BUGATTI NINIETTE 66: THE YACHT INSPIRED BY CHIRON SUPERCAR
- March 13, 2017
With a length of 20 metres, a jacuzzi positioned in the cockpit , a 40-knot maximum speed and a price of almost 2.6 million dollars, the new Bugatti Niniette 66 is a yacht inspired by an automobile luxury symbol, the Bugatti Chiron.
The project had been already discussed in 2015 when the management of the car manufacturer and that of Palmer Johnson , a luxury yacht builder, started to consider an idea that was not particularly original but certainly efficient: to put the strengths of the two brands together and craft a yacht based on the design of a supercar. During almost two years, the projects took shape and, now, it has been officially announced: the project of the first Palmer Johnson Bugatti Niniette 66 (this is the full name of the yacht) is finally ready and paves the way for a series of yachts ranging from 50 up to 80 feet .
The yacht is totally made of carbon fiber in order to reduce displacement and increase robustness and rigidity . The reversed sharp bow widens to the hull sides and defines a very large maximum beam combined with two side sponsons which contribute to reduce rolling and increase stability in navigation.
The deck perfectly reflects the typical Bugatti style in terms of materials , which are all hand-crafted, from leather to tissues, and colours . But the most remarkable features are the presence of a jacuzzi in the cockpit , located just behind the pilot station and convertible into a sun pad, and a fire pit . The latter might seem to be a too risky choice but the two manufacturers guarantee the total safety of the device.
Of course, the pilot station , too, is completely based on the design of Bugatti supercars, with a steering wheel which was literally uprooted from the Chiron and installed on the Niniette 66. The yacht is fitted with two MAN engines outputting 1,000 and 1,200 HP.
Interiors show a very original design . First of all, they include only one large central cabin .This is the standard layout but, of course, customers can benefit from many customization possibilities. However, an increase in the number of cabins might distort the design of this boat, where luxury is expressed also in terms of space. On the bow, in fact, there’s a large lounge whose sofas follow the hull profile. Matching materials including brushed steel, leather and marble create an extraordinary elegance effect.
As we’ve already said, it’s the first model born out of the collaboration between the two companies even if, in 1930, company founder Ettore Bugatti was commissioned by Prince Carlo Maurizio Ruspoldi to build a boat. It was christened Niniette, after the name of a dog owned and much loved by the Bugatti family.

What Richard Rawlings’ Car Collection Was Really Worth When Sold
The 1934 chrysler airflow was a flop that became a classic icon, the most powerful v8 car you can buy for $50,000.
Bugatti is no stranger to working with other brands to create extremely luxurious and limited items. From a $280,000 watch with a small working W16 in its case to a fully Hermes leather wrapped one-off Chiron , if it’s not opulent, it’s not Bugatti.
The French automaker has now partnered up with legendary yacht builder Palmer Johnson, to create a Chiron inspired superyacht. Much like the hypercar on which it's based, there is no shortage of exotic materials across the hull of the elegant ship. Dubbed the Bugatti Niniette 66, it will carry a starting price of around $4 million dollars. It's also just one of three new ships Bugatti has committed to building in the near future.

A Bugatti For The Seas
A quick glance at the Bugatti Niniette 66's side profile reveals some heavy design inspiration taken directly from the brands flagship model, the Chiron. The C shaped line is a staple design cue of the brand and is known affectionately as the Bugatti line. This impressive design detail stretches across the hull of the yacht and serves to break up the design and provide some color contrast. In the rendered image above, the dark blue parts of the ship are all finished in exposed gloss blue carbon fiber.
The Niniette name is particularly special to the French automaker seeing as it was the preferred nickname of Lidia Bugatti, the daughter of company founder Ettore Bugatti.
RELATED: An Inside Look At Travis Scott’s Insane $3 Million Bugatti Chiron
How Does It Stack Up?
Like the name suggests, only 66 examples of the Niniette will ever be built, ranging from 50 to 80 feet depending on the specification. Although it is a limited production run, the website for the ship does not specify a delivery date or if any have been yet been sold.
Under the hood you’ll find two Man V8’s propelling the yacht forward via a water-jet system. The Niniette 66 will be able to carry up to 3,000 liters of fuel. At full tilt, the opulent ship will be able to hit a top speed of 50 miles per hour (44 knots).
A long list of available extras are available and the yacht itself is completely customizable, in theory you would match your ship to your exact Chiron specification. The customized interior will be able to accommodate a maximum of 21 people at a time. A word of warning however, the top speed is calculated without the inclusion of the available extras onboard, adding them will greatly affect the overall performance.
Carbon Overload
Speaking of options, almost all of the optional extras available for the Niniette are made of carbon fiber. Consider the massive carbon fiber jacuzzi placed strategically in the very center of the vessel, or the optional carbon fiber fireplace situated directly behind the captain’s seat.
The carbon doesn’t stop there, entire hull and deck of the ship are covered in a carbon composite. Although it can be argued that the use of lightweight materials on such a massively heavy ship seems like a waste, in true Bugatti fashion, it is more an exercise of beauty rather than practicality.
Exclusive Opulence
A lesser known fact about Bugatti is that back in 1930, they were commissioned by Prince Carlo Maurizio Ruspoli to create a one-off speedboat. Much like this modern interpretation, the original Bugatti speedboat was named the Niniette.
It seems as though this collaboration used one of Ettore Bugatti’s most famous quotes as its ethos “nothing is too beautiful, nothing is too expensive”. It's over $4 million price tag certainly confirms it. As Bugatti has confirmed that there will be two others, we can assume they will be launched as Bugatti launches new models in the near future.

Bugatti Niniette 66 Yacht Shows Off The Best Of Both Worlds
By Victor Baker
Published on March 15, 2017
The stunning Bugatti Niniette 66 is the result of a new incredible collaboration between the automotive magicians from Bugatti and the brilliant team at Palmer Johnson Yachts. The 66-feet vessel was specially designed to match the Bugatti Chiron , both on the inside and outside, with Palmer Johnson taking care of the unique naval architecture and engineering for this beauty.
Showing off a slender monohull, stabilized by a sponson on each side, this striking yacht will prove to be a great ride, as it’s super easy to control at any speeds. That might come in handy, since this limited-edition vessel is fully capable of achieving a top speed 44 knots, which is more than enough for thrills seekers and even for Bugatti owners.
The Bugatti Niniette 66 also comprises a very impressive master suite, with soft leathers, polished metal, suede, and carbon adding to the luxurious appeal of this vessel. There’s also a charming salon with macaron skylight, a marble-clad guest bathroom, and a small galley kitchen – you won’t find these features in a Chiron, by the way.
But there’s even more exclusivity to be enjoyed on board, as this yacht also comes with a fire pit, Jacuzzi, sun pads, and a Champagne bar, to help you forget about all your worries, and also to remind you that you’re one of just 66 people who wad the privilege of purchasing this beauty.
Powered by fuel-efficient MAN V-8 engines, and with MJP waterjets worthy of some attention, the Bugatti Niniette 66 will easily prove itself to be a worthy investment. Guests will compete to pilot this joy-stick-controlled speedboat, but we think it’s safe to suggest to take it slow. By the way, there’s no info on pricing just yet.

Introducing the Bugatti Niniette 66 Luxury Yacht
By Lauren Jade Hill
After coming up with their collaborative design for the new yacht, the two companies presented their idea to a number of potential buyers who expressed an interest in it exhibiting a closer resemblance to the Bugatti Chiron; this was the beginning of the Bugatti Niniette 66 and its distinct design.
The yacht’s spacious open deck then reflects Bugatti’s focus on craftsmenship through the use of carbon fibre along with fine leather and blue morta oak wood, while the lower part of the deck encompasses a Jacuzzi, sun pad and champagne bar, which sits between two social areas accommodating up to 12 guests, and alongside a centrally located fire pit.
Below deck, the spacious interior brings together polished metal, carbon, leather and marble, with a large Bugatti horseshow seating area at its heart, a macaron-shaped window for natural light to come streaming in through, and a luxurious master suite. And just like with Bugatti’s other models, the interior and exterior are both customizable.

With just as much attention paid to performance, the yacht’s slim main hull translates to high speeds with lower input power and fuel burn, and the side sponsons ensure increased stability at rest; the yacht reaches top speeds of 44 knots, with a shallow draft of 0.83 meters.

Boat of the Week: This 138-Foot Superyacht Is Worth $23 Million, but You Can Own It for the Price of a Supercar

A 2022 Bugatti Chiron supercar, top speed 217mph, would set you back a cool $3.3 million. Hard to believe that, for the same money, you could become the proud owner of a brand-new, 138-foot, Italian-built superyacht worth about $23.3 million.
The yacht is the rugged, explorer-style Dream FL42 designed by the Swiss yacht management company Floating Life. It will start construction at the CCN yard in Carrara, Italy, early next year. When it’s launched in 2025, it will have room for 14 guests in seven cabins.

How is ownership possible for a fraction of the price? Fractional ownership . The one-asset, multi-owner business model has been popular with business jets for decades, though it never really caught on in the yachting world.

Floating Life is hoping to change that. “It’s the price of one of seven equal shares,” Filippo Rossi, Floating Life’s commercial director, told Robb Report . “It offers all the joys of superyacht ownership, but without the headaches.”
An owner would get a total of 31 days of using the yacht each year, split between the Mediterranean in the summer, and Caribbean in the winter. Annual running costs of about $250,000 would also be part of the ownership scheme.
That fixed fee would cover all operating and maintenance costs, technical support, crew management, logistics, and 24/7 access to Floating Life’s concierge service.
There won’t be any wild colors or custom art on the yacht. Just a conservative palette and conventional decor. Courtesy Floating Life
While Floating Life has been involved in fractional ownership for the past 15 years, its new FL42—christened “Dream”—is the first yacht the company is building from scratch. Designed by Floating Life co-founder Andrea Pezzini, its interior is by the Rome-based Satura Studio, with naval architecture by Zero13.
Featuring a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, the yacht’s range will be over 5,000 nautical miles, with power from a pair of Caterpillar C32 diesels.
The yacht, says Rossi, has been designed to suit the demands of fractional ownership with a focus on flexibility and oversized interior spaces. That includes an expansive beach club and spa at the stern, and six huge exterior entertaining and relaxing areas on the three decks.
The explorer style includes an unusual stern beach club. Courtesy Floating Life
A novel feature is the location of the engine room deep in the hull. Not only does it lower the yacht’s center of gravity and improve stability, but it also allows the lower deck guest cabins—four VIPs and two twins—to be positioned above it providing same-level, no-stairs access to the beach club. The full-width owner’s suite is on the main deck, with twin drop-down balconies.
Satura Studio’s interior design is intentionally neutral with 50 shades of gray, white and beige. The one downside of fractional ownership is that owners can’t incorporate their personal tastes. No wild colors, no crystal chandeliers, no funky art that might not meet the tastes of the other six owners.
Another negative is that use is limited to 31 days, so no last-minute getaways and no guaranteed slot for New Year’s Eve in St. Barth’s. And if the majority of owners decide to send the yacht to a cruising area you don’t like, you might have to accept the consensus. Rossi says owners can sell their shares at any time and charter the boat if they don’t want to use their time slots.
The fractional model hasn’t really taken off in yachting like it has in business aviation. “It’s a different kind of commitment,” says a Floating Life executive. Courtesy Floating Life
Two owners, both new to fractional ownership, have reportedly signed up to buy a share of “Dream.”
“These are people who could easily afford their own superyacht, but don’t have the time to use one for more than four weeks a year,” says Rossi. “Yes, they can charter, but they tell us they like the idea of being a shareholder in a yacht and crew they know.”
With its wild Normal Foster design, Ocean Pearl is also on the fractional market. Courtesy Floating Life
Floating Life can offer a stake in the company’s original fractional ownership yacht, the well-known 134-foot Rodriguez-built “Ocean Pearl.” The polarizing design by Lord Norman Foster is available for a $500,000, or the price of a new Ferrari SF90 (MSRP $511,000).
As for comparing fractional ownership between jets and yachts, Rossi says it’s a matter of apples and oranges. “With a jet all you are doing is buying time for different hours, and typically for business travel,” he says. “With yachts the focus is different. It’s about pleasure, relaxation and being with family and friends. It’s a different kind of commitment.”

Making waves with Bugatti’s new luxury yacht
Taking clear design inspiration from Bugatti’s land-based machines (the shoulder line from the Type 57 C Atalante, for example), the carbonfibre-hulled luxury yacht is the first product of Bugatti’s lifestyle partnership with Palmer Johnson. Bugatti’s founder Ettore Bugatti developed racing boats in the 1930s, and this new example will be aptly named Niniette – a pet name Ettore used for both his daughter Lidia and, incidentally, for one of his boats.

Bugatti Chiron Super Yacht Price, Specs, Release Date and Photos
Mar 14, 2017 07:52 PM EDT | Ileen Jasmine
Ultra-luxury French car manufacturer Bugatti has recently announced its partnership with Palmer Johnson yachts to create the Bugatti Niniette 66. It is the luxury yacht version of the Bugatti Chiron supercar.
The Bugatti Niniette 66 is a limited edition vessel inspired by the iconic Bugatti Chiron which retails for $2.2 million each and can go as fast as 241 miles per hour. The Bugatti Super Yacht can go as fast as 44 knots.
It is a 66-foot-long yacht made entirely of carbon fiber composite. The materials boost its structural rigidity while reducing its weight and increasing its efficiency at the same time.
Inside, the Bugatti Chiron Super Yacht offers a huge open-plan interior all complete with a wide sofa in the shape of a horseshoe. Naturally, a flat screen TV is also inside.
The open deck also features naturally blue morta oak wood, and it comes with luxurious leather seats. On the lower deck, passengers can enjoy the luxe champagne bar.
It also has its own sun pad, fire pit and a private Jacuzzi with stunning views of the ocean outside. The Bugatti Niniette 66 also has its own master suite with a king-sized bed and large sofa bed for guests.
The bathroom has no shortage of luxury as well. It has marble accents. A gallery kitchen complete with a fridge, sink, and microwave are also inside.
All of these features can only be enjoyed by two passengers at a time, as the yacht is intended to carry only two passengers. As of the moment, Bugatti has remained quiet about the price of the Bugatti Chiron Super Yacht.
One thing is for certain, though, and that is only 66 of these yachts are being put up for sale. The photos of the Bugatti Niniette 66 has also been revealed. An excerpt from Thrillist report about the yacht reads:
"The challenge was to create an experience and a persona as much as a yacht, from streamlined luxury, sophisticated style and unprecedented quality," Timur Mohamed, CEO of Palmer Johnson, said. "For owners of tomorrow, Niniette will lift your expectations of life even higher.
According to reports, the Bugatti Chiron Super Yacht models will be delivered in March 2018. Keep checking back on Auto World News for more updates.

This $39 million superyacht comes with a $3 million Bugatti and a spot on deck to park it — take a closer look at 'Xenos'
- Xenos is a new superyacht concept that comes with a $3 million Bugatti Chiron.
- There's also an on-deck garage with a folding ramp that lets you drive right onto and off of the superyacht.
- The top-of-the-line Xenos will cost around $39 million, have 15,000 horsepower, and be able to hit a claimed top speed of more than 100 mph, according to Lazzarini Design Studio, which designed the yacht.
- Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories .
Companies often try to lure customers in with attractive buy-one-get-one deals, but one design studio is taking that a step further by offering clients a Bugatti with the purchase of their next yacht.
Lazzarini Design Studio has penned a new superyacht concept called Xenos, and it comes with a complimentary Bugatti Chiron. Odds are that someone with the cash for a $39 million superyacht already has a supercar or two in the garage, but what's one more for the collection?
Not to mention, Xenos has a few more tricks up its sleeve, such as roof-mounted solar panels, auto-tinting windows, and a claimed top speed of more than 100 mph.
Check out some renderings of Xenos, which was brought to our attention by Robb Report , below.
Xenos is a superyacht concept that offers something most other yachts don't.
It comes with a Bugatti Chiron — one of the quickest, most powerful, and all-around wildest vehicles on the market today — included.
Not only that — the yacht has a compartment to store your new Chiron while out on the high seas.
Thanks to an extending ramp, you can hop in your Chiron, rip a burnout right onto the dock, and speed away to your waterfront villa — all with minimal contact with the common folk hanging about the marina.
You see, it's all about COVID safety.
When the Bugatti's in the shop, Xenos owners can keep other toys like jet skis and boats in the garage.
But the $39 million superyacht has plenty more going for it than just a free supercar.
Built from carbon fiber and aluminum, Xenos's 130-foot hull is designed for high speeds.
Lazzarini Design Studio, the firm behind the concept, says Xenos will be able to hit speeds of 90 knots — roughly 104 mph — in its most powerful 15,000-horsepower configuration.
That would make it the fastest 130-foot yacht in existence, Lazzarini says.
Plus, it'll be available in standard and hydrofoil versions.
The yacht comes with windows that automatically tint depending on how bright it is outside.
Not to mention, there will be solar panels integrated into the roof ...
... and Xenos will be available in a hybrid-electric version.
As for the interior, buyers can choose from various layouts.
Renderings show a living room and kitchen area ...
... a lounge with a TV ...
... and another sitting area.
If you have a need for speed both on land and on water, you'll be in luck whenever Xenos goes from concept to reality.

This $2.2 Million Bugatti Yacht Is Perfect For Supervillains
In the Niniette, you can sit in the jacuzzi or beside the fire pit while plotting world domination
You're one of the world's preeminent supervillains. You're richer than God, you've got all the latest toys and plenty of lairs in which to plan your next dastardly deed. But do you have this new $2.2 million luxury superyacht, the Niniette 66, made by premiere automotive manufacturer Bugatti? No? Well, how are you going to impress all the other supervillains?
The sleek craft comes in at 66 feet long (20 meters, if you want to be all metric about it), and boasts a number of amenities, perfect for the sea-faring nefarious ne'er-do-well. First, the Niniette, built in a collaborative effort between Bugatti and superyacht maker Palmer Johnson , is a fast little sucker, capable of cruising along at 44 knots. For the uninitiated, that's about 50 miles an hour, which is quite quick on the open seas. Good for eluding the Coast Guard cutters and slower military vessels, should they foolishly give chase.
Second, it's got a shallow draft, only about 2.7 feet, meaning you'll be able to maneuver to all the regular ports of call with traditionally shallow waters, such as the Grand Cayman Islands, where you can visit your money laundering operation.
Like the Bugatti Chiron which which this luxury yacht shares design DNA, the Niniette will not hold more than two people comfortably. You could have your trusted No. 2 henchman on board, but you'll want to make full use of that on-deck jacuzzi, so it's probably best to bring a comely evil vixen to soak with. Apres hot tub, warm up by the on-board fire pit. Or you can use the flames to incinerate sensitive documents AKA evidence.
Lastly, you can boast to anyone who'll listen about how your Bugatti boat is made of only the finest materials, including carbon fiber, leather and blue morta oak wood, which Google reveals to be a type of bog-wood that's particularly resistant to decay. You can share that last fact with whatever foe you've tied up and shoved on the aft deck as you motor out to sea to dispose of him or her.
The only question is should you even BUY one of the 66 versions of the Bugatti Niniette, because Bugatti is also allegedly making a larger variant, expected to get up to 80 feet long. And really, who wants to have the smaller Bugatti superyacht? How gauche.

Ditching grandstand seating for the best view of the track, motorsport moguls have turned to waterside docking, where they lounge out and spectate from the comfort of superyachts and megayachts. Taking things even a step further at last year’s 80th running of the Monaco GP, Film Director Tom Claeren , Car & Car Italy, and Altr teamed up to display an actual Ferrari F40 on the deck of a massive yacht. Back to one-up the Ferrari F40 with something more modern, Tom McLaeren has partnered with Libertex Europe Official and Boutsen Classic Cars to feature a Bugatti Chiron deck-side on a luxury superyacht named “Seven Sins.”
Using the same risky technique to get the multi-million dollar hypercar onto the vessel, the team hoisted the French Racing Blue Bugatti Chiron with a crane and perfectly placed it on the front bow. The intricate operation was a sight to see in itself, watching the Bugatti suspending from the air while guiding it into position. The entire process was documented and uploaded to Tom Claeren’s Instagram, where he wrote in the caption, “See you in #Monaco.” While the Monaco Grand Prix stands out as a bucket list opportunity for any motorsport fan, watching it oceanside on a yacht with a $3 million Bugatti Chiron next to you may be even rare. This weekend, tune into the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix and watch for the superyacht sporting a Bugatti Chiron as a deck decoration. Bugatti Tourbillon revealed – the 1775bhp, V16-engined Chiron successor is here
Aston Martin, GMA, Ferrari and now Bugatti are proving that the naturally aspirated super-engine is far from being dead yet. With its 986bhp 8.3-litre V16 engine the new Bugatti Tourbillon is a force of nature on paper, and we cannot wait to find out what it sounds like from inside when approaching its 9000rpm rev limit.
There is a nod to modernity to the Tourbillon’s powertrain in that it is also equipped with a front e-axle powered by two electric motors, with a third electric motor mounted on the rear axle. Combined they deliver an additional 789bhp to give the Tourbillon its headline 1775bhp power figure. It’s also a hypercar with a ₹ 32.25 crore price tag (without India duties and taxes) with production limited to 250 units, with spin-off derivatives to follow when production starts in 2026.
‘Some thought we might combine a Nevera with a Chiron’ says Bugatti boss Mate Rimac, ‘but that wouldn’t be a Bugatti. And our customers like the emotion of an internal combustion engine and I have to build cars our customers want to buy'. The Tourbillon's mechanical layout was first devised in 2020, when Rimac built a scale model featuring a V16 engine supported by three electric motors – having pitched the idea he got the green light to make the concept a reality.
A pure internal combustion engine for the Tourbillon was ruled out on the grounds it wouldn’t deliver a performance advantage over the Chiron, so too did any notion to hybridise the proven turbocharged 8-litre W16 engine, primarily because the weight would have spiralled out of control. Removing the turbos to make the W16 a naturally aspirated motor was also discarded because the height of the engine and its layout compromised the design and packaging of the new model.
The 90-degree cross-plane crank V16 weighs 252kg less than the outgoing W16 despite measuring 29mm longer and being a metre in total length. It sits lower in the chassis and, unlike the W16, which was developed and built in house by VW, the V16’s design, development and construction has been undertaken by Cosworth.
The engine drives through an eight-speed DCT and there's an e-motor at the rear (along with an e-LSD) that hangs off the back of the gearbox generating 335bhp and 450Nm. The two front motors each produce 335bhp and 300Nm and all are powered by a 25kWh oil-cooled 800 volt battery that’s housed in the transmission tunnel and behind the passenger cell, forming a structural part of the monocoque. Each motor can spin up to 24,000rpm, with the e-axles delivering over 8bhp per kg of e-axle mass, which includes the inverters, motor and gearboxes.
Bugatti’s latest powertrain sits in a new carbon monocoque, which includes a Formula 1-inspired rear diffuser that forms part of the crash structure and underfloor of the car, hence why it’s two metres in length. The suspension is multi-link front and rear with dual valve damper technology, and the hardware is 45 percent lighter than the Chiron’s. New bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres (345/30 x 21 on the rear, a 285/35 x 20 on the front) are fitted as standard.
All this makes for, as you’d expect, some remarkable figures: a claimed sub two-second 0-100kmph time (pipe down Plaid owners), less than five seconds to reach 193kmph, under ten to crack 290kmph, less than 25 seconds to reach 386kmph before it’s all done (a relative term, obviously) at 444kmph, although Mate points that this isn’t the maximum and there’s more to come. On top of this, it will cover up to 60km on electric power and charge from zero to 80 percent in 12 minutes.
On current emissions regulations it's 25 percent cleaner than a Chiron, and despite the 300kg hybrid system it weighs a comparable 1995kg. The Tourbillon uses lighter componentry than its predecessor – including the combustion engine and 3D-printed suspension parts – to achieve this.
It also sits 33mm lower than a Chiron yet has the same internal dimensions. Inspired by the Type 57C and 35 from Bugatti’s past, Director of Design Frank Heyl has taken the modern Bugatti design language and blended it with traditional cues. It’s unmistakably a modern Bugatti but there’s also more function and detail in the Tourbillon’s surfaces, a tension that portrays the performance encased within. The philosophy was to improve on what had gone before, not to redesign for the sake of it. Think iPhone, Rolex Daytona and the Porsche 911.
Aerodynamics are a large factor in the Tourbillon’s design. There’s a wing, naturally, but its not the primary source of downforce at the rear – that role is taken by a diffuser beginning at the rear of the passenger cell and running either side of the engine (which is narrower than the W16, allowing for bigger venturi tunnels). The rear wing doubles as an air brake and is electronically controlled rather than hydraulic to save weight.
The inside is equally as bespoke and distinctive as the exterior, your eyes immediately drawn to the instrument dials positioned on top of the steering column. If you’re wondering where the name for Bugatti’s latest model came from you’ll work it out the moment you see the dials. Inspired by the horlogerie philosophy, the instrument display is Swiss watchmaking in automotive form. Constructed from titanium, the cluster weighs just 700g and is made up of more than 600 parts with the smallest measuring just five microns. As you turn the outer wheel rim, the dials and centre boss of the wheel stay in position.
t’s a mesmerising piece of design engineering, although hopefully not too distracting as you crack the magic double-ton. The left hand instruments are for coolant, fuel and EV power and use 160 individual parts, the central speedo and rev counter consisting of 250 parts with 150 LEDs to illuminate it all. To the right is Bugatti’s trademark power dial.
Screens are all but banished in the Tourbillon. The floating centre console is machined from a single piece of billet aluminium to create its skeletal design and uses ‘Boheim’ crystal glass. The only screen in the car is no larger than an iPhone’s and sits at the top of the console and retracts when not in use.
The floor-hinged pedal box moves while the seat is fixed, although the backrest and base are adjustable for comfort. The drive mode control is a rotary dial on the steering wheel and every detail throughout the interior is exquisite, the type of jewellery your mum told you not to touch even when you didn’t have sticky fingers.
In the hypercar world Bugatti has often been portrayed with a quiet confidence in everything it does. While others have chased lap times, top speed, exclusivity or all three it has remained focused on its objectives. In the Tourbillon that focus eclipses all that has gone before, and customers will feel the results of this when deliveries commence in 2026.

What Would It Take To Own A Bugatti Chiron In India?
The Bugatti Chiron is the epitome of performance. An example of what French performance under German oversight could achieve. Bugatti describes the Chiron as a car “not for standard car enthusiasts”; it is meant for “extraordinary people”, which might be true. An average Bugatti owner, according to Bugatti president, Wolfgang Durheimer, owns “64 cars, 3 jets, 3 helicopters and a yacht.” That’s a rare breed to find!
So, moving on to what it would take to own a Bugatti Chiron in India. The first thing is boatloads of money. And that is the only thing that matters, really. All other things are second to that. Why do I say so? You’ll find out.
The first thing would be the car itself. The Chiron has completed its 500-unit production run, so the only option is a pre-owned one. And since there were no Chiron sales in India, it is evident that one has to be imported into India. But where to import it from?
From my research, buying a pre-owned one from Japan is the cheapest. 2018, pre-owned Chiron with very low mileage in excellent condition would cost somewhere in the JPY 467 million region. Which at today’s exchange rate would be approximately INR 27.42 Crores. This is just the start of the long list.
After buying the car overseas, it would be time to ship it to India. Depending on the company, sending the vehicle to India would cost approximately 3-6 Lakhs by sea and even more by air. This shipping cost includes the cost of marine insurance too.
Obviously, someone buying a car like this might not even blink at that price but then comes the next significant expense in the form of Indian Customs. First, the vehicle must be right-hand driven to be imported into India. This would not apply to the Chiron because they’re all left-hand drive cars. But through certain loopholes, I’m sure agents can facilitate your import. In exchange for some pink notes, of course!
The import duty on used cars in India is 125% of the car’s CIF value. CIF stands for cost, insurance & freight. Insurance in this context is marine insurance for transportation. So, at the CIF value of INR 27.48 Crores approximately, the car would be subject to INR 34.35 Crores. The car’s final landed price in India is around INR 61.83 Crores.
The long list of procedures and costs is still ongoing. After completing all the import formalities, the car must be registered in India to be driven on public roads. We will assume the vehicle to be registered in Mumbai. This car is undoubtedly applicable in the highest road tax bracket in Maharashtra at 13% of the car’s value. The road tax will be applicable on the car’s cost, so 13% on INR 27.42 Crores. That is 3.56 Crores in road tax alone. But the good news is that road tax in Maharashtra for private buyers is capped at INR 20 Lakh. Which is what will be applicable if bought and registered in a private name.
Post registration, the car will need to be insured. Of course, it will be. I would also insure it against the breeze because it would be a nightmare to have something happen to the car and not have it covered. Since no Bugatti has ever been insured in India, we have no past references. But, based on my research and the quotes we received from the insurance companies, the insurance on the car will set the owner back somewhere in the region of 20-25 lakhs per annum.
This is the Bugatti Chiron’s on-road price in India. INR 65.64 Crores approximately. But now comes the big part, paying for the car. Of course, 65.64 Crores might be peanuts to someone buying a Bugatti Chiron. Still, financing a vehicle through a bank loan makes complete economic sense. Or does it?
Since the car’s on-road price is INR 65.64 Crores, banks usually finance up to 85% of the on-road cost of a vehicle. Considering the maximum possible finance amount, the down payment for the car would be INR 9.8 Crores. That’s almost the price for a brand spanking new Rolls!
Considering that the car is financed for 5 years at a 7.5% interest rate, the EMI on the car would turn out to be INR 1.11 Crores a month! That’s a GLS every month. Moreover, the buyer ends up paying INR 11.29 Crores as interest to the bank. This is honestly where my brain blows a fuse!
Now that the car is on the road and paid for, the owner has to drive it. We all know that Bugatti cars are damn expensive to run. The Bugatti Chiron’s fuel economy can range anywhere between a Boeing 747 and an uncontrolled refinery fire. While running at its top speed of 420kmph, the Chiron can guzzle up its 100-litre fuel tank in 9 minutes. 100 octane fuel allows the Bug to produce those 1500 French-German crossbred horses. 100 octane fuel in India costs INR 160 per litre. That’s 16 large for a full fuel tank gone in 9 minutes when at top speed. I’m sure IOCL share prices will rise if someone imports a Chiron! The lowest claimed fuel economy on the Chiron is 2.3kmpl. So every kilometre in the Chiron will cost just under 70 rupees. I guess oil really is liquid gold?
The maintenance of a Bugatti is like its performance. Incredibly high and expensive. The annual service is the first item on the long list of Bugatti maintenance. Since this is India and there are no service centres here, the owner will have to ship the car over to the nearest service centre. Which would be either Dubai or Singapore. Shipping to the service centre & back should cost somewhere around 10 lakhs on top of the service cost. The annual oil change/service cost is approximately INR 20 lakhs. That’s 30 lakhs a year on yearly maintenance.
The tires on a Chiron need to be changed every 16 months, which costs around INR 9 lakhs for the set, including import duties. Even the wheels need to be changed after every 16,000 km. a new set of wheels, including import duty, would cost approximately INR 53 Lakhs. The cherry on top is that a new set of brakes for the car costs INR 1.25 Crores!
In continuation with extra-terrestrial prices, all four turbos on the Chiron must be replaced every four years. Which includes import duties and should cost around INR 28 lakhs. A few more things need to be done every 5 years. These include:
- Fuel Tank Replacement – INR 47 Lakh, including import duties
- Air Duct Cooler Kit replacement – INR 23 Lakh, including import duties
- Cam Shaft (Adjustment) – INR 6.5 Lakh including import duties plus 17 lakhs for labour
- Engine Tuning – INR 23 Lakhs
Let’s add those costs up, shall we? Four years with the Bugatti Chiron, assuming a running 6,000 to 7,000 Km per annum (on the high side), will include:
Annual Oil Change | 4 | INR 20 Lakhs | INR 80 Lakhs |
Wheel Replacement | 2 | INR 53 Lakhs | INR 106 Lakhs |
Tyre Change | 3 | INR 18 Lakhs | INR 54 Lakhs |
Brake Replacement | 1 | INR 125 Lakhs | INR 125 Lakhs |
Turbo Replacement | 1 | INR 28 Lakhs | INR 28 Lakhs |
Fuel Tank Replacement | 1 | INR 47 Lakh | INR 47 Lakhs |
Air Duct Cooler Kit Replacement | 1 | INR23 Lakhs | INR23 Lakhs |
Cam Shaft Adjustment | 1 | INR 24 Lakhs | INR 24 Lakhs |
Engine Tuning | 1 | INR 23 Lakhs | INR 23 Lakhs |
Shipping The Car For Service | 4 | INR 10 Lakhs | INR 40 Lakhs |
Cost of Fuel | 26,000Km | INR 70/Km | INR 18 Lakhs |
So after paying almost 8 McLaren GTs in import duties, a Creta in road tax, a Innova in insurance every year, a Cullinan as down payment, a GLS as EMI every month, 2 Urus Performantes in interest to the bank, a Seltos in fuel costs and a 296 GTB in maintenance, what do you get?
It would be way cheaper to buy and store a Chiron overseas. But, for the price, you get to be the first to import a Bugatti into India, along with many damaged front splitters on Indian speed breakers. Honestly, I hope someone willing to commit financial suicide imports a Chiron into India for all of us petrolheads to see. Still, I don’t see anyone but a 3-comma club member doing so anytime in the future.

Maintenance costs generally include cleaning and painting, engine and mechanical work, electric and electronic system repairs, and plumbing and sewage system maintenance.
Docking fees : These fees can vary based on the location, amenities, and services provided by the marina. To get a better understanding of docking fees for your yacht, research marinas near your desired location and request quotes for docking services. Insurance premiums are usually determined by factors like the yacht's value, size, age, and intended usage. When looking for a yacht, it's essential to take into account the size, features, and costs. Here are four examples of yachts available in India , showcasing a range of sizes and costs.
Small sailing yacht : Perfect for a leisurely sailing experience, a small sailing yacht can cost around ₹2 crore to ₹3 crore (20 to 30 million rupees) depending on its age and condition. These boats are generally less than 50 feet in length and can accommodate up to six people. With lower maintenance costs and fuel consumption, it's an excellent option for beginners and weekend sailors. Here is an example of an average price for a small sailing yacht .
Mid-size luxury yacht : As you move up in size and amenities, a mid-size luxury yacht of around 50 to 60 feet in length can cost anywhere from ₹5 crore to ₹30 crore (50 to 300 million rupees). These vessels are built for comfort and offer improved accommodations, entertainment areas, and more advanced navigation systems.
Large motor yacht : As the size continues to increase, large motor yachts measuring over 70 feet in length can easily exceed ₹70 crore (700 million rupees). These yachts are more luxurious, come with state-of-the-art technology, and can accommodate more guests. With more power, they are perfect for long-range cruising and hosting exclusive events.
Mega yacht : For the ultimate yachting experience, mega yachts are considered the pinnacle of luxury and status. Over 100 feet long, the price tag can reach several hundred crores, based on the level of customization you desire. Mega yachts, as their size suggests, are equipped with advanced technology, luxurious amenities, and plenty of space for entertaining.
New yachts in India
You can expect to spend anywhere from 2 to 30 crores (20 to 300 million rupees) for a new yacht, depending on the size and features of the yacht. Smaller yachts will typically be on the lower end of this range, while larger yachts will be more expensive. Some factors to consider when purchasing a new yacht include the brand, build quality, and additional features.
Used yachts can be more affordable than new ones
These are more affordable, especially if you're willing to compromise on certain features or the age of the yacht. In general, you can expect to spend around 60–70% of the original price on a used yacht. Keep in mind that the condition and maintenance history will play a significant role in determining the price of a used yacht, and it's crucial to carefully inspect any used yacht before making a purchase.
Imported yachts to India
