Just the facts. Buyer Beware! Fritz Grell, United Yacht Broker, listed Different Drummer II, hull # HATDK318C989, a 60" Hatteras MY. Fritz advertised the yacht as "outstanding condition". Fritz was out of town and could not meet us to show us the boat and referred us to a different United Yacht Sales agent. On August 12, 2020 our offer to purchase was accepted by the seller. We spend over $4,000 to survey, haul and travel. The survey showed that the yacht was everything but "outstanding condition". There was major water intrusion in the fiberglass under the windows and in the flybridge that had visible brown balsa stains and also identified with a moisture meter. The engine oil was changed right before the survey so we could not take beneficial samples. The hydraulic steering was leaking, prop was bent, trim tabs did not work, starboard door would not open, and other safety issues like alarms, spot lights and horns were inoperative and many more smaller issues. We asked for the seller to participate in repairing these findings. Apparently the seller said that he would not repair anything for us and that he was no longer interested in selling to us. Our deposit was returned and we were out our $4,000+ and our time. We followed up on the status of the boat about two weeks later and it was under contract again. This week, May 2021, we were told by a United Yacht Sales agent that this same boat sold for $20,000 more than we had it under contract for and that the water intrusion issues did not show up on the new buyers survey. These deficiencies were material defects affecting the value of the vessel and must have been either repaired or disclosed to the new buyer, since per the United Yacht Sales broker they did not show up on the new buyers survey.

This the yacht broker to have. I have had about 30 that have shown me boats. Chris is one of two that were exceptionally knowledgeable, polite, and fast, efficient, and yes charming as well. Give him a call and have him show you a boat.
