Due to the international and fluid nature of the yachting business and the fact there is no global central industry listing service to which all charter yachts subscribe it is impossible to ascertain a truly up-to-date view of the market. We are a news and information service and not always informed when yachts leave the charter market, or when they are recently sold and renamed it is not clear if they are still for charter. Whilst we use our best endeavors to maintain accurate information, the existence of a listing on this website should in no way supersede official documentation supplied by representatives of a yacht.

Luxury yacht hit by tornado sinks off Palermo with 7 people missing including 4 Brits
A luxury yacht named the Bayesian, which had 22 people on board, has sunk off the coast of Palermo in southern Italy during a tornado with four Brits among seven missing and one person found dead

A luxury yacht carrying 22 people has sunk off the coast of Sicily during a tornado with seven people still missing and one body recovered by the wreck.
Four Brits, a Canadian and two Americans are believed to be missing alongside one crew member, a cook. An investigation is being carried out by the Port Authority, with the sunken ship - called the Bayesian - which had a British flag found half a mile from the coast. Divers have found the body of a man in the water by the boat.
Emergency services have rescued 15 people, including a one-year-old British girl called Sophie, as coast guard patrols are continuing the desperate search for the others who were on board the vessel that got into difficulty around 5am this morning off the village of Porticello, near Palermo.
It is understood that the boat sank during bad weather as a tornado hit Sicily and it was last tracked six hours ago off the coast. Divers have already reached the hull, 49 meters deep. Survivors have been taken to Porticciolo .
Are you in Sicily and have you seen the rescue operation? Let us know at [email protected]
The Italian fire service wrote at 10am local time on X: "#Palermo , shipwreck of vessel off the coast of Porticello, 15 people rescued, 7 reported missing: from dawn, divers from the #vigilidelfuoco engaged in the search. Wreck identified at 50 meters depth, speleo divers arriving."
It later stated 90 minutes later: "#Palermo , shipwreck of a vessel in Porticello: the lifeless body of a man was recovered by the #divers of the #vigilidelfuoco outside the wreck. The search operations continue with the coordination at sea of the @guardiacostiera."
On board there were mostly British passengers, but also a New Zealander, a Sri Lankan citizen, two Anglo-French and an Irishman. A helicopter is also looking for the vessel, which is called the "Bajesian", while the people who have been rescued are being cared for locally including the one-year-old child who has been taken to the Children's Hospital in Palermo as a precaution along with his mum who has superficial injuries.
The mayor of Bagheria, Filippo Maria Tripoli, wrote on Facebook : "This morning off the coast of Santa Flavia a foreign boat sunk due to bad weather, 15 people recovered and seven missing. Already all the police forces and emergency services are operational, our Red Cross volunteers are present and the availability of other civil protection associations of the territory has been asked, alerted by the regional civil protection department."
The one-year-old British girl called Sophie was remarkably rescued from the waves by her mum Charlotte. "For two seconds I lost my baby in the sea, then I immediately hugged her again amid the fury of the waves. I held her tightly, close to me, while the sea was stormy. Many were screaming. Luckily the lifeboat inflated and 11 of us managed to get on board," said Charlotte, reported Giornale di Sicilia.
Sophie was taken to the Children's Hospital in Palermo as a precaution, along with her mum who has superficial injuries - she was given chest stitches for a slight graze.
Sophie’s father was taken to the Civic Hospital while a further five people were being helped at an emergency centre in Bagheria. "They are all in a good condition ," said the head of the emergencies at the paediatric hospital, Domenico Cipolla: "We managed to get the parents to talk on the phone, with doctors and nurses all emotional especially with the little girl fine, the outlook is fine and we are carrying out tests only as a precaution."
But there have also been tragic reports of divers seeing "corpses through the portholes" from Salvo Cocina, the head of the Civil Protection of Sicily, speaking to Corriere della Sera . The boat went down in poor sailing conditions and it is reported that the captain, who has been badly shaken by the incident, will be interviewed by police. The vessel was in the port of Porticello and witness have said it was at anchor when it capsized in the bad weather.
Witnesses have said the vessel was still at anchor in front of the port of Porticello when the tornado struck and the storm broke the large sail mast which is believed to have led the boat to capsize. Another boat, also with its anchor down, nearby reportedly came to the rescue. An eerie photo taken just a few hours before the disaster shows the Bayesian calmly docked in the port.
"That vessel was all lit up," says a man in Porticello. "At around 4:30 in the morning it was gone. A beautiful vessel where there had been a party. A normal holiday day spent happily at sea turned into a tragedy. The vessel was not far from the port. It would have taken very little to raise the anchor and head for the port. Evidently they were surprised by the storm that suddenly hit and they were unable to avoid the sinking."
The Coast Guard and firefighters are continuing the search while at the request of the Bagheria Carabinieri Station Command, several volunteer organizations are also providing assistance. Many people have taken to social media to question why the boat set sail despite the weather warnings.
One person wrote on Facebook: "My God, let's hope they find them," another said: "Hopefully they can all be found, God help the civil protection and the law enforcement who are trying to locate them." But a person also questioned: "What the hell was this boat doing to us in the middle of the sea in a storm, after all the warnings of the weather?"
Another Facebook user has shared a photo of the boat taken last night. They wrote: "Last picture I took at 10:00 pm. The yacht on the left sunk at 4:05, caught in the middle of the hurricane 300 meters from the port of Porticello, next to another sailboat that provided rescue. It looks like there are 22 on board but unfortunately 7 missing, feared to be still in the hull. Unbelievable tragedy tonight. I'm out of words."
The Bayesian is an elegant 56-meter sailing boat with a gross tonnage of 473 tons, built by the Perini Navi Viareggio shipyard in February 2008, refitted in 2020, and designed for luxury travel. According to Vessel Finder, the boat arrived in Porticello after a stop in Milazzo and a passage in front of Cefalù.
A local fisherman has told how he saw the ship go down. "I was at home when the tornado hit. I immediately closed all the windows. Then I saw the boat, it had only one mast, it was very large. I saw it sink suddenly," said Pietro Asciutto, a fisherman from Porticello. "I think the tornado came from Porticello, shortly after I went down to the Bay of Santa Nicolicchia to get a better look at what was happening. The boat was still floating, then suddenly it disappeared. I saw it sink with my own eyes."
The Foreign Office told The Mirror : “We are in contact with the local authorities following an incident in Sicily, and stand ready to provide consular support to British nationals affected.”

Exiled russian oligarch’s 257’ superyacht amaryllis seen towed through palm beach.
The Amaryllis being towed past the former mansion of Henry Flagler, built in 1902
By John Jannarone and Alan Hatfield
The 257’ superyacht Amaryllis apparently owned by exiled Russian oligarch Andrey Borodin was towed past Palm Beach, FL on Friday morning, according to a visual account by CorpGov .
The yacht, whose owner is frequently cited as Mr. Borodin by enthusiast publications, moved slowly through the Lake Worth lagoon where bridges were raised for its passage. A towboat with flashing lights about 150 feet ahead pulled the Amaryllis , built by German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen in 2011.
While CorpGov could not officially confirm Mr. Borodin as the owner of the vessel, his wife, socialite Tatiana Korsakova, has posted dozens of Instagram photos and videos aboard the Amaryllis. A yacht broker interviewed by CorpGov confirmed that Ms. Korsakova is indeed aboard the Amaryllis in the photos and videos.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tatiana Korsakova (@tati_vk)
The sighting comes as billions of dollars in Russian-owned yachts have been seized around the world as a result of international sanctions. CNN has published an extensive list of seized vessels, which were taken in harbor cities including Mallorca, Spain and London.
However, it is unclear if the Amaryllis was being seized or voluntarily towed. Very large yachts often choose to be towed because bridges are required to raise for them, according to the yacht broker.
The former Bank of Moscow chief was granted political asylum in the UK in February 2013 after fleeing what he alleged to be politically-motivated fraud and embezzlement charges. Mr. Borodin would go on to be tried and convicted in abstentia in Russian Court in 2018, but not before managing to enlist a number of prominent American lawmakers to lobby Washington for a U.S. visa. Despite Russian extradition requests to the UK government, Borodin’s controversial attempts to make large donations to the NHS, and the uncovering of an assassination plot against his life, the fugitive banker remains overseas, having been granted access to his Swiss bank accounts and having made several notable London real estate purchases during his time in exile.
Mr. Borodin is widely listed as a billionaire, but his total wealth remains difficult to confirm accurately, with the governments of Switzerland and the Bahamas having been asked to help the Russian government in its legal case. In 2012, Borodin purchased the UK’s then-most expensive home, an 80-hectare 18th-century estate in Oxfordshire, for upwards of $217 million. In 2017 he was granted access to personal Swiss accounts holding a reported $378 million. The Amaryllis was purchased for a reported $120 million.
Mr. Borodin did not immediately respond to an emailed query from CorpGov , while the FBI declined to comment. An emailed query to The Department of Homeland Security was not returned.

1 killed, 6 missing as superyacht sinks off Sicilian coast, Italian officials say
A port official said he was unable to confirm whether an American was missing.
ROME and LONDON -- A 183-foot sailboat carrying 22 people sank early on Monday off the coast of the Italian island of Sicily following stormy weather in the area, killing at least one passenger, according to Italian officials.
Members of the coast guard have rescued 15 passengers, but six are still missing, according to the coast guard and a local port authority. At least one American is believed to be among those still missing, with British and Canadian citizens also unaccounted for, the coast guard said in a statement. Of those recovered, eight have been transported to local hospitals, officials said.
The U.K.-flagged vessel -- named the Bayesian -- sank off Porticello, near the coastal city of Palermo, the statement said. The ship is currently located at a depth of around 164 feet, with firefighter divers now attempting to reach it, the statement said.
One body was recovered and six people were missing, an authority from the Palermo Port Authorities told ABC News. Divers reached the hull of the ship early on Monday and were still searching the water, the official said.
The port official was unable to confirm whether any Americans were among the missing, as the coast guard's statement had said, but added that authorities were still working to verify the nationalities of those who had been on board. The official said the initial investigation into the passenger list appeared to show it was incomplete.
Four coast guard vessels, one helicopter and a team of fire brigade divers are involved in the search, which is being coordinated by the Palermo Coast Guard, the statement said.
Fabio La Bianca, who owns the local BAIA Santa Nicolicchia restaurant, told ABC News that he noticed the moored vessel had disappeared when he went to check on storm damage to his business.
"After half an hour with the other guys we realized that it was no longer there and immediately the rescuers were going around to look for the missing, they had also launched two distress rockets in the air before," La Bianca said.
Local Mayor Giuseppe D'Agostino wrote on Facebook that the “tragedy that struck our community is unparalleled in history.”
“The administration has activated all channels with the police and is taking care of the people recovered alive so far,” D'Agostino said, adding that local authorities are gathering clothes and finding accommodation for the survivors.
“The search continues at sea and all we can do is pray and hope to find someone alive.”
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

Italian authorities say Irish citizen among people on yacht that sank off Sicily in storm
LAST UPDATE | 26 mins ago
ITALIAN AUTHORITIES HAVE said that an Irish citizen is among 22 people onboard a British registered sailing boat which sank off Sicily this morning.
The sailboat, the Bayesian, was sailing in bad weather off the port of Porticello in the early hours of this morning when it capsized.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it is providing consular assistance to the Irish person involved.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the incident and is providing consular assistance. As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of any specific case,” the department said in a statement.
Italian firefighters on the island said that fifteen people were rescued from the sea and seven others are missing following the sinking of the 56-metre yacht.
“This morning around 5:00 am (4am Irish time), following a violent storm, a 56-metre yacht called Bayesian, flying the British flag, sand near Porticello,” the Italian coast guard said in a statement.
Four Britons, two Americans and one Canadian were missing.
The boat had 22 people aboard, including 10 crew members. Eight of those rescued were hospitalised.
Rescuers backed by helicopter were searching the waters near where the yacht rested on the seafloor some 50 metres below the surface.
Initial reports from some Italian media reports said that a waterspout, which roughly resembles a mini-tornado over a body of water, may have struck the vessel.
A sailboat believed to be carrying foreign tourists – including some from the UK – has capsized and sunk off the coast of Sicily in bad weather.
Luca Cari, a spokesman for the Italian fire rescue service, fifteen people were rescued from the 49-metre sailboat – but another seven were unaccounted for.
He said a helicopter and rescue boats from the coast guard and fire rescue service were at the scene searching for the missing, and divers had located the wreck at a depth of 50 metres.
Local media said a fierce storm, including water spouts, battered the area overnight.
The daily Il Giornale de Sicilia reported the sailboat was flying a British flag and had mostly British passengers on board, but also people form New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland and British-French citizens.
The Ansa news agency said the boat, which it said was named Bayesian, had been moored in the port at Porticello and had set sail on Sunday evening.
A statement has been requested from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
With reporting from PA and AFP.

- It is understood that divers have already dived to reach the hull, which lies at 49 metres of depth about half a mile from the coast.
- International media has reported that many of the passengers were British nationals. A representative from the Port Authority said: "At the moment, we are searching for six persons. They are different nationalities and we don't yet know".
- Another sailing vessel in the area, the 42-metre Sir Robert Baden Powell , is understood to have stepped in to offer assistance in the initial rescue.
