Boats or Yachts Available For Rent Or Charter In Genova

Where it comes to chartering or renting boats in Genova below is a list of the typical types of boats that you can hire on The Yacht Engine with a description of the boat type. If you can't find the individual boat charter you are looking for when you do a search in Genova it's worthwhile searching nearby locations as your chosen boat type might be available nearby.

When searching a geographical area on The Yacht Engine you can filter by the below boat types. There is also the option to further filter your searches by price, the number of guests, cabins or bathrooms, what year the boat or sailing yacht was launched, the boat length and the boat manufacturer.

Sailing Yacht (Sailboat): From €120/£100/$135 a day up to whatever you can afford, monohull sailing yachts are fun to sail at all points of the wind and an affordable way to get around if your island hopping or finding your own secluded coves or sandy beaches along with longer cruises. Sizes range from those for a couple or small family to a full sized luxury charter yacht.

Catamaran: Luxury catamarans are stable and spacious, with quick sailing performance, and and have been gaining in popularity in recent years. Better for larger groups, they have lots of room for water toys, and are big enough for a little privacy. A catamaran charter is easy and comfortable for novices not used to heeling and are loved by families due to their extra space when compared to a monohull. Typically far more luxurious than a sailboat the larger catamarans have en suite toilets and showers in the staterooms as well as ample entertaining space in the saloon and on deck.

Power Catamaran: These types of boats are relatively new but have also been gaining in popularity as the two hulls keep the boat more stable when compared to a monohull. The wider beam also means more deck space and as they don't have sails or a mast, they have a lot more space on deck than a sailing catamaran rental or monohull. For a luxury catamaran charter, consider taking a crewed catamaran charter sailing vacation with an experienced skipper.

Luxury Yacht: Luxury yacht charters are available for either a sailing yacht (sailboat), catamaran or motorboat and will have a crew and host/hostess on hand to cater for whatever your needs are along with a skipper who will have a detailed knowledge of your cruising area. On a crewed yacht charter of this kind you get to create your own personal itinerary and will have far greater range than on other boats which allows for lots of variety in how you travel and what you do.

Superyacht: A superyacht or sometimes called mega yacht are boats which are least 24 metres (79 feet) in length up to 180 metres (590 feet) and can either be sailing yachts (sailboats) or motorboats. These types of boats are most frequently found in the Med of Caribbean and due to their size they will have a large chartering area and can typically pick you up from whatever location you require rather than you being required to get to a set marina to start your charter. They are fully crewed with professional staff who will cater for your every need along with a skipper who will have extensive knowledge of your chosen cruising areas.

Motorboat: This covers a wide variety of boats from a motor yacht with cabins to a private boat trip for a fishing trip but all of the these are comfortable seagoing boats with a kick of speed should you want to cover a bigger distance on the day.​

RIB: Very much day boats for fishing and day cruising, RIBs are a lot of fun for a day afloat. They can be very quick and are great should you be in a town on holiday and fancy seeing the coast or finding secluded sandy beaches to get away from it all.

Skippered Yacht Charter or Bareboat

When it comes to boat hire or yacht charter in Genova you typically have two choices - bareboat yacht hire or skippered yacht charter.

When using The Yacht Engine you can filter all boat searches to be with or without skipper depending on what you are looking for and below we cover some of the main points to consider for your boat hire.

Skippered Charter: A skippered yacht charter gives you the advantage of being able to get afloat without having to invest in getting sailing qualifications before hand. For a monohull sailing yacht you will pay €120/£100/$135 plus a day extra for the skipper, as well as their food and a tip at the end.

When you get to a luxury yacht or superyacht charter with crew these prices will increase and costs also depend on where you plan to sail to along with the size and type of boat rental on your sailing holiday.

In some cases skippers will also be the yacht or boat owners (typically day trips) which means they will know all the best secluded beaches to show you the best that the area has to offer with their local knowledge.

For day trips you will often be able to use a skipper as well and prices will vary depending on the type of boat.

Bareboat Yacht Charter: For skilled sailors, a bareboat charter is cheaper and gives more privacy for you and your charter guests. Many sailors prefer to be helming the boat while choosing their own course, and provided you have the knowledge and relevant qualifications you can skipper these boats (typically up to 54 feet/16.5 metres in length) yourself.

Do You Need A Licence To Charter A Yacht In Genova

If you are on a gulet or skippered yacht charter you do not need a license to sail a yacht out of Genova. This is also the case where you are renting a small motorboat without a cabin for a day trip around the local islands or beaches.

You do need a license if you are on a bareboat yacht charter, here are some examples of sailing qualifications:

International Certificate of Competence: This is issued on request by your European sailing authority and you should automatically qualify with certain national sailing qualifications.

RYA Qualifications: If you have the following qualifications you will be able to take a bareboat charter out of Genova, these include Day Skipper (sail or motor endorsement), Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster.

American Sailing Association (ASA): The ASA 104 Bareboat certificate is commonly accepted.

US Sailing: The International Proficiency Certificate is widely accepted and The Bareboat Cruising Certificate is also accepted in many cases.

The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

Saloni nautici, da Cannes a Southampton, da Genova a Monaco: si parte dal 10 settembre

In mostra tante novità, dalle piccole barche ai mega yacht. E poi motori e componentistica di ogni genere. Parola d’ordine: innovazione e green

Le vacanze sono già un ricordo per le migliaia di donne e uomini al lavoro per organizzare, come ogni anno, i quattro saloni settembrini: Cannes , il primo della serie; Southampton , il più piccolino; Genova , il più grande; Monaco , il più esclusivo. Chi ama il mare, le barche, la pesca, ma anche solo l’artigianalità, la tecnologia, la ricerca di nuovi materiali, tutto ciò che costituisce quell’insieme magnetico che è la nautica, potrà scegliere tra le varie possibilità, le offerte diverse, le date, i prezzi. Ce ne sarà per tutti. 

A Cannes 700 barche in esposizione

Il Cannes Yachting Festival sarà ancora in pieno svolgimento e quello di Genova avrà già preso il via quando – dal 13 al 22 settembre – si terrà il salone di Southampton, il principale appuntamento nautico del Regno Unito. Con un sapore marcatamente british, questa 55esima edizione del Southampton International Boat Show, che lo scorso anno ha contato la partecipazione di circa 90 mila visitatori, vedrà esposte al Mayflower Park circa 500 barche: dai kayak ai superyacht. Saranno presenti imbarcazioni dei piccoli costruttori indipendenti e dei grandi cantieri internazionali, con yacht fin oltre i 50 metri. 

L’attesa per Genova

E veniamo a Genova, regina dalla nautica settembrina con le sue mille barche in esposizione e – quest’anno – con i lavori del nuovo waterfront disegnato da Renzo Piano quasi del tutto ultimati per rendere il contesto ancora più affascinante e fruibile. Dal 19 al 24 settembre, ecco dunque l’appuntamento più importante del settore nell’area mediterranea ed europea e uno dei più attesi a livello mondiale tenuto conto che la nautica italiana detiene e consolida di anno in anno una leadership non solo a livello di imbarcazioni ma anche in varie aree della componentistica. Del resto, l’intero settore, sommando produzione della cantieristica, della componentistica, degli accessori e dei motori marini, genera un fatturato di oltre 8 miliardi di euro con un export che nel 2023 ha raggiunto la cifra record di 4 miliardi di euro, in crescita del 15,9% rispetto al già eccellente 2022. Il layout del Salone di Genova propone il collaudato format multi-specialistico che si sviluppa su una superficie di oltre 200 mila metri quadrati tra terra e acqua, con l’85% delle aree completamente all’aperto, ospitando oltre 1.000 imbarcazioni. L’evento è contenitore di 5 Saloni, complementari tra loro e nello stesso tempo caratterizzati da una propria identità. L’offerta si articola in un Salone Tech Trade dedicato alla componentistica e agli accessori, un Salone della vela ( Sailing world ), un Salone del mondo del fuoribordo ( Boating discovery ), un Salone Yacht e Superyacht , e un Salone Living the sea , ognuno con servizi dedicati e sviluppati per garantire ad ogni segmento e clientela un servizio sempre più vicino alle specifiche esigenze. In questa edizione, inoltre, il Salone si riappropria di un luogo simbolo come Palasport. Ricco il programma di eventi e convegni. Tra i più importanti, il World Yachting Sustainability Forum e il Design Innovation Award. Il primo, giunto alla sua terza edizione, è la tavola rotonda internazionale nella quale i protagonisti del settore a livello globale fanno il punto sulle sfide che la nautica da diporto sta affrontando per adottare strategie sempre più sostenibili nella produzione. L’incontro è realizzato in partnership con International Boating Industry, la più importante piattaforma di marketing intelligence nautica mondiale. Il Design Innovation Award, quest’anno alla sua quinta edizione, valorizza l’eccellenza e l’innovazione della nautica da diporto, promuovendo l’immagine degli espositori presenti del Salone. Le ultime novità in esposizione vengono selezionate e premiate da una giuria internazionale presieduta per il secondo anno da Maria Porro, presidente del Salone del Mobile Milano. 

L’esclusività di Montecarlo

A chiudere come sempre il mese dei saloni sarà – dal 25 al 28 – il Monaco Boat Show , giunto quest’anno alla trentatreesima edizione. Posizionato nell’incantevole Port Hercule del Principato di Monaco , l’appuntamento monegasco è un concentrato del fiabesco mondo dei superyacht. Qui sono all’ancora, per essere ammirate, e naturalmente vendute, barche da sogno. E non solo, perché intorno ad armatori di questo calibro ruota un ampio mondo del lusso. Se si tiene conto che in un contesto del genere le barche di 30 metri vengono guardate quasi con sufficienza, è facile capire quanti capitali si muovano nei tre giorni di esposizione. E non stupisce che qui non sia il numero di visitatori a contare, ma la consistenza dei loro portafogli. Anche perché i biglietti di ingresso, dunque anche solo per curiosare, costano ben 690 euro per un giorno (Iva inclusa…), 1.170 per due giorni e 1.860 euro per tutti e tre i giorni. Neanche a dirlo, tutto quello che viene prima dell’ingresso e all’interno del Salone è all’altezza di questi prezzi. L’esclusività, tanto più da queste parti, costa cara.

The Genoa Boat Show is an international boat trade fair that takes place once a year (in September) since the 60s, organized by I Saloni Nautici , a company that is part of Confindustria Nautica.

Every year it hosts thousands of visitors and exhibitors and you can admire the most beautiful boats in the world with state-of-the-art accessories.

This event is also recognized by the IFBSO , the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers.

Besides the boat show, the exhibition also hosts business-to-business events supported by the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) , a communication campaign of the Show with foreign countries, which boasts the presence of more than 50 journalists from all over the world, who have been contributing for years to promote “Made in Italy” products abroad.

How to get to the Genoa Boat Show 2024?

There are many ways to get to the Genoa Boat Market .

The whole city is equipped every year with different types of transport and you can reach the exhibition in any way: car, train, bus, and even rickshaws .

The AMT provides special lines to connect the Show with the rest of the city.

Lines 31 and 10 connect the nearest station (Bignole) to the Fairgrounds, which are 1.4 kilometers from the Show.

While the Genoa yacht show provides the Shopping Bus , a transport service available every half hour and intended for the guests but also the operators of the exhibition.

You can reach the Genoa International Boat Show also thanks to a special train that connects the city center with the fairgrounds and, if you already have a ticket for the Fiera, you pay half price.

But that’s not all! There will also be shuttle buses, and shuttles that can be used free of charge by all those who have a ticket for the exhibition.

History of the Genoa International Boat Show

The Fiera Nautica Genova was born in the sixties . Initially, it was a small event that covered a much smaller area.

Over the years, success has multiplied to the point that it has grown from thirty thousand square feet to two hundred thousand .

In the beginning, the exhibition was held in Milan and was called Salone Internazionale della Nautica and was a branch of the “ Fiera Campionaria “.

In 1962, the second year, it was moved to Genoa and changed its name to Salone Nautico.

The history of the Nautico di Genova is fascinating and full of vitality that becomes the main element with which the stages of its evolution are climbed and that has made it become the reference point of the European , if not world nautical.

The date of birth, to be precise, was 27 January 1962 . In an area of 30,000 square meters, there were almost 600 exhibitors, both foreign and Italian . The ticket to enter the exhibition cost 250 lire . It was a niche event where personalities such as Olivetti, and Giovanni Agnelli but also architects, admirals, ship owners, and English lords were present.

In 1964 the Fiera di Genova became part of the FBSO and ministers also began to take an interest in the exhibition.

At that time the financial situation was not the best.

Here began the first debates on the various techniques of sailing , “motorboating”, and soon technical conferences and reviews on everything that revolved around boating, became fixed appointments with the presence of hundreds of journalists.

Gradually, the exhibition became a prestigious event that no shipyard could miss.

It was one of the most important showcases that allowed showing their boats to visitors from all over the world .

In 1985 8 million people arrived and the tourist associations proposed funding to fix the marinas where the exhibition took place.

Today, the Genoa Boat Show can be defined as a unique event worldwide . There are no exhibitions of the same magnitude, which every year have the same number of visitors and exhibitors.

All these reasons, which have brought the Genoa Boat Show to its current level, make us say, without fear of contradiction, that the Genoa International Boat Show is unique in the world.

During the pandemic period which especially affected the year 2020 and 2021 also Fiera del Mare Genova had to adapt to the national regulations to prevent the spread of Covid contagions.

Despite the uncertain and worrying air, this event has managed to confirm itself as an unmissable event for all boat enthusiasts .

There were many visitors, and the event proved to be a symbol of an Italy that wants to react to a critical historical and social moment without precedent.

History of Pavilion B of the Genoa Boat Show area

Pavilion B is nicknamed by all as the “ Blue Pavilion ” from the color of its roof which was supposed to be inspired by the color of the sea or the Jean Nouvel Pavilion , from the name of its creator who designed it to replace the previous one which dated back to 1962 and was now too old for the exhibition.

It was inaugurated in 2009 together with the Palasport building.

The original 1962 structure had two sections.

One had two galleries and was exposed to the seaside; while the second, newer part was huge (more than 10 thousand square meters).

When work began, the 1960s pavilion was torn down but in 2008 there was a serious collapse of the entire metal structure which was 50 meters long and 20 meters high.

Fortunately, there were no injuries but work was temporarily suspended.

The very expensive design called for a rectangular blue mirror roof . But a “painted sheet metal” one was put on and never replaced.

This pavilion was used for the funerals of the victims of the Morandi Bridge collapse and also as an area for vaccinations during the pandemic .

The structure opened in 2008 has 35 thousand square meters divided into three floors .

The central floor, facing the sea, is occupied by offices, while the other two levels are dedicated to the display of boats.

Inside there are two huge exhibition halls that have a ceiling of completely blue mirrors, reminiscent of the color of the sea .

Levante Waterfront Project: the new Boat Show starting in 2024

In 2017, the architect Renzo Piano gave the city of Genoa a project to renew the area of the Nautical Exhibition : it is the Waterfront di Levante plan .

A new “dock” will be created that will be connected to an urban park by bike paths.

The road from Corso Italia to Porta Siberia will be continued, there will be new residential areas, the former Nira will be demolished and the new Pilot Tower will be built.

This project will give the structure a new , more modern, and practical style .

The project was commissioned by Genoa City Council and will transform Pavilion B into an area surrounded by water channels.

Residences will be created between the two buildings and the Palasport will be completely modernized.

Pavilion B will be connected to the ground via three bridges, only one of which will be fixed. The other two will be removable.

The movable structural parts will be functional to ensure boats can cross the canal.

There will also be bicycle and pedestrian paths connecting the marine area to the green areas in the vicinity. At the same time, they are reclaiming the whole area from hydrocarbons.

Three interesting facts about Genoa International Boat Show

• The longest boat ever to be displayed at the International Boat Show is the 5-meter Megasailer Maltese Falcon .
• Until 2021 other historic Pavilions were demolished to make room for more modern structures. I’m talking about Pavilion C and D . The old Marina was also a boat show area that was used all year round as a small harbor. Finally, we remember Pavilion S. This is the “Palasport” of Genoa built in the ‘60s on three floors that hosted sporting events. Pavilion C, Pavilion D. Until 2021 there was also Pavilion D, but it was demolished. Marina. This is the exhibition area that has operated throughout the rest of the year as a small harbor since 1988. It too was demolished last year and replaced by the Waterfront Marina, which measures fifteen thousand square meters and includes both sports and accommodation areas.
• Two Presidents of the Republic have visited the Genoa International Boat Exhibition: Cossiga in the 1980s informally and Mattarella in 2018 officially.

Eleganza, design e performance. Sanlorenzo a Cannes e Genova per presentare i suoi gioielli

Sanlorenzo presenta due nuovi yacht innovativi al Cannes Yachting Festival e al Salone Nautico di Genova: SL86A, con design asimmetrico e spazi abitativi ottimizzati, e SP92, yacht performante e sostenibile con interni luminosi e connessione al mare.

Da oltre 60 anni Sanlorenzo costruisce yacht su misura esplorando l’innovazione attraverso l’esperienza per creare esemplari unici. Esempio ne siano, le sue novità, al debutto in anteprima mondiale al Cannes Yachting Festival ed esposte anche al Salone Nautico di Genova a settembre.

Creato in collaborazione con lo Studio Zuccon, SL86A testimonia un’evoluzione dell’applicazione del concetto di asimmetria, sfruttandone le potenzialità per ottenere soluzioni abitative inedite e ottimizzate (le sue dimensioni sono minori rispetto ai modelli precedenti) nel rispetto dell’eleganza e dello stile Sanlorenzo. E il risultato è ancora più distintivo quanto a valorizzazione degli spazi.

All’interno, l’ingombro dei collegamenti verticali ridotto al minimo consente di dedicare l’intero Main Deck alla convivialità, con una zona giorno open space composta da un ampio salone a poppa e una zona dining a prua customizzabile. Le ridotte barriere visive poi, esaltano la vetrata asimmetrica che, estendendosi da poppa verso prua, crea una connessione con il mare.

Connessione che si vive appieno a poppa, grazie all’introduzione di un elemento di trasparenza e a un design minimal e innovativo che permette alla barca di navigare senza scala a vista. Gli spazi esterni, invece, sono più ampi e fruibili, con due zone prendisole, una a prua e una integrata nella tuga.

Con SP92, invece, Sanlorenzo conferma la volontà di consolidare la ricerca nel segmento delle barche performanti e sportive nata con SP110.

Frutto della collaborazione con lo Studio Zuccon per il design esterno e con l’architetto Piero Lissoni per l’interior design, SP92 si avvale delle migliori tecnologie presenti su SP110 e del design tipico della gamma, ispirato al minimalismo e alla purezza delle linee.

Gli interni, distribuiti su quattro livelli, vantano soluzioni che ne valorizzano ampiezza e vivibilità rafforzando la connessione con il paesaggio marino, come le ampie vetrate che mettono in comunicazione l’interno con l’area di poppa, dove si trova una beach area personalizzabile di 45mq circa. In sintonia con il concetto alla base della linea Smart Performance, SP92 unisce gli atout di uno yacht altamente performante con l’impegno di Sanlorenzo per la sostenibilità.

Dalle geometrie della carena, che ottimizzano il coefficiente di resistenza alle velocità più utilizzate, alla progettazione degli elementi strutturali, all’impianto fotovoltaico con cella monocristallina ad altissima efficienza, fino agli arredi, realizzati con materiali compositi e tecnologie aeronautiche, tutto è stato pensato per minimizzare i consumi e l’impatto ambientale.
