DAGON, a 68.27 m Motor Yacht built in the United States of America and delivered in 1985, is the flagship of Tacoma Boat Building .

I was 39 years old when Dagon splashed, a dream come true. A lot of hard work, a beautiful woman, and a new 13lbs 4oz baby boy. What a decade.

Where it all began...

While living and working on the “Delta” at Broward Marine, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I  found Dagon stored in one of the sheds. The boat had been stored for nearly ten years. She was a handsome boat, built in 1932 by CA Morse in Thomaston, Maine. The rent for her storage had not been paid for seven years, so the boat was considered abandoned property. I approached Broward Marine about selling me the boat.  They told me that to legally sell the boat it had to be done in an openly advertised public auction. 

So, I took the plunge...

 So I went to that auction determined to make her mine. I was 26 years old, highly motivated and hard-working, a young man with a vision to own a beautiful old motor yacht- rebuilt to the highest standards.

She​ ​is​ ​an​ ​unusually​ ​handsome​ ​and​ ​a​ ​distinctive​ ​vintage​ ​motor vessel.​ ​​​She​ ​is​ ​sound​ ​and​ ​very​ ​capable​ ​and​ ​handles​ ​well​ ​in​ ​a​ ​seaway.​ ​​​She has​ ​standing​ ​headroom​ ​throughout.​ ​​​The​ ​original​ ​1932​ ​Style​ ​and​ ​finish​ ​has been​ ​maintained.​ ​​​​​With​ ​its​ ​straight​ ​stem​ ​one​ ​can​ ​walk​ ​almost​ ​right​ ​up​ ​to the​ ​bow​ ​inside​ ​the​ ​boat​ ​while​ ​standing​ ​up.​ ​The​ ​entrance​ ​to​ ​the​ ​wheelhouse is​ ​through​ ​a​ ​full​ ​height​ ​teak​ ​door​ ​entering​ ​from​ ​the​ ​cockpit.​ ​​​The​ ​fore​ ​deck and​ ​wheel​ ​house​ ​deck​ ​are​ ​canvas​ ​trimmed​ ​with​ ​teak.​ ​​​Side​ ​and​ ​aft​ ​decks are​ ​solid​ ​teak,​ ​minimum​ ​1”​ ​thickness.​ ​​​Cockpit​ ​and​ ​wheelhouse​ ​decks​ ​are teak​ ​overlay.​ ​​​There​ ​is​ ​a​ ​‘Duck’​ ​colored​ ​Canvas​ ​canopy​ ​over​ ​the​ ​cockpit.

An​ ​anchor​ ​davit​ ​with​ ​tackle​ ​and​ ​liverpool​ ​heads​ ​on​ ​the​ ​stove​ ​smoke​ ​stacks give​ ​the​ ​boat​ ​a​ ​classic​ ​yacht​ ​look.Up​ ​on​ ​the​ ​long​ ​foredeck​ ​is​ ​a​ ​traditional​ ​​​teak​ ​scuttle​ ​hatch​ ​that​ ​opens​ ​into the​ ​wind​ ​for​ ​venting​ ​air​ ​through​ ​the​ ​boat.​ ​Also​ ​on​ ​the​ ​foredeck​ ​are​ ​a​ ​teak wood​ ​skylight​ ​with​ ​beveled​ ​glass​ ​and​ ​opening​ ​windows​ ​that​ ​do​ ​not​ ​leak. Both​ ​recently​ ​built​ ​and​ ​varnished.​ ​​​The​ ​​​wheelhouse​ ​is​ ​varnished​ ​cedar​ ​with mahogany​ ​windows,​ ​window​ ​screens​ ​and​ ​trim.​ ​​​The​ ​wheelhouse​ ​interior​ ​is all​ ​varnished​ ​mahogany.​ ​​​There​ ​is​ ​a​ ​small​ ​shipmate​ ​heating​ ​stove​ ​in​ ​the wheelhouse.​ ​​​The​ ​compass​ ​is​ ​housed​ ​in​ ​a​ ​vintage​ ​binnacle​ ​with​ ​night lighting.

The​ ​front​ ​windows​ ​are​ ​new​ ​and​ ​are​ ​designed​ ​to​ ​swing​ ​out​ ​to​ ​let​ ​fresh​ ​air into​ ​the​ ​boat.​ ​​​The​ ​side​ ​and​ ​back​ ​wheelhouse​ ​windows​ ​are​ ​trunk​ ​style​ ​that drop​ ​down​ ​to​ ​allow​ ​fresh​ ​air​ ​in​ ​through​ ​window​ ​screens.Access​ ​to​ ​the​ ​main​ ​engine,​ ​generator,​ ​tanks​ ​and​ ​other​ ​machinery​ ​is through​ ​two​ ​large​ ​doors​ ​in​ ​the​ ​wheelhouse​ ​deck.There​ ​is​ ​lighting​ ​and​ ​fans in​ ​the​ ​engine​ ​room.

Below​ ​decks​ ​is​ ​a​ ​galley​ ​with​ ​a​ ​cooking​ ​Shipmate​ ​Stove,​ ​Stainless​ ​Steel sink​ ​with​ ​hot​ ​and​ ​cold​ ​running​ ​water.​ ​​​A​ ​large​ ​holding​ ​plate​ ​refrigerator​ ​and a​ ​large​ ​freezer​ ​cooled​ ​by​ ​a​ ​Rich​ ​Beers​ ​evaporator​ ​located​ ​in​ ​the​ ​engine room.​ ​​​The​ ​fridge​ ​and​ ​freezer​ ​were​ ​planned​ ​large​ ​enough​ ​to​ ​keep​ ​the​ ​yacht for​ ​six​ ​week​ ​cruises​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Bahamas.​ ​​​They​ ​have​ ​a​ ​‘period’​ ​“icebox” appearance​ ​with​ ​brass​ ​icebox​ ​latches,​ ​exterior​ ​mounted​ ​temperature gauges​ ​and​ ​varnished​ ​v-groove​ ​mahogany​ ​exterior. Sleeping​ ​is​ ​on​ ​a​ ​pull​ ​out​ ​double​ ​bed​ ​with​ ​two​ ​large​ ​drawers​ ​for​ ​personal use​ ​underneath​ ​and​ ​with​ ​varnished​ ​mahogany​ ​and​ ​polished​ ​brass​ ​pulls. There​ ​are​ ​two​ ​single​ ​berths​ ​opposite.​ ​​​There​ ​are​ ​several​ ​‘period​ ​110v personal​ ​comfort​ ​fans​ ​in​ ​the​ ​wheelhouse​ ​and​ ​below.​ ​​​The​ ​interior​ ​is v-groove​ ​ceiling​ ​planked​ ​and​ ​painted​ ​cream.​ ​​​The​ ​cabin​ ​top​ ​is​ ​painted v-groove​ ​with​ ​large​ ​varnished​ ​oak​ ​beams.​ ​​​The​ ​floor​ ​is​ ​varnished​ ​white​ ​oak with​ ​hatches​ ​to​ ​access​ ​the​ ​bilge.​ ​​​The​ ​bilge​ ​spaces​ ​have​ ​teak​ ​grates​ ​for long​ ​trip​ ​food​ ​and​ ​equipment​ ​storage​ ​without​ ​sitting​ ​directly​ ​in​ ​potential bilge​ ​water.

Moving​ ​forward​ ​is​ ​a​ ​hanging​ ​closet,​ ​a​ ​door​ ​with​ ​mirror,​ ​with​ ​storage​ ​behind and​ ​with​ ​four​ ​storage​ ​drawers​ ​below​ ​in​ ​varnished​ ​mahogany. Head​ ​is​ ​a​ ​Wilcox​ ​Crittenden​ ​Skipper​ ​classic​ ​located​ ​in​ ​the​ ​forepeak.​ ​​​Also​ ​a vintage​ ​white​ ​porcelain​ ​sink​ ​with​ ​running​ ​water​ ​from​ ​and​ ​antique​ ​faucet.

A​ ​door​ ​opens​ ​through​ ​the​ ​bulkhead​ ​for​ ​anchor​ ​chain​ ​storage​ ​and​ ​holding tank​ ​overboard​ ​pump.

A complete restoration has been done as of April 2018: ​​​The​ ​complete​ ​wood​ ​bottom​ ​of​ ​the​ ​boat​ ​was​ ​replaced with​ ​new​ ​mahogany.​ ​​​Keel,​ ​stem,​ ​all​ ​stern​ ​timbers,​ ​every​ ​floor​ ​timber​ ​and every​ ​frame​ ​was​ ​replaced.​ ​​​New​ ​canvas decks. All​ ​surfaces​ ​have​ ​been restored​ ​inside​ ​and​ ​outside​ ​of​ ​the​ ​boat.​ ​​​Mechanical,​ ​electrical,​ ​plumbing, paint​ ​and​ ​varnish​ ​have​ ​all​ ​been​ ​attended​ ​to.​ ​​The​ ​whole​ ​front​ ​of​ ​the​ ​wheelhouse​ ​was​ ​replaced.​ ​​​All​ ​new​ ​Sapele​ ​mahogany​ ​windows​ ​and​ ​frames​ ​with​ ​tempered​ ​glass, Juniper​ ​corner​ ​posts​ ​and​ ​T​ ​+​ ​G​ ​facing​ ​were​ ​installed.

The 79.90m/262'13''ft displacement superyacht DRAGON is part of the Columbus Classic series from Italian shipyard Columbus Yachts and was launched in 2019. She is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with naval architecture and exterior styling by Hydrotec and the interiors come from Francesco Guida. The accommodation sleeps up to 12 guests over eight en-suite cabins, and the crew of 19 will provide first class service to all guests and visitors on board.

The exterior styling has been described by the shipyard as reminiscent of the 1950s and 60s ocean liners with 'almost Renaissance inspiration'. Her onboard facilities are designed for modern entertaining and include an extensive foredeck and a Portuguese deck lined with two curving sofas.

The focal point of alfresco living on board will be the sundeck, where there is a spectacular 7m/22.9ft counter-current swimming pool. A waterfall feeds the pool and creates a privacy screen for the adjacent hydromassage area, which is surrounded on three sides by the mast.

DRAGON Specifications

The 2,150 GT interiors from Francesco Guida use several high-quality materials and finishes for an atmosphere of understated elegance. Amenities will include a sizeable beach club with fold-down terraces for a greater connection to the sea, side-loading tender garages and a glass lift (elevator) to connect all five decks for quick access. An entire deck is dedicated to the Owner, who also has a spacious Master suite.

A pair of MTU 16V 4000 M63L diesel engines each producing 3,000 HP allows for a top speed of 12.5 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 6,000 nautical miles.

The accommodation sleeps up to 12 guests over 8 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite and 7 double cabins. A crew of 19 to ensure that everything runs smoothly throughout every journey.

Dragon is a custom motor yacht launched in 2019 by Columbus Yachts.

Palumbo Superyachts began to take root in 2008, when the Columbus Yachts brand was established, and in 2011 launched its first 54 metre superyacht, emblematically christened “Prima” (“the First”).

Dragon measures 79.50 metres in length, with a max draft of 3.50 feet and a beam of 13.00 feet. She has a gross tonnage of 2,150 tonnes. She has a deck material of teak.

Dragon has a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure.

Her interior design is by Francesco Guida.

Presented by DMA Yachting, the impressive charter yacht DRAGON is a 121 ft motor yacht featuring a jetski and a hot tub. DRAGON spends the summer and winter season in Greece. She was completed by the famous yacht builder Guy Couach in 2010. An elegant refit was finalized in 2014. The ingenious yacht layout features 6 large cabins and easily accommodates a group of 12 guests.

DRAGON is classified as a superyacht. The generously sized aft deck elegantly connects to the well-equipped and inviting main saloon. The main saloon is a gathering space with an abundance of seating areas and boasts a number of entertainment options. 6 elegant cabins are laid out for maximum privacy and comfort.

The motor yacht features 2 X 2.735 Hp each MTU 4000 2 X 70 kw Kohler 1 X 29 kw Kohler engines .

Nick Kalimeris – Captain Greek - Speaks English, Greek Captain Nick was born and lives in Athens. He has over 20 years of experience in the marine industry from passenger ships to motor yachts. He joined the yachting industry in 2007 and has extensively cruised the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. Nick graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy of Aspropyrgos and with all the required marine licenses and certifications under his belt, has certainly made the most of his career at sea. He brings a disciplined approach to each and every task. As the captain, he takes great pride in creating tailor-made experiences for each charter. His love for travelling provides Nick with the passion to research and organise all kinds of activities for the enhancement of the experience onboard. Captain Nick has assembled an experienced and efficient team that is now working alongside him and will take every effort in ensuring your charter runs smoothly and efficiently to always guarantee the perfect trip! George Geranios - Chief Engineer Greek - Speaks English, Greek George lives in Athens. He graduated as an engineer from the Merchant Marine Academy of Aspropyrgos. George has 29 years of experience in the marine industry ranging from unlimited tonnage tankers to passenger ships and he has all required marine licenses and certifications. He first joined the yachting industry in 2009. He brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to ensure the smooth operation of the yacht and her services. He has completed all the required safety training and is available 24 hours a day to deal with engineering issues. Yannis Linas – Chef Greek - Speaks English, Greek Yannis was born in Athens in 1984 . He has 23 years of experience as a chef and is a member of the “World Chef's Association.” He is a judge at chef competitions and a culinary professor as well as having received the gold medal of honour at the Greek Taste Beyond Borders 2023. During his long career he has prepared gourmet meals for very important guests in hotels, villas and mega yachts. He is very passionate with his work and loves to cook Mediterranean, Asian , French , Italian and Mexican recipes as well as deserts and birthday cakes. He has certificates for HACCP ISO 22000 as well as having attended seminars on Mediterranean and Chinese cuisine. Eva Boyiatzi - Chief Stewardess Greek - Speaks English, Greek Eva was born in Piraeus (the main port in Greece) in 1978. She has 8 years of experience in the yachting industry. Throughout that time period, she has enjoyed travelling to various parts of the world accruing sea miles and an abundance of experience in hospitality and service. Eva has extensive experience on charter vessels from 37 to 50 meters. She is a very dedicated and efficient chief stewardess and has a professional and warm manner with all her guests. Eva has silver service skills as well as holding a G.U.E.S.T 1 Diploma which includes silver service, wine bartending, and mixology courses. In addition, Eva has a power boat license and a Chief Stewardess license. She has a creative and elegant style when it comes to table decoration and event planning for the guests. Eva enjoys challenges and takes great pride in providing excellent service to all guests onboard! Nick graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy of Aspropyrgos and with all the required marine licenses and certifications under his belt, has certainly made the most of his career at sea. He brings a disciplined approach to each and every task. As the captain, he takes great pride in creating tailor-made experiences for each charter. His love for travelling provides Nick with the passion to research and organise all kinds of activities for the enhancement of the experience onboard. <br /> Captain Nick has assembled an experienced and efficient team that is now working alongside him and will take every effort in ensuring your charter runs smoothly and efficiently to always guarantee the perfect trip!<br /> <br /> George Geranios - Chief Engineer<br /> Greek - Speaks English, Greek <br /> <br /> George lives in Athens. He graduated as an engineer from the Merchant Marine Academy of Aspropyrgos. George has 29 years of experience in the marine industry ranging from unlimited tonnage tankers to passenger ships and he has all required marine licenses and certifications. He first joined the yachting industry in 2009. He brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to ensure the smooth operation of the yacht and her services. He has completed all the required safety training and is available 24 hours a day to deal with engineering issues.<br /> <br /> Yannis Linas – Chef<br /> Greek - Speaks English, Greek<br /> <br /> Yannis was born in Athens in 1984 . He has 23 years of experience as a chef and is a member of the “World Chef's Association.” He is a judge at chef competitions and a culinary professor as well as having received the gold medal of honour at the Greek Taste Beyond Borders 2023. During his long career he has prepared gourmet meals for very important guests in hotels, villas and mega yachts. He is very passionate with his work and loves to cook Mediterranean, Asian , French , Italian and Mexican recipes as well as deserts and birthday cakes. He has certificates for HACCP ISO 22000 as well as having attended seminars on Mediterranean and Chinese cuisine.<br /> <br /> Eva Boyiatzi - Chief Stewardess <br /> Greek - Speaks English, Greek<br /> <br /> Eva was born in Piraeus (the main port in Greece) in 1978.
