Book a private tuition course in your own boat or ours and have it adapted to your own needs while covering the Irish Sailing essential training elements. We allow a maximum of 3 people on a course. Ensuring quality tuition and optimum learning. Some boat owners opt for 1:1 and get their own personal training programme.

1 Day Course
Introduction to Powerboating
Your initial introduction to driving a powerboat, preparing you for the National Powerboat course or a confident crew.
2 Day Course
National Powerboat Certificate
You can apply for your motorboat ICC (International Certificate of Competency) with this qualification. Covering boat management in tight spaces, high speed, wind against tide docking, man-over-board, launch and recover and much more.
2 Day Course – 7 Hours per Module
Safety Boat Certificate
Fleet management, lee shore rescue, multi vessel rescue and much more. This course ensures you can manage your boat and be in greater control when the unexpected happens. A great way to fine tune your skills.
Intermediate Certificate
Learn to use your boat for general recreation use in fair weather conditions, during daylight hours and in familiar waters. Longer coastal passages, family day trips and activities such as swimming from the boat.
Private Tuition
Exclusive private tuition available at €650, tailored for 1-3 individuals, offering personalised courses for an enriched learning experience.

Our courses typically operate from 10 AM to 5 PM, providing a comprehensive learning experience throughout the day’s duration.
Certification Age
Minimum age for National Powerboat Certificate and higher certifications is 16 for vessels capable of planing under full load.

You will be trained and prepared for the role of Powerboat Instructor including being able to deliver ISA Introduction to Powerboating and ISA National Powerboat Certificate Courses in open power driven boats.
Course duration : 4 days
Pre requisites: Powerboat level 2 cert, submit a log of driving experience; VHF radio licence, 1st Aid, Safeguarding 1 and Pre entry cert, min age 19.

IS National Powerboat Certificate. Price. €375. Boat. 6.5m Excalibur RIB 120hp Mercruiser inboard diesel engine, 5.5 m Humber RIB 90hp Honda four stroke engine, 4m Narwhal RIB 15hp Honda four stroke engine. Length of Course. 2 days 10:00-17:00 (Usually Saturday and Sunday.) Summer evenings: 18:00 -22:00 x 3 evenings.
Course (Level 1+2) This course is aimed at those looking for a comprehensive and practical step-by-step guide to all that is power boating. From basic boat handling to coastal navigation, rope work and learning some of the International Regulations, this powerboat course covers all that you need to get power boating quickly, safely and confidently.
Courses take place at East Ferry Marina in Cobh. We also run courses at the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven. The Day: Two day powerboat courses usually run from 1000-1700 on Saturday and Sunday. In the summer months we run evening courses over 3 evenings. (1800 to 2200.)
The National Powerboat Scheme. The aim of this course is to provide a short practical introduction. Location. SailCork's base at East Ferry in Cork Harbour, P24D681 where there are waters suitable for powerboating in all weathers. Full facilities including a chartroom for briefings, changing rooms, easy access to the water for dinghies and marina for larger boats.

Shore-based Navigation courses from €250 pp In accordance with current Sporting Guidelines our Ratio is 1:3 That's one Instructor to three Participants, so just one boat per group, per weekend. For Individual skills training a day rate of €250 per day For Other Prices and more Info on all our other courses and services just get in touch.
The first day of the course ends with high speed exercises. On most of our courses the second day involves a day trip when we go exploring and employ our new skills and enjoy powerboating! Revision of exercises and high speed cruise around Cork Harbour (14-18 miles) Lunch is usually at a waterside tavern, a chance to chill and relax!

Assessment is continuous through the course with mid course debrief to ensure participents know their progression throughout the 5 days. The course is run by an ISA Powerboat Trainer with a one day moderation by a second Powerboat Trainer I.S.A.courses are run in I.S.A. Recognised Teaching Centres.
The aim of this course is to develop boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation skills up to the standards required to drive a planing powerboat safely by day in all coastal waters and by night in coastal waters with which you are familiar.
