‘Below Deck’ Charter Guests Break Silence On Low Tip Controversy

Below Deck Charter Guests Break Silence On Low Tip Controversy [Credit: YouTube]

The charter guests of Below Deck Sailing Yacht are speaking out about that low tip. In the Monday, March 14, episode, the notorious charter guests only tipped $6,500, which is the lowest in the show’s history. The charter guests are already making history for all the wrong reasons. Fans called them the worst charter guests in Below Deck history.

Erica Rose returned with her mom, Cindi Rae Rose, and her husband, Charles Sanders. Chief stew Daisy Kelliher was not excited about her returning, and the two have been in a war of words ever since. In fact, the charter guests haven’t stopped talking about their time on the yacht.

Erica Rose explains the reason for the low tip

Erica made an appearance on the Another Below Deck podcast . She explained that her fellow guests refused to contribute to their tip. The group knew they were responsible for the tip. While they were aware of the rules, they didn’t want to tip the hard-working crew members.

“The whole group is responsible for tipping. We had to pick up the slack for everyone else because no one else tipped.”

As Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans know, the crew busted their behinds to make the charter guests happy. In a previous episode, Erica’s husband Charles received backlash for calling the food “disgusting” and that he had better at a “ballpark.” He claims that producers told him to call out Chef Marco Spaziani’s food.

The couple said that all of the guests had to contribute to the tip. If that were the case, that would’ve brought the tip to $25,000. She claims they had a serious conversation about the tip before leaving the boat. Yet, her former friends have a different story as well as the proof.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 crew got the worst tip in history

Both Erica and Charles got called out for their lies. Per Monsters & Critics , fellow charter guests Rhett and Janelle Flatt said they have proof of a conversation she had with Erica. Janelle took to her Instagram account to share screenshots of their text message exchange. She claims that Erica lied about the tip.

In the text message exchange, Janelle asked Erica how much they should tip the crew. Erica responded, “Our price includes tip! We can bring cash and tip extra if we want. I over tipped last time. I think prices is ($) 5000/ per person including tip!! Not per couple. [SIC].”

Erica also seemingly wrote, “So it’s like ($) 3,000 per person, the $900 required tip and then ($)1,100 airfare is how it comes out to $5,000.”

Rhett became the hero of the show when he called out Charles for slamming the food. In another scene at their beach lunch, Charles called Janelle a “b***,” Rhett approached him and threatened to punch him out. Many Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans praised him for it. Janelle had more to say on Instagram and said they were never friends of Erica and Charles.

Janelle is a hairstylist and Erica was one of her clients. Erica invited her to the yacht trip, and of course, she wanted to go. But the moment they left the yacht, she fired Erica. The two are no longer speaking.

What are your thoughts on the tip? Do you agree that it’s the worst in the show’s history? Sound off below in the comment section. Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET, on Bravo.

Haha, sure. You understand that no one believes your made up story.

Not just the worst guests, Charles, Erica, and Cindi are horrible humans. However, producers do pull people aside and give directions for story line. Charles may be telling the truth about that one thing, especially since he praised the dinner at first. Best dinner he ever had, apparently. I wish producers would stop. It doesn’t have to be drama all the time!!!

The most classless was LaQuisah from episode 13 season 10. She requested gold steak. She was a pain in the a– 7 a HUGE glutton. You can tell that she eats at Popeyes, and Red Lobster, and would take all the shrimp even if she didn’t eat it.

'Below Deck' Finale: Glenn's drug search goes awry, fans say Billy hid his stash and should have been tested

Bravo's 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' returned this week with its finale episode and it was explosive to say the least. It began with a drug investigation and ended with heartbreaks and goodbyes.

Previously, Captain Glenn Shephard was informed by his crew members — Jenna MacGillivray and Chris Miller — that they had spotted white powder under Billy's (one of the charter guests) nose. Based on their observations, Glenn had a chat with the guests and expressed an interest in searching their belongings, to which Billy readily agreed while he said: "I have got nothing to hide bro." Glenn rummaged through his luggage as Madison Stalker watched. It was already a stressful situation, which got out of hand when Glenn didn't find drugs on Billy. It put off Billy and his friends on vacation. Minutes later, Billy walked up to Glenn and confronted him for conducting the search. He made it a point to let Glenn know that he was offended.

Sure, it's humiliating to be accused of something one hasn't done but Glenn's hands are pretty tied here because that's the protocol — any suspicion would lead to a search. And being caught in possession of drugs on the boat have serious legal implications. The yacht could be confiscated and Glenn could lose his license. So, there was a lot at stake and it would only be foolish of Glenn if he ignored Jenna and Chris' accounts.

Meanwhile, fans think Glenn didn't find drugs on Billy because he had already snorted all of it or hid it somewhere it couldn't be found. "I think he already snorted them so Glenn would only find out if he did a drug test," a fan commented. Another shared: "We know damn well that they hid those drugs elsewhere. They wouldn’t stash them in luggage since interior goes in. They were put somewhere in that room though. That guest was snorting something at dinner the night prior. He lyin!! #BelowDeckSailing."

One more said, "For someone who’s claiming not to have drugs on board, Billy is acting a lot like someone who may have drugs on board #BelowDeckSailing #BelowDeckSailingYacht," a viewer expressed. "The captain may not have found any drugs, but that doesn’t mean the dude wasn’t using. His behavior speaks for itself.#BelowDeckSailing." Another user tweeted, "Billy claiming he's so offended and has no drugs on board... BECAUSE HE SNORTED THEM ALL #belowdecksailing."

Here’s What the Cast of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Is Currently Up to Now

Are Jenna and Adam still together?

below deck sailing yacht season 1

From a spontaneous proposal failing spectacularly to a joke about being breastfed as an adult, Sailing Yacht was as much a dramatic success as the other franchises. It also left fans wondering about what's happening to the crew since the show wrapped. Did chief stew Jenna and chef Adam stay together? What's going on with Georgia's music? And most important—is Captain Glenn really as cool as we think he is?

Here's what the cast of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht is up to now:

Jenna MacGillivray

When the Canadian stepped onto the Parsifal III, fans got exactly what they hoped for in a chief stew—a no-nonsense leader who also had a romantic spot in her heart for the chef in the galley. Though her relationship with Adam Glick proved to be tumultuous, the two dated for some time after the season wrapped, even taking some time to road-trip together.

These days, Jenna is enjoying some time off from yachting, but given her recent IG pics, she's excited to come back to another charter season.

Madison Stalker

Wherever Madison went, drama always seemed to follow the second stew during season one of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht . In between epic meltdowns (including a major one between her and Jenna over her lack of enthusiasm for her job), she left the boat a better person and leaving fans ready to see more from their new favorite cast member.

Judging by her Instagram account, she's taken a break from yachting (perhaps until next season of the show).

Georgia Grobler

As good of a third stew Georgia was on deck, fans were more invested in her budding music career and growing feelings for a very taken Paget. She proved she was great at her job and could make a career out of yachting.

While it's unclear whether she stayed in the yachting industry post- Sailing Yacht , Georgia's working on music, premiering new music videos on IGTV during the quarantine.

Below Deck Med fans were so excited when Adam joined the crew as the chef for Sailing Yacht . While he abided by the preference sheets this time around, he also began a rocky romance with chief stew Jenna, making most of the crew members wonder if he was there for his job or the girl.

Since the show wrapped, Adam's busy onshore, cooking, and traveling with his adorable puppy. Oh, and Adam has a web series, Stoked , where he travels across the country to meet with local chefs and learn about their regions... all while over a campfire.

Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan

If there was any couple to root for from the entire Below Deck franchise, it's Paget and Ciara. The duo made a great team on deck, and mostly kept their relationship to a minimum on cameras—a first for Bravo! As they were the most familiar with the Parsifal III, the couple was the most reliable, and fans loved seeing their relationship continue blossoming post-filming.

These days, the couple has a lot to be excited about—they're now engaged. While they're soaking up their romantic bliss, they're also still working in yachting, although it's sadly on separate boats.

Byron Hissey

As the chief engineer of Parsifal III, Byron was clearly there to just do his job. But, given how he was the only cast member to have a wife and child back home, he also became the dad of the group, taking care of the other crew members.

Since filming wrapped, it looks like Byron is back on a boat doing exactly what he does best—fixing and making sure the engines run smoothly.

Parker McCown

Relatively new to the yachting industry, fans are more likely to remember the deckhand for his enraged rant about being breastfed by his mother. While he didn't necessarily have all the skills to make it as a deckhand, he definitely had a soft spot for his ex-girlfriend Kaiti, whom he eventually left Parsifal III to go back to at home.

It looks like the decision to leave the show worked out for Parker, as he's now engaged to Kaiti and writing some tunes while onshore.

Chris Miller

As Parker's replacement for the latter half of the season, Chris proved a great deckhand and an asset to the team, all while battling an injury.

These days, Chris seems to be taking some time off from yachting to travel across Europe.

Captain Glenn Sheppard

Captain Glenn was tough, fair, and not afraid to have a good time, which both crew and guests very much appreciated.

Thankfully, his reality TV experience hasn't turned him off yachting forever. Glenn is still the captain for Parsifal III and traveling through the Mediterranean.

On Below Deck Med, Sandy and Aesha school—and warn—their guests

A person standing behind a bar talks to a group of people

comment icon 3 comments

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9’s crew has been such a continuous disaster, from disappearing laundry to disappearing dock workers, that I’ve almost forgotten that the yacht has guests who can bring their own drama.

So it was quite a departure to spend most of the episode on this new group of guests, who were such terrors that Captain Sandy told a story that let them know she’d throw them off the boat if they continued to be meanies.

Here’s the thing, though: In terms of Below Deck guests, they were—not that bad? They kept asking for cocktails, and did some rich playacting things like demanding caviar.

All of this made for great TV, of course, though the lingering question is why these guests, and why now.

A person poking themselves in the forehead with two fingers on one hand

As a new day dawned, Iain described to us the “one or two little hiccups” from previous charters, giving the editors a chance for a montage of his colossal fuckups. “I’m just hoping we can have a smooth one,” he said.

They mostly did, thanks to Gael. At the end of the charter, Iain told the deckhands how they’d handle the lines while docking, and Gael said, “Iain, that’s not right.” Of course it’s not; it’s Iain. How does he remain bosun? But they made it in.

Gael and Iain went to pick up the guests on shore, and she was worried about driving the tender because she doesn’t have much experience. “Did you see that?” she said to the cameras with the excitement that a kid has for successfully depositing a poo. “I just did that!”

I do love Gael’s excitement, and her competence, and the way she’s being sassy toward Iain, telling him that they didn’t want him to work hard when they got the platforms ready without him. She really should be bosun or at least lead deckhand; experience on paper does not translate to effectiveness on deck.

Once the guests pulled up in a van, Iain said, and this is an actual quotation, “Is this guests?” I don’t know, Ian. Is it a van? Is this Greece? I don’t see guests, or a van, or Greece.

Below deck, Ellie and Bri seem to be functioning, though Ellie is still seething. “Things are not going to change because this entire time, it has been Bri fucking up,” Ellie said, forgetting that she screwed up Jono’s pants.

In real time, Ellie has expressed remorse for the way she treated Bri, which is impressive. On board, she’s improving too. “Do you have an empty washer, by any chance?” she nicely asked Bri. IF NOT THEN EMPTY ONE FOR I AM SECOND STEW YOU GIVE ME THE MACHINE I WANT!

Ellie did have an actual problem: She couldn’t find her dress, so she called Bri. “I’m pretty sure it happened before Aesha implemented this new rule so it doesn’t really count,” Bri said, and found the dress “in my bag,” unwashed. It’s absurd how bad Bri still is at this job.

My favorite metaphor from this episode came from Ellie. “We’ve been treating Bri like a baby deer,” Ellie told us, “and if I bring this dress up and get Bri fired because of it, it’d be like I shot Bambi. Doesn’t work in my favor whatsoever.” Smart strategy. Also, I’m pretty sure Bambi would be better at laundry.

Jono had food ready when the guests arrived, though it appeared to be like cheese boards, appropriate for sitting out. Just a few charters ago, our Jono was making eggs several weeks early and wrapping them in towels and putting them on the deck to keep them warm.

The guests’ demands began almost immediately. “The couches: it’d be great if they were gone,” the primary said. Does she want the deck crew to throw them overboard? It turned out she just wanted to take a photo, so Aesha and Bri moved a couch.

“Thank god, this is a shorter charter,” Aesha said, which I think is chief stew code for fuck my life.

The guests weren’t egregiously entitled assholes, like we’ve seen before, just demanding. “Can you get my martini?” the primary, Mahisha, asked Aesha. Her martini was sitting on a table immediately behind her. “Want to bring it to me?”

Mahisha also requested, on her preference sheet, “a culinary masterpiece from start to finish and rival any Michelin star restaurant.” Maybe go to a Michelin star restaurant? You’re on a yacht with one person cooking in a glorified closet.

There was a montage of guests asking for many, many drinks, with Joe and Nathan helping to deliver them, and Ellie getting spicy about demands (“The gentleman ordered before them, I’m sorry,” she said). What’s sketchy about this is the time that elapsed between all these asks. Were they asking for cocktails every five minutes? Or every 30? And on a yacht, asking for drinks and water while you’re hanging out on the deck and by the water is not unreasonable.

Mahisha, who was mentioning caviar and mother-of-pearl spoons as the tender approached the yacht, finally got her caviar, and declared, “it tastes a little like a washcloth.”

Jono said, “I didn’t shit out those eggs; some fish did.” I wish he’d told her that. What exactly did she expect him to do? Mahisha did host an OWN reality TV show, Mind Your Business with Mahisha , so maybe she’s just trying to produce some drama?

A group of people sitting at a table; one is talking to a server

The best scene in the episode did not involve Mahisha, but her guest, Neysla, who started complaining about a butter knife when there was no bread and butter.

“This is a butter knife,” she told Aesha, who, bless her, replied, “It’s not. It’s a fish knife.”

“Oh, she’s going to school me,” Neysla said, and that she was right about. Aesha told her—during dinner service!—”Yeah, I’ve worked in service a very long time, and that’s a fish knife. It’s ‘cuz fish is not supposed to be tough it’s supposed to be smooth, so it just cuts through.”

“Well, your caviar service sucked,” Neysla said, though that appeared to have been cut in from later, as she wasn’t talking to Aesha directly. This infuriated her: “I’m okay being wrong. It’s just…” she said, suggesting Aesha made a face, and then said, “I need to calm the fuck down.” Yes, it’s a knife.

In an interview, Aesha said, “I’ve got to stand up for myself at some point.” I am glad she did! But did we miss something, because again, insisting a knife is a different knife is not even in the same arena as some of the worst Below Deck guest treatment of crew.

After dinner, before bed, Mahisha declared she was hungry and wanted fish. Aesha said the chef was in bed, and that he’d prepared sandwiches. “I don’t eat sandwiches,” Mahisha said, which is hilarious and ridiculous.

She instead ordered some berries, and as Aesha prepared those, Mahisha decided to go to bed and fell down the stairs. The boat is fighting back.

The next morning, Jono laid out a huge breakfast spread, which sat for a few minutes while the guests took photos. When she arrived, Mahisha surveyed this and said, “I do want some berries.” LOL. Here are the ones from last night, kept fresh in the trash!

After breakfast, the guests went to the Temple of Aphaia, where I expected them to tell random Greek people that what they were seeing were not ancient ruins.

Of course, they actually just wanted another photo shoot. There was a pleasant moment of levity when the guests realized Ellie and Joe were flirting, and took pictures of Ellie kissing Joe. “The guests are picking up on the chemistry between us kind of validates what I’ve been sensing this entire time,” Ellie said.

In this episode’s sad puppy content, Gael told Nathan, “Please don’t turn out to be a dick,” and he said, “I won’t hurt you.”

And then Sandy’s girlfriend Leah texted her, “I need to talk to you about Bailey,” their dog, who died. Uh, content warning, please?! Sandy told us that her parents also died while she was sailing, so the dog’s death “brings up all your losses.”

Charter guest Mike, a former NBA player, told Captain Sandy, “Your staff that you have here, they’re really, really good—they’re top-notch.”

That was very nice! And then Sandy used that moment, for some reason, to deliver her TED Talk. “If you beat character down, you’re going to kill their spirit,” she began. “But if you’re gracious and you’re thankful, you’re going to build ’em up and they’re going to want to do more for you. I had a client that spent a million Euros on a charter; they were so rude to my crew, I pulled the primary in and I said, I’ll cancel your charter tomorrow…”

Mahisha said “oh!” and then downed her drink.

A person holding a drink and wearing sunglasses puts her hand to her chest in horror

“…if you treat my staff like that again,” Sandy continued. “They turned it around like that.” This is an amazing story, and also great that Sandy is sticking up for her crew. But where has this energy been for, I don’t know, every other charter ever?!

To have a bunch of rich white people on yachts acting like drunken, entitled, sometimes violent assholes for years and years, and then to finally draw a line when there’s a group of Black charter guests who—ask for a lot of drinks, want furniture rearranged, and don’t understand silverware? Not a good look.

“I’m, like, over this conversation,” Neysla said and left. In an interview, Sandy asked us, “Did I get my point across?” Apparently!

Meanwhile, Jono was preparing an “Asian fusion feast,” and described spending “a week in Ho Chi Minh City at a master chef’s farm” and cooking multiple times per day. Wait, this is Jono talking about learning about food , not his lack of food knowledge?! “The guests want some fancy shit and nothing says rich motherfucker like some duck for lunch,” he added. Oh there you are—welcome back, Jono. “We fancy out hererrr.” Okay, got it, Jono, that’s enough.

The guests loved it, and soon it was time for them to depart. On the dock, Mahisha praised Jono’s food, and then said, “to my love birds, I can’t wait to see what happens later … you know who you are.”

She added, “to all the other supporting crew, you were just phenonemal, so thank you. I don’ think we had any issues, did we?” Aesha said, “Were we on the same charter? … This is so confusing.” The guests tipped $20,000, so no issues there.

“I know this was a shit charter guest-wise,” Aesha told her stews. ” I want us to finish like this,” and they all held hands.

With all this happiness, what’s going to go wrong? Oh, Joe, of course. Exactly one charter after singing a song about hooking up with both Bri and Ellie , Joe said in the crew mess, “for fuck’s sake, what did I do? I don’t even want either of them,” Joe said. Bri came around the corner, they all got quiet, and Bri said, “that hurts me.” Then she cut their pants up and threw them in the ocean.

A few seconds later, Joe told Bri: “Honestly, I do care. I do.” Then Ellie asked him on a date, and he said yes. This guy. I’d call him a fuckboy but that’d be giving him too much credit.

Joe climbed behind Nathan on a jet ski—I could not make up a better image if I tried—and babbled a lot about liking Ellie but not wanting to date: “I’ve already said yes, but I don’t want to go on it.”

Two men on a jet ski that's on a ship's deck

As if the jet ski humping wasn’t enough bromance, Joe and Nathan sat for a joint interview when Nathan said, “Joe’s afraid to go on the date” and Joe said, “because I’m genuinely petrified of her.”

There may be some truth to that. Gael, who we know is the smartest one among them, said, “I feel like Ellie is the kind of girl, scorned, is going to burn the whole boat down.”

That may happen, as the cliffhanger was Ellie saying to Joe, “Sir, are you excited? … I am, like, ready to go.”

Joe sat on her bed and said, “Let’s talk. Um… I don’t want any strings attached. to be honest, I feel a lot of pressure, and I don’t want a date.” RIP motor yacht Mustique.

Those 2 female guests were pretty bad. Legends in their own minds.

But the men were awesome! I can’t wait to see Ellie’s reaction to him cancelling the date!

Okay, this:

“The guests’ demands began almost immediately. “The couches: it’d be great if they were gone,” the primary said. Does she want the deck crew to throw them overboard?”

made me laugh myself stupid! (which, admittedly, didn’t take much laughing… )

Who is Below Deck Sailing Yacht charter guest Erica Rose and what is her connection to The Bachelor?

The Bachelor alum Erica Rose appears on Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

If Below Deck Sailing Yacht charter guest Erica Rose looks familiar, that’s because she has a connection to The Bachelor.

Yes, Erica is no stranger to reality television. However, she has been off-screen for a while, focusing on growing her family and building her career.

Erica Rose was on The Bachelor

Erica was a contestant on Season 9 of The Bachelor, featuring Prince Lorenzo Borghese. The season was filmed in Rome, Italy. She made it to the top 10 but was eliminated in week three of the ABC reality TV show.

Bachelor Nation fans will remember that Erica also appeared on Bachelor in Paradise during Season 2 and Season 3.

After three stints in the Bachelor Nation universe, Erica went on to be part of the VH1 show You’re Cut Off! Erica also appeared alongside her mom Cindy Rose, on Married to Medicine Houston.

These days Erica is a happily married lawyer. Erica married her husband Charles Sanders in 2017 once she got her entertainment law degree. Charles is a lawyer, too, and the couple are partners in Rose Sanders Law Firm PLLC in Texas.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Erica Rose ? Sanders (@ericatherose)

Erica has two daughters. Holland Gentry from a previous relationship and Aspen Sanders with her husband, Charles. The proud mama often features her little girls on social media.

What can fans expect from Erica’s Below Deck Sailing Yacht stint?

The Bachelor alum makes her Below Deck Sailing Yacht debut this week along with several of her girlfriends. No, Erica didn’t bring her husband or daughters on the Bravo show.

Although Erica has only promoted her stint on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, fans know drama is brewing. Jess Bryant Cimato, co-primary with Erica, overhears first-mate Gary King and chief engineer Colin Macrae talking s**t about the charter guests.

After giving Colin and Gary an earful, Jess lets Daisy Kelliher know she doesn’t appreciate crew members bad-mouthing the ladies. The guests literally just got on board before the drama begins.

Erica recently shared a photo of herself with the rest of the guests and chef Natasha, so the trip didn’t go too bad. Well, at least for Natasha, it didn’t go too bad.

There is one question fans are left asking about Erica Rose and her group of friends on Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

Will they be more demanding than Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and his family?

Only time will tell.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.

‘Below Deck Med’s Chef Johnathan Shillingford Thinks Aesha Scott Handled Those Rude Charter Guests “Very Well”

‘Below Deck’s 8 Worst Guests Of All-Time: From Jill Zarin To Delores The Midnight Swimmer

‘below deck mediterranean’ exclusive clip: aesha scott stands up for herself against a rude charter guest, ‘below deck med’ star elena dubaich admits she was the “villain” in bri muller’s story: “sometimes we are a**h*les to other people”.

Chefs across the Below Deck franchise have a reputation for being fantastic at their craft, but nightmares in the galley. How many times have we seen a stew being yelled at or a meltdown over a protein being burned? Luckily, Chef Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford from this season of Below Deck Mediterranean is here to break the cycle. After spending seven years in architecture school, Shillingford discovered that the culinary arts were his true passion and taught himself to become a chef. He credits his architectural studies for his calm demeanor when dealing with picky charter guests or a challenging menu. “My training there really preprogramed me to be very strong mentally,” explains Shillingford.

After disastrous feedback from frequent Below Deck Med character guest Gigi Fernandez, Shillingford knew he needed to “keep it moving.” “For me, there was no other option. My parents taught me resilience,” said Shillingford. “There was no other way forward but to pick myself up and refocus.” While Shillingford can handle a little criticism from guests, receiving criticism from an audience was a different story. “I was super down when I saw that episode and the reaction from some people on social media,” said Shillingford. Luckily, a few guests came to his defense in his Instagram comments, which brightened his spirits. “It was really nice that [they] shared their positive experiences.”

While Shillingford is not a recent source of drama on the show—not since the late-night snack kerfuffle from the season’s first charter—he was happy to share his opinion of the rude charter guests who shocked Bravo fans by disrespecting Chief Stew Aesha Scott and the crew. “That was definitely not the worst group of socialites with snarky comments I’ve had on board,” said Shillingford. “In yachting, you can get anything from guests, including saying really rude things to the crew.” However, Shillingford noted that some members of the group have apologized for their actions, which he thinks is “great.” “They took responsibility” and that’s enough for him!

Shillingford spoke to DECIDER over Zoom to discuss this season so far, his thoughts on Captain Sandy, and what he thinks of the Bri-Ellie-Joe love triangle.

DECIDER: How does it feel to be the chillest, most laid-back chef in Below Deck franchise history?

JOHNATHAN SHILLINGFORD: Not only in Below Deck franchise history, but in yachting history [laughs]! On every other boat I’ve worked on, people would say, “wow, he’s not like breaking dishes. He’s not throwing pans. This is weird.” I love it. I’m a calm, collected, professional person in my workspace, and I’m a bubbly, candid, sassy person outside of it. It’s a great honor to have that crown in my crown collection.

Do you think you are able to be so calm because you are a self-taught chef? Meaning you got to establish your own structure and style outside of an intense culinary curriculum.

That’s definitely a part of it, but I think what really influenced me was my architectural training. I spent seven years in architecture school. It’s almost like getting a medical degree, right? You have to love it to get through it. My training there really preprogramed me to be very strong mentally. You have to learn to prepare and present your ideas and be guest-facing in a way. That really helped me a lot. Being self-taught, I had the time and the space to go at my own pace, which I loved.

I was worried for you at the beginning of the season with those two different charters back-to-back. How did you pick yourself up after receiving that negative feedback?

For me, there was no other option. My parents taught me resilience. It’s in my family. It’s in my blood. it’s what we do. Keeping it moving is the only thing I know how to do. I want my guests to be happy every single time. If they’re not satisfied, it means I’ve failed, and failure is not an option. There was no other way forward, but to pick myself up and refocus and readjust and just do better.

I saw that several of those guests on those two charters dropped into the comments to show you some love. Did it feel good to get that validation?

It was awesome. I’m happy you brought up that. I think three of the guests chimed in and told me they loved the food. When you have a cornucopia of preferences, it’s harder to make everyone happy. It was great that some of the guests reached out because it was a really tough couple of episodes to watch. I was super down when I saw that episode and the reaction from some people on social media. It’s really challenging to get that much hate and criticism. So, it was nice that some guests pulled through for me and shared their positive experiences.

Though she praised your growth throughout the season, Captain Sandy did throw a little shade at your food during her most recent appearance on WWHL. Where you two stand now?

I’m fine. I don’t know. We haven’t chatted much since the show. For me, it was an honor to work with her. Being from a family of women who were trailblazers in their careers, I was born a feminist. She was the first female captain I’ve ever worked with. That was special for me. Not only that, but she’s also queer, so that’s even more special to me. The shade she threw… I take it lightly. Also, did she really mean to be shady or did she just not have any other thing to say about how I could improve? Whatever the answer is, there are no hard feelings on my end.

I have to ask you about those difficult charter guests. Is it common to have guests on board who think they know more than the yachties?

For sure. That was definitely not the worst group of socialites with snarky comments I’ve had on board. In yachting, you can get anything, including guests saying really rude things to the crew. However, some of the group has apologized online. They took responsibility and want to move forward. I think that’s great.

What do you think of the way that Aesha handled the situation with the fish knife that the charter guest insisted was a butter knife?

She handled it well. She wasn’t rude or anything. She just responded with “that’s not a butter knife, it’s a fish knife and here’s why.” Aesha knows her table settings. She’s studied to know better than the charter guest who is trying to call her out. She handled it pretty well.

Have you ever had a guest tell you that Beluga caviar tastes “like a washcloth” before?

Never. If they did, they didn’t call me up to tell me that [laughs]. That was hilarious.I was sweating because, as a chef, I somehow felt responsible. However, I wasn’t the one shitting out those eggs so it wasn’t my fault. I can only make a note of the complaint going forward. If I were to cook for them in the future, I wouldn’t get that particular brand again. I thought it was funny.

I want to get into tonight’s episode a bit. Where do you stand on the whole Bri-Ellie-Joe love triangle?

Yeah, it’s tough because each of them has become my friend. It’s not like I can really be like, “oh, that bitch,” you know what I mean [laughs]? Like, I would love to give you shade, but, I can’t. I’ve hung out with all of them separately after the show. I will say that I hate seeing two women fight over a man. Maybe they could have found a compromise and both slept with him at the same time or something. Would that have been so crazy?

I mean, anything goes on a yacht!

That’s what I’m saying [laughs]!

We got to see more of your bond with Bri Muller this episode. Is that why you chose to protect her when more of her laundry trouble came up?

I definitely had a soft spot for Bri. I’ve always kind of been a “therapist” type of friend. I’m a great listener. You could see from the beginning that Bri had challenges and was a bit insecure about her skills. She needed someone to help her get through the season.. We’re still friends. We call each other all the time

What’s the biggest lesson you took from your time on Below Deck Med ?

If you’re down, get back up. That’s always been my mantra, and this season reminded me why that is.

Would you do anything different if you could?

I would have had more fun along the way. There were times that I regret not being more silly or showing more of my personality. I was just trying to be serious at work and not have another repeat of the Gigi charter. I wasn’t as bubbly or as silly as I know that I am.

How did this experience help you evolve as a chef?

I had to really teach myself better time management this season. What you don’t see on the show is that I’m also cooking for the crews as well as the guests. I had to balance a lot of different people having different meal times and different preferences. By prepping certain dishes in advance, I ensured myself more time to focus on the finer details for plated meals.

So what can you tease about the rest of this season?

Just that I’ll be pissed off if everybody doesn’t watch it because it’s just so good [laughs]!

Gael and Nathan Open Up About Taking Their Relationship Off the Yacht: “In Too Deep”

Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher share new details about their budding romance on the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show.

below deck sailing yacht season 1 episode 7 guests

Following Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher 's first official date on Below Deck Mediterranean  Season 9, Episode 12, the Mustique yachties are now sharing new details about taking their budding boatmance to the next level.

in the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show  video above, Nathan explained that although he wanted to do something fun with Gael away from their fellow yachties, he immediately had some regrets about asking her to go rock climbing.

"I am sh-t scared of heights," he said in the clip. Still, he noted, "It was nice to get off the boat and interact away from the boat in a different setting."

Gael, who had recently broken up with her boyfriend , appreciated Nathan's suggestion to do a fun activity together.

"He knew I was in a tough place, and so he said to me, 'I think you just need to get off the boat,'" she shared.

Once they were on the date, however, Gael began to think about the deeper meaning behind their outing.

"It was scary because it was just like, 'Oh sh-t, I'm in too deep now, but this is a real thing,'" she explained. "'Is it bad that I'm kind of happy about it? Is it moving too fast?'"

"Yes, I wanted to go," Gael continued. "But, internally, I was still just out of a relationship and I'm like, 'Wow this is moving really fast.'"

Given how her relationship with Nathan developed, Gael also admitted, "This will be really sh-t for my ex to watch ...There's no coming back from this."

Looking back now, Gael "wasn't surprised" that the date went well.

"Me and Nathan get along and we have a lot of fun together," she said in the video above. "It couldn't have gone bad."

  • Chef Dave White opened his own restaurant post-season 7 and cooked for Captain Sandy's wedding.
  • Natasha Webb has moved on from reality TV, focusing on mixology and acting in Los Angeles.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 was one for the books, and it’s time to check in on the crew from the show. The Mediterranean-based reality show debuted as the first spin-off in the Below Deck franchise in 2016, with the late Captain Mark Howard . After a successful first season, Captain Sandy Yawn joined the crew of season 2 and has remained on the series since. Below Deck Med is often regarded as the best show in the franchise, and that’s thanks to its dynamic crews over the years.

For a long time, Hannah Ferrier was the face of the spin-off as the show’s longtime Chief Stew. She became a fan-favorite crew member, beloved by the viewers for her endearing and entertaining personality. However, things when Hannah was fired by Captain Sandy for having a vape pen and unprescribed Vallium onboard. The show struggled in her absence but has slowly regained footing over the years. Below Deck Med season 7 wasn’t the best showing; however, it did have the best drama, most of the crew has moved on from their time in the spotlight.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Captain Sandy Yawn

Captain sandy got married.

Captain Sandy is still a pivotal character on Below Deck Med . After the seventh installment, she returned for seasons 8 and 9 , with the latter receiving the show’s best reception from fans in years. Captain Sandy notably shifted her leadership tactics during the latest season, becoming more empathetic and understanding with her crew. During the charter season, she planned to propose to her now-wife Leah Shafer , and their engagement and subsequent wedding were filmed for the show. As a newlywed, Captain Sandy will likely return for season 10 to continue leading the show to success.

Chef Dave White

Chef dave is still a chef.

Chef Dave White is remembered for his hectic boatmance with Chief Stew Natasha Webb. They kept their relationship private, though he threatened to expose their romance on multiple occasions. After the show, they went their separate ways, and Chef Dave opened his own restaurant and released a cookbook this year called Slated .

While he hasn’t returned to Below Deck Med since the seventh season, Captain Sandy enlisted him to cook the food for her wedding and bake her wedding cake for her special day. “ Such an honor cooking the food and making the cake for [Captain Sandy] and [Leah’s] wedding!” Dave captioned a video from their wedding on Instagram.

Natasha Webb

Natasha got engaged.

Natasha was a beloved Chief Stew among the season 7 crew, though she’s most remembered for her infamous boatmance with Chef Dave. Because of the backlash surrounding their run on the show, she opted not to attend the Below Deck Med reunion and hasn’t returned to the show since. Natasha has moved on from her reality TV days and is engaged to musician Max Landry. Nowadays, they live in Los Angeles together, where she’s focused on working as a mixologist and dabbling in acting.

Raygan Tyler

Raygan works in the beauty world.

Raygan Tyler had a short run on Below Deck Med season 7. She joined the crew as Bosun, notably making her one of the few women from the franchise to land the role. However, Raygan was swiftly fired for her lack of experience, which almost led to a crash. On Instagram, the former Bosun was asked if she still worked in yachting, to which she replied, “ yes and no im go[ing to] study this winter .” However, Raygan now works in the beauty and cosmetology field with her business, Raygan Aesthetics.

Natalya Scudder

Natalya returned for season 8 & creates adult content.

After season 7, Natalya Scudder immediately returned for the show’s eighth season. She found herself immersed in the conflict due to her feuds with Tumi Mhlongo and Kyle Viljoen. Natalya served as the temporary Chief Stew while Tumi faced issues with her visa. They started on the wrong foot and couldn't resolve their conflict during the charter season. Kyle ignited drama between them by gossiping about Natalya and Tumi to one another, which started a feud between the friends. They’ve since moved past their drama, and Natalya is focused on creating adult content.

Kyle Viljoen

Kyle returned for season 8 & hosts a radio show.

Like Natalya, Kyle returned for Below Deck Med season 8 following his run in season 7. He stirred the pot between Natalya and Tumi throughout the charter season. Kyle was the source of much chaos during his time on the show, though he wasn’t fired and didn’t return for the show’s ninth season. He made amends with Natalya, though his friendship with Tumi was sadly broken after they watched the series back. Nowadays, he’s a host for East Village Radio and regularly posts content on Instagram.

Elena “Ellie” Dubaich

Ellie returned for season 9 & creates content for onlyfans.

After subbing in for Kyle for a mere two episodes, Elena “Ellie” Dubaich joined the original crew of Below Deck Med season 9. Before she returned to the show, she announced she had retired from yachting in May 2023 to prioritize her OnlyFans account . Nonetheless, she threw her hat back into the yachting ring to return for season 9, where she had a mixed showing. Ellie joined the crew as Aesha Scott’s second stew but quickly got into conflict with Third Stew Bri Muller over their mutual liking of deckhand Joe Bradley.

Mzi “Zee” Dempers

Zee is working towards becoming a bosun.

Before season 7, Mzi “Zee” Dempers was a beloved deckhand on Below Deck Med season 6. He learned a lot from Bosun Malie White and used that knowledge the following season. Despite being beloved by fans and crew, he wasn’t asked back for season 8, though he’s been working his way up to become a Bosun one day. Zee revealed in 2023 that he completed his Yacht Masters and was focused on working his way up. On the Below Bravo podcast, he revealed he’d jump at the opportunity to return to Below Deck for a future season.

“I would absolutely enjoy to do another season… If I was asked to come back I certainly would.”

Storm Smith

Storm still works in yachting.

Storm Smith grew a lot during his time on Below Deck Med . He was given the role of lead deckhand before being promoted to Bosun after Raygan was fired. Though he had chemistry with Natalya during season 7, they didn’t pursue a relationship after the show. Storm has been busy working in the yachting industry and traveling all around the world. He gives frequent updates on his life at sea on Instagram, sharing some of his highlights from his many travels.

Jason Gaskell

Jason has a private life.

Jason Gaskell had an unfortunately short time in season 7. He clashed with Storm, who replaced Raygan as Bosun and struggled to get along with the deck team. Jason left the yacht after not finding his place within the crew and has since rid himself of his reality TV days. His Instagram account is on private, making it unclear if he’s still working in the yachting industry.

Courtney Veale

Courtney is a content creator.

Courtney Veale was brought in after the first few episodes of season 7 to offer the deck team additional support amid Raygan’s firing. She was from the season 6 crew, where she worked her way up to second stew but returned to the show as a deckhand. Courtney impressed Captain Sandy and was promoted to lead deckhand after a stellar showing. Nowadays, the deckhand has taken up content creation and seems to have left the yachting industry.

Reid Jenkins

Reid has a private life.

Reid Jenkins was a late arrival for the season 7 crew. He stepped in to assist the deck team for the final few charters of the season. Since his time on Below Deck Med , he hasn’t returned to reality TV in any capacity. Reid’s life is kept virtually private, and it’s unclear if he still works in the yachting industry.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 was filled with drama from start to finish, but the crew has moved on from their experience on the show. Cast members like Natalya and Kyle returned for season 8, while others like Raygan and Jason have been leading private lives. None of the season 7 yachties are currently on TV, though that could change in the future.

Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 is available to stream on Peacock.
