Motor Yacht M&M is available for a yacht charter in Turkey, Greece, and Croatia. The yacht is able to accommodate up to 10 guests in five luxury suites including 2 large Master cabins with a king-size bed, 2 VIP cabins with Queen Size bed, and a guest cabin with two single beds. All cabins feature an en-suite bathroom with shower and toilette, intercom, satellite phone, and entertainment system. Superyacht M&M has a crew of 6 to attend to the owner and charter guests.

The 35-meter model of the displacement series by Filippetti Yacht was designed by Hot Lab with eco-sustainable materials in order to reduce the environmental impact.

THE PERFECT MIX OF LUXURY, COMFORT AND WELL-BEING

Your stress-releasing journey comes true on board the Filippetti Navetta 35 . Guests can relax in the three solarium areas, each wide and private, positioned in the bow, stern and center of the yacht. The main deck houses the majestic master cabin, equipped with very wide spaces, en-suite bathroom and wardrobe. The aft section houses the main deck and the exterior dinette. Equipped with a jacuzzi and a private bow area, the solarium gives guests the possibility to enjoy the upmost privacy, relax on the two large sofas or have a chat around the coffee tables. The upper deck houses a living area with a large dinner table. On the upper deck, the owner can admire the panorama, protected by the hard top, or enjoy navigation from the highest point of the yacht. Below deck, the night area consists of four guest cabins – three double and a single one – all equipped with en-suite bathroom.

A GYM ON THE WATER

Training in the middle of the ocean is now possible. In the center of the yacht, in fact, there is a true gym on the water, equipped with advanced equipment, massage table and private sauna. An opening balcony creates a unique sea view here.

LIGHT IN EVERY ENVIRONMENT

Light is the main player of this Navetta . All environments are flooded with natural light by the enveloping side windows that offer an ample view all around. Below deck, in the middle, the VIP cabin exploits the whole width of the boat, with ample windows on each side.

Once you have made a decision to purchase a motor yacht, the next step is to determine exactly what make of motor yacht will best fit your requirements. There are so many different motor yachts, give yourself time to find the right one and ask yourself this.

These 5 questions give you some clarity on what to consider when purchasing a motor yacht.

• How many guests and crew (combined) are you comfortable with aboard? Privately registered motor yachts can carry no more than 12 passengers, so often this will define the length of the vessel.
• Then consider functionality and lifestyle. Decide upfront what you want out of the motor yacht, are you planning to use it for charter, private cruising, sport, remote office, family vacations or entertainment or all of the above?

If you plan on becoming your own captain, the best hull size on average for a single-handed skipper would be between 32ft to 42ft.

The best motor yacht length is defined by both the objective and purpose of the vessel. Added to this one should consider both the budget and upkeep costs, including dockage fees, as these are most often calculated at a per foot rate. The next factor would be to select a good for the number of passengers you wish to have aboard (family, guests, crew), as the number of sleeping berths are limited on smaller hull sizes. As you increase your hull size, you need to consider that this will then add an extra headcount because you have to factor in additional space for crew.

They say the old golden unwritten nautical rule is that boat length is always defined by a person’s age. Whatever your age, double it, and that gives you a perfect hull length in feet (for example, if you are 40 years of age you should consider an 80ft hull length).

They can cost anywhere between $100,000- $10,000,000. The sky’s the absolute limit when it comes to what you can spend on a motor yacht. Used or new, the cost is often defined by the design, size and year of manufacture. Quality motor yachts are built to last and most often retain market related value if they are properly maintained and have an accident free history.

Motor yachts are generally between 33ft – 79 feet, super yachts are generally over 79 feet in hull length, and mega yachts are over 100 feet.

If you purchase a globally recognized brand, it makes selling the boat in the future much easier. The established global motor yacht brands offer a range of existing designs that can be customized to suit any individual requirement. These approved motor yacht designs are often updated with the latest technology and modifications over the years. A tip is that reputable international brands retain market value over the years so are considered a valuable investment.

There is never one best hull type for a motor yacht, there is rather a series or collection of yachts or vessels that are released and they often use the exact same hull design for different lengths in a series. There is a huge selection and variation of hull designs, and this is exactly what defines a yacht. Motor boat hulls are specifically designed to cut through water with the least possible resistance while remaining balanced in all types of weather and water conditions. Each year hull designs improve and often a new hull release is about using the latest carbon fiber molding techniques for structural strength, rather than a modification to the actual shape of the design.

Super yachts are power driven water vessels specially designed by yacht engineers and shipbuilders and are normally 71 – 99 feet in length. Super yachts that exceed 100ft in length are classified as mega yachts.

A Grande entrance: Inside Azimut’s new 35m flagship

Azimut has a tagline it likes to use when describing its new Grande 35 Metri: “No half measures”. There can’t be — the territory the yard has entered with its flagship yacht is not short on competition. Princess and Sunseeker have significant roots in the 34 to 36 metre market. Sanlorenzo sits pretty comfortably in that space with its SL118. There are options from Turkey, Taiwan and the UAE. There’s more local competition from smaller yards like DL Yachts , while Westport over in the US keeps pumping out its hugely successful 112s. With a range of options (and prices) this wide, Azimut’s job was to bring something new to the party; to lay down a marker.

The two people it tasked with doing this were long-time collaborator Stefano Righini for exterior styling and Achille Salvagni , who crafted the interior. You’ve heard of Righini — he’s a legend, responsible for the designs of hundreds of yachts from the likes of Azimut, Benetti and Overmarine . Few people have had more influence on modern motor yacht design. If you’ve heard of Salvagni, it’s probably because you know his range of exquisite furniture sold at his atelier in London, or at Maison Gerard in New York. But take note of his name: he’s a growing force in superyacht design, working not only with the Azimut-Benetti group but also with Rossinavi on two of its 2017 launches: Endeavour II and Aurora .

The pair faced very different challenges on this project. Righini’s was to take a wide body platform, with vast volumes (for a 35 metre) and make the Grande 35 Metri look low-slung and trim. In short, take a fat boat and put it on a stylistic diet. His long overhangs, huge dark areas of glazing and sloping wheelhouse window lines all distract from the fact that there’s a whole lot of boat here.

“The search for volume is a constant demand,” says Giovanna Vitelli, vice-president of Azimut-Benetti. “And this is our response, keeping the sleek lines. But we have to provide internal space because that is what the market requires.” Salvagni therefore had plenty of space to work with but he had to come up with a range of interiors for this semi-custom yacht that would suit all markets, from karaoke rooms for Asian clients to open kitchens for US ones.

On this first hull, “we wanted to be sophisticated, simple, contemporary and timeless at the same time”, says the designer. “The design philosophy was based on softness. To last, an interior can’t be aggressive, but it still needs its own personality. It’s very soft, very calm and relaxed. If it keeps that feeling, it will last.”

He deliberately departed from the yacht’s exterior style in conceiving the interior. “The yacht is so aggressive from the outside and I wanted to transmit the opposite sensation inside. The tension between the two opposites created a balance.” Salvagni’s expert eye has extended to the finish, which is very good indeed, with lots of curving, hard-to-fit detailing. Azimut even had to bring in some new expertise for this particular fit-out, according to the designer. “Some changes had to be made to deliver a yacht of this complexity and quality.”

At the interior’s heart is a circular seating area in the main saloon, which takes full advantage of the views offered by the huge windows on either beam. Getting such large panes of glass installed proved a strengthening challenge, admits Vitelli, but one the yard rose to. “If you think those are big, wait till you see the master cabin ,” she teases.

It’s becoming almost trite to exclaim at the size of windows on superyachts, since each new hull seems to present an ever more outrageous use of glass , but when they’re this big, on a yacht this size, it’s still worth saying: they are massive. And hugely impressive, pouring plenty of sharp Sardinian light into the already bright saloon. “I am obsessed by light,” Salvagni says.

Vitelli isn’t lying about the windows in the Grande 35 Metri’s main deck master cabin. They’re almost full-height and align perfectly with the bed, which Salvagni moved off the rear bulkhead to place in the middle of the room. “I keep fighting with the shipyard to keep this layout,” he says. “The connection between the bed, the view and being in the centre... you feel like a king.”

The port window has one more trick: it opens, dropping down to form a superyacht balcony — “the largest in this sector of the market”, according to Vitelli. Integral handrails in the balcony pop up, so using it is a simple, crewless operation. It adds to the floor space available, which is already ample.

A useful indicator of how much room the owners have is the fact we’re in the master cabin with perhaps 25 other people, all visitors to Azimut-Benetti’s Yachting Gala in Porto Cervo , yet no one is knocking shoulders. One of the ways Righini has managed to engineer all this volume is by designing that unusual blunt forepeak, which has allowed him to carry more hull forward and lay more deck on the bow. It’s a neat solution if you can get over how it looks, which, in the context of the Grande 35 Metri’s angles, isn’t bad.

All exterior spaces have benefitted. The foredeck seating and modest superyacht spa pool are a premier lounging space rather than an afterthought and the flybridge seems to stretch forever. “It’s the premier flybridge in the world in many senses,” says Paolo Vitelli, president and founder of Azimut-Benetti. It is a vast 70 square metre platform, made to feel bigger because all the furniture floats. “I hate to build anything against the walls, because it creates an empty space in the centre and it impacts the view,” says Salvagni.

Azimut has even squeezed in a superyacht beach club , a first for a yacht of this size. It’s not extensive, with just a bar and platform, but it will be a strong feature on charter brochures. The tender and toys sit across the lower deck ahead of this space and then you get to the engine room. This first hull is fitted with twin 2,400hp MTUs, and they give a maximum speed of 25.5 knots and a fast cruise of 21.

Azimut has used its extensive skills in carbon fibre to keep weight down — the entire superstructure is constructed with the material, for example. This adds cost, obviously, with carbon fibre coming in around 30 per cent more expensive than standard GRP, but Paolo Vitelli counters by saying this boat is around 26 per cent more efficient than the old 35 metre Azimut 116 .

“And the 116 was already a good boat,” he says. “So with the combination of the special hull with its wave piercer, carbon fibre and optimisation of everything, it’s quite a good result.” The Grande 35 Metri sits on traditional shafts and comes with both fin and gyro stabilisation. Sadly I’m not able to put either to the test as the yacht is on exhibition duty and tied firmly to the dock.

We head out instead in the yacht’s little brother, the Azimut Grande 27 Metri , and all is serene as we blast around in the short chop off Porto Cervo, suggesting good things for the performance of big bro. The market clearly thinks so too — Azimut has sold six Grande 35 Metris off plan, each with a starting price of around €12.5million. In among all that competition, the yacht has successfully found its place.

The announcement comes just after Dexcom, another diabetes company, released its own consumer-friendly sensor. Here's what to know about glucose monitoring.

Lingo is a continuous glucose monitor for people who don't use insulin and want more insight into how diet affects blood glucose. 

Abbott and Dexcom, two companies that have dominated the diabetes tech space, have cleared glucose-detecting biowearables for people who don't have diabetes or need them for medical purposes.

Blood sugar tracking is officially general-wellness territory. Abbott announced Thursday that its prescription-free continuous glucose monitor, Lingo, is now available  for sale in the US. It's been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration for adults who don't use insulin and would like insights into how their diet and daily life affects blood sugar. 

Lingo pricing starts at $49 for a two-week sensor and goes up based on length of plan. You can use your FSA or HSA dollars to purchase it. Lingo has already been available in the UK.

Last month, Dexcom, another diabetes tech company, announced that its over-the-counter continuous glucose monitor called Stelo is available for purchase. Stelo was cleared by the FDA for people with diabetes who don't need insulin and any other adult who wants more insight into how the foods they eat impacts their glucose levels. It costs $99 for a two-pack of sensors , which is a month's supply. Like for Lingo, you can use your FSA and HSA dollars to purchase it.

While people with diabetes need to monitor blood sugar levels to ensure their body has the appropriate amount to stay safe, blood sugar is everybody's primary form of energy. How well the body uses blood sugar is also a measure of metabolic health -- a term the medical community is still working out that describes how the body uses energy and how at-risk someone may be for health problems like heart disease.

But accurately tracking blood sugar, or even putting a firm finger on what it means to be "metabolically healthy," is tricky. What we eat, the type of exercise we recently did and even the stress we're under stress can all impact glucose levels. And consumer wearables like smartwatches and smart rings can't measure blood glucose, despite the existence of some counterfeit devices on the market that haven't been FDA cleared. 

This means the world of blood sugar has been the domain of diabetes tech companies like Dexom and Abbott, which already have sensors and technology -- continuous glucose monitors  -- many people with diabetes use every day. And the companies leading diabetes tech have also been laying down the framework to make metabolic health more mainstream. Both of Abbott's over-the-counter CGMS are based on its popular FreeStyle Libre sensor technology, as Dexcom's prescription-free Stelo follows the popular G6 and G7 CGM technology for people who use insulin. 

Here's what we know about the new over-the-counter CGMs, as well as insight from a company working on a new, non-invasive way to measure blood sugar.

The Stelo by Dexcom is a continuous glucose monitor for people with diabetes who don't need insulin, opening up the biosensor market to people with Type 2 diabetes. 

Over-the-counter CGMs are officially here. Who actually needs one?

Dexcom's Stelo is available now . It was designed for people with Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes in mind, so they can see how different foods, sleeping habits, stressful events and more impact glucose levels. It's also been  cleared by the FDA for any adult who wants to "better understand how diet and exercise may impact blood sugar levels." 

Abbott's Lingo, which it first announced at CES in 2022 along with plans for a whole line of biosensors that track more than glucose , is also available for purchase. The FDA cleared another glucose monitor from Abbott made specifically for people with Type 2 diabetes earlier this summer, though it's not currently available. 

CGMs are worn on the back of your arm like and resemble a small bandage. When attached, a tiny sensor that goes slightly below your skin reads blood glucose information and sends it to a paired app, allowing you to track your blood sugar information throughout the day and make note of any trends. Some CGMs have already been  used for "biohacking" glucose levels  by people who want to know how their body responds to food or what impacts their glucose levels. Companies such as  Nutrisense  are marketed more as a consumer device, but they require a prescription, which is taken care of through their websites.

However, the question of "who actually needs these?" remains. As Dr. Robert H. Shmerling wrote in an article for Harvard Health Publishing , CGMs can cost several thousand dollars a year, and companies marketing their use for the general public stand to make a big profit in an area of health that, as of now, does not have the research supporting it outside diabetes management. In its press release, Abbott pointed to research finding that just 12% of American adults are considered "metabolically healthy,"  but glucose measurements are just one of a few factors used to qualify metabolic health. 

On the other hand, one in three Americans have prediabetes -- a step before Type 2 diabetes which can be reversible. Providing actionable information on higher-than-average blood sugar trends could provide many people with the information needed to make choices for their health -- if they can afford it, that is. Neither Dexcom nor Abbott have provided exact prices for their consumer CGMs at this time, but costs for CGMs for people with diabetes who do not have health insurance  remains a barrier to health care access . 

Because consumer CGMs don't require a prescription and many cases likely wouldn't be considered medically necessary, someone who may have a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes would still likely pay top dollar for an over-the-counter CGM. The high cost of biosensors is one reason there's interest in non-invasive, even more consumer-friendly measures of tracking blood sugar.

At CES 2022, Abbott announced a new line of consumer biowearables called Lingo for people who don't have diabetes and don't need a prescription. They launched first in the UK and are expected to hit the US market this summer. 

Non-invasive blood sugar monitoring makes an appearance at the American Diabetes Association conference

There's no way to accurately measure blood sugar levels without getting at least a little bit under someone's skin. Even CGMs require a tiny sensor on the wearable patch, even though it's arguably less invasive than a finger prick. 

One company, Know Labs , is working to change that. The company was at the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions  in Orlando earlier this summer and presented promising results on the ability of its wearable device, the KnowU, to get stable readings of blood sugar without penetrating the skin. The company is still a ways out from having a device ready for the market and it's still collecting data to send to the FDA -- the prototype is still bulkier than a CGM, potentially making it a harder sell even if it's less invasive. But the company is expanding on the idea and use of photonics and sensors already integrated (for different purposes) into smartwatches and used to measure factors like blood oxygen.

Because LEDs can't accurately track glucose information, Know Labs had to go "further out on the electromagnetic spectrum," the company's CEO Ron Erickson told CNET. He said that, while a medical-grade device is likely the first step for the company, he's not opposed to opening up the patented technology to consumer wearable devices.

Calling Know Labs' technology "form-factor agnostic," Erickson wants glucose tracking to feed health trends -- which is the whole point of consumer wearables that give you health trends. 

"My longer vision, beyond glucose, is predictive health," he said.

Minnesota for the win.

Eagan native Mallory Weggemann claimed gold in the women’s 200m individual medley on Saturday in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

She also won silver in the women’s 50m butterfly with a time of 34.94 seconds, 2.02 seconds behind Canadian Paralympian Danielle Dorris.

The 35-year-old has been to the Paralympic games four times, with a total of four gold, two silver and one bronze medal to show for her efforts. She also has a total of 17 medals from world championships dating back to 2009.

Weggemann has been a swimmer since age 7. At 18, she was paralyzed from a medical procedural error after an epidural injection to treat back pain. Only a few months after the procedure, she went to the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center to watch the U.S. Swim Team Trials competition for the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing and decided to return to the sport.

The Paralympics closing ceremony is 2 p.m. CDT Sunday.
