HAMPTON YACHT CLUB

The Heart of Boating on the Southern Bay

The Hampton Yacht Club is located in the heart of Downtown Hampton, Virginia and provides an array of social and dining experiences for its members. The Clubhouse includes an upstairs formal dining setting with a magnificent view of the Hampton Creek, and the downstairs has a casual bar & grill. Just outside the Clubhouse is a large marina with 200 slips for our members to dock their boats.

We also house the Thomas Brady Sailing Center. It consists of classrooms, sail storage, workspace, and the office of the Sailing Director.  The center is designed to enhance the Junior and Adult Sailing Programs and is also utilized for regatta hosting and management.

RRYC was founded in 1936 in Irvington, Virginia, to serve the interests of local pleasure boat owners. Together the first members acquired the present property on Carter’s Creek off the Rappahannock River, just down King Carter Drive from the Tide’s Inn.

Today RRYC is a vibrant and active Club enjoying a resurgence in membership and activities, both on and off the water. Many new fleets and interests of the members have brought our Club into the twenty-first century with burgee flying high.

Welcome to the Mount Vernon Yacht Club!

Nestled in the idyllic neighborhood of Yacht Haven Estates in Alexandria, Virginia, Mount Vernon Yacht Club (MVYC) is a hidden gem!  With a 119 slip Marina, a full sized 25-meter swimming pool, a serene waterfront field, aka “the Point” and a three-story clubhouse, MVYC has something for everyone, every month of the year! MVYC is a volunteer, neighborhood-based social organization.  Volunteers staff our Board of Trustees, our committees, and our social events. We only use paid staff for the pool and for yard maintenance, which helps us keep costs low.

Request membership information

Membership is in an individual’s name. Boat ownership is a requirement to apply. We do not own real estate and do not plan on changing that position. As such, our annual dues are currently a modest $300 annually. We try to make all our cruises and other events “Pay-as-you-go”. A cruise agenda and schedule is provided along with an estimated cost at time of cruise sign up.

We love to have fun times and our cocktail parties are always a big part of cruises and events. That said, we are equally serious about safety on the water and proper decorum. The Virginia Yacht Club heartily welcomes new members and stays on course by spending as little time on formalities as possible and as much time as possible on our boats. We hope you will consider joining us for a wonderful fellowship and grand times!

By completing the information below and letting us know your interest in VYC membership, the chair of the Membership Development Committee will contact you and acquaint you with the process for becoming a new member of the Virginia Yacht Club.

Thank you for your interest.

This past Saturday, August 17th, 18 sailors, members and non-members, gathered for the third FBYC Day Sailing and Training Day of 2024. The day kicked off at the Clubhouse, where sailors introduced themselves, shared their backgrounds, and discussed their goals for the day. Established 2012.

yacht club virginia

The Cape Charles Yacht Club was established in the Fall of 2012 by a few sailing and boating enthusiasts who reside in the Cape Charles area on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The founding members felt that any active harbor needed the presence of a yacht club as one of many anchors to build camaraderie among fellow mariners and those that would venture into our harbor and marina.

Our activies include:

Social Events

Smith Mountain Lake Location

Our club is centrally located on Smith Mountain Lake with direct access to the main channel for the best wind! Our location allows sailors to easily explore both the northern and southern portions of the lake with a safe harbor awaiting on the return trip!  R11 by water.

Our clubhouse features a kitchen, community room, large deck overlooking the lake and recently renovated bathrooms with full shower facilities.

Our private beach offers safe swimming and wading in shallow water protected by our cove. In addition, our beach serves as a great place to launch Lasers and other racked sailboats used for racing and instruction.

Dry Boat Storage

We have dry storage facilities for trailered and rack-stored boats.

Boat Slips and Ramps

We have five separate docks in our protected cove that collectively feature 90 boat slips for keelboats. Shore power, water and dumping stations are all available. We have two launch ramps, a rail lift for hull repairs, a shed for tools, plus electricity and water at all work locations.

Our camp sites are located near our clubhouse so people can enjoy camping with the convenience of kitchen, bath and shelter facilities nearby. We offer long term camping sites for pop-ups or tent camping.

We hold races year round. Often, our boats participate in races in conjunction with BYRA.  The highlight of our racing year is the John Bernard Invitational Regatta held in early October.  Please reach out if you would like to be on the mailing list for this event

Junior Sail Camp

Junior Sail camp is a 5-day overnight camp for young sailors ages 8-12, held the 2nd full week of June. Sailors learn to rig boats (Lasers) , tie knots, right a capsized boat and sail solo in all types of wind. Each child stays in a tent for the week but has access to our clubhouse!  We have a staff of about 10+ adults who volunteer their time and energy to make this camp a success. We are in the 30th year of this highly successful and popular program.  The secret to our success is not just the adult staff but the additional juniors who return to lead by example. Juniors aged 13-18 are often invited to return each year as role models, to continue to pass down the rules of camp etiquette and the love of sailing.  Camp is presently open to members only and space is limited.

Youth camp is for non-member youth 12-17 and will be held in late July. The camp is sponsored and run by the junior board.  Please use the contract form to let us know you are interested or register

Men's and Ladies' Sailcamp

Men's sailcamp and Ladies sailcamp are each a 2-day camp for members and non members, offering a chance to learn in a safe and friendly environment.  They are each held a different times of the summer and normally last from Friday afternoon until Saturday evening.   Each is staffed by members who want to share their love for the water and enjoy good food and new friendships.   Often times, we find the spouses in the kitchen, preparing the meals!

Women's Camp is late August.  Check our events page for registration or contact us for more information.

Family Camp

Family Camp is held around the 4th of July and lasts several days.  This offers a chance for families to come and camp and spend time in a friendly setting.  Our annual celebration always includes a fireworks show and games for all on the 4th.  Weather permitting,  there might even be a boat race of some sort.

Not all of our members have a boat but are interested in the sport and often crew in the club sponsored races.

We meet informally the fourth Wednesday of the month in the Lake Clubhouse for drinks and sea stories.  Fairfax Yacht Club is a condominium marina where you have the unique opportunity to invest in your own slip.  A condominium slip is similar to an apartment condominium in that the owner receives a deed which is recorded in the County Land Records and on which title insurance is obtainable. Ownership carries with it the exclusive right to the use of the slip (the slip is owned by the owner and not rented or leased from the marina). Further, the owner receives an undivided interest in all condominium property (referred to as the common elements) as specified in the condominium documents which, in this case, includes the piers, clubhouse, parking lots, and other facilities. The owner may sell a slip to other persons without limitation. Fairfax Yacht Club is subject to Virginia’s condominium laws.  For additional information regarding slip ownership, please click the About tab at the top of the home page.
