‘Below Deck’ Sailing Yacht Shares Chilling Link To Sunken Morgan Stanley Billionaire’s Boat ‘Bayesian’

The plot thickens...

‘Below Deck’ Sailing Yacht Shares Chilling Link To Sunken Morgan Stanley Billionaire’s Boat ‘Bayesian’

Much has been made of the tragic events that unfolded earlier this week off the Sicilian coast, with the Morgan Stanley international chairman initially missing before being found dead alongside tech founder Mike Lynch. Adding more intrigue to the tale, a strange link between the sunk Bayesian yacht and hit show Below Deck has been uncovered…

The Italian shipyard Perini Navi, which built the PARSIFAL III — the yacht featured in the popular reality show Below Deck that rammed a pier due to an engine malfunction — is also the maker of the Bayesian , which tragically sank on August 19.

PARSIFAL III Misadventure

Below Deck is an American reality TV series that made its debut in 2013 on Bravo TV . The show, to date, is running on season 11, with a new cast of crews on every luxury superyacht during its chartering season. Their challenges while catering to wealthy guests are depicted on the show. The PARSIFAL III , a 177-foot yacht, suffered a big mishap during an episode of the show’s second Sailing Yacht season which first aired on May 17, 2021.

While trying to maneuver in bad weather, the yacht hit a dock because its engine broke down. In an explanation, Yacht’s Captain Glenn Shephard said:

“I was using a different maneuver mode. And there’s a computer in between the throttles and the propeller that adjusts the load on the engine. Maybe my inputs were too much for the computer and it kind of, I don’t know, froze or didn’t react in the right way. I’m not really 100 percent sure. But I was pushing ahead and it was still moving backwards, which is not normal.”

Some of the wreckage was visible floating in the sea after the accident. Luckily, no serious damage was caused in this crash. Launched in 2005, PARSIFAL III can accommodate up to 12 charter guests in a master suite, two double cabins, and two twin cabins. The yacht also has a Jacuzzi and two Open Bic sailboats for guests to play with.

Not So Lucky

The Bayesian , also created by Perini Navi, was not as lucky. Sailing in a sudden and strong squall that created too much wind and conditions for the yacht to handle, the vessel sank after its mast broke in half off the coast of Sicily near the fishing village of Porticello   in the early hours of Monday.

Of the 22 people on board at the time of the tragedy, 15 were rescued, while six others lost their lives, among them being the chairman of Morgan Stanley International, Jonathan Bloomer, and tech tycoon Mike Lynch.

His daughter Hannah Lynch, 18, is still missing, and rescuers are frantically searching for her. Lynch was a British technology entrepreneur who achieved fame through his software company, Autonomy Corporation, which Hewlett-Packard bought for over $11 billion USD in 2011.

Captain Jason Chambers confirms Below Deck Down Under Season 3 coming ‘soon’ and teases alum returns

Captain Jason Chambers on Below Deck Down Under Season 3

Finally, we have an update on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, thanks to Captain Jason Chambers, and it’s good news for fans.

It’s been nearly a year since Season 2 of Below Deck Down Under ended.

However, fans wondered if the show was canceled when Aesha returned to Below Deck Med for Season 9 in the chief stew role.

While the show’s future remained up in the air, Captain Jason urged Below Deck Down Under fans to express their frustration to Bravo.

Whether or not his message to fans helped, Captain Jason finally has something positive to share or tease.

The other day, Captain Jason took to Instagram to promote Gold Dust spa in Bali. While his caption didn’t mention anything about Below Deck Down Under, he had some things to say about the show in the comments section.

“When will we see you back in Below Deck???!” asked one fan, with Captain Jason responding, “@bev_davis3 soon ❤.”

Another fan wanted to know if Captain Jason was ever returning to yachting. The captain’s response gave more insight into the show.

“@dylananddarby You can’t do both unfortunately. As a captain you need to be 100% committed and I’m using this gap in life to be with my daughter and see where the dices land. ❤️,” he explained.

“Below deck down under crew in LA, does this mean our season is getting closer to the screens? Mmm I wonder?” Captain Jason wrote.

Captain Jason reveals Season 2 crew member is back on Below Deck Down Under

Oh yes, the captain just dropped a bomb that Tzarina is back for Season 3 of the Below Deck spin-off, and we are here for them to work together on-screen again.

The question remains when will Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under premiere? As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 is slated to premiere this fall.

Below Deck Down Under Season 3 should follow the sailing show, which would mean an early 2025 premiere.

Then again, if Bravo doubles up on Below Deck Sailing Yacht episodes like it did last season, Below Deck Down Under could premiere sooner.

Check back with Monsters and Critics for more updates on Below Deck Down Under.

Below Deck Down Under is currently on hiatus on Bravo. Seasons 1-2 are streaming on Peacock.

On Below Deck Med, Sandy and Aesha school—and warn—their guests

A person standing behind a bar talks to a group of people

comment icon 3 comments

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9’s crew has been such a continuous disaster, from disappearing laundry to disappearing dock workers, that I’ve almost forgotten that the yacht has guests who can bring their own drama.

So it was quite a departure to spend most of the episode on this new group of guests, who were such terrors that Captain Sandy told a story that let them know she’d throw them off the boat if they continued to be meanies.

Here’s the thing, though: In terms of Below Deck guests, they were—not that bad? They kept asking for cocktails, and did some rich playacting things like demanding caviar.

All of this made for great TV, of course, though the lingering question is why these guests, and why now.

A person poking themselves in the forehead with two fingers on one hand

As a new day dawned, Iain described to us the “one or two little hiccups” from previous charters, giving the editors a chance for a montage of his colossal fuckups. “I’m just hoping we can have a smooth one,” he said.

They mostly did, thanks to Gael. At the end of the charter, Iain told the deckhands how they’d handle the lines while docking, and Gael said, “Iain, that’s not right.” Of course it’s not; it’s Iain. How does he remain bosun? But they made it in.

Gael and Iain went to pick up the guests on shore, and she was worried about driving the tender because she doesn’t have much experience. “Did you see that?” she said to the cameras with the excitement that a kid has for successfully depositing a poo. “I just did that!”

I do love Gael’s excitement, and her competence, and the way she’s being sassy toward Iain, telling him that they didn’t want him to work hard when they got the platforms ready without him. She really should be bosun or at least lead deckhand; experience on paper does not translate to effectiveness on deck.

Once the guests pulled up in a van, Iain said, and this is an actual quotation, “Is this guests?” I don’t know, Ian. Is it a van? Is this Greece? I don’t see guests, or a van, or Greece.

Below deck, Ellie and Bri seem to be functioning, though Ellie is still seething. “Things are not going to change because this entire time, it has been Bri fucking up,” Ellie said, forgetting that she screwed up Jono’s pants.

In real time, Ellie has expressed remorse for the way she treated Bri, which is impressive. On board, she’s improving too. “Do you have an empty washer, by any chance?” she nicely asked Bri. IF NOT THEN EMPTY ONE FOR I AM SECOND STEW YOU GIVE ME THE MACHINE I WANT!

Ellie did have an actual problem: She couldn’t find her dress, so she called Bri. “I’m pretty sure it happened before Aesha implemented this new rule so it doesn’t really count,” Bri said, and found the dress “in my bag,” unwashed. It’s absurd how bad Bri still is at this job.

My favorite metaphor from this episode came from Ellie. “We’ve been treating Bri like a baby deer,” Ellie told us, “and if I bring this dress up and get Bri fired because of it, it’d be like I shot Bambi. Doesn’t work in my favor whatsoever.” Smart strategy. Also, I’m pretty sure Bambi would be better at laundry.

Jono had food ready when the guests arrived, though it appeared to be like cheese boards, appropriate for sitting out. Just a few charters ago, our Jono was making eggs several weeks early and wrapping them in towels and putting them on the deck to keep them warm.

The guests’ demands began almost immediately. “The couches: it’d be great if they were gone,” the primary said. Does she want the deck crew to throw them overboard? It turned out she just wanted to take a photo, so Aesha and Bri moved a couch.

“Thank god, this is a shorter charter,” Aesha said, which I think is chief stew code for fuck my life.

The guests weren’t egregiously entitled assholes, like we’ve seen before, just demanding. “Can you get my martini?” the primary, Mahisha, asked Aesha. Her martini was sitting on a table immediately behind her. “Want to bring it to me?”

Mahisha also requested, on her preference sheet, “a culinary masterpiece from start to finish and rival any Michelin star restaurant.” Maybe go to a Michelin star restaurant? You’re on a yacht with one person cooking in a glorified closet.

There was a montage of guests asking for many, many drinks, with Joe and Nathan helping to deliver them, and Ellie getting spicy about demands (“The gentleman ordered before them, I’m sorry,” she said). What’s sketchy about this is the time that elapsed between all these asks. Were they asking for cocktails every five minutes? Or every 30? And on a yacht, asking for drinks and water while you’re hanging out on the deck and by the water is not unreasonable.

Mahisha, who was mentioning caviar and mother-of-pearl spoons as the tender approached the yacht, finally got her caviar, and declared, “it tastes a little like a washcloth.”

Jono said, “I didn’t shit out those eggs; some fish did.” I wish he’d told her that. What exactly did she expect him to do? Mahisha did host an OWN reality TV show, Mind Your Business with Mahisha , so maybe she’s just trying to produce some drama?

A group of people sitting at a table; one is talking to a server

The best scene in the episode did not involve Mahisha, but her guest, Neysla, who started complaining about a butter knife when there was no bread and butter.

“This is a butter knife,” she told Aesha, who, bless her, replied, “It’s not. It’s a fish knife.”

“Oh, she’s going to school me,” Neysla said, and that she was right about. Aesha told her—during dinner service!—”Yeah, I’ve worked in service a very long time, and that’s a fish knife. It’s ‘cuz fish is not supposed to be tough it’s supposed to be smooth, so it just cuts through.”

“Well, your caviar service sucked,” Neysla said, though that appeared to have been cut in from later, as she wasn’t talking to Aesha directly. This infuriated her: “I’m okay being wrong. It’s just…” she said, suggesting Aesha made a face, and then said, “I need to calm the fuck down.” Yes, it’s a knife.

In an interview, Aesha said, “I’ve got to stand up for myself at some point.” I am glad she did! But did we miss something, because again, insisting a knife is a different knife is not even in the same arena as some of the worst Below Deck guest treatment of crew.

After dinner, before bed, Mahisha declared she was hungry and wanted fish. Aesha said the chef was in bed, and that he’d prepared sandwiches. “I don’t eat sandwiches,” Mahisha said, which is hilarious and ridiculous.

She instead ordered some berries, and as Aesha prepared those, Mahisha decided to go to bed and fell down the stairs. The boat is fighting back.

The next morning, Jono laid out a huge breakfast spread, which sat for a few minutes while the guests took photos. When she arrived, Mahisha surveyed this and said, “I do want some berries.” LOL. Here are the ones from last night, kept fresh in the trash!

After breakfast, the guests went to the Temple of Aphaia, where I expected them to tell random Greek people that what they were seeing were not ancient ruins.

Of course, they actually just wanted another photo shoot. There was a pleasant moment of levity when the guests realized Ellie and Joe were flirting, and took pictures of Ellie kissing Joe. “The guests are picking up on the chemistry between us kind of validates what I’ve been sensing this entire time,” Ellie said.

In this episode’s sad puppy content, Gael told Nathan, “Please don’t turn out to be a dick,” and he said, “I won’t hurt you.”

And then Sandy’s girlfriend Leah texted her, “I need to talk to you about Bailey,” their dog, who died. Uh, content warning, please?! Sandy told us that her parents also died while she was sailing, so the dog’s death “brings up all your losses.”

Charter guest Mike, a former NBA player, told Captain Sandy, “Your staff that you have here, they’re really, really good—they’re top-notch.”

That was very nice! And then Sandy used that moment, for some reason, to deliver her TED Talk. “If you beat character down, you’re going to kill their spirit,” she began. “But if you’re gracious and you’re thankful, you’re going to build ’em up and they’re going to want to do more for you. I had a client that spent a million Euros on a charter; they were so rude to my crew, I pulled the primary in and I said, I’ll cancel your charter tomorrow…”

Mahisha said “oh!” and then downed her drink.

A person holding a drink and wearing sunglasses puts her hand to her chest in horror

“…if you treat my staff like that again,” Sandy continued. “They turned it around like that.” This is an amazing story, and also great that Sandy is sticking up for her crew. But where has this energy been for, I don’t know, every other charter ever?!

To have a bunch of rich white people on yachts acting like drunken, entitled, sometimes violent assholes for years and years, and then to finally draw a line when there’s a group of Black charter guests who—ask for a lot of drinks, want furniture rearranged, and don’t understand silverware? Not a good look.

“I’m, like, over this conversation,” Neysla said and left. In an interview, Sandy asked us, “Did I get my point across?” Apparently!

Meanwhile, Jono was preparing an “Asian fusion feast,” and described spending “a week in Ho Chi Minh City at a master chef’s farm” and cooking multiple times per day. Wait, this is Jono talking about learning about food , not his lack of food knowledge?! “The guests want some fancy shit and nothing says rich motherfucker like some duck for lunch,” he added. Oh there you are—welcome back, Jono. “We fancy out hererrr.” Okay, got it, Jono, that’s enough.

The guests loved it, and soon it was time for them to depart. On the dock, Mahisha praised Jono’s food, and then said, “to my love birds, I can’t wait to see what happens later … you know who you are.”

She added, “to all the other supporting crew, you were just phenonemal, so thank you. I don’ think we had any issues, did we?” Aesha said, “Were we on the same charter? … This is so confusing.” The guests tipped $20,000, so no issues there.

“I know this was a shit charter guest-wise,” Aesha told her stews. ” I want us to finish like this,” and they all held hands.

With all this happiness, what’s going to go wrong? Oh, Joe, of course. Exactly one charter after singing a song about hooking up with both Bri and Ellie , Joe said in the crew mess, “for fuck’s sake, what did I do? I don’t even want either of them,” Joe said. Bri came around the corner, they all got quiet, and Bri said, “that hurts me.” Then she cut their pants up and threw them in the ocean.

A few seconds later, Joe told Bri: “Honestly, I do care. I do.” Then Ellie asked him on a date, and he said yes. This guy. I’d call him a fuckboy but that’d be giving him too much credit.

Joe climbed behind Nathan on a jet ski—I could not make up a better image if I tried—and babbled a lot about liking Ellie but not wanting to date: “I’ve already said yes, but I don’t want to go on it.”

Two men on a jet ski that's on a ship's deck

As if the jet ski humping wasn’t enough bromance, Joe and Nathan sat for a joint interview when Nathan said, “Joe’s afraid to go on the date” and Joe said, “because I’m genuinely petrified of her.”

There may be some truth to that. Gael, who we know is the smartest one among them, said, “I feel like Ellie is the kind of girl, scorned, is going to burn the whole boat down.”

That may happen, as the cliffhanger was Ellie saying to Joe, “Sir, are you excited? … I am, like, ready to go.”

Joe sat on her bed and said, “Let’s talk. Um… I don’t want any strings attached. to be honest, I feel a lot of pressure, and I don’t want a date.” RIP motor yacht Mustique.

Those 2 female guests were pretty bad. Legends in their own minds.

But the men were awesome! I can’t wait to see Ellie’s reaction to him cancelling the date!

Okay, this:

“The guests’ demands began almost immediately. “The couches: it’d be great if they were gone,” the primary said. Does she want the deck crew to throw them overboard?”

made me laugh myself stupid! (which, admittedly, didn’t take much laughing… )

Captain Glenn and the crew of the Parsifal III are back for another season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht . This time the yacht is setting sail in lovely Sardinia, Italy, and even though it's a beautiful location, don't expect calm seas. This season, anything can happen.

As the original Below Deck franchise wraps up its tenth season, Below Deck Sailing Yacht cruises into season 4 with the promise of picturesque landscapes and thrilling adventures, but the trailer hints at some trouble on board, and not just with the crew. Although, it looks like the Parsifal III has some challenges this season that puts Captain Glenn and the crew through their paces.

Here's everything we know about Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 7: "Smoke on the Water" "Another engine issue emerges, forcing Capt. Glenn to modify the plan and keep the returning guests entertained. With all the uncertainty going on in the engine room, Capt. Glenn takes control and points out the crews’ mistakes. Daisy and Colin make up after their fight as their relationship grows stronger. Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 8: "Cheers to Boobies" "After Chase confides in Gary about Alex’s lackluster work ethic, Chase’s trust is broken when Gary tells Alex about their conversation. The crew pull off talent show #2 for the returning guests and surprise themselves with their interesting skills. Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 9: "Love Boat" "Glenn dresses up for the guests' theme night; he hopes his participation helps correct a jewelry theft hiccup and is on top of his crew to make sure the women have the best trip of their lives."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 10: "Loose Lips Sink Friendships" "The crew has the day off, and even Capt. Glenn recharges by enjoying Parsifal III all to himself and riding the eFoil; Colin saves the day clearing the clogged toilets, but he gets jammed up when his honest opinion strikes a chord."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 11: "Let Them Eat Cake" "Capt. Glenn notices the standards are slipping on Parsifal lll as the crew is exhausted with the mid-season blues. Distraught that Colin and Gary aren’t speaking, Daisy takes initiative and forces them to hash out their problems. Gary’s confusing behavior has Mads confessing her feelings to Alex. Colin tries to forgive Daisy’s discretions, but she adds insult to injury after she drunkenly confuses him for Gary. On charter, after anchoring in their first destination, Parsifal lll nearly drags into a neighboring boat."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 12: "T-Bone with Stakes" "Capt. Glenn notices the crew is slipping on service when a guest is injured, and interior doesn’t hear the walkie call forcing Capt. Glenn to up the guest maintenance standards onboard. After Alex and Mads confess their feelings from the start, Mads is torn between Alex and Gary. Shaken after a close T-Bone with a nearby boat, Gary is confused when his advances to Mads aren’t being reciprocated."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 13: "Hurricane Bonnie" "Captain Glenn reprimands the crew as recent slip-ups are directly affecting communication and morale; Daisy breaks down when she's proven wrong about the walkies not working; Chef Ileisha is determined to prove she can complete a 10-course dinner."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 14: "Boat Load of Throuples" "Capt. Glenn threatens to kick one of the 'throuple' charter guests off Parsifal during a drunken guest fight. Mads receives a wake-up call that prompts her to dismiss Gary’s apology attempt and more seriously consider Alex leaving Gary with a stomach full of regret. Unhappy with Gary, Alex and Colin decide to follow their hearts instead."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 15: "Man Buns Has it Been Fun": "Proud of his team’s accomplishments during the final sail, Capt. Glenn believes his tough love made them all stronger. The crew celebrates their final night out and Daisy and Colin try to soak up every moment of it. Following tearless goodbyes, Capt. Glenn and Gary stay onboard Parsifal to pick up another charter season."

New to the series are chef Ileisha Dell, stews Lucy Edmunds and Mads Herrera and deckhands Chase Lemacks and Alex Propson.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 plot

Bravo offered this synopsis of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 and it gives you a good sense of what's coming in the new season:

"Capt. Glenn and his comeback team Daisy Kelliher, Gary King and Colin MacRae resume their responsibilities aboard Parsifal III, along with new, dynamic crew members, as they set sail in Sardinia, Italy. Capt. Glenn realizes that his laid-back leadership style has allowed his crew to become too comfortable and starts taking charge of quality control in the interior department, much to Daisy's dismay.

"In the galley, Chef Ileisha’s cooking impresses the guests, but her indecisiveness and co-dependency lead to time-management issues between courses, which causes her to self-destruct. On deck, strong personalities collide, and a power struggle results in a near mutiny, as Gary clashes with his new overconfident deckhand, Chase.

"Two overlapping love triangles further complicate the dynamics on-board, and a shocking hookup puts Colin, Daisy and Gary’s friendship in jeopardy. With a near collision, fire, crew rebellion, gruesome guest injury and two different potentially season-ending engine failures, this is the most captivating and unpredictable season yet of Below Deck Sailing Yacht ."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap: Goodbye, Gabriela

By Glenn Rowley

Well, so much for that clean slate. This week’s episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht was all about Gabriela Barragan and the downward spiral she just couldn’t get out of. The second stew started the hour in tears. And ended the hour walking down the dock and off the show. She just couldn’t get it together. But to be honest, after watching the episode, I’m kind of left wondering what the big deal was? Am I the only one?

It was all supposed to be so much more fun than this. After all, there wasn’t even an actual charter in this week’s episode! But it was just proof that a bad attitude can ruin just about anything. On their night out, Captain Glenn Shephard organized a dinner ashore for the crew at La Caprichosa Pizzeria. But almost as soon as everyone sits down, the table nearly clears out, leaving Gabriela alone with Colin Macrae . The chief engineer attempts to give the stew a pep talk of sorts, but even he has to admit that sometimes, her sourpuss outlook when she’s not at her best. It’s basically the same criticism she heard from Daisy Kelliher last week, but it doesn’t seem to be making a difference yet.

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 gary king ashley marti hook up hot tub makeout colin macrae gabriela barragan

The crew heads back to the boat, where half go to bed and half keep the party going. The latter half mostly being Gary King and Ashley Marti , who head to the hot tub together. Before you know it, and despite the third stew’s insistence that she’s not interested, the two are making out. Ashley’s straddling him. And it’s all in full view of both Colin and Gabriela — the former of whom simply can’t understand the magic spell his best bud seemingly puts on every female onboard Parsifal.

Of course, the sexual tension between Gary and Ashley can’t help but escalate. And soon enough, the pair sneak downstairs to a guest cabin for what is, ostensibly, supposed to be a back massage. But subtitles give away what’s really happening behind closed doors. Which, apparently, is drunken nudity and some form of intercourse. Except halfway through getting it on, Gary balks at what he’s doing and retreats to his cabin, leaving Ashley to slink back to bed by herself.

The next day is supposed to be even more fun…because it’s the crew’s day off! But everyone partied so hard the night before that the morning gets off to a bit of a rough start. Like  Kelsie Goglia fully passing out in her cabin in search of her elusive water bottle. And then there’s Gary , who claims he can’t remember anything that happened the night before with Ashley . Not the massage(s). Not the strip-down in the cabin. And certainly not anything sexual. Not even an awkward conversation with the stew can jog his memory, which…doesn’t bode particularly well for their sexual chemistry. Right?

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 gabriela barragan day off

For their long-awaited, and much-needed, day off, Captain Glenn has gifted the crew with a fancy villa all to themselves. The views from the vacation rental at Cala Llonga Resort are unquestionably spectacular. But as always, the alcohol gets flowing and the drama kicks off. Ashley decides to put Gary on blast and claims in front of the whole group that she gave him a blowjob the night before. Gary doesn’t know what to believe. Because, well, you’d think he would remember that. So, that’s…awkward.

The rest of the day is wiled away by the pool, in the pool and around the pool. And Gabriela ‘s determined to have a good time. There’s more drinking. Some harmless joking. Then the joking turns pointed. Gabriela starts irritating Chef Marcos Spaziani by imitating his Venezuelan accent and apparent  penchant for name-dropping his home country. As a political refugee who hasn’t been back to Venezuela or seen his family in years, it’s a pretty low blow. But something tells me Gabriela wasn’t thinking about any of that as she tried to poke fun at him.

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 chef marcos spaziani vs gabriela barragan

Then, when Marcos is already annoyed, things manage to get worse. He playfully flips over the tube Daisy ‘s floating on, and causes the chief stew’s leg to smack Gabriela right in the face. What could’ve — and probably should’ve — been chalked up to a harmless accident quickly escalates into a war of words between the two. Gabriela thinks the chef wants her to die alone. (That took a weird turn.) But honestly, I’m too distracted by Marcos holding an underwater camera likely handed to him by production to really follow much of the argument. Long story short, it ends with Gabriela storming off and feeling more isolated than ever.

Hours later, there’s still dinner to attend to. And over a large bowl of steaming paella, Marcos and Gabriela manage to call a truce. And even do it in Portuguese, no less! In an attempt to shift the focus off the tension that’s been brewing all day between the chef and the stew, Daisy entertains the table with a hilarious big of Irish dancing. Where was that jig when you had to put together a talent show, Dais? Still, while everything finally appears pleasant enough on the surface, the day off ends with Gabriela officially on the bad side of more than a few of her crew mates by the time they get back to Parsifal.

The following day is a turnover day for the boat. Meaning there’s still 24 hours for the bad blood to fester before guests come aboard. Feeling responsibility as a head of department, Daisy ‘s determined to mitigate the interpersonal drama. But she doesn’t know exactly where to start and dreads being forced to have a talk with Gabriela . Instead, she talks to Captain Glenn , warning him that there are some issues afoot. Without naming names, she promises to handle the personality clash before bringing him into it.

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 gabriela barragan quits confessional

There’s still work to be done, however, and Captain Glenn calls Daisy , Gary and Chef Marcos together for the next preference sheet meeting. All we learn about the new primary is that she’s a cosmetic dermatologist from Greenwich, Connecticut. Oh, and she insists on the entire crew addressing her as “Dr. Kim.” So apparently she thinks she’s the queen of England on top of being a skin doctor. So that should be fun.

Meanwhile, Gabriela woke up with more than a few regrets, and spends much of the day emotionally spiraling. Phoning a friend from home only intensifies the waterworks. And by midday, she asks Captain Glenn if he can talk. Explaining that she’s clearly working through some internal issues, the stew gives her notice and quits on the spot. The funniest part is that Captain Glenn truly has no idea what’s even going on. But he respects Gabriela’s need to put herself first. And even says he’d be more than happy to work with her again. With less than a day before the next charter, the team is now down a stew and  a deckhand. Though from the looks of the midseason trailer, reinforcements are on their way…

TELL US — ARE YOU SURPRISED GABRIELA QUIT? IS ASHLEY BEING HONEST ABOUT HER FAILED HOOKUP WITH GARY? CAN GARY REALLY NOT REMEMBER OR DO YOU THINK HE’S PLAYING DUMB? WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE MIDSEASON TRAILER?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht  Recap: Sequins and Wigs

Below deck sailing yacht.

below deck sailing yacht season 3 episode guide

I’m dreading writing this one, readers. This episode was a snooze, but nevertheless, she (me) persists (writes the recap). I feel like I’m picking over someone else’s leftovers. It’s all unappetizing! I guess we can start with the Gary-Ashley-Scarlett triangle.

Gary “confronts” Ashley before the charter comes aboard, meaning he says to her, “So are we going to stop being childish, Ash?” before “joking” that they should all (all being Gary, Scarlett, and Ashley) just kiss and make up. He truly wishes. Ashley sighs; Gary leaves. Done!

Scarlett and Gary pull a Paige and Carl of  Summer House  fame and make out in the pantry mere moments later. I’m bored already! Colin distills it best: “In typical Gary fashion, Scarlett’s the new girl on the block, so he’s trying out all his best moves. He’s pulling out all the stops. This guy … I can’t figure out how his brain works.” And if Colin, an engineer, can’t figure it out, I don’t think any of us can.

And at the same time, I kind of get the Gary thing in a freaky sort of way. I don’t get it enough to go full Teresa Giudice over him à la Ashley, but I get it enough in that I’d probably shamelessly flirt back with him à la Daisy.

And because everyone wants to know, here is my opinion on Daisy’s feelings for Gary: Daisy is a smart girl. She sees Gary for what he is. Would she ever hook up with him? Yes, and she has. But she doesn’t actually care about him  like that . Scarlett says she gets a “vibe” from Daisy that she has a thing for Gary. This is objectively wrong! They have a bond, yes. They’re friends. They’ve worked together, in close quarters, for years. Maybe she flirts with him, but it’s harmless fun. Let’s contextualize when, why, and how Scarlett says this, shall we?

Earlier in the day, Gary insists to Daisy that he needs a stew for beverage service when he takes the guests out on the tender for snorkeling and swimming. He claims it looks more professional for a stew to be onboard since he’ll be busy driving. Oh, and also he wants Scarlett specifically! Daisy’s bullshit detector goes off the second she hears this: Why would you need a full-ass stew to join you on a tender and pour drinks? This isn’t a beach lunch! Her stews have work to do! Oh, wait, it’s because he wants to flirt with Scarlett out at sea. This is not going to work for Daisy. As she says in a confessional, “You’ve got one reason to be here, and it’s to fucking work.” Daisy goes,  Fine Gary, you win, but I’ll be the stew joining . Checkmate.

Of course, Daisy does nothing aboard … nothing but prove her point. Her presence on the tender is useless, and she pours nary a drink while the guests splash around. Okay, with this in mind, I bring you to part two.

As Daisy and Scarlett turn down beds and whatnot, Daisy lets it rip. She’s fuming at Gary for overstepping and trying to call the shots for  her  department. “All Gary does all day is cause trouble,” she says. Zero lies detected! Mama is mad because she doesn’t stop. She slams Gary for hooking up with one stew (Ashley), trading her for the next one (Scarlett), and having the gall to call her, Chief Stew, unprofessional? Take a look in the mirror, pal! It’s worth noting that I’ve never seen Daisy this bothered! Some might say it’s because she has a crush on Gary and it’s finally getting to her. Enemies to lovers, perhaps? No, I say. It’s because he’s being fucking annoying and creating more work for Daisy. Anyway, Gary later says sorry to Daisy for picking a fight with her and admits it was petty. This behavior unsettles Daisy (and me), but she accepts his apology and moves on.

Ashley, on the other hand, was down bad for Gary and I suspect still is — despite her attempts to hide it. I commend Scarlett for being straight up with Ashley, though. Scarlett pulls Ashley aside to let her know Gary’s coming onto her. “Does that bother you?” Scarlett asks. Bold move! Ashley is simply not a skilled enough actress to convince us viewers that “Garlett” doesn’t bother her, but she tries, bitter as she is.

Okay, enough with that! Onto the charter. Primary guest Keely Washburn joined us last season, and for better or worse, my mind has completely blacked her out. I don’t remember a single thing about her or her friends, but I did discover she used a photo of her aboard what seems to be the  Parsifal III  to commemorate 9/11 on  Instagram . Her friends have a slew of dietary restrictions, which is neither here nor there except that they request a ten-course dinner. Poor Marcos has his work cut out for him! Poor Marcos also has to deal with one guest exclusively speaking to him in bad Spanish with a weird (and racist?) accent. Not a problem, he says; he is simply there to fill any chef fantasy they may have. That same guest compares his green-bean tempura to a dish at P.F. Chang’s.

Speaking of which, these guests seem to have the world’s blandest palates. They’re afraid to eat duck and quail eggs but manage to choke them down. Don’t worry, sweeties, you’ll be back in the land of safe foods soon.

At least Captain Glenn is thinking about us, the audience, when he suggests a race against  La Cattiva , another yacht he spots across the water. I am salivating at the thought of our dear Captain Glenn in action, cutting across the water, setting his majestic sails to the wind. That image of a giddy Glenn on the racecourse will keep me full until next week, and it will have to! We don’t get to watch the race. Instead, the episode ends with a “To be continued …” and readers, I have  high  expectations.

Ranking Every ‘Below Deck’ Show From Most to Least Memorable: Mediterranean, Adventure and More

Bravo's Below Deck series has inspired several spinoffs — but not every one has left an impression.

Below Deck , which debuted on Bravo in 2013, introduced viewers to various crew members who reside and work on a superyacht during charter season. The original series quickly became a major success for the network, spawning spinoffs that include Below Deck Mediterranean, Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Below Deck Down Under and Below Deck Adventure .

The show has since become an example of Bravo's rare all-year long programming with a Below Deck series airing new episodes at any given moment. While most of the cast has changed from season to season, viewers have gotten invested in some of the mainstays , which are usually the captains and the chief stews or bosuns.

However, not every show has stuck with fans the exact same way. Certain iterations didn't last longer than a season while others have become more memorable than the OG Below Deck show.

A Guide to ‘Below Deck’ and Its Many Spinoffs: ‘Below Deck Mediterranean,’ ‘Below Deck Down Under’ and More

Keep scrolling to see Us ' ranking of the Below Deck shows — in order from most to least memorable.

1) 'Below Deck Mediterranean'

When some of Us weren't looking, Below Deck Mediterranean surprisingly became the backbone of the franchise that earned it first place on this list . A large part of that is Captain Sandy Yawn , who for better or for worse has gotten viewers reinvigorated about Below Deck . It takes a special kind of captain to not always make decisions everyone likes but that keeps fans coming back for more.

Sandy's priority is being a good captain but somewhere along the way she became Below Deck gold. Everything else is just icing on the cake when Sandy is at the center of every season in the Mediterranean.

2) 'Below Deck'

The original show paved the way for every other iteration to find its place on Bravo. Without Below Deck — and Captain Lee Rosbach — fans wouldn't know just how compelling drama on the high seas can actually be.

One reason why Below Deck isn't at the very top is tied to the show’s decision to fix what wasn't broken. Captain Lee was the face of the franchise — so it wasn't easy to say goodbye when he was replaced following a decade on Below Deck . The switch came several seasons after chief stew Kate Chastain left and it was too much change at once for some of Us .

3) 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'

Speaking of shows overshadowed by controversy, Below Deck Sailing Yacht had it all when it originally premiered on Bravo in 2020 . Paternity scandals, love triangles and Below Deck alums that overstayed their welcome by making the audience turn on them again.

Captain Glenn Shephard confidently steered Below Deck Sailing Yacht into a successful future but other factors ultimately got in the way.

First of all, Daisy Kelliher 's messy feelings for Colin Macrae and Gary King sounded like good reality TV on paper but it wasn't as interesting on screen. The trio actually made it harder to come back around each week because it was exhausting to see them hash out their confusing issues.

Season 4 wrapped up with the promise of more episodes before Gary made headlines for his sexual misconduct scandal. He has maintained his innocence and no official statement has been given on the future of the show but Below Deck Sailing Yacht has yet to release any news about another season since the drama.

4) 'Below Deck Down Under'

The spinoff set in Australia should have been a slam dunk with Bravo's favorite hottie Captain Jason Chambers and fan-favorite chief stew Aesha Scott by his side. However, Below Deck Down Under initially struggled because it was premiering on Peacock instead of Bravo meaning viewers didn't know to look for a new show.

Season 2 was what put Below Deck Down Under on the map but not for the reason anyone was hoping. A shocking consent scandal halfway through the season resulted in Luke Jones and Laura Bileskaline getting fired from the boat , which Below Deck Down Under was applauded for as new episodes continued to cover the aftermath.

Despite the fact that Jason and Aesha received praise for how they handled the situation , there has been no news about the show's future. It is possible that the drama overshadowed the show itself — and not in a good way.

5) 'Below Deck Adventure'

The fourth spinoff was meant to be the most action-packed as guests signed up for thrill-seeking activities along the Norwegian Fjords. After premiering in November 2022, Below Deck Adventure failed to find an audience week to week and subsequently faded out of everyone's mind.

Bravo never announced the show's cancellation but it's probably safe to assume that not many fans were asking for a status update. Instead, Captain Kerry Titheradge was moved to Below Deck and everyone forgot the first failed Below Deck spinoff series.
