. “I kept getting paid to travel and I was making good money. Here I am, 12 years later.” King says the hardest part of yachtie life is being a hemisphere away from his family: His mom is in South Africa, his brother in New Zealand.

The job also makes it hard to settle down — something King swears he wants to do sooner rather than later. Mostly, though, he’s eager to film more “Sailing Yacht,” should the powers-that-be at Bravo decide to bring him back for another sail. (The network has not yet made any announcements about Season 4; King says he didn’t get the call about Season 3 until a few weeks before it began filming.)

How ‘The Real Housewives’ glam arms race gets its cast into hot water

Bravo’s glittery reality franchise has always encouraged competitive consumption. But cast members’ financial ‘smoke and mirrors’ can lead to trouble.

June 22, 2021

Tell me how you ended up on “Below Deck Sailing Yacht.” Had you heard about the show before you were cast?

If you work on boats, you hear about “Below Deck,” but I don’t actually watch any reality TV to be honest. I’d never watched the show prior to getting cast.

There’s a woman named Diana Wallace. She’s the casting agent. She joins yachtie pages all over Europe and the States. And then she just sends [messages] out to random people. So I received a few messages from her asking me to be on the show. I was like, “It’s COVID. What’s the worst that can happen?” Never thought I was gonna get the job. Done two seasons and never looked back.

Do you watch the show now?

Some episodes. I send them to my mom. She’s my number one fan and my number one critic, so she’ll let me know which episodes I have to watch. She’ll be like, “Gary, I wasn’t very happy with you on that episode.” Then I go watch it and see what I did wrong. My mom’s proud of me but she’s also like, “Gary, come on. This is not how I brought you up.” Obviously, I’m a mother’s boy.

What has been the hardest thing for you to watch back?

Just hooking up with girls on TV. It’s a little bit cringe. Also just getting drunk on TV. It comes with the industry. We need to blow off some steam. But I don’t think it’s a very good look, us being so pissed while on TV.

How do the yachties on the show compare to those in real life? Is everyone really as crazy as they are on “Below Deck”?

I think the yachties in real life are a lot crazier than they are on “Below Deck.” If “Below Deck” actually knew exactly what went on on boats, this show would go on for thousands of episodes.

So you think “Below Deck” is tamer than real life?

To a certain extent, yes. There are some things that are far-fetched [on the show], like the charter guest, Chuck [who said he could get better food at a ballpark and left a terrible tip]. You wouldn’t really have a charter guest that would say something like that, because these people have got class, and [outside of the show] they’re paying upwards of $200,000 a week to charter this boat. But how the crew parties afterwards — that’s pretty accurate. I’ve heard stories that I don’t really want to share but are a lot worse than what happens on “Below Deck.”

So the guests in real life are not as bad as the ones on Bravo?

As a rule. On sailing boats, I think the guests have got more class. They come from old money. But friends that have worked on motorboats, some of the stories they’ve told me it’s like, “How could you even work on that boat?” But a charter’s a charter. You work for a week, you kind of forget all the bull— that happened because you’ve got a €5,000 tip.

A group of people on the deck of a yacht

How would you describe the difference between people who work on sailing yachts and people who work on motor yachts? Are there stereotypes about these groups?

People on a motorboat, they’re just there for the paycheck. Any motorboat you work on is pretty much the same. Whereas in a sailing boat, we’re out there for the adventure. We’re going from A to B sailing, getting propelled by the elements. And I find the clientele come for the experience on a sailing boat. If you’ve got money, any Tom, Dick or Harry can go charter a motorboat.

Do you get this attention from women when you are on dry land?

Well, clearly not, because I’m still single. I don’t know what it is about the boats.

It’s a tough industry for relationships.

For sure. I was actually chatting to Glenn [Shephard, the captain] today about going on rotation [after the summer charter season is over], maybe do three months on, three months off, so I can start settling down, try and meet someone. I can’t really commit to anyone when I’m going to leave in a week’s time. I’m starting to wig out about it: Am I going to be single for the rest of my life? I grew up without a father, and I want to make sure that I’m there for my kids, if I ever have the chance to have kids one day.

Fans are definitely shipping you and Daisy, as you surely know. What’s going on between you two?

I’ve definitely got a soft spot for Daisy. We still chat often. When I was in London, we had lunch together. We have a great relationship. But also, after watching that episode where she told the charter guests, “I would never date Gary. I’m not an idiot,” that hurt me a little bit. This is maybe my problem. When I like a girl, they don’t feel the same way for me. And vice versa. Because that’s what happened with me and Ashley this season. That’s another reason why I keep thinking, “Am I going to be single for the rest of my life?”

So you were genuinely hurt when she said that?

100%. I’m not gonna force anything to happen between Daisy and I. I definitely have chemistry with her, whether she agrees with that or not. But things like that [comment] hurt a little bit. Maybe she was just trying to make a joke in front of the charter guests. I just think her wording could have been different if it was a joke.

Do you think maybe she was being defensive?

Possibly, I don’t want to look too much into it. But I’m single. I’ve got a lot of time to think about things.

A lot of viewers were upset by your encounter with Ashley Marti and thought her behavior towards you constituted sexual assault because you were drunk. You have repeatedly said that you don’t feel this way. But did that incident make you reflect on the hook-up culture in your industry and the difficulties of drawing boundaries when you live and work with people in such close quarters?

I’m not proud of all my actions [this season]. And I don’t ever want to do that again. That Ashley scenario was a big realization for me.

I want the next girl who I start hooking up with to maybe be my girlfriend. I haven’t had a girlfriend for five years now. I can’t remember what it feels like. I don’t want to just hook up with girls and have one-night stands. I say that now, but if I come back for another season, who knows what will happen. [laughs]

There must be some tension there for you — trying to be a better person but also wanting to be entertaining .

I’d like to [come back for another season] because then I could show people that I have turned over a new leaf and there is a different side to me than just hooking up with chicks. Most of my best friends are females. But on Instagram , people say I’m a womanizer, which is the furthest thing from the truth.

Are there things you do differently when the cameras aren’t there?

We definitely wouldn’t sail before they’ve had breakfast. That’s ridiculous. But also, the charter guests on [the show] only have three days, two nights. They’re still paying a lot of money to be on the boat. They want to sail as much as possible.

I don’t hook up with my stewardesses off-camera [that much], believe it or not. It’s happened once or twice, but it’s not like it happens on the TV show. Also, we don’t go out every three nights, because we’ll have a 10-day charter, and then [a few days for] turnaround, then a seven-day charter. We’ll be lucky if we can all go ashore to have a dinner and have a few glasses of wine.

Colin MacRae, Barnaby Birkbeck and Gary King in "Below Deck Sailing Yacht"

What’s your favorite place to sail?

I absolutely love Greece. There is always wind. You can always find an island that has no one else around. The water is beautiful. The food is just phenomenal.

Glenn has a very interesting leadership style compared to some of the other captains in the “Below Deck” universe, who are a bit tougher. How would you describe it?

Glenn is very gentle. But also I’d say Glenn leads by example. If someone makes a mistake, Glenn would be the first person to say, “Listen, you make mistakes, you’re only human.” He’s just so patient and so humble. I think everyone needs a Glenn in their life, to be honest with you.

You and Colin have a very entertaining rapport.

We are like chalk and cheese. He’s very sensible and I’m not. He thinks before he speaks; I don’t. I think we both live vicariously through each other, me doing silly things, and Colin being the sensible person who I can always look up to. I actually just spoke to him yesterday, telling him I miss him. It’s such a bromance. As soon as we chat, it’s like, “Hey, loser. How’s it going?”

It seems like you and Daisy clashed at first but really grew fond of each other this season. Is that just the editing or did it feel that way to you as well?

I don’t know if both of us were in denial about liking each other. But it was like two little kids, when they like each other, they fight like cats and dogs. I’m still trying to work that one out, to be honest. But it was my highlight coming out of the season, being such good friends with Daisy. It means a lot to me. If it has to happen between Daisy and I — not that I’m saying it will — but if it has to happen, then so be it.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King breaks silence after BravoCon removal

Gary King on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King has broken his silence after he was removed from BravoCon amid some serious allegations.

In August, news broke that a Below Deck Sailing Yacht production team member had accused Gary of sexual misconduct.

A month later, Gary was taken off the list of yachties attending BravoCon , an event he was a fan favorite at last year.

BravoCon takes place this weekend, with Bravoleberties taking on Las Vegas.

Ahead of the three-day event, Gary shared his first message in months that made quite a statement.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Gary King breaks silence after BravoCon removal

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Gary shared a post of him posing in a field of Daisies in South Africa. Gary has a serious look that’s a vast difference from how Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers see him on the show.

“It’s sad that people will do anything in their power to bring you down. It’s not about how you fall but how you get up. Luckily for me the fall was into a sea of daisies 🌼,” was the caption on Gary’s IG post.

It wasn’t just the caption that alluded to the allegations against Gary. The hashtag spoke volumes about how Gary feels about being dismissed from BravoCon and the claims made.

Gary called the allegations against him a lie, told people not to believe everything they see, and called out the media. He also declared he wouldn’t do what he was being accused of doing and that Gary continues to hold his head up high.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht star also used hashtags for the show and shared he’s moving on. Gary didn’t get into specifics of what that means.

However, there’s no question that the timing of his first social media message in months was to address his BravoCon absence.

Gary has earned support from some of his costars since the allegations broke.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht stars show support for Gary King amid scandal

The comments section of Gary’s post showed not all of his former crew members had abandoned him during this time.

Captain Glenn Shephard became very close with Gary after they filmed Season 2 of the sailing show. They work together on Parsifal III even when the cameras aren’t rolling.

The captain was one of the first to pop up with emojis that kicked off an exchange of bro love between him and Gary.

Season 4 chef Ileisha Dell also showed her love for Gary as the two had a little back-and-forth to reveal they are still friends.

Gary King from Below Deck Sailing Yacht won’t be at BravoCon and has addressed his absence the day before the big fan event.

As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Captain Glenn, Colin MacRae, and Daisy Kelliher will all be at BravoCon. No doubt, the three of them will be asked about Gary at some point.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is currently on hiatus on Bravo. Seasons 1-4 are streaming on Peacock.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Seaon 5 trailer teases a Daisy romance, less Gary, no Colin, major firing, and more

Finally, after months of waiting for Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 news, we have it, and it’s good.

Bravo released the highly anticipated trailer for the sailing show, along with a premiere date.

There’s so much to unpack in the first-look footage that it left us feeling like Season 5 just might be even more jaw-dropping than Season 4.

The last season fractured the friendships of Daisy Kelliher , Gary King, and Colin MacRae, who all helped make Below Deck Sailing Yacht a mega-hit show.

Colin isn’t back for another season, but Gary and Daisy are, with the past season impacting their working environment.

Aside from the Gary and Daisy drama, we see Captain Glenn Shephard, like never before, losing his s**t on the crew more than once for very good reasons.

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 trailer

Daisy is the focal point of the trailer, as it seems the powers that be are making her the star in the aftermath of the sexual misconduct scandal allegations against Gary.

The chief stew finds herself hooking up with a deckhand that could be more than just a boatmance.

It seems that the new chef is going to be a major problem on Season 5. Daisy and the chef butt heads when she refuses to serve his food because, well, it looks like crap.

The party vibe of Ibiza brings many challenges for Captain Glenn and his crew. Not only with unruly guests but also the crew crossing the line by partying with guests.

Captain Glenn sets ground rules for the crew, which are ignored, leading to him unleashing his fury on them. The captain even wakes up the crew at one point after a disastrous crew night out.

Other teasers include another near-boat crash for Parsifal III that makes it seem like Gary may be the one who saves the day. Speaking of Gary, he’s in the trailer, but there’s definitely less of him, and not a single Gary hook-up is featured.

What is featured is a fire, a bloody nose, plenty of drunk falls, and Captain Glenn firing someone. The way it’s set up, too, the teaser definitely wants us to think Captain Glenn fires Daisy or Gary.

When does Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 premiere?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans will have to tune into Season 5 to find out who Captain Glenn fires, as well as if Daisy what happens with Daisy’s budding romance.

The good news is that the sailing show is back in less than a month. Season 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht premieres on Monday, October 7 at 9/8c.

Below Deck Med Season 9 wraps on Monday, September 23, which means we are either getting a reunion or a Captain Sandy Yawn wedding special on Monday, September 30.

Who Is Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Gary King?

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' cast member Gary King sitting on boat

The first episode of Season 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht aired on Bravo on March 1, and viewers were introduced to an (almost) entirely new cast during the show's premiere.

One of the new cast members of the hit Below Deck  spin-off series is first mate Gary King, who made a bit of a splash after he discussed his relationship status and his policy on hooking up with fellow crew members with new castmates, Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux and Colin Macrae.

"I live by one thing, though," King tells Macrae and Cerza Lanaux. "That you don't screw the crew."

Gary King's bold admission is a shock to his crew members — all of whom are single , including himself.

After the season premiere, fans of the show are curious to know more about the man who reportedly refuses to hook up with his fellow crew members — keyword: Reportedly, as previews for the season show King caught up in a love triangle with crew members Alli Dore and Dani Soares (via YouTube ).

Gary King's travels have taken him all over the world

Season 2 cast of 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'

One scroll through King's Instagram will show you that the man lives for traveling!

His earliest posts date back to the summer of 2013, and it should come as no surprise that King has been sailing and traveling around the world for years (via Instagram ).

On his page, he's chronicled his adventures in Spain, Greece, Cuba, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, and more.

While it's quite obvious King has a love of the ocean and all things traveling, he's also a total family man and is a softie when it comes to spending time with his adorable little niece, who he occasionally posts pictures of.

And, regardless of the drama the highly-anticipated second season of the show reportedly brings, it looks like King and his fellow crew members had the time of their lives filming.

"Can not believe it's less than a month until you can catch all us crazies doing what we do best on #belowdecksailing. You honestly don't want to miss seeing what we got up to!!" he wrote in an Instagram post on Feb. 2, less than a month before the Season 2 premiere.

"Couldn't have asked for a better crew to share this experience with. Love and miss you all :)," he ended the sweet caption.

You can catch Below Deck Sailing Yacht on Bravo on Mondays at 9 p.m. EST.

Is  Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's Gary a hero, a villain, or just a very capable first mate?

Discussing the franchise's greatest mystery: Why do all the women love this guy?

sailing yacht gary

Do you like Below Deck ? If so, does every week suddenly feel like Christmas? Currently, there are two weekly spin-offs of the luxury-yacht franchise about rich vacation goons and the snarky accented models who hate serving them. While Peacock subscribers (anyone?) bask in Below Deck Down Under , Bravo has Below Deck Sailing Yacht on Mondays. In its third season, Sailing Yacht is the crown jewel. This is not entirely because of Gary, but it is significantly because of Gary.

First mate Gary King joined the show in season 2. He was South African. He wore his brown hair long. Think Prince Charming, if Prince Charming turned into a lion every full moon.

Important to note that this was the first Below Deck season to start filming mid-pandemic (after the mothership's eighth season wrapped early due to the global COVID outbreak). Coincidentally or not, the Sailing Yacht crew arrived onboard ready for action . Between charters, Below Deck ers typically hit whatever coastal town they're docked in. They go to bars, dance in clubs, drown in shots, and make bad decisions in public. But now, health protocols forced Gary and the rest of the crew to mostly party onboard the Parsifal II . They raided the boat's liquor cabinet. They inevitably found their way to the hot tub. It was like spring break, if spring breakers never left the hotel, and the hotel rooms were coffin-sized.

Young people locked up together with nothing to do but each other: Does reality TV exist for any other reason? Gary immediately hooked up with Sydney, one of his own deckhands, and then gradually started some kind of actual relationship with Alli, the third stewardess. This triangle would have been THE story line in a normal season. But Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 was not normal; it was wonderful. Alli also hooked up with Dani, the second stewardess, who wound up having a disputed (but ultimately affirmed) love child with another deckhand, Jean-Luc.

All those people are gone, but Gary remains. The sixth episode of season 3 just aired Monday. Gary has already kissed three members of the crew — all three stewardesses! Anecdotally, viewers I know seem split on his appeal. Some consider his whole nonstop-flirty thing a bit creepy. I kinda like him? Let me explain! He has the best power a person can have on Below Deck : He is Good at His Job.

Nobody really cared when half the Jersey Shore cast gave up on selling T-shirts. Who even remembers any Real World jobs past the mid-'90s? But Below Deck is the rare goofy-sexy-drunky reality show where being a good employee actually matters on the level of pure entertainment. The show portrays the 24-hour necessities of keeping an ultra-ship afloat. The crew labors round-the-clock to make their guests think everything is absolutely perfect all the time. It's actually a bit grating when the show purposefully casts rookie deckhands who don't know their knots, or stews who can't mix drinks, or chefs with zero experience.

The Platonic Ideal of Below Deck ness is Sailing Yacht 's current chef, Marcos, who cracked a chip off his skull mid-charter and still finished dinner on time. It is a pleasure to watch him work. Likewise, Gary is a great first mate. During a charter, he's all business, perpetually on the move. Heck, after squabbling with chief stew Daisy last season, he has come around to letting deckhands help in the galley. People, he can learn. He can make himself a better man! And he seems to know when he makes mistakes. It helps, surely, that in both his Below Deck seasons he's had engineer Colin as his wingman. Colin is a very sarcastic saint. I trust his judgment in people.

Now, I'm going to throw things to my learned colleague and reputable Below Deck expert Rebecca Detken for a counter-argument. Previously, she had expressed some Gary skepticism. In fact, her thoughts are much more complicated, because Gary is a unique and complex snowflake who defies any easy conclusions. Take it away, Rebecca!

To be clear, I don't dislike Gary and was happy to see Captain Glenn bring him back for another season! Gary's fun and genuinely appears to be good at his job as first mate, even if he occasionally makes really bad choices — like sleeping with season 2 deckhand Sydney on the very first night — which result in some seriously good reality TV.

What I haven't been able to wrap my head around is why so many women on the boat want to GET with Gary. This season, it's been truly embarrassing to watch third stew Ashley literally throw herself at him. Is it his South African accent? His beach bum vibes? (Is Ashley looking for more screen time?) What is his appeal? I mean, if they were all crushing on Colin, then I'd understand.

Aside from some smooches, I'm impressed Gary has managed to keep Ashley at bay, but was utterly baffled when he found himself in another steamy situation during last week's episode where he and chief stew Daisy (arguably the best chief stew in Below Deck history) hooked up in the hot tub. How did Daisy — the one woman who appeared to have Gary's number — fall under his spell? Perhaps it was the awful charter guests they had just dealt with, or the fact that they were both sloshed. Or might there actually be something more between them?

Because I can never get enough of Below Deck , I watched Andy Cohen interview them together on Watch What Happens Live after the makeout episode aired and, dare I say, found Gary to be rather charming. Daisy noted Gary's always had a crush on her, and Gary confirmed it: "From day one, basically." They genuinely seem to be friends and respect one another, so… maybe there is more to this Gary guy than I've been giving him credit for.

And that was before second stew Gabriela hopped in bed with Gary for an allegedly PG-13 overnight on Monday! Is everyone coming around to Gary? What does Below Deck superfan Steven Soderbergh think? And is Daisy the best chief stew in Below Deck history? Let's sail on it.

‘Below Deck’ Accused of Covering Up Gary King’s Sexual Misconduct

By Krystie Lee Yandoli

Krystie Lee Yandoli

Bravo ’s Below Deck was recently lauded for its handling of sexual misconduct when a producer on Below Deck Down Under broke the “fourth wall” and intervened when one cast member, Luke Jones, tried to get into bed naked with another cast member, Margot Sisson, without her consent while she was inebriated and passed out. Not only was Luke fired from the show, but their fellow cast member and stewardess, Laura Bileskalne, was also let go because of victim-blaming comments she made to Margot about the incident and her own line-crossing pursuit of deckhand Adam Kodra.

While viewers and fans of the show applauded the pivotal on-screen moment, production crew members who have worked on the popular, Emmy-nominated franchise say they’ve experienced and witnessed sexual harassment and misconduct from other cast members behind the scenes without seeing any real accountability.

Suarez says she met King for the first time when the cast and crew arrived in Sardinia in preparation to film the fourth season. Crew members stayed in the same hotel, the DoubleTree by Hilton Olbia-Sardinia, for the whole duration of filming. Cast members joined them and stayed in the same hotel prior to filming charters on the yacht  and on the few “dark days” during the season when no one in production or the cast worked.

One “dark day” in July when the cast members were staying at the hotel, Suarez accompanied an inebriated King back to his hotel room after he filmed his interviews for the show, where she says producers provided him with a substantial amount of alcohol.

“There is no limit to alcohol consumption whatsoever, which I think poses a really big problem,” she says.

Suarez says when King asked her not to leave she joked with him that she would sit outside of his door to make sure he wouldn’t leave his hotel room. According to Suarez, King then suggested she get in bed with him and repeatedly asked her not to leave his room even though she says he was aware that she was in a relationship with someone else. After a few minutes, she insisted she had to leave and help other cast members, telling King she would return later to drop off snacks and water. She says when she went back to King’s room with a case of water bottles and a bag of snacks, she knocked on the door and King answered the door in his underwear. She says she asked King to take the case of water out of her hands and he continued to ask her not to leave his hotel room.

“I was like, ‘I have to go — I need to go bring other people water and food,’ and he’s like, ‘No, no, please,’” Suarez says. “So I stepped into the room to set the case of waters down and again, he’s repeating, ‘Don’t leave,’ and I was like, ‘I have to go, I’m not staying.’”

“At that point, I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was freaking out,” Suarez says. “It just happened so fast.”

In that same moment, Suarez says she received a phone call from the talent manager and answered it. She says that’s when King let go of the door and she stepped into the hallway to take the call.

“I’m freaking out, and he goes, ‘What’s wrong? What’s going on?’ And I’m like, ‘Just leave me alone.’ He tried to come up behind me and put his arm around me. He’s in the hallway in his underwear and it’s all weird and fucked up, and so I’m just like, ‘Just go back in your room and don’t come out.’”

“I’m freaking out, and he goes, ‘What’s wrong? What’s going on?’ And I’m like, ‘Just leave me alone.’“

Suarez says she immediately told producers what happened following the incident when she saw them in the production office. The next day, she says a co-executive producer reached out to her and they had a conversation about what happened. After Suarez spoke with the co-executive producer she says she had another meeting with him, executive producers Courtland Cox and Vivian Choi, as well as the show’s talent manager. She says she told the producers she didn’t feel comfortable being around King, she didn’t want to do his hair or makeup, and she didn’t want to be alone with him or in the same room as him. She says Cox apologized to her and said the producers would have a conversation with King, assuring Suarez that King would be fired from the show if any other incidents occurred. She says the next day producers removed King from the hotel where the rest of the cast and crew members were staying and for the rest of the “dark days” during filming, he was instructed to sleep on the boat.

“It pretty much sucked from there on out,” Suarez says. “I was just in a super depressive state.”

King declined to comment for this story. A spokesperson for Bravo told Rolling Stone in a statement, “Bravo is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for cast and crew on our reality shows. We require our third-party production companies to have appropriate workplace policies and trainings in place and a clear process on how to report concerns.  The concerns Ms. Suarez raised in July 2022 were investigated at that time and action was taken based on the findings.”

“With any complaint filed, a timely investigation is launched and, based on the findings, appropriate actions are implemented to ensure the safety of our cast and crew, up to and including termination. With regard to the incident reported by Ms. Suarez involving Mr. King, the case was investigated and reviewed as soon as it was submitted, and production acted accordingly based on the results.”

According to Saurez, she stayed inside her hotel room for a week following the incident with King and didn’t immediately return to work because she says she was upset, depressed, and her mental health declined; she says she even debated going home and not finishing out the rest of the season.

At the time, Suarez also reached out to Zach Klein, the COO of 51 Minds Entertainment, to report the incident. In emails reviewed by Rolling Stone , Suarez detailed the incident to Klein and wrote:

“[King] comes up behind me, puts his arms around me, holds me against his body, physically restraining me from leaving, and says stuff like no don’t go. I get out of his grip, tell him again that I have to leave, that I am not staying, and I go reach for the door knob and he comes over and puts both his hands on the door, with his whole weight, to push it shut. This whole time he’s laughing. I ask him to please let me out of the room, that I have to go. I then get a phone call from [the talent manager]. He sees and hears that I answer and he finally moves away from the door, allowing me to open it. I step outside, not even able to listen to what [the talent manager] is saying to me because I’m so overwhelmed at that point, and Gary grabs his room key, comes out of his room, again, is only in his underwear, letting the door close behind him.”

After emailing Klein, emails reviewed by Rolling Stone confirm that an HR representative for Banijay America, the parent company of 51 Minds, reached out to Suarez and asked her to have a conversation. Suarez says she spoke to the HR representative who then arranged for her to speak with a counselor. Suarez says the HR representative stayed in touch with her for the remainder of the season and told her the company was conducting an investigation into the incident; at one point, Suarez says the representative told her she spoke to other crew members and to King about what allegedly happened.

Later in the season, Suarez says the HR representative also asked her not to talk about the incident with other production staffers because “it was becoming water cooler talk” on set and it seemed like Suarez was “trying to rally the troops” against the show. Saurez says she wasn’t even alongside her fellow crew members in the week following the incident but because of her absence, people reached out to her and asked her why she wasn’t on set. Suarez says she told the HR representative that she explained what happened to the people who reached out to her and asked for clarification about whether or not she was “allowed” to talk about the incident with her colleagues. Suarez says the rep told her yes, she was allowed to, but discouraged her from doing it.

In later conversations, Suarez says she expressed to executive producers that she was upset about how the situation was addressed. She says executive producers responded by saying they originally offered to fire King from the show when the alleged incident happened. Suarez says she wanted leadership to make that decision based on the information they had and not put the responsibility on her to say whether or not she wanted King fired, especially since she didn’t actually have the power to enforce that decision. After the incident, Suarez says she only saw King in passing a couple of times around the hotel but that they never directly interacted or communicated.

“He’s next-level scary with women,” they say.

Three other people who did not work for 51 Minds Entertainment, NBC, or Below Deck spoke to Rolling Stone and say that Suarez told them about the alleged incident with King at the time.

Another crew member who requested anonymity out of fear of repercussions tells Rolling Stone later in this same season, they witnessed King grab a female cast member’s butt and continue to touch her inappropriately even though she said, “No,” and told him to stop. While filming at a beach club in Sardinia, the crew member says King was inebriated and they also witnessed King grab another production crew member’s genitals. During off days in between charters, Below Deck typically films cast members partying on and off the boat in their free time. It’s common to see cast members drunk and engage in sexual activity with one another on camera.

The crew member says they reported the issue on their walkie talkie, which they use to communicate with the executive producer, director, and other people working in the control room. According to production crew members, there’s a control room set up in one of the guest rooms on the boat where producers monitor live footage. When they’re filming on location off the boat, they set up an area nearby that acts as a control room.

“The girl was literally saying, ‘No, stop, don’t,’” the crew member says. “I’m explaining this over my walkie and no one’s acknowledging it.”

“The girl was literally saying, ‘No, stop, don’t.’ I’m explaining this over my walkie and no one’s acknowledging it.“

They say a producer eventually approached King and told him to stop. After the producer spoke to him, the crew member says King walked over to a camera operator who was on a break and grabbed his genitals.

The crew member says these incidents were filmed but didn’t air on television. They say they’re not sure what happened to the footage of King’s alleged behavior or other footage that the production company doesn’t end up using for TV. Typically, the crew member says, producers and editors have access to raw footage filmed in the field at least until the editing stage.

“I had to promote and make this guy who just assaulted someone look awesome,” they say. “That was my job, to make this person look cool, capable, and exciting.”

The production crew member says after they were vocal about witnessing King’s alleged harassment on set throughout filming, they were not asked to return to the show after working for different iterations of the Below Deck franchise for years. Suarez also says she thinks she was retaliated against for reporting King’s behavior to the production company and that’s why she wasn’t asked to return to the show. Suarez says while King got to stay on Below Deck without consequences, she lost the opportunity to work after reporting the alleged misconduct. For Suarez, there wasn’t enough done to remove King from the show or hold him accountable after he allegedly exhibited inappropriate behavior toward her and other women.

“You’re an executive producer on the show and you’re not even worried that your cast member put his hands on me and is being a creep currently while being on TV?” Suarez says. “Somebody shouldn’t be able to keep a platform for being a gross creep.”

Productions’ handling of the incident with King exhibited a pattern to Suarez who says she told a producer about a separate incident that allegedly occurred when she filmed Below Deck Season 10. She says she was put in charge of accompanying the male cast members from a car to their hotel and bosun Ross McHarg made her feel uncomfortable.

“He was just making these weird, lewd, sexual, gross comments toward me to the point where the other boys in the car were like, ‘Shut up Ross, why are you saying these things to her?’” Suarez says. “There was stuff like that that I expressed to production as well and, you know, nothing happened thereafter.” (McHarg did not respond to requests for comment.)

According to Suarez and three other staffers who worked in production for Below Deck , someone from HR delivers a sexual harassment and cultural sensitivity training before each season. Producers also allegedly tell staffers if something goes awry during filming to communicate it on their walkie talkies and someone in the control room will respond. At the beginning of the season, crew members say they’re also explicitly told not to break the “fourth wall” and interact with cast members under any circumstances.

“For a show like this where there is alcohol and sex involved, I think there should be an intimacy coordinator-type position on these shows or something like that,” one crew member says. “There should be some accountability and some standardization practice where it’s not just up to some dude [in the control room] who has been producing television for 20 years.”

Inspired by the SAG strike, former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel has been vocal about what she calls the mistreatment of reality stars by networks and her desire for talent to unionize for better protections. Earlier in August, lawyers on behalf of a handful of unnamed reality stars sent a letter to NBCUniversal accusing the company of manipulation, covering up instances of sexual violence, and other claims regarding their reality shows. The purpose of the letter was to ask NBCUniversal to hold possible evidence ahead of litigation.

Suarez also thinks there should be protocols for crew members to follow when they witness or experience sexual harassment or misconduct from a cast member or anyone else on set.

“Why can’t you just get on TV and be like, ‘Gary had to be removed from the show for his misconduct?’ If anything, that would make me respect the producers and the show and everything a lot more if they were just honest instead of trying to sweep things under the rug, which is what feels like happened.”

Bravo fans have been waiting a very long time for news about Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5, and the network has finally delivered.

Not only did Bravo just drop a brand-new trailer for the fifth season of the hotly-anticipated reality TV show, the network also confirmed precisely when Below Deck Sailing Yacht will return.

Until today, fans of Below Deck Sailing Yacht weren't quite sure the spin-off of Below Deck would return for a fifth season, as the last episode of Season 4 aired way back in July 2023.

Editor's note: This article contains brief mentions of sexual assault, abuse, or other related topics that could be triggering for some readers and survivors. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please visit RAINN.org. The National Sexual Assault Hotline (1-800-656-4673) is available 24/7.

In late June, one viewer asked Reddit users if Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 was ever going to happen, and even as recently as this summer, fans weren't sure the show was returning.

In that thread, BDSY fans speculated that Season 5 was delayed due to allegations involving First Officer Gary King.

As we previously reported, Season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht featured a wild "love triangle" between Gary, Chief Stewardess Daisy Kelliher , and Chief Engineer Colin MacRae:

"Many things influenced the relationship between Daisy and Colin, but one name was the most prominent: Gary King. "Daisy, Colin, and Gary's entanglement reached a boiling point that got the three in public arguments and name-calling, and at the end, estranged."

A month after Season 4 concluded with a two-part reunion in July 2023, Rolling Stone published an in-depth article , "'Below Deck' Accused of Covering Up Gary King’s Sexual Misconduct," rocking the show's audience.

It reported in part:

"Bravo’s Below Deck was recently lauded for its handling of sexual misconduct when a producer on Below Deck Down Under broke the 'fourth wall' and intervened when one cast member, Luke Jones, tried to get into bed naked with another cast member, Margot Sisson, without her consent while she was inebriated and passed out. Not only was Luke fired from the show, but their fellow cast member and stewardess, Laura Bileskalne, was also let go because of victim-blaming comments she made to Margot about the incident and her own line-crossing pursuit of deckhand Adam Kodra. [...] "Samantha Suarez, who first joined Below Deck in the makeup department on Season 10 of the show, tells Rolling Stone that cast member Gary King tried to force himself on her during production of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season Four, which filmed in Sardinia, Italy, in the summer of 2022."

Fans speculated that Season 5 was delayed due to extensive retooling, but Bravo eventually confirmed the return of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, with a trailer that centers Daisy.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5's Release Date And Trailer

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Trailer

On September 16, Bravo finally released the Below Deck Sailing Yacht trailer.

Bravo shared the clip on Instagram and Twitter/X, to the surprise of fans:

Posts teased the crew's visit to the notoriously riotous destination of Ibiza, and the trailer kicked off with some remarks from Daisy.

Daisy is the first crew member to speak in the trailer, and she addresses the unwieldy love triangle of Season 4:

"Going into this season, I got rid of some dead weight. The breakup did a number on me last year. I felt very broken. "But now, I'm coming back in more focused, full of energy, and I'm f*****g good at my job. And I'm taking back the reins."

Immediately thereafter, the clip cuts to a cabin, where Daisy tells an in-bed Gary that she refuses to "carry this season," before cutting back to newer footage of Daisy laughing and predicting:

This is gonna be a s*** show.

Then the video shifts to Ibiza, where a voiceover describes it as the world's "party capital," and scenes are interspersed with a lot of breaking glass.

Gary (who has not been let go from the franchise) makes an appearance, and the soundbite chosen for the trailer is bizarre given the allegations levied at him last year:

If the guests don't have a good time, we're clearly doing something very wrong.

As the trailer winds down, one of the crew members (likely Deckhand Keith Allen) muses that "Daisy would make a very good wife."

The trailer wraps with an apparent firing, as well as what appears to be a scene during which the crew veers uncomfortable close to another vessel at sea, at night.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 debuts on Bravo on October 7 at 9PM Eastern, and streams on Peacock the following day.

'Below Deck' Crew Member Accuses 'Sailing Yacht' Star Gary King of Sexual Misconduct

Former 'Below Deck' production team member Samantha Suarez alleges King forced himself on her and refused to let her leave a hotel room while filming the Bravo reality series 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'

sailing yacht gary

Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's Gary King has been accused of sexual misconduct by a former Below Deck production team member.

Samantha Suarez first joined Below Deck as part of the makeup department on the Bravo series' original Caribbean-based franchise during its 10th season . In the summer of 2022, she worked behind the scenes on Sailing Yacht 's fourth season . During that time, she alleges King, 34, forced himself on her while the show filmed in Sardinia, Italy.

Fred Jagueneau/Bravo via Getty

As part of her responsibilities, Suarez helped the production’s talent manager with day-to-day tasks. During one "dark" day when the on-camera crew members were recording confessional interviews rather than being filmed working on the boat, she says she was tasked with escorting King, who had been drinking alcohol, back to his hotel room.

“There is no limit to alcohol consumption whatsoever, which I think poses a really big problem,” Suarez told Rolling Stone .

Suarez described King's behavior as erratic, including yelling from his balcony to his costars so they could sneak out of their rooms, which was not allowed. She claims he and asked her to stay with him. She responded by joking that she would sit outside of his room to prevent him from leaving.

Suarez says King then asked her to get in bed with him, despite knowing she was in a relationship with someone else. After leaving the room and returning with water and snacks, Suarez claims King answered the door in his underwear and asked her again not to leave. “I was like, ‘I have to go — I need to go bring other people water and food,’ and he’s like, ‘No, no, please,’” Suarez recalled. “So I stepped into the room to set the case of waters down and again, he’s repeating, ‘Don’t leave,’ and I was like, ‘I have to go, I’m not staying.’”

As Suarez attempted to exit the hotel room, the Rolling Stone report alleges that “King came up behind her, grabbed her, pressed her against his body, and refused to let go of her even though she says she tried to kick and elbow him to get him off her.”

Suarez claims she was able to evade King, but she alleges he slammed the door shut from behind her when she attempted to leave. “At that point, I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was freaking out. It just happened so fast,” she told Rolling Stone .

She said the interaction was interrupted when she received a phone call from a talent manager and King allowed her to leave to answer the call in the hallway.

“I’m freaking out, and he goes, ‘What’s wrong? What’s going on?’ And I’m like, ‘Just leave me alone,’” she claimed. “He tried to come up behind me and put his arm around me.”

She alleged, “He’s in the hallway in his underwear and it’s all weird and f--- up, and so I’m just like, ‘Just go back in your room and don’t come out.’”

Suarez claims she immediately told producers about the incident. She said she was longer comfortable around King and didn’t want to do his hair or makeup anymore. In response, producers allegedly removed King from the hotel and instructed him to sleep on the boat.

“It pretty much sucked from there on out. I was just in a super depressive state,” said Suarez.

In response to the allegation, a Bravo spokesperson tells PEOPLE, “Bravo is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for cast and crew on our reality shows. We require our third-party production companies to have appropriate workplace policies and trainings in place and a clear process on how to report concerns. The concerns Ms. Suarez raised in July 2022 were investigated at that time and action was taken based on the findings.”

PEOPLE also reached out to  Below Deck ’s production company 51 Minds Entertainment, which issued a statement to Rolling Stone : “51 Minds is committed to providing an environment in which every member of the casts and crews on our productions feel respected and, most importantly, safe. 51 Minds provides mandatory harassment and sensitivity training for every series it produces at the outset of each new season and lays out a clear process on how and to whom to report any questionable activity.”

The statement continued, “With any complaint filed, a timely investigation is launched and, based on the findings, appropriate actions are implemented to ensure the safety of our cast and crew, up to and including termination. With regard to the incident reported by Ms. Suarez involving Mr. King, the case was investigated and reviewed as soon as it was submitted, and production acted accordingly based on the results.”

In addition to Suarez, Rolling Stone spoke to three other crew members who told the publication that King acted inappropriately toward women on set.

One crew member — who chose to remain anonymous — told the publication that they alleged that King grabbed a female cast member’s bottom and continued to touch her inappropriately even when she told him no. He was also allegedly caught grabbing the genitals of a production crew member and a male camera operator.

“It was insane. There were multiple incidents of sexual harassment in front of multiple producers after this person had been given verbal warnings multiple times,” the eye witness claimed. According to another crew member, King was “next-level scary with women.”

PEOPLE has reached out to King, who had not yet publicly commented on the allegations at time of publication.

Gary King on Below Deck Sailing Yacht - Season 4

Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans have been left fuming after the season five trailer dropped earlier today, following the sexual assault allegations against Gary King.

The bosun first appeared on the Bravo spin-off series in the second season, which aired in 2021, and has remained part of the cast ever since , alongside Captain Glenn Shephard and chief stewardess Daisy Kelliher.

Last year, viewers were shocked after a crew member alleged that the 36-year-old tried to force himself on her behind the scenes – something he fiercely denied.

The accusations emerged after the fifth series had been filmed, with many questioning whether it would ever air due to the controversy.

The dramatic teaser was released today ahead of the release date on October 7, showing King and Kelliher at the forefront of the drama on board.

However, while it is not clear how much of a part he will play in the upcoming season, viewers were reeling over the decision and called Bravo out airing the episodes.

Flocking to the comments below the official Below Deck page, Bravo4therestofus posted: ‘Ummmm my understanding was that Gary was NOT coming back sooooooooo ?!!,!?! [sic].’

Glamisgrrrl agreed: ‘Right?! So gross they’re just letting him come back.’

‘How is Gary back??? And why? Ick,’ Arielle_Smith said.

Over on Reddit, NBCaz commented: ‘Can’t say I’m excited to see that Gary is still gonna be a part of this [sic].’

As Pinsleric added: ‘Not only is Gary not scrubbed, he’s featured in the trailer. I’m genuinely shocked.’

Gary King on Below Deck Sailing Yacht - Season 4

Last year, Samantha Suarez claimed that she met King while preparing for season four in Sardinia and had accompanied him back to his hotel in July 2022, after he had filmed interviews for the show.

The former crew member – who worked on the hair and makeup team, and would also assist the talent manager with tasks – alleged that he was drunk and behaving erratically while she attempted to keep him contained in his room.

She claimed to Rolling Stone that he suggested for her to join him in bed, and that he greeted her in his underwear when she later returned, before coming up behind her and grabbing her, pressing her against his body and refusing to let go.

Suarez said that she immediately informed bosses of the incident and had meetings with executive producers and the show’s talent manager, insisting that she didn’t feel comfortable working around King.

Others also claimed that he was seen grabbing a female staff member’s bum and continued to touch her inappropriately when she asked him to stop.

When one team member reported his behavior, they claimed that no one acknowledged it initially, before a producer eventually stepped in to ask him to stop.

Both Suarez and the crew member, who was vocal about what they witnessed, were reportedly not asked to return to the show, having worked on the franchise for some time – while King returned for the following season.

The allegations emerged in August and the reality star later denied them. He posted a message on Instagram in November, vowing: ‘It’s sad that people will do anything in their power to bring you down.

‘It’s not about how you fall but how you get up. Luckily for me the fall was into a sea of daisies.’

A spokesperson for 51 Minds Entertainment, the company that produces Below Deck, added to the outlet: ‘51 Minds is committed to providing an environment in which every member of the casts and crews on our productions feel respected and, most importantly, safe.

‘51 Minds provides mandatory harassment and sensitivity training for every series it produces at the outset of each new season and lays out a clear process on how and to whom to report any questionable activity.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

sailing yacht gary

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

sailing yacht gary

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

sailing yacht gary

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

sailing yacht gary

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

sailing yacht gary

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

sailing yacht gary

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

sailing yacht gary

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.
