We’ve categorized the stiffness of our boards into 3 main groups, listed below.  The general rule is the faster you’re skating, the stiffer the deck, but this is not universal.

Flexy – Soft and supple flex profile best suited for carving and cruising on longer boards. The bouncy nature of these decks lets you turn deeper and surf your surrounds.

Medium – The do it all of our boards, a perfect balance of stability and carve. 

Stiff – From cruisers to downhill boards a stiff flex profile excels in stability and responsiveness.  Whether you’re dipping into driveways or bombing a mountain pass you’ll be down with the stiffness.

Landyachtz Dipper Fish Longboard The Dipper Fish Longboard is compact yet powerful - ditching the kicktail in favor of a flat tail, a smaller platform and narrower trucks offers you tight, responsive turns that will make everyday skating an enjoyable experience. At 36" long and 8.65" wide, this board is similar to the Ripper, but even more responsive. Its flexy ride and long wheelbase give it a surf-like feel, while the mellow concave and rocker keeps your feet secure and comfortable. Make every ride a thrilling adventure!

FLEX RATING: 7 So, what’s flex and why is it important to a skateboard? In skate-nerd terms, flex is the amount of displacement a deck sees when a specific amount of force is applied to it. Check out our formula to the left! There are a few factors that affect flex, like deck thickness, wheelbase, and the amount of force on a deck. We built a machine and put our entire lineup to the test by applying the exact same amount of force to all our boards and measured the displacement we saw in each. This gives a totally scientific and accurate flex range across our entire line! It’s important to understand flex when choosing a board. Here are some basics: Downhill/freeride skateboards will have less flex because you need a stiff platform to stand on when you’re bombing or gripping a corner at speed. Carving skateboards will have more flex, giving you the ability to sink into your turns and pump or carve with ease. Most cruisers, dance and ATV boards will have less flex for control when doing tricks but just enough to be forgiving when pushing around town. We’ve engineered our boards with the best flex for each style of riding but remember, flex is subjective so get out a see what you like the most! TRUCKS POLAR BEAR 105MM Ideal for the mini cruiser that every skater needs in their quiver. The 105mm Polar Bears are strong, agile, and ready to grip the tightest turns. Sold in pairs. The harder the bushings, the more stable the ride but that results in less agility - our Dinghy, for example, comes with 88a bushings. WHEELS 63MM FATTY HAWGS Made famous as the wheel of choice for our Dinghy completes, Fatty Hawgs are now available separately in a multitude of colours and patterns so you can upgrade your cruiser board today. This unique and super compact cruiser shape checks in at 28.2″ long by 8.64″ wide. Besides looking cool, the Dinghy Coffin XL shape is super functional as it puts the widest parts of the board under your front heel and back toe, meaning you have tons of leverage on both rails without having to move your feet much. The Dinghy Fat Coffin is pressed with 7 plies of Canadian maple for a light, stiff and poppy ride. It comes set up with Polar Bear 105mm trucks for maximum agility and a super-tight turning circle. 63mm 78a Fatty Hawgs wheels finish off the setup and ensure you’ll have a smooth ride.

The Dipper is a pintail designed to bring the compact maneuverability of a cruiser board to a carvy, flexy longboard shape. This board gives you a tight-turning, responsive ride that will make weekday commutes or casual weekend cruises the highlight of your week. The narrow width provides you with incredible control over the edges of the board so you can ride this thing aggressively if you want to or take it easy on those casual cruises. Mellow concave and a subtle rocker will have you feeling right at home on this board. Often referred to as the “best board ever” at skate sessions.

The Dipper is a compact longboard shape that measures 36” long and 8.6” wide. It has a tight platform and narrower trucks so you can carve circles around your friends. The “Fish” is created by our in-house art team, and pairs perfectly with the vibes of swimming against the tide. It has a soft, bouncy flex and a fairly long wheelbase which give it a playful, surfy ride. We set it up with soft Hawgs wheels to let you destroy any obstacle that finds itself in your path.
