Titan 75 – Boat Review

  • By Dean Travis Clarke
  • Updated: November 11, 2009

1109br_titan368

In Greek mythology, the Titans represented a group of powerful gods. Ultimately, they were overthrown by a host of younger gods – the Olympians – led by Zeus. While it has certainly taken a long time in the offshore world, this mammoth 75-foot, dedicated sport-fisherman stands to recoup the rarified status the elder Titans once enjoyed.

Performance This vessel feels far more massive than much longer boats I’ve run yet performs remarkably spryly. It jumps up onto plane with little bow rise, and from the flybridge, you barely hear the engines or exhausts. I managed a u-turn in the width of the channel in San Diego harbor with room to spare. And since the boat comes with stabilizers, beam seas have very little effect unless it gets really nasty.

Surprisingly, maneuvering on a fish also happens with little fanfare. The Titan provides four command stations, including one set of movable controls that fit into the rod holders across the back of the enclosed bridge, affording the captain an unfettered view of the entire cockpit. The cockpit controls include Simrad joystick steering, a Sidepower bow thruster and a Simrad R135 Rudder angle indicator.

Flybridge I particularly appreciate the Titan 75’s terrific ladders to both the pilothouse and flybridge that you can negotiate forward or backward with equal ease, even with a rod in one hand! And surprisingly, even with the triple Pompanette captains seats, you can see both the bow and stern clearly from the uppermost station. Speaking of the bow, it also sports a sun pad and huge belowdecks storage spaces for fenders, dock lines, etc.

Pilothouse Despite the radical curves in the glass flybridge windows, they remain distortion-free – a tough trick to pull off. This compartment provides an amazing amount of space for guest seating with hidden rod storage beneath all the settees. A full complement of Furuno NavNet 3D instruments, including 36- and 72-mile radars, and RDF and FLIR night-vision camera monitors crisscross the dash console. You’ll find duplicate instrumentation on the flybridge as well.

Interior As you’d expect, CBandit boasts a huge interior living space. In an unusual layout, the salon just inside the cockpit door is actually a huge family room with a large dining table and galley attached. If your family is like mine, then you do most of your entertaining around the dinner table, and this table is large enough to provide many hours of great camaraderie. And you can see the water from both the salon and the galley. On either side of the entry door, you’ll find even more tackle lockers for easy access from the cockpit.

The commercial-quality galley features fabulous attention to detail, including top-of-the-line appliances, a wine cooler, a walk-in pantry, Sub-Zero refrigeration and freezers, and a dedicated spice rack right next to the stove.

CBandit comes with three full staterooms, with the master cabin amidships.

Cockpit A lightweight carbon-fiber transom gate opens wide enough to handle a 650-pound fish without needing to turn it upright, and the under-gunwale gaff lockers accommodate rigged flying gaffs. Rather than installing just one in each corner, the Titan sports four hawseholes in the stern for greater flexibility at the dock.

titan custom yachts photos

Live-bait tubes in the swim platform double as livewells or fish boxes. In all, the Titan boasts 16 live-bait tubes. Baitwell flow can be rerouted through numerous redundant pumping systems if one pump should fail. Additionally, raw-water intakes can be closed to prevent dirty or contaminated water from entering the baitwells, and a series of filters and aerators keeps the bait healthy until you can access clean seawater again. In keeping with West Coast fishing methods, Titan provides smaller integral wells on the bow as well.

Release Marine supplied the rod holders – seemingly hundreds of them around the cockpit and across the back of the pilothouse deck. I discovered a bait-prep station in the shade, handy to the bait freezer, rigging sink and cutting board.

Another design feature I love finds the heavy handrails along the super-wide side walkways to the bow have closer centers between stanchions, so if you get washed off the deck, you can catch yourself with both hands.

Engine Room Again, on a boat this size you should expect to find a huge engine compartment, with all transfer valves, sight tubes and filters mounted along the forward bulkhead, and CBandit delivers. You can honestly walk all the way around both engines, and as you take your stroll, you’ll notice the compressors and a large tool chest mounted outboard of the power plants. The Titan uses two generators – a 22 and 33 kW – and locates the batteries, fuel and water all low on centerline for maximum stability.

Twin 3 1/2-inch shafts run through tubes from the gear box back through V-struts to the 39-inch, five-blade props.

Oh, and another innovative feature: You can switch from engines and generators to inverters and still use all onboard electronics – like sonar and chart plotter – while bottomfishing or drift fishing to keep noise to a minimum.

Design and Construction I think you’ll agree that this Titan 75 displays one of the prettiest sheer lines ever. It rests atop a solid fiberglass bottom, with Kevlar and composite construction from the waterline up to the gunwale, and carbon fiber laminate topsides. To assure the quietest possible ride, Titan also sandwiches Nida-Core into the interior structure along with 1,033 pounds of assorted acoustical composites. And finally, every painted surface gets coated with Alexseal paints.

While this boat sports plenty of features that West Coast anglers already appreciate, I can’t imagine any serious angler, anywhere, who wouldn’t fall in love with the Titan 75.

Timmerman Yachts was founded in 2003 and named after Franz Timmerman (1644-1702) who introduced Dutch boat building methods to Russia in the 17th century. Timmerman is credited with convincing Peter the First of both the importance and the charm of maritime affairs and he was entrusted with the construction of great fleets of both naval and trading vessels. As well as forging links between two Great European Embassies, Franz Timmerman was also able to arrange for Tsar Peter to study at the Amsterdam boat yards where the Tsar got his "Certificate of Timmerman" as ship joiner.

The yachting company continues this very successful Russian-Dutch partnership, with more than 1000 people who studied in Holland now working at Timmerman Yachts at the Moscow Shipyard in Russia. The name of Franz Timmerman, co-founder of the Russian Navy, is honoured in the title of this project. "Our aim is to build the best motor yachts from the point of view of the ratio “price-quality”, combining in them the newest technologies of European yacht-building with reliability of Russian ship-building, having military roots" -  Dmitry Mironenkov, the president of Timmerman Yachts.

Timmerman has  powerful production capabilities, broad experience, exceptional  specialist knowledge, and cooperation with the leading Dutch Naval Architects which enable them to realize the most incredible and daring ideas into their superyacht projects. The consortium enables its client to receive a luxury motor yacht with unlimited range and best consumer qualities, at an attractive price and in reasonable time. Names of the luxury yachts delivered by Timmerman include motor yacht Victoria M (2008), megayacht ALEXANDRA (2008), motor yacht Kitty (2008), New Star , (2006), M/Y Nord Star , (2005), Smile (2004) M/Y Olsten 125' ( 2004), and motor yacht Pallada (2003), Novaya Zvezda (2006).

Timmerman yachts comply with the highest shipbuilding standards: certification and supervision of DNV, MCA, Russian River Register. This kind of approach to certification provides complete compliance of yacht characteristics with international standards and allows a yacht owner to charter his yacht in any part of the world and to sell it without any difficulty.

The consortium allows its client to get a motor yacht with unlimited range and best consumer qualities, with attractive prices and in reasonable time.

At the moment the shipyard is building 17 yachts. According to the length of the yachts Timmerman Yachts is among the ten leading shipyards of the world.

How did the superyacht Bayesian sink? Experts say weather was just one factor

Divers searching for 6 missing people locate 5 bodies inside wrecked yacht's hull.

Social Sharing

A complicated search effort is underway deep beneath the surface of the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Italy, where a superyacht sank early Monday during a fierce storm.

Dive crews are attempting to enter the wreck of the Bayesian, a 56-metre long British-flagged luxury vessel, which is sitting in some 50 metres of water near the Sicilian fishing village of Porticello.

Fifteen of the 22 passengers and crew members on board were rescued. Divers searching for six people considered missing, including British businessman Mike Lynch, located five bodies inside the yacht's hull on Wednesday, and retrieved four of them from the water.

Searchers previously recovered the body of Recaldo Thomas, the ship's Canadian-Antiguan cook, in the water not far from where the Bayesian sank.

Questions have emerged about why a boat designed to handle severe weather sank so rapidly and whether or not some of its features could've been a factor in its demise. Maritime experts say investigations may, in time, reveal what led to the disaster.

"There needs to be an investigation as to why this happened, what went wrong and, you know, how to prevent it in the future cases," said Simon Boxall, an oceanographer and senior lecturer at the University of Southampton in England.

Canadian dead, others missing after superyacht sinks near Sicily

How did the bayesian sink so quickly.

Grainy footage from closed-circuit cameras on the shore broadcast on the website of the Giornale di Sicilia newspaper showed the Bayesian's majestic mast just before it disappeared.

Karsten Borner, captain of the Sir Robert Baden Powell, which rescued the survivors who managed to get into a lifeboat, told The Associated Press he was close enough to be able to see the Bayesian as the storm came in.

"A moment later, she was gone," he said.

The survivors told the rescuers they went flat on the water "and were sunk in two minutes."

Boxall said vessels rely on being able to steer and navigate stormy seas, but the Bayesian was anchored and stationary, which likely made it more vulnerable to the storm and, potentially, a waterspout , or mini tornado that creates a whirlwind over the surface of the sea.

He said it was also dark, meaning "you wouldn't see this sort of very unique event coming towards you."

titan custom yachts photos

CCTV footage shows yacht Bayesian as deadly storm strikes

"It's a freak of nature," Boxall said. "I think the fact that so many have survived, so far, is probably a miracle."

Tom Sharpe, a retired Royal Navy commander and defence commentator, told CBC News the weather was likely not the only issue.

He says it's rare that a weather event like this takes down a boat.

"There's nearly always a sequence [of events]," he said in an interview from Guildford, England, explaining that everything from safety protocols to the culture on board the vessel needs to be taken into account.

Two men sit on the left side of a table, opposite from three other men, looking at a illustrations of a the interior of a sunken superyacht.

Was the boat's design part of the problem?

The Bayesian was built in 2008 by Italian luxury yacht maker Perini Navi.

Andrea Ratti, a nautical design professor at Milan Polytechnic, told Reuters that a boat the size of the Bayesian could only sink so rapidly by taking on a huge amount of water.

He suggested that one or more portholes, windows or other openings may have been broken or smashed open by the waterspout, letting in water. There has also been media speculation that a major hatch might have been inadvertently left open.

Reports have also highlighted that the Bayesian featured a 72-metre mast — one of the tallest in the world.

A nighttime view of a yacht with a tall mast, with lights on it, moored on the water with the lights of a city in the background.

Ratti said an unusually tall mast is not by itself an element of vulnerability in a storm.

A second expert, structural engineer Filippo Mattioni, was also skeptical about the suggestion the boat may have sunk due to a broken mast, which likely would have caused major damage smashing against the hull.

Fire department diver Marco Tilotta told the newspaper Il Messaggero that the wreck was "apparently intact," with "no gashes, no signs of impact." However, only half of the hull is visible to divers.

The Bayesian also had a retractable keel — the fin-like structure under the hull that helps stabilize boats and acts as a counterweight to the mast.

Both Ratti and Mattioni wondered if the yacht had been anchored with the keel up, reducing the vessel's depth under water and making it less stable. Ratti said strong winds might have caused the boat to start oscillating wildly, "like a pendulum," putting exceptional strain on the mast.

Sharpe pointed out that a mast the size of the Bayesian's is designed for a massive sail, and without that sail raised and catching the wind, the gusts likely would've had a negligible impact on the aluminum pole.

  • What we know about the capsized superyacht off the Sicilian coast

He instead suggested the anchor may have played a pivotal role.

"My kind of working assumption is that she was probably a bit further in at anchor, and it's very likely, in these sort of conditions, that her anchor dragged," he said.

In such a situation, he said, a crew is better off steering toward the anchor to stabilize the vessel or raising the anchor and heading out to sea to ride out the storm.

"They might have got caught in that middle ground where they're not on a particularly good anchorage, but the anchor is now controlling the bow of the ship."

Sicily superyacht rescue: What divers are up against | About That

What caused the extreme weather.

Although Sharpe says the weather is unlikely the sole cause of the sinking, he notes the Mediterranean isn't the calm sea often pictured in travel brochures.

"It can get pretty nasty," he said.

The type of storm that struck Monday is fuelled by warm water and the Mediterranean is warmer than ever, said Boxall, noting there's been about a three and a half degree increase in the 20-year average temperature.

'The ship behind us was gone,' says captain who rescued yacht passengers

Climatologists say global warming is making such violent and unexpected tempests more frequent.

Luca Mercalli, president of Italy's meteorological society, said the sea surface temperature around Sicily in the days leading up to the shipwreck was about 30 C.

"This creates an enormous source of energy that contributes to these storms," he told Reuters.

Superyacht called Bayesian

British tech mogul Mike Lynch and his daughter are among six people missing after a majestic luxury superyacht was sunk by a tornado off the coast of Sicily early Monday.

Two Americans and two other Brits also remain unaccounted for after the 184-foot sailing vessel Bayesian sank to the depths around 5 a.m. just off the coast of Palermo. Fifteen passengers and crew—including a 1-year-old girl—were rescued, according to local media reports, while the body of one man has been recovered.

Lynch, 59, disappeared in the incident but his wife, Angela Bacares, has been rescued. She told La Repubblica that she sustained abrasions to her feet during the chaos and was now unable to walk.

The Daily Mail reported that Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, remained unaccounted for by early Monday evening, as well as at least one of the elder Lynch’s attorneys. It’s unclear if his second daughter was on board or not.

In June, a San Francisco jury found Lynch not guilty on 15 fraud charges brought over the sale of his Autonomy company to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion in 2011.

Once described in the U.K. as Britain’s Bill Gates, Lynch thanked jurors at the end of his decade-long legal battle to clear his name. “I am looking forward to returning to the U.K. and getting back to what I love most: my family and innovating in my field,” he said after his acquittal.

A lawyer aboard the Bayesian’s ill fated trip was the 36-year-old Ayla Ronald, the The Telegraph reported. Her father, Lin Ronald, told the paper that the trip was to celebrate Lynch’s acquittal.

Bayesian sits off the Italian coast.

The Bayesian, a 56-meter-long sailboat, was photographed (left) off the coast of Palermo just hours before sinking.

The reality that those missing are likely dead began setting in for the tragedy’s survivors by Monday afternoon, Italian officials said.

“We have given the survivors this information, but they are talking and crying all the time because they have realized that there is little hope of finding their friends alive,” the doctor Domenico Cipolla told Reuters from a hospital housing victims.

Bayesian was built by the Perini Navi shipyard in Italy in 2008 and refitted in 2020. The vessel boasted the tallest aluminum mast in the world, reaching over 240 feet, according to Boat International . The nautical news site reported that the iconic vessel was one of the 50 largest sailing yachts on Earth.

Divers jump into the ocean near the crash site of the Bayesian.

Divers were dispatched to the sinking site of the Bayesian. Six people, including two Americans, remained unaccounted for by Monday evening.

Divers reached the wreck of the British-flagged yacht over 160 feet below the surface. They found the body of a man alongside the vessel and more bodies were visible through the ship’s portholes, according to the Corriere della Sera newspaper. The man whose remains were recovered was the ship’s chef, La Repubblica reports, citing local fire officials. The Mail reported that the worker is “believed” to be a Canadian national.

The 1-year-old English girl who survived the disaster was taken to a hospital but was unscathed.

“I held her afloat with all my strength, my arms stretched upwards to keep her from drowning. It was all dark,” her mother, identified as Charlotte Golunski, told La Repubblica . “In the water I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I screamed for help but all I could hear around me was the screams of others.”

Charlotte Golunski smiles in a photo for social media.

Charlotte Golunski detailed to an Italian newspaper how she saved her one-year-old baby from drowning.

Golunski required stitches to an injury on her chest, while her husband also reportedly suffered minor injuries.

The passengers on board the boat were mainly from the U.K. , though others hailed from Sri Lanka , New Zealand , and Ireland , according to the ANSA news agency. Some witnesses told the agency the ship was anchored in front of the port of Porticello when the tornado hit.

Karsten Borner, the captain of another boat in the area when the storm hit, said he’d fired up his vessel’s engine in order to keep control and avoid hitting the Bayesian.

“We managed to keep the ship in position and after the storm was over, we noticed that the ship behind us was gone,” he said, Reuters reported. The other vessel “went flat on the water, and then down,” he added.

Borner said his crew then found several survivors on a life raft, three of whom were seriously hurt. They were helped onto his vessel before the coast guard arrived to collect them.

The sinking took place just off the coast of Sicily in Italy’s south.

The Bayesian is owned by a company called Revtom Limited, according to shipspotting.com. Bacares, Lynch’s wife, is the only shareholder in the business, according to Reuters.

Lynch’s Ph.D. at Cambridge University and the software with which he amassed his fortune were both based on Bayesian theory, according to the news agency.

“A beautiful boat where there had been a party. A normal holiday spent happily at sea turned into a tragedy,” one witness told ANSA.

The local BAIA Santa Nicolicchia restaurant shared on Facebook a picture purportedly showing the Bayesian at around 10 p.m. on Sunday night. The account also posted security camera footage from the early hours showing violent winds causing damage outside the restaurant.

Italy’s fire and rescue service separately shared footage of the recovery operation with helicopters and boats operating in the area of the sinking.

“I was at home when the tornado hit,” local fisherman Pietro Asciutto told Ansa. “I immediately closed all the windows. Then I saw the boat, it had only one mast, it was very large. I saw it sink suddenly.”

One witness—the captain of a trawler—said he was about to go out on a fishing trip in the early hours but stayed in the harbor after seeing lightning over the water.

“At about 4:15 a.m. we saw a flare in the sea,” Fabio Cefalù said, according to the BBC . “We waited for this waterspout to pass.”

A tornadic waterspout is a tornado that either forms over water or moves from land to water, according to the NOAA’s National Ocean Service .

By the time he got out to sea, Cefalù said, all he found were cushions and other flotsam from the deck of the sunken vessel.

Ukraine war latest: Russia's huge air attacks this week 'cost Putin $1.3bn'

Russia has launched several air attacks on Ukraine this week, costing Moscow a reported $1.3bn. Last night, Kyiv came under drone attack for the third night in four days, with debris injuring people and damaging buildings.

War crimes prosecutors have inspected the sites of yesterday's Russian strikes on the eastern town of Kupyansk.

In his nightly address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Russian glide bomb had hit the town and resulted in deaths.

"There was a strike – right in the city centre, people were under the rubble. Unfortunately, there are fatalities."

The regional prosecutor's office said the strike had injured 14 people and damaged the city hall.

A hotel, residential buildings, outbuildings, cars, shops, administrative buildings, and other civilian infrastructure were damaged, it added.

Kupyansk is part of the Kharkiv region of Ukraine and sits 22 miles (35km) from the Russian border.

Ukrainian shelling in Russia's Belgorod region has killed one person and injured others, according to officials.

Posting on his Telegram channel, governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported the attacks had taken place in the town of Shebekino.

There, he said, one man died and two other people had to be taken to hospital with shrapnel wounds.

He also reported two buildings were damaged and a car caught fire.

For context: The Belgorod region borders Ukraine and the Kursk region of Russia, which Ukraine invaded on 6 August.

There have been Russian reports this week that Ukraine has attempted to break into Belgorod, with Moscow's defence ministry saying the situation "remains difficult but under control".

Russia's huge air attacks across Ukraine this week cost Moscow almost $1.3bn, UK representative to the UN James Kariuki has said.

Moscow launched one of its biggest air attacks of the war so far on Monday, with drones and missiles fired into more than half of Ukrainian regions.

At least seven people were killed and power facilities were damaged, Kyiv has said.

Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting, Mr Kariuki said the attacks represent "continued evidence" that Russia is intentionally targeting civilian energy infrastructure.

He also said the "cowardly" attacks cost the Kremlin almost $1.3bn (£1.14bn). The figures come from a report from Forbes Ukraine and Ekonmichna Pravda.

"The consequence of Putin’s miscalculation for the Russian people is increasingly evident," added Mr Kariuki.

Authorities in Kyiv say debris from intercepted Russian drones injured three people and caused damage to buildings overnight.

It was the third attack on the Ukrainian capital in four days.

Kyiv's air defences downed more than 10 Russian drones, according to the city's military chief, Serhiy Popko.

Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported that apartments in the Holosiivskyi district were damaged by falling debris.

One person was hurt when a downed drone fell on a road and destroyed a car, he added.

Welcome back to our coverage of the war in Ukraine.

Yesterday, a Russian missile struck Volodymyr Zelenskyy's home town of Kryvyi Rih as Ukraine was observing an official day of mourning for an attack that killed four people the day before.

Meanwhile, authorities in the Kursk region said additional security measures would be introduced at the nuclear plant there.

Earlier, Russian troops had claimed they'd defused an unexploded US-supplied missile that was shot down and found near the Kursk nuclear facility.

Here are the other key lines from the last 24 hours:

  • Russia banned entry to 92 US citizens, including journalists, lawyers and the heads of what it claims are key military and industrial firms upholding "Washington's Russophobic stance";
  • The deputy director of the CIA, David Cohen, said it would be difficult for Russia to regain the territory it had lost to Ukraine in the Kursk region;
  • Moscow dismissed Volodymyr Zelenskyy's suggestion that Kyiv would submit a plan to Washington on how to end the war;
  • Russia reopened two airports serving the cities of Kazan and Nizhnekamsk after briefly suspending flights for safety reasons.

We'll be back with more updates and analysis tomorrow, but before we go, here's a recap of the key developments that took place today:

  • A Russian missile struck Volodymyr Zelenskyy's home town of Kryvyi Rih;
  • Ukrainian drones set oil tanks on fire at a depot in Russia's Rostov region and a depot in Russia's western region of Kirov, according to reports;
  • Russia said it wanted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to take a "more objective and clearer" stance on nuclear energy after its chief visited Kursk's nuclear power plant;
  • Russian troops claimed to have defused an unexploded US-supplied missile that they said was shot down and found near the Kursk nuclear facility;
  • Sir Keir Starmer and Olaf Scholz said the UK and Germany's support for Ukraine remained "unyielding";
  • Additional security measures will be introduced at Kursk's nuclear plant from tomorrow, authorities in the region said.

Pavel Durov, the chief executive of Telegram, has been charged with allegedly allowing criminal activity on the messaging app.

French judges have barred Mr Durov from leaving France pending further investigation, but he has avoided being held in custody with a €5m bail.

The billionaire was arrested in France on Saturday after his private jet landed at Le Bourget airport outside Paris.

The Russian-born entrepreneur - who became a French citizen in 2021 - is accused of operating a platform which is being used for child sexual abuse material and by organised crime gangs, for drug trafficking and fraud.

Telegram has insisted it abides by EU laws and its moderation is "within industry standards and constantly improving".

Its statement added: "It is absurd to claim that a platform or its owner is responsible for abuse of that platform."

Mr Durov's arrest in France, and four days of questioning, has caused outrage in Russia.

Paper planes - representing Telegram's logo - haver been placed in Moscow in support of the billionaire.

Some government officials claim his detention was politically motivated and proof of the West's double standard on freedom of speech.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call that Russia was ready to provide Durov with all necessary assistance given his Russian citizenship, but that his French citizenship complicated the situation.

We have been reporting today on Russia's advances in the direction of the key mining city of Pokrovsk, which sits in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region.

Moscow sees taking control of the city as an important stepping stone to annexing the entire Donbas region.

And Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned the situation near Pokrovsk is "difficult".

Now, security expert Maria Avdeeva has shared footage from inside Pokrovsk and said the city is "tense" and "preparing for the looming Russian offensive".

NATO members have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen Ukraine's defences at a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council today.

"Ukraine continues to intercept Russian missiles on a daily basis, saving countless lives. But Ukraine's ability to maintain their defences requires increased supply and more support," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in a statement.

"In the wake of the latest Russian assault, allies today reaffirmed they are stepping up their military aid to Ukraine.

"We must continue to provide Ukraine with the equipment and munitions it needs to defend itself against Russia's invasion. This is vital for Ukraine's ability to stay in the fight."

The fear of escalation by Western allies is the "biggest problem" faced by Kyiv as it battles Russia, Ukraine's foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.

"Ever since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, the biggest problem Ukraine has been facing is the domination of the concept of escalation in the decision-making processes among our partners," Mr Kuleba said.

The Ukrainian minister made the comment during a conversation with Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski.

He also said: "The war is always about a lot of hardware: money, weapons, resources but the real problems are always here, in the heads.

"Most of our partners are afraid of discussing the future of Russia. This is something that is very upsetting because if we do not speak about the future of the source of threat, then we cannot build strategy."

Ukraine has relied heavily on the West to supply it with weapons and hardware and financial assistance to hold out against Russia.

But Kyiv is pushing the West to give it the long-range weapons - and the authorisation - to strike targets deep inside Russian territory. It also wants help shooting down incoming missiles.
