Marina Bay Yacht Harbor

TRAILHEAD INFORMATION

The Richmond Marina provides access to the Richmond Shoreline and beyond, with sweeping views of the Bay Bridge, Brooks Island, San Francisco, and Angel Island in the distance. The Marina provides a protected launch and Marina Inner Harbor Basin provides an ideal location for paddling that is sheltered from the winds.

A concessionaire, 510 Waterline, offers SUP lessons and equipment rentals.

Boat Facilities

Boat launch facilities consist of an ADA low-freeboard dock with a kayak assist and two SUP handrails. The Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) constructed the ADA launch in 2018. This facility also includes a kayak staging area, ADA gangway, transition plates, and kayak roll-bars with a transfer system.

There is also a corrugated cement boat ramp and two high-freeboard docks for larger craft. The Marina offers public boat storage for $30/month for outside storage and $40/month for inside storage.

From I-580, take the Cutting Boulevard / Harbour Way South exit and turn onto Harbour Way South. Follow the round for approximately 1 mile then make a left onto Hall Avenue. The Marina is located at the end of Hall Avenue.

The 74 bus line stops at Regatta Boulevard and Marina Way, approximately 0.8 miles from the Marina.

Ample paid parking is available at the Marina. Currently parking is $10 for 24 hours or $20 for 48 hours, which can be paid at an electronic kiosk. There are also four free Public Shore parking spaces in the business park lot next to the marina.

ADA restrooms with running water are located near the top of the boat ramp.

Marina Bay provides a variety of nearby amenities including boat storage, a boat washdown area, restaurants, walking paths, benches, and restrooms.

Accessibility

The recently constructed kayak launch has been designed to meet ADA standards, with a wide gangway, transition plates, transfer seat, and paved path of  travel.

The shoreside facilities include a variety of accessible facilities, including a path of travel (not marked), sidewalks, restroom, and parking that all appear to be ADA accessible and well maintained.

Safety Tips

This launch is used primarily by motorized boats and can get crowded on weekends, so care needs to be taken to avoid user conflicts. Motorized boats and sailboats are regularly moving throughout the marina, particularly near the mouth of the marina. In addition, large ships utilize the Santa Fe Channel, located to the west of the Marina, so small non-motorized boats need to take caution to avoid these vessels.

There is a 300-foot security exclusion zone around the Chevron Long Wharf, located 3.5 miles northwest of the Marina.

The Harbormaster is onsite daily between 9AM and 5PM.

Wildlife Tips

Brooks Island is located approximately one mile offshore from the Marina. Brooks Island hosts 18 species of nesting birds, including herons, gulls, and terns. Brooks Island is also home to a secondary harbor seal haul-out site. Access to Brooks Island is only allowed seasonally on the western sandspit of the Island or as part of a scheduled East Bay Regional Park District naturalist tour. Trips to Brooks Island can be scheduled through EBRPD Reservations Department.

The Albany Mudflats Ecological Reserve / State Marine Park, an important feeding ground for a variety of shorebirds and waterfowl, is located approximately 2.5 miles to the southeast.  The Albany Mudflats are extremely shallow during high tides and large mudflats are  exposed at low tides. Due to the potential to get stranded and for sensitive habitat considerations, paddlers are not allowed to enter this area.

Secure Environment

The marina is a sheltered environment. Access to our well-lighted docks is controlled by electronic gates which allow the staff to monitor traffic coming into and out of the marina at all times. After hours shoreside security is provided by the common association.

Calm Waters

Marina Village Yacht Harbor is situated on the northern part of Alameda which protects the marina from tidal surge and westerly on-shore winds. This sheltered location provides a calm, relaxing environment while docked at the marina and reduces wear and tear on valuable vessels.

Free Parking

Ample free parking is available within close proximity to each of the marina’s four access gates. Parking lots are patrolled by the common association after hours.

Public Transportation

Free shuttle services to Oakland provided by Alameda Landing Express and services to San Francisco by San Francisco Bay Ferry , less than 10 minutes away from Marina Village Yacht Harbor.

Palafox Pier Yacht Harbor Marina is located in the heart of the Pensacola downtown waterfront. At the eastern end of Pensacola Bay's channel, the fifteen foot deep basin is a favorite for boaters. The marina is equipped with security gates, handicap-accessible ramps, docks, restrooms and showers. Other amenities on-site are fuel docks with non-Ethanol gas, diesel, oil, pump-out services and bagged ice for purchase. Within walking distance of historic Downtown, Jaco's Sunset Bar and Grille overlooking Pensacola Bay, Vince J. Whibbs Sr. Community Maritime Park - Home of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos baseball team, quaint shops and historic Pensacola Little Theatre, and much more, this marina is not to be missed.

A fall harvest supermoon put on a rare celestial show Tuesday when it also created a partial lunar eclipse for skygazers around the world.

The bright harvest supermoon — a full moon that happens around the autumnal equinox — entered Earth’s shadow around 10:13 p.m. ET, according to NASA , and peaked at its fullest at 10:35 p.m. ET, but will appear through Thursday morning.

The eclipse reached its darkest phase around 10:44 p.m. ET when the full moon was partially covered by the umbra, which is the Earth’s darkest shadow. NASA said the spectacle looks like the shadow is taking “a bite out” of part of the moon. The moon exited the Earth’s shadow at 11:16 p.m. ET.

The harvest moon usually happens around Sept. 22 or 23 each year . Supermoons occur three to four times a year and appear up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter at its closest point to Earth than when it’s farthest away from Earth. People can also view partial lunar eclipses at least twice a year. But seeing all three celestial events together is rare .

The rare sky show was visible over much of North and South America, as well as Asia, Africa and Europe.

The next lunar eclipse — a total lunar eclipse — is set to take place March 13-14, 2025, according to Space.com .
