The Sunreef 50 offers an incredible 167 m2 of space. The vast saloon opens onto both the forward sundeck and the aft cockpit, which offers a table for 8 guests and extends to the hydraulic bathing platform. The flybridge houses a large dining table, bar and sunbathing areas. Tiril has 4 double VIP cabins, a cabin with 2 bunk beds and a crew cabin. The level of finish and comfort is that of a luxury yacht, and it's the only catamaran of this size to offer such a high standard. It is therefore ideal for a family looking for a luxurious vacation without the constraints of a 65-foot or larger boat.

The layout guarantees real privacy for everyone, while the outdoor areas, especially the hydraulic platform, are the perfect starting points for water sports. Tiril is equipped with a compressor, scuba tanks and a foiling board. The large dinghy with its 50 hp engine ensures fast transfers and safe water sports.

The interior features top-quality crockery and cutlery, a galley fitted with top-of-the-range equipment (4-burner electric hob, electric dishwasher and oven, large upright fridge, microwave...), luxurious bedding, top-quality upholstery, Denon sound system, large TV screen, Venetian blinds, beautiful woodwork, plenty of discreet storage space, air conditioning...

The flybridge helm station houses all the navigation equipment, and the electric winches are within easy reach of the skipper. The forward-facing navigation station in the saloon allows you to monitor the boat's position and technical data, with quick access to the outside via the solid front watertight door.

The Sunreef 50 ECO is a unique catamaran, offering a high level of comfort, space and finish and with a revolutionary electric propulsion system. There is currently a 2-year waiting list for orders for a new Sunreef 50. Tiril is available immediately, European VAT is paid and is financed by a transferable LOA with a down payment of around 600k euros.

Sunreef are famous for producing big, sleek, luxurious sailing and power cats – welcome to the “Baby” of the range: the Sunreef 50.

This yacht from the Polish superyacht builder is a clever move to appeal to sailing couples looking to sail oceans—or head to their favourite cruising grounds—without the need for a crew. They are targeting a similar market to Privilege.

This 50 footer has all the high end spec and design of their larger yachts such as the generous use of teak, luxurious cabins and opulent master suite. You can extend the aft cockpit with a hydraulic platform if you want, or head up to the wet bar and sun beds on the fly-bridge. It’s a fully customisable, top end luxury catamaran.

They call this the Compact Luxury Catamaran. She features many of the characteristics of her larger 60 and 80 ft sisters in 2 50ft hulls and you can sail her without crew. Think of the cash you’ll save!

It’s what Sunreef is all about isn’t it? Pure luxury at anchor and the 50 doesn’t disappoint.

The amount of space you get on the new 50 has to be seen to be believed. Even though this is the Baby of the range, this is by no means a cramped boat by anyone’s definition: Sunreef have used the available footprint cleverly. The saloon is a bit of a Tardis and it spills seamlessly onto the aft cabin with its alfresco dining area and wet bar. Steps lead directly onto a sumptious fly-bridge with lots of seating and lounging areas and the helm of course.

Forward, you can also access the forward cockpit (a feature well developed in Leopard Catamarans), but as you would expect this area is somewhat more luxurious on a Sunreef 50.

In the hulls especially, you will need to get your drawing board out and work with the designers from Poland as this is where much of the customisation takes place. The #1 hull was designed for cruising around the world, so the owner went for a huge master suite, office and bathroom in one hull with guest cabins in the other. This is where the quality of the finish and the sheer available space make these boats stand out compared to yachts of a similar length. Other options include a 5 cabin version with room for crew.

With all this comfort, there has to be a trade off of course, and that is sailing performance as Sunreef catamarans are not the lightest on the market. These boats are all about luxury at anchor and getting you where you need to go in a reasonable time safely. But you are not going to be winning any races at the Voiles de Saint Barth. And to be fair, Sunreef have never claimed otherwise.

Having said that, on the 50, the boat has been set up for short-handed sailing and with the lightwind sails in your sailing locker you should move nicely along in a breeze. With electric winches and furlers and everything working properly, you should be able to handle this boat with one decent deck hand. If you were off on a long voyage though, that high boom height would worry me (problems with reefing lines anyone?), and the exposed helm position is obviously not ideal in 35 knots of wind in a big sea while you are trying to keep a close eye on everyone else on the boat. I think at the very least you’d need to make sure that you had plenty of back-up systems on board to minimise risk.

They will be launching an Amber version – a limited edition model that will come with a carbon mast and boom – that is specifically targeting worldwide cruisers. That should get the weight down and the speed up considerably.

Sunreef Summary

Most people who buy a Sunreef won’t be sailing around Cape Horn. They’ll be wanting to cruise safely at 8 knots on a reach to their favourite anchorage where they’ll probably be the most luxurious boat in the bay. And on this count, the Sunreef 50 delivers.

Our trip took place out of Cannes, in the South of France, in zero wind - it could be summed up as a simple presentation of the boat afloat... but we had the chance to hear the precious testimonies of Christian Braun and Jean-Marc Le Goueff. The former is the owner of Paz, the Sunreef 50 seen here. At the time of writing, he’d logged nearly 4,300 miles on board. The latter is a professional delivery skipper: last winter he delivered a 50 from Gdańsk to Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Charter fee generally only covers the hire of the yacht and crew, while all other expenses (Croatian tax, requested supplies, port, mooring and other legal charges and fees, diesel and fuel, crew gratuities, extras that depend on guest particular request for services, itinerary, food, beverages etc) are charged extra in addition to the charter fee. These additional expenses are covered by the Advance Provisioning Allowance – APA. The APA is usually equivalent to 30% of the total charter fee but maybe 35% in some cases (if the yacht burns a lot of fuel or if you intend to do more than 4 hours of cruising per day). Captain will keep an accurate record of spending and at the end of the charter, the guest will be refunded or asked to pay the difference if additional operating costs are incurred.

The client, a valued repeat customer, was initially invited to the Cannes Yachting Festival by Francis Lapp, the CEO of Sunreef Yachts, in response to the unfortunate loss of their Sunreef 62 yacht, Catsy, during the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in the Americas.

Fueled by a passionate interest in eco-technology, the owner’s initial intention to commission a new 50′ catamaran swiftly evolved into a profound enthusiasm for the development of Sunreef’s new eco-conscious yacht range. The $1.7 million Sunreef 50 Eco redefines modern yachting with a unique blend of spaciousness, impressive sailing performance, and personalized interior design focused on comfort and sustainability. This extraordinary electric catamaran boasts silent propulsion, cutting-edge ultralight batteries, and an advanced photovoltaic system.

Innovative technology developed by the shipyard’s R&D office allows for the integration of 67m² of solar panels across the mast, boom, hulls, superstructure, and bimini. Paired with twin electric engines, the Sunreef 50 Eco not only provides efficient sailing but also generates clean energy through its propellers’ rotation.
