If you're wealthy with disposable cash these guys will be your best friend and drop everyone else to fix you're boat. If you're a working boat... don't bother. You are not worth their time and will let your boat sit for days while they bend over backwards for the rich folk.

This review is based mostly on their parts department as well as service. They have been incredibly helpful, honest, and great to work with. If you are cruising through or are a local I would highly recommend them. The waterfront crew is friendly and helpful too.

Portland Yacht Services Opens New Facility

Portland Yacht Services has opened a new facility for boat storage and maintenance at its new location on the western end of the waterfront in Portland, Maine. The new tension fabric building was custom designed and constructed by Legacy Building Solutions. Founded in 1981, Portland Yacht Services had previously operated out of historic brick buildings on Portland’s eastern waterfront, but gravitated toward a fabric structure when discussing a storage facility for the new boatyard. “We liked the idea of having a fabric structure that could be illuminated primarily by natural sunlight coming through the roof,” said Phineas Sprague, Jr., president of Portland Yacht Services. “We also needed a building that could accommodate a wide range of boats, from 100-foot-long yachts down to jet skis. The new fabric building has long clear spans that require no interior posts, which makes it easier to maneuver vehicles, trailers and boats inside.” Portland Yacht’s storage building features durable rigid frame, I-beam engineering. It measures 120 by 160 feet, and was designed with specific clearances to meet zoning maximums and interior required volume. To accommodate various boat sizes and entry points, the main endwall incorporates three entrance doors – a 30- by 30-foot bi-fold loading door and two 20- by 20-foot high lift overhead doors. “The I-beam design gives the building a conventional look,” said Sprague. “It fits well visually on the site, which our neighbors really appreciate. Legacy also supplied an interior liner to prevent moisture from dripping off the ceiling, something that competing manufacturers we talked to could not or would not do for us. Their responsiveness to our needs throughout the process was impressive.” The exclusive interior liner system includes active cavity ventilation to increase energy efficiency. Ventilation is further aided by an active gable intake and exhaust system. Additionally, load design of the building frame can accommodate interior circulation fans and future expansion. The structure also includes a sprinkler system and is built to conform to NFPA 303 fire protection standards for marinas and boatyards. Other features of the new fabric building include 3-foot eave extensions, ice breakers at the roof edges, exterior light and camera mounts, and a bird deterrent system. The building meets seismic “C” design codes, and the polyethylene tension fabric roof is rated for 110 mph winds and 60 PSF ground snow. Sprague, who operates Portland Yacht Services with his wife and fellow circumnavigator Joanna, added that the new yard is increasing their capabilities to boats up to 1,300 tons with a dry dock. If not, they should - this was so much fun!” Jason already knew that PYS was known for its World Class Service on any boat, any motor, in any size, and in any season, but no one was really meeting the needs of customers by selling and servicing Bass Boats. PYS services hundreds of Bass Boats in the Service Center at 100 West Commercial Street, complete with over 865 years of World Class Service Experience behind the door. Official Qualifying Guidelines, Rules and Conditions

• A win will be defined as the highest finisher of a qualifying event.
• Decals must be unobstructed and affixed to the windshield (primary location) or in a location that is clearly visible.
• Larger (Full Size) Portland Yacht Services decals on the side of the hull are eligible.
• Decals must be in place on the competitor’s boat prior to the start of the tournament.
• PYS Team Members are eligible for this program.
• Registered owner’s name and winner must be the same name on the program registration at the time of the win.
• The winning PYS “Top Finisher” registered individual is responsible for verifying their win by a photo at the qualifying event.
• The tournament staff at each event is ultimately responsible the verification of the winner and that all PYS Top Finisher rules have been applied.
• PYS reserves the right to enhance, change, alter, modify, or terminate the PYS Top Finisher program at its sole discretion at any time.
• Income and other taxes are the responsibility of the recipient.
• Winning individuals agree to allow Portland Yacht Services to use their name in all forms and media for advertising, trade, and any other lawful purposes.
• Minimum boat sign up per State is 20 boats.
• To be eligible for PYS special events, you must be signed up by 6/1/2024. Should you change boats during the year your original sign up date, applies if a new decal is affixed to the new boat. (Must meet decal requirements, see above.)

Mark, I just wanted to let you know that yesterday I drove to Portland to have my Terrova repaired.  I arrived at 10:45 for an 11:00 appointment  with a promised completion in 1-1/2 hours.  First, I met Steve Talbot who came out introduced himself and then went out to retrieve the motor.  Professional and polite, but most important competent.  These are traits I have difficulty finding in people today.  We returned in a little over 2 hours after enjoying some time on the harbor and having a great lunch at a local restaurant.  The motor was not only done but Steve had it operational and ran it through its paces before loading it on my vehicle.  Certainly, an extraordinary step but one I much appreciated.  I also had the pleasure of meeting Jason Curtis.  Again a sincere and well presented individual.  For the size of business these guys have I would not expected the attention I received.  They truly made me feel welcome and important. I have no idea if Minn Kota gives out customer service awards.  If not, they should and my vote goes to Portland Yacht Services.  They have renewed my appreciation in A Job Well Done!!! Gigayacht spotted in Portland Harbor attracts attention

PORTLAND (WGME) -- A $400 million gigayacht floating in the Portland Harbor is turning heads.

According to the Press Herald, a yacht is typically at least 30 feet long, a superyacht is 80-100 feet long, a megayacht is 200 feet, and a gigayacht is over 300 feet long.

The yacht, named Rising Sun, is owned by billionaire entertainment mogul David Geffen, according to CBS News.

CBS News reports the boat's original owner, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, sold Rising Sun to Geffen in 2010.

The Rising Sun reportedly has 82 rooms, including a gym, a basketball court, a wine cellar, a spa, and a movie theater, according to CBS News.

It can reportedly accommodate up to 16 guests and 45 crew members.

Geffen’s gigayacht is the 20th largest in the world, according to the Press Herald.

It’s certainly an eye-catcher at five stories high and 453 feet long.
