Join Shannon and Jimmy on the stunning shores of Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire as they embark on their next chapter together as a union.

The couple met in medical school in St. Louis and planned their wedding in two separate cities while still in school. Pretty amazing. 

The pair had a beautiful rehearsal dinner at the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club. A private Thursday evening wedding followed at their family lake house in Lake Sunapee saving the Saturday lakeside reception for friends and family.

Thursday’s private ceremony was enchanting as Shannon and Jimmy exchanged their vows surrounded by beautiful flowers and the lake. They honored their Jewish heritage, by completing the Ketubah.

Saturday’s festivities included vintage lawn games, hand-picked cocktails with custom ice cubes, and an evening bonfire. The 7-course meal was to die for, the cake was as stunning as ever, and the drinks kept pouring all night.

Tucked away among the flowers and the lake, find Shannon and Jimmy admiring the view and each other, excited to start their life together as one.

From Rodeo & Co … Katie and Jeph grew up on Lake Sunapee, a pristine New Hampshire lake. They met at the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club during their early childhood years. Katie had a crush on Jeph early on and they reconnected later in life.

This backyard bash is loaded with so much charm and personality, we just can’t get enough! From shots of the Bride’s fun  floral Converse  and  haybale seating  at the ceremony, to the reception’s  cheeky signage  and rustic  milk jug centerpieces ,  Kate Preftakes Photography  was able to perfectly capture this couple’s sweet and silly sides on their beautiful Big Day. From Kate Preftakes Photography … Maria and Paul were married at Maria’s parent’s home which is adjacent to the Dexter’s Inn in Sunapee, NH. Their theme was a walk through the woods which is exactly what the guests did to go from the ceremony to the inn and reception. God was smiling on them as it was supposed to rain all day but the heavy rain held off long enough for us to get beautiful portraits, and for them to have their ceremony overlooking the mountain. Sure, we got drizzled on, but no one seemed to mind.

This wedding was a labor of love for Maria’s family and everyone worked so hard to make it special. From clearing the trees for the mountain view, to the beautiful tree lit cocktail area, every detail was special. Maria’s mom tracked down old windows, doors, and whiskey barrels to accent the path and cocktail area. Old family quilts and fabric covered hay bales were scattered around for guests to sit on. Adorable candles and signs hung from trees and the overall feeling was pretty magical.

Maria’s dress was perfect for the setting and she and Paul are perfectly paired, not to mention absolutely adorable together. There was an incredible amount of love at this wedding. And even a few surprises! Some friends surprised the couple with doves to release at the end of their ceremony and everyone surprised the couple with a flash mob dance after the toasts. There were tears, and hugs and lots and lots of love. So honored to be a part of this very special day!

From the beautiful Bride… My parents bought their house in Sunapee, NH when I was 13 years old. I made myself a promise that I would get married in their backyard overlooking the mountain. The amount of love that surrounds the home and landscape is truly an indescribable feeling. Lucky for me, my husband felt the exact same way.

From the time I got engaged on August 10th, 2014 (on top of mount Sunapee), I knew that our wedding would be a labor of love. My mother and I have a very special knack for paying attention to detail and going above and beyond expectations. Ironically, Dexter’s Inn is a short walk through the woods and was the perfect venue for our reception. The inn has beautiful grounds, covered in lush green grass, recreational activities and huge white tent to dance the night away.

I envisioned a rustic farm wedding with a whimsical elegance. I traveled to 4 different states picking up whiskey barrels. I traveled to 3 states collecting antique milk bottles from run down farms. Other décor was gathered from various antique shops and flea markets from different travels. I knew I wanted baby’s breath and lavender to create a soft feeling. We ran with those colors and accented them with natural woods and rusted metals. My parents took on their own project and built our wedding arbor from natural birch found in their woods. We focused on creating vignettes and conversation areas throughout the walk from ceremony to reception. We were seeking a humble balance between elegance and comfort. We treated our guests to a southern BBQ, complete with a bride and groom bib. We wanted our wedding to be an extension of our family and the home where our hearts are, I think we did just that.

A Challenging Course and Stunning Grounds

The golf course was built in 1920 by architect Donald Ross, known as the “Father of American Golf Course Architecture”. Not only is the Lake Sunapee course unique for the limited walking design from green to tee, Ross designed the course to please every class of golfer.

The spacious golf course was even a favorite of pro golfer, Gene Sarazen. With picture-perfect mountain views of Mt. Kearsarge and a well maintained tree line, it’s easy to see why golfers keep coming back. Even though the golf course is private, it is open to qualified groups throughout the year.

Plan a Wedding at a Beautiful and Unique Setting

The wedding experts at Lake Sunapee Country Club are passionate about making each wedding an individualized experience. The intimate planning process involves a guided tour and a sit-down where couples can discuss in detail their wedding plans.

A bridal room with a private bathroom is offered for the bride and bridal party to get ready on the big day.

There is an assortment of menu options for the couple to choose from. If you are looking for a casual buffet or served event, the menu is tailored to your wishes. Couples can choose from a planned out menu or work with the chef to design their own entrees. Meals start at $35 per guest.

The dining room features a cozy romantic setting with a wood burning fireplace and astounding mountain views. Guests can be seated up to 150 in the dining room and, in the warmer months, it can be expanded to the patio for up to 180 guests. The patio is also great for a social cocktail hour. For a more intimate reception, the Cupola room is also offered.

Spend a Relaxing Night at the Fairway Motel

If you are looking for a mini getaway from home, The Fairway Motel is situated on the country club grounds and offers 12 rooms for guests. The rooms are pet friendly, and a continental breakfast is offered at the motel.

Guests can retreat to the Sarazen Grille for a bite to eat and retire to their room for a comfortable night’s sleep or, in the summer, take a dip in the outdoor pool.

A One of a Kind Dining Experience

Luckily, Sarazen Grille is not just for members of the country club. It is evident that locals love this upscale restaurant with a casual feel. Relax by the fireplace during cocktail hour with your golf buddies or eat lunch on the garden terrace.

The ambiance is one for the books. With views of Mt. Kearsarge and the golf course, it is the cherry on top of a relaxing evening out. Customers have noted the top notch professional and gracious service of the staff and, oh yeah, the food! The home-made sauces, pastas, and grass-fed tenderloin are just some of the favorites guests have mentioned on Trip Advisor . If you can save room, make sure you check out the dessert menu, especially the apple crisp.

Overall rating

The club has gone down hill in recent years with the new management. The quality of events, attention to any detail and especially the food quality and service has gone way down. The complaints are made and management is aware, but it is not addressed or swept under the rug.

I look forward to their fireworks every year. This year, they were advertised as being at dusk. But when we got there, there were no fireworks. Very disappointed. Could not even find any updates about them not occurring.
