Blog | RIP Chris Cline

The details are still hazy, but the tragic outlines of what happened are not. In the early morning hours of July 4th, Chris Cline, the well-known coal magnate and philanthropist; his daughter, Kameron; and five other people took off in a helicopter from Big Grand Cay, a 280-acre archipelago in the Bahamas owned by Cline. Their aircraft crashed shortly after liftoff, and, sadly, there were no survivors.

Chris Cline has rightly been remembered as a coal industry visionary and quintessentially American success story – he famously started his career as a 15 year-old kid in the coal mines of West Virginia and worked his way to a $1.8 billion fortune. But we wanted to remember him as the highly-regarded yachtsman that he was.

Chris Cline’s first yacht purchase was “Mine Games”, a new-build 50-meter Trinity launched in 2008. That Trinity was sold in 2013 and now goes by “Amarula Sun”. A couple of years later, eager for an even bigger boat, Cline picked up a 2010 62-meter Benetti and called her, once again, “Mine Games”. She was sold just last year. Chris Cline’s reputation amongst crew members, yacht brokers, and others in our industry was impeccable.

While we likely could have guessed the name of Chris Cline’s next yacht – “Mine Games” worked too well to let go – we’re sorry that we’ll never get the chance to see what direction he went in for his third big boat. Rest in Peace.

Opulent yet functional superyacht Mine Games is on the market

Those who regularly drive or sail by — or even visit — Rybovich on North Flagler Drive might recognize Mine Games, which is owned by coal-mining tycoon Chris Cline of North Palm Beach and is often docked at the West Palm Beach marina.

Stretching 203 feet, the yacht is hard to miss.

Striking and opulent with a price tag of $29.95 million, Mine Games will be on view at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. The yacht, which was built in 2010 by Benetti and refit in 2015, features a sleek exterior designed by Stefano Natucci and a chic Empire-style interior by Studio Massari.

“True to Benetti’s heritage, Mine Games is built to the finest specifications (with) accommodations for 12 guests,” said Galati Yacht Sales agent Brandon Kummer. “Some of her standout features include a touch-and-go helipad, a baby grand piano, an air-conditioned open-air gymnasium (and) an elevator to all decks.”

For the comfort of those on board, the yacht also has an advanced “zero-speed” stabilizer system that can operate in rough seas or at anchor and an 8,000 nautical mile range.

On the sun deck are a bar, outdoor dining areas, a whirlpool spa, a fully equipped gym and a Turkish bath and shower. The raised helicopter deck can be converted to lounge/sunbathing area with movable furniture and covered awnings.

On the bridge deck is the full-beam sky lounge, with a baby grand piano, a full bar and an entertainment center. A bank of glass doors aft open to an exterior dining area. The VIP suite is also on this level.

On the main deck, the owner’s spacious multi-level master suite positions the bed on the upper level to capture wide ocean views. The master suite also includes a lounge with an office area and a dressing room. It’s decorated with mahogany furniture featuring gold-plated inserts, gold details, cream-colored upholstery and artwork.

The midships main salon and formal dining area have burl-wood panels, Swarovski crystals embedded in the black-lacquered furniture, a crystal chandelier and LED back lighting. Italian marbles include Botticino, yellow-Siena and gold Calacatta. The dining area also is equipped with a bar to the port side and a chess table starboard.

Three ensuite double cabins are on the lower deck. Two have Pullman-style berths, and one is a twin stateroom. Forward are six cabins for 15 crew members.

On board are a Castoldi jet drive tender and four Yamaha Waverunners.

The yacht’s MTU 12v4000 engines give Mine Games a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 16 knots.

“You can be certain this Benetti is equipped for the most discerning owners who want to make the most of their time onboard,” Kummer said, adding that the yacht combines “opulent design without sacrificing functionality.”

Motoryacht Mine Games owner among seven dead in helicopter crash

Yacht owner and coal executive Christopher Cline died in a helicopter crash on Thursday, July 4, according to media reports . It has been reported that he was one of seven killed when the helicopter crashed in the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas. NBC News reported that the Bahamian police confirmed that four females and three males died, but they have not released the victims’ names. Mr. Cline was 60.

“He was one of the good guys,” said Billy Smith, formerly of Trinity Yachts, the builder of Mr. Cline’s first yacht named Mine Games . Smith, now of Merle Wood and Metal Shark Boats, said he enjoyed working with Mr. Cline.

“He was a no-nonsense guy that was very easy to deal with, but he knew what he wanted,” Smith said. “He was all about quality, excellence, and everybody understood what he was trying to achieve.”

Trinity Yachts built Mr. Cline’s 164-foot (50m) M/Y Mine Games , which he had for “quite a while,” Smith said. After that yacht, the company started to build a 198-foot yacht, but Mr. Cline sold it halfway through construction because he received a good offer for it, Smith said.

“He was going to start a bigger one, but the idea of waiting two years got to him,” Smith said. “Then he got the 203-foot Benetti M/Y Mine Games .”

Although Mr. Cline’s primary focus at Trinity was yachts, Smith said he had looked into tug and barge operations to move coal.

“He was a tough business guy, but he did not have the idea that, ‘I have to win and you lose’. He was about ‘this needs to make sense to both of us,” Smith said.

He was well liked by a variety of people in the yacht industry, from dock attendants to yacht builders, according to Smith.

“Some people treat their peers different than workers, and when you see someone nice to people they ‘don’t need to be nice to’, people they don’t need something from, that tells you a lot about their character,” Smith said. “If you saw or dealt with him, you never, ever had a sense of how rich he was. He never forgot where he came from.”

Smith remembered an unannounced visit to Trinity when Mr. Cline showed up with his helicopter pilot, his best friend from high school. They stopped in on their Honda Gold Wings, driving their motorcycles across country.

“He was nice, sharp, and quiet,” Smith said. “He surrounded himself with good people. I liked him because he was very active with yachts, motorcycles, helicopters  – he was straightforward, no games.”

Size Matters: Elin Nordegren's Boyfriend Chris Cline's Yacht Is Bigger Than Tiger Woods'

Golf superstar comes up a wee bit short in a battle over who's got the bigger boat.

Now here's something else Lindsey Vonn can crack jokes about.

A yacht owned by the Olympian's new beau, Tiger Woods , is docked awkwardly right next to a luxury liner owned by Chris Cline , the billionaire boyfriend of the golfer's ex-wife, Elin Nordegren .

And as it happens, Woods' ironically monikered "Privacy" is 155 feet in length, 9 feet less than Cline's vessel named Mind Games (is he trying to send Tiger a message or something?), which spans 164 feet and even comes with its own two-person submarine .

No word on the ships' girth, but both are parked in Palm Beach, Fla., not far from where Tiger's former missus and the coal baron own separate estates in the posh Seminole Landing development.

• The Monaco Yacht Show takes place this week, where 40 new superyachts will make their worldwide debut.
• Many yachts at the Monaco Yacht Show are owned by notable billionaires or have been chartered by the rich and famous.
• These are just a few of the billionaire-owned yachts expected to be at the Monaco Yacht Show.

The Monaco Yacht Show is set to take place from September 26 to September 29. A playground for the ultra rich, the yachting event of the year is welcoming 40 new superyacht debuts among a host of other well-known superyachts that have already hit the waters.

With yachts over 100 feet costing an average of  $1 million per 3.3 feet , many of these yachts are a mere indulgence among billionaires. The 1% flock to the show looking for their next purchase, while others put their colossal floating giants up for show.

Using the Monaco Yacht Show's list of exhibiting yachts , we compiled a list of yachts expected to be at the show that are owned by some of the world's most notable billionaires.

From motor yacht Kismet, owned by auto parts billionaire Shahid Khan and chartered by Beyoncé and Jay-Z , to motor yacht Aquarius, owned by Las Vegas businessman Steve Wynn, see which billionaire yachts are expected to be at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Owner:  Dmitry Pumpyansky

Net worth:  $1.3 billion

Russian billionaire Dmitry Pumpyansky  largely built his wealth making steel pipes. He reportedly owns the 236-foot yacht Axioma, which features an infinity swimming pool. Her charter rates range from $700,722 to $747,829 a week.

Owner: Darwin Deason

Net worth: $1.3 billion

Tech entrepreneur Darwin Deason earned his wealth by selling his company to Xerox. He owns the 2015-foot yacht Apogee , which is currently for sale for nearly $25 million . She has a certified scuba diving instructor on board and a sundeck Jacuzzi that can fit up to 12 people.

When former chairman of BB Retail Brett Blundy isn't working on building a beef cattle empire in northern Australia, he's busy cruising his yacht, the 242-foot Cloud 9 , which charters for nearly $900,000 a week during the winter. Everything on board was reportedly designed for Blundy, including bedroom suites named after Star Wars characters and various chess sets throughout the yacht, according to The Guardian .

Net worth: $3 billion

Steve Wynn , cofounder of Wynn Resorts, built his wealth creating casinos and hotels throughout Las Vegas and spent some of it purchasing the yacht Aquarius. At 301 feet, she has a massage room, helipad, beauty salon, swimming pool, and beach club.

Net worth: $6.8 billion

With a $6 billion-plus fortune from Uralkali, a Russian producer of potassium fertilizer, Dmitry Rybolvlev  owns a Greek Island — which he can visit via the yacht he reportedly owns, Anna I . At nearly 220 feet, the yacht boasts a skylounge with a movie screen, a dip pool, and a steam room. She charters for half a million a week during the winter.

Net worth: $7.8 billion

Motor yacht Kismet, with a weekly charter rate of around $1.29 million , has had a lot of celebrity guests step aboard. Not only is it owned by billionaire Shahid Khan — who also owns Fulham football club and the Jacksonville Jaguars — it's also been chartered by Beyoncé and Jay-Z. She has a multi-level swimming pool, basketball court, and helipad.

Elin Nordegren’s Boyfriend Chris Cline Has a Bigger Yacht Than Ex-Husband Tiger Woods

Bigger is better? Elin Nordegren ‘s rumored new boyfriend Chris Cline ‘s yacht was photographed moored directly in front of ex-husband Tiger Woods ‘ yacht on Monday, March 18 on Florida’s Jupiter Island — and it’s quite a bit bigger!

According to TMZ , Cline’s yacht, named Mine Games, is 164 feet, while Woods’ boat, Privacy, is 155 feet.

Nordegren, 33, began dating Cline, 53, over the holidays, The New York Post ‘s Page Six reported. Cline is the owner of coal producer Foresight Energy and is worth a reported $1.2 billion. He owns a mansion in North Palm Beach, Fla., where Nordegren has been renovating a mansion of her own.

The Swedish former model and Woods, 37 — who are parents to kids Sam, 5, and Charlie, 4 — divorced in 2010 following his very public cheating scandal. Woods announced in a statement and couple portrait photos on Monday that he is dating Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn , 28.

Back in 1958, Zelenograd was a new town formed and planned by the Soviet Union, specialized to become the central hub of electronics, microelectronics and the computer industry, and it has become as such to this very day for Russia. Dubbed as the "Green City" in reference to the city's color and the symbolic animal, the squirrel, Zelenograd offers much more as it provides wide, open spaces where modernity and nature meet. Through the photographs of Lomographer Igor Silaev a.k.a. mahoney66 , we see a gorgeous glimpse of his life in the okrug in harmonious colors.

I think 2020 was very hard for everyone. There are various restrictions in the country. Due to some restrictions, I even had to change jobs. But it was only good because I had more free time. Thanks to this, I returned to photography!

I live in Zelenograd (Autonomous district of Moscow). Unlike the center of Moscow, it is more calm and measured, and there are a lot of trees in our city (Zelenograd literally translates as green city ). Thanks to this, you can feel a certain connection with nature here, as if you are in the village. But at the same time, some areas look like a metropolis. There is also a very unusual architecture in the style of post-Soviet modernism, it is very inspiring. That's probably why I love this city.

First of all, I love my view from the window, because there are unreal sunsets. There are also many parks and alleys in the city, and in my opinion, they are much more picturesque than parks in the center of Moscow and not so mainstream. I would recommend Victory Park (not to be confused with the Park of the same name in Moscow) and the arboretum. From the Central parks, I would recommend VDNH, there is something to see and shoot.

Next to my house there is a Tanuki restaurant, where they prepare delicious Asian food. And from the bars I would recommend Hops & Coffee, it is located next to the train station. There are many varieties of author's beer and damn fine coffee!... and hot! If we talk about the center, then be sure to visit the cafe PEOPLE as PEOPLE -- this is a pleasant place where you can eat delicious and inexpensive food.

I Advise you to come to Moscow in the middle of summer, at this time there are the most comfortable weather conditions and you can walk all day long. Visit as many attractions and parks as possible, take a ride in the Moscow metro and take as much film with you as possible because here it is much more expensive! If you still need a film, then I recommend Perspektivalab . They have a good selection of films and the price is reasonable.

I like to think about the first time I went to Sokolniki Park with my girlfriend. That day, I was terribly stung by my new sneakers, but even that didn't spoil this beautiful day. We walked all day and took a lot of pictures. If you are in Moscow, be sure to go to Sokolniki Park!

CHRIS Morvillo is among a handful of people who have gone missing after a luxury yacht sank in a storm off Sicily.

The Bayesian was carrying 12 passengers and 10 crew when the boat sank . Here’s what we know about him.

Who is Chris Morvillo?

Christopher Morvillo is a prominent lawyer and partner at multinational law firm Clifford Chance.

Alongside Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer , Morvillo is one of the six missing passengers.

Early in the search, it was revealed that UK tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his daughter, Hannah, were also unaccounted for .

The 56-metre Bayesian was carrying 22 people including Brits, Americans and Canadians.

Fifteen people were rescued after the yacht capsized due to a heavy storm that caused waterspouts, or rotating columns of air and mist.

One body has been recovered , officials said.

Fire rescue crews reported that divers were unable to access the below-deck cabins because they were blocked by debris that had shifted during the violent storm that toppled the luxury sailboat early Monday.

Diver Marco Tilotta said there is a " world of objects " including furniture and debris obstructing the narrow stairs in front of the yacht cabins

The search still continues for the missing six, including Morvillo's wife, Neda.

Morvillo had served as Steven Chamberlain and Lynch's lawyer during a highly publicised trial .

Lynch and Chamberlain were accused of fraud in the US in relation to the £8.6billion sale of his business Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard in 2011.

Lynch said of the trial: “It’s surreal.”

“I’ve heard comments from people that just don’t paint the picture of the company that I and my colleagues and friends worked at for 15 years.”

However, it was revealed that Chamberlain had been killed in a road accident just days before as the search for the missing passengers continued.

According to his bio on the Clifford Chance website, Morvillo has extensive experience representing corporate and individual clients in white-collar government investigations.

From 1999 to 2005, Morvillo served as an assistant US attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Among other notable prosecutions and investigations, Morvillo assisted in the criminal investigation surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.

Morvillo was also one of the lead prosecutors on the successful 10-month counter-terrorism trial of defence attorney Lynne Stewart and her co-conspirators, one of the longest criminal trials in Southern District history. 

The lawyer investigated, tried and handled appeals in a wide variety of criminal cases, including in the area of healthcare fraud, insurance fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice, and narcotics.

He also deals with related regulatory and civil proceedings, and internal investigations.

His wife Neda runs her own high-end jewellery line using her maiden name Neda Nassiri.
