The Global Yachting Group was originally created in 2012 through the merger of the two leading superyacht painting brands Pinmar and Rolling Stock. This expansion of the Group results in it being the only superyacht painting company with global operations. In March 2017, the Group also acquired a majority stake in ACA Marine as part of its strategic growth plans in the European superyacht finishing market.

The Company was renamed GYG plc in July 2017 when it became a public company through an Initial Public Offering on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market. In September 2022, the Company delisted from the AIM Market and Company re-registered as a private limited company with the name GYG Limited.

Global Yachting Group MBO with Lonsdale Capital Partners

Global Yachting Group (GYG), the parent company of Pinmar and Rolling Stock, has secured management buyout support from Lonsdale Capital Partners, allowing it to push ahead with expansion plans and secure its future as the leading superyacht service provider in its field.

GYG's management team is led by Executive Chairman Remy Millott, Rupert Savage (CEO), and Peter Brown (COO), who will each make a significant reinvestment in the business alongside majority stakeholder Lonsdale. Mark Conyers will also reinvest, standing down as CEO of Rolling Stock to work alongside Remy Millott in a business development capacity as Group Ambassador.

This investment in GYG comes at a time when the number of superyachts on the water continues to grow, in line with the increasing number of billionaires. In 2015, there were approximately 5,200 superyachts in operation and the fleet is expected to rise some 15% to 6,000 by 2020, according to Superyacht Intelligence; while the number of billionaires is expected to rise by over 30%, from 1,700 in 2015, to 2,500 in 2020 according to UBS. Alongside this, the superyacht finishing market is growing at an estimated 6% CAGR (source: Parthenon).

With Lonsdale's investment and wider support, GYG intends to grow organically and through acquisition, develop its new build and refit capabilities, as well as its presence in the world’s premier shipyards.

The company draws on a significant collective experience of working in large organisations and applies that to the smaller end of the private equity market.

The Global Yachting Group (“GYG”) is one of the world’s leading providers of services to superyachts. It was formed in 2014 through the merger of two well established trading brands, Pinmar and Rolling Stock and is now headquartered in Palma, Mallorca.

Lonsdale backed a buyout by the existing GYG management team led by Remy Millott in 2016.  Since the investment the business expanded substantially its presence in the building of new superyachts in northern Europe, acquired ACA Marine in order to establish a major presence in France and invested further in superyacht maintenance in the United States.

Lonsdale made a partial exit on the IPO on AIM of GYG in 2017 and exited fully in January 2021.  It was a very successful investment in Lonsdale, providing a return of 3x and an IRR of 75%.

Global Yachting Group, a leading provider of services to the world’s superyacht fleet, acquires majority stake in ACA Marine as part of its strategic growth plans in the European superyacht finishing market.

The Global Yachting Group (GYG), the parent company of Pinmar, Pinmar USA, Rolling Stock, Pinmar Supply and Techno Craft, has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in the leading French superyacht finishing company ACA Marine. ACA Marine was founded by Chris Atkinson in 1997 and has developed into one of the leading fairing, painting and finishing companies in Europe with a reputation for excellence.

Today ACA Marine dominates the refit market in France as well as having an important presence in the northern European new build market. The company has completed a number of major projects in the last two years.  The company is currently based in La Rochelle and managed by Chris Atkinson and fellow director Nick Carter both of whom will remain as executive directors and significant shareholders following the acquisition.  The company engages over 180 experienced technicians that are deployed in shipyards in France, Germany, Holland and the UK.

In the post-acquisition structure ACA Marine will operate as an independent business unit within GYG; Nick Carter, who has been running the day to day business for two years, will become Managing Director of ACA Marine.  Chris Atkinson will operate as Technical and Commercial Director for ACA Marine using his vast knowledge of the coatings business and industry contacts to drive business growth.

Remy Millott, Executive Chairman of the Global Yachting Group, said: “This is a very important acquisition for GYG as it will significantly improve our European market presence especially in the French refit market as well as bringing another highly successful and respected brand in to the Global Yachting Group. Chris and Nick have built a very successful business; they run a very tight ship and are very highly regarded in the industry.”

526.000 square meters, 150.000 covered. a perfect synthesis between craftsmanship and technology, the maximum expression of the group’s stylistic avant-garde and production efficiency..

Experience, creativity and innovation meet to give life to technologically advanced yachts with a refined but essential design with a conscious approach, giving an authentic contact with nature in comfort and style.

The headquarters and main shipyard, it covers an area of 121.000 sqm and it is specialized in the construction of fiberglass yachts of up to 23M.

The Azimut service, outfitting and delivery center located in Savona’s Marina.

The shipyard and styling lounge dedicated to the production of Azimut Yachts over 24M and of the Benetti Superyachts from 24 to 100M. Viareggio is also the Lusben historical headquarters for the refit&repair of yachts up to 30M.

Benetti’s facility for the construction of superyachts from 24 to 100M, to date it is the largest active shipyard in the world. Here, Lusben is able to operate refit&repair projects for Gigayachts up to 120M.

The shipyard is dedicated to the production of the Magellano and S Series of Azimut.

The shipyard is dedicated to the production of Azimut Yachts of up to 30M.

Over the years, the Azimut|Benetti Group has obtained the certifications in the Health sector and Safety in the workplace, first compliant with the international standard BS OHSAS 18001 and, with the migration in December 2020, to the new ISO 45001-2018 standard; this certification constitutes an absolute record in the yachting sector for multi-site Groups.

Azimut|Benetti is also in possession of the quality certification, compliant with the ISO 9001 -2015 standard for all the offices of the Business Line Yachts, R&D Varazze and, from December 2021, the Lusben area of Viareggio.
