Cannes Yachting Festival 2024: Everything you need to know

The Cannes Yachting Festival is due to return from 10-15 September 2024.

Founded in 1977, the Cannes boat show takes place in the beautiful French city every September and showcases almost 600 boats, including motor yachts, superyachts , catamarans, tenders and sailing yachts.

The in-water show in the Bay of Cannes takes place in two of the city’s ports, the Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto.

What’s new at the Cannes Yachting Festival?

This year is the 47th edition, promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a new marina and nearly 700 boats on display.

Port Canto is the second port in Cannes. This section of the show has long been the home of Sailing Yachts at the show.

But 2024 will see Port Canto also used to accommodate the new marina dedicated to motor yachts around the 12-13m mark.

How to get to the Cannes Yachting Festival

From Nice airport you can get a shuttle bus direct to Cannes, or buses 200 and 210. If you prefer taking a cab, a taxi will cost from around €55, depending on the number of passengers.

If money is no object and you want to travel in style, then book a helicopter with Azur Hélicoptère, which will take you from Nice to Cannes in around seven minutes and for just over €500.

Where to stay during the Cannes Yachting Festival

Cannes has a large selection of different types of accommodation. From luxurious five-star hotels to more affordable apartments, there is something to suit every budget. Just make sure you book in advance as the city gets very busy during the boat show.

The annual International Boat Show at Cannes has become one of the largest in Europe. 

One of the biggest yachting festivals in Europe, nearly 600 boats are on display both in and out of the water in two of Cannes most exclusive marinas; the Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto. The Cannes Yachting Festival brings together the key players in pleasure boating and international luxury yachting, whether they be exhibitors, yacht owners or future buyers.

Back for its highly anticipated 46th edition, the Cannes Yachting Festival is a staple event for both the yachting and social calendars of Cannes.

Scheduled to run from 12-17 September 2023, this show is one of the leading in-water yacht shows in Europe. The Cannes Yachting Festival attracts around 700 boats each year, which are divided between two iconic marinas; Vieux Port and Port Canto.

Setting itself aside from many other yachting events, the Cannes show offers visitors rare opportunities to indulge in sea trials on various motor yachts and luxury yacht charters , providing a first-hand experience of the yachting lifestyle at its best.

What to expect

Globally renowned for being one of the must-see yachting events of the year, attending the show will naturally introduce visitors to some of the biggest names and yachts on the market. Over 100 models make their global debut at the event each year, in addition to a host of toys and tender displays, showcasing the latest innovative developments in the industry.  

Highlights of the 2023 edition will include the new floating exhibition of small boats with sizes ranging between 8 and 12 metres. Relocated from the land-based exhibition area on the Quai Max Laubeuf, organizers of the event have created a new dedicated area in the heart of Vieux Port to showcase the smaller models in a new light.

Second 26m Aegean Explorer Hekate delivered ahead of Cannes Yachting Festival

Bodrum-based shipyard Aegean Yacht has delivered the second unit in its 26-metre Aegean Explorer series. Hekate will be showcased at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

The 187GT explorer yacht is built in steel and aluminium and has been designed and engineered entirely in-house as a "go-everywhere" yacht. The yacht boasts a simple exterior with a dual-tone paint job disguising her height and volume.

The interior is described as clean and elegant, made up of materials including silky matte-finished limewashed oak, white lacquer, and stainless steel touches.

Standard accommodation configuration allows for 12 guests in six cabins including three full-beam master suites. The upper deck master suite is a particular highlight, featuring a private terrace with seating and sunbathing areas, customisable to the owner's preferences. There are a further two twin cabins and a VIP suite on the lower deck, all designed to create a luxurious and relaxing atmosphere.

Guests can make the most of the relaxing external areas, which include the bridge deck forward and aft of the sky lounge, as well as the aft deck and swim platform.

Power derives from a pair of 650 HP MAN engines which enable her to achieve a top speed of 12.7 knots and a range of 3,500 nautical miles at economic cruising speed.

Hekate is currently for sale with Denison Yachting. The first hull, named Ukiel , was delivered in November 2023.

Cannes Yachting Festival 2024: Port Canto will host a new marina for boats up to 12 meters

With only eight months left until the opening of the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 , this edition is set to introduce a series of exciting innovations that will redefine the visitors’ experience, aiming to further consolidate the Festival’s position as one of the most prestigious yachting events worldwide.

Already recognized as the “ number one ” in-water boat show in Europe, the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 will bring many novelties to visitors and industry professionals. The transformation of Cannes’ Vieux Port, initiated this year and scheduled until 2026 , has garnered significant attention, paving the way for various innovations that enhance the Festival even more.

However, the most surprising development is the creation of a new marina at Port Canto , dedicated to motorboats of smaller size, ranging from 8 to 12 meters . This bold yet necessary move brings smaller-sized boats to the Cannes Yachting Festival. The new marina, spanning over 1,700 square meters with over 300 meters of quayside, will be positioned between the Sailing and Brokerage & Toys areas, accommodating 170 units – 150 in the water and around twenty on land, with rigid or semi-rigid hulls. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to admire a selection of outboard motors suitable for boats of these dimensions.

Another interesting innovation is the opening to the public of sea trials for small motorboats. Thanks to motorized pontoons, visitors will have the unique opportunity to experience these boats firsthand, adding an interactive and engaging element to the Festival.

This initiative, in addition to overcoming the logistical challenges of the ongoing work at Vieux Port, will allow visitors to take a complete tour of the harbor, exploring nearly 340 boats covering a wide range of sizes and categories. In particular, 120 new boats over 10 meters, 170 power boats of 8 meters, and approximately 50 used yachts larger than 24 meters will be on display.

Additional improvements at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 also include the introduction of new services: an additional restaurant spanning over 450 square meters with a capacity of 130 guests, a dedicated entrance for exhibitors , and a renovated VIP Club that we look forward to exploring.

L’ormai prossimo Cannes Yachting Festival sarà per ICE YACHTS un evento fuori dall’ordinario che, ancora una volta, testimonia la grande energia con cui questo cantiere sta progressivamente conquistando un pubblico sempre più vasto.

Ben due infatti le premiere mondiali che verranno esposte: ICE 66 rs e ICE 53 ST, due barche a vela fuori dal comune, che arrivano al salone nautico più importante della stagione con contenuti che definire innovativi sarebbe un eufemismo e che noi abbiamo avuto  il piacere di provare in anteprima.

Ma andiamo per ordine e scopriamo insieme quali sono i motivi per cui queste imbarcazioni di ICE YACHTS sono così interessanti.

ICE YACHTS – ICE 66 rs

Questa barca a vela segna l’inizio della collaborazione di ICE YACHTS con un team di lavoro straordinario. L’architettura navale e li linee di carena sono state infatti create magistralmente da Farr Yacht Design, mentre l’incomparabile bellezza dell’interior ed exterior design si deve alla mente geniale di Lucio Micheletti che, come vedrete, ha disegnato qualcosa di di unico.

“ È stato il primo, ma non sarà certamente l’ultimo progetto che affideremo a questo fantastico team – dichiara Marco Malgara presidente di ICE YACHTS – pensiamo che il nuovo ICE 66 rs arriverà a fare in breve tempo circa un terzo dei nostri ricavi, grazie anche allo sviluppo delle vendite nei mercati nord americani”.

“ICE 66 rs è un’imbarcazione lussuosa, caratterizzata da un design d’interni dedicato ai palati più raffinati – commenta Ingrid Maria Torres direttore creativo di ICE YACHTS – Questa nostra nuova creazione riesce a soddisfare chi non si accontenta dell’eccellenza nella tecnica e nelle performance ma cerca il massimo anche nel livello degli arredi e delle finiture”.

LINK ALLA PROVA IN MARE DELL’ ICE 66 RS

Un miracolo che ICE YACHTS ha reso possibile grazie ad un kit di trasformazione che consente di passare dalla versione regata a quella crociera in un paio d’ore , sostituendo i paglioli, le porte delle cabine, la cucina, il tavolo della dinette, le cuscinerie e i materassi. L’ingombro di questo kit sta in un piccolo furgone (o nel garage del marina) e permette cosi di passare dal materiale lussuoso (e pesante) della versione crociera, a quello alleggerito della versione regata che, mirabilmente, riesce a contenere il peso di questo 16 metri in sole 10 tonnellate.

ICE YACHTS ha realizzato il nuovo 53 ST interamente in carbonio, con fibre quadriassiali e monodirezionali, una tecnica che consente di laminare tramite un’infusione di resina epossidrica a tre step, realizzata su un nucleo di PVC a cellula chiusa.

Vom 10. bis zum 15. September rollt das Cannes Yachting Festival seinen roten Teppich für die internationale Yachtbranche und deren Gäste aus.

In der Marina von Port Canto, dort wo Besucher Segelyachten von 30 bis 130 Fuß finden, zeigt BAVARIA YACHTS die neuesten Modelle BAVARIA C38, C42 und C46 der erfolgreichen BAVARIA C-LINE. Im vergangenen Jahr feierte die BAVARIA C46 in Cannes ihre Weltpremiere. In diesem Jahr kommt sie als European Yacht of the Year mit vielen neuen Features an Bord zurück.

Eine der neuen Optionen an Bord ist unter anderem ein innovatives Wasseraufbereitungssystem der schwedischen Firma Watersprint. Mittels UVC-LED-Technologie wird das Wasser aus den Tanks an Bord in reines Trinkwasser verwandelt. Damit stehen auf der C46 plötzlich 800 Liter Trinkwasser zur Verfügung.

Das System ist ebenfalls für die größeren Schwestern C50 und C57 erhältlich. Wer auf langen Törns noch unabhängiger von Trinkwasser aus der Marina werden möchte, dem bietet BAVARIA YACHTS ab September 2024 einen Watermaker mit einer Leistung von 60 bis 100 Liter pro Stunde ab Werft an.
