This fair stands out as an annual milestone that attracts the attention of enthusiasts and professionals in nautical. From Motyvel Group , key players in the sale of luxury boats since 1984, this event is not only a celebration of the nautical industry but also a platform that reflects the evolution and innovation in navigation.

In this article, we will explore the magic that surrounds the Palma International Boat Show from the perspective of Motyvel Group , whose experience and dedication have significantly contributed to the nautical scene in Spain.

As this emblematic event has been opening its doors year after year- reaching its fortieth anniversary – it is essential to explore the synergy between Motyvel Group and the Palma International Boat Show, a perfect marriage between the excellence in the offer of boats and the grandeur of an event that sets trends in the maritime boat industry.

What is the Palma International Boat Show?

The Palma International Boat Show is a world-renowned nautical event, rooted in the vision of consolidating the city of Palma de Mallorca as a reference in the international nautical industry, among other reasons, for this city’s connection with the nautical world. The combination of the beauty of the Balearic Islands, the port infrastructure, and the region’s relevance in the maritime field has made the Palma International Boat Show thrive and consolidate over the years. Its first edition took place 40 years ago, when the city of Palma de Mallorca decided to establish this event to promote its maritime resources and attract the attention of the naval industry worldwide. Since then, it has evolved to become one of the most outstanding nautical salons in the Mediterranean.

Its history reflects not only the evolution of the nautical industry but also Palma’s commitment to being a key destination in this sector.

Its long history reflects the crucial role this event has played in promoting nautical tourism and boosting the economy of the Balearic Islands. By bringing together professionals, enthusiasts, and companies related to the marine world, the Palma International Boat Show has earned the reputation of being a must-attend event for those seeking the latest in navigation and maritime lifestyle.

The Palma International Boat Show turns 40 years old

This year 2024 will be immersed in an extraordinary celebration, as its next edition will commemorate its fortieth anniversary. This milestone marks four decades of dedication to the nautical world, consolidating it as one of the oldest and most prestigious events in the sector. The organization of the fair, led by the Institute of Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI) and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA), has prepared various activities to pay tribute to this special anniversary. Among them stands out the recovery of the Night of the Sea, focused on the 40 years, an occasion to remember and celebrate the history and evolution of the event.

In addition, tributes are planned for the exhibitors who have trusted the fair over these 40 years, contributing to the continuous growth and success of the event. These commemorative actions reinforce the commitment of the organization with those who have been a fundamental part of the trajectory of the Palma International Boat Show.

The motto of the fortieth anniversary, “40 years full sail,” evokes the energy and dedication that has driven the fair during these decades. And to star and be the image of the anniversary, the chosen one has been Nico Martínez, a renowned nautical professional and award-winning photographer. This anniversary is not only a retrospective celebration, but a testimony of the lasting impact that the Palma International Boat Show has had on the nautical industry and the Balearic Islands region.

This anniversary, in addition, the event puts sustainability at the center as a key focus, highlighting sailing and electric and solar boats, thus consolidating its key role in the development and support of innovation and sustainability for nautical companies.

Your guide to the Palma International Boat Show

The Palma show kicks off the Mediterranean yacht show calendar

Organised by the Business Innovation Institute of the Balearic Islands, the Palma International Boat Show draws the crowds for its location as much as the yachts. Palma de Mallorca is one of the most visited islands in Europe, prized for its delectable tapas, luxury lifestyle and blended culture. The boat show brings together boatbuilders, nautical equipment suppliers, toys and accessories manufacturers and a host of international brands from the yachting industry.

What is the Palma International Boat Show?

Hosted at Marina Moll Vell, the show is right next to Palma's picturesque old town

Widely considered to be the inaugural event of the Mediterranean nautical season, the Palma International Boat Show is a four-day event where motor yachts, sailing yachts, accessories suppliers and everything else in between gather. Over 600 mega yachts sized 24m+ from the international brokerage and charter market are on display in the Superyacht Village showcasing anything from the latest advancements in sail design to next-level marine electronics.

Where can I get tickets?

Our Brokerage team will be on hand for yacht tours and to answer any questions you may have

Tickets for the event can be bought online in advance at the official show website. Flexible in its arrangements, visitors can purchase day tickets or a four-day pass which offers a small discount. There is no minimum age for entry, but masks remain a requirement.

When is the Palma International Boat Show?

Blue skies and a warm ocean breeze, Palma is always a popular show

The 2023 Palma International Boat Show will take place between 27-30 April, from 10.00 until 20.00 each day. It’s held during the summertime and sailing regatta season, and there are often many siestas and celebrations that visitors can take part in that offer an authentic slice of Balearic life.

Where is the Palma International Boat Show?

The Cathedral of Santa Maria, or Le Seu for short, provides a picturesque background for the show

Palma, the island of Majorca’s capital city, is a major seaport forming part of the Balearic Islands archipelago. It’s famed for La Seu, a vast cathedral built on a previous mosque, which was built atop an original Christian church. Decorating Palma’s seaside promenade with a litany of superyachts, the Palma International Boat Show takes place in Marina Moll Vell, one of three superyacht marinas in the area. It’s strategically placed at the edge of Palma Old Town, virtually opposite the cathedral, and has 80 berths up to 45m in length and a draught of 5m.

What else can I do near the Palma International Boat Show?

Just to the west of Le Seu is the Royal Palace of La Almudaina

Yacht owners and visitors looking to enjoy Palma’s Balearic beats can drink in the many Gothic landmarks that hark back to the 13th century, as well as a plethora of blended architecture from the city’s Roman, Byzantine and Muslim periods. These include the Almudaina, a Moorish-style Arab fortress converted to a royal residence, and west of the city, hilltop Bellver Castle is a medieval fortress with a distinctive circular shape.

Visit Llotja de Palma

Twisted columns support a vaulted ceiling inside the Llotja de Palma

Situated on Carrier de la Llotja next to the waterfront and not far from the Plaça de la Drassana, the Llotja de Palma is a 15th-century guild building recognised by its twin octagonal towers and an angel over the door. The Gothic landmark appears half-castle, half-church, but was designed by architect Guillem Sagrera as the city's exchange at the height of Mallorca’s maritime history. It was later used for storage during the War of Independence and a fine art gallery. Today, it is a cultural centre, hosting temporary exhibitions.

Explore Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca

The Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, more commonly referred to as La Seu, is a Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral. Built from golden sandstone it’s perched high on Palma's old city walls. The picturesque town of Santa Maria del Cami, known by the locals as just Santa Maria, sits in Majorca's central flat plain, in one of the island's most prominent wine growing regions. La Seu is the most emblematic building in Palma, and a popular meeting point.

Take time out in Plaça Major

At the heart of the city, the Plaça Major bustles with markets, bars and eateries

As Palma’s main square (though rectangular in shape), the Plaça Major is a natural hub of socialising. The large, longitudinal square is built on the site of the San Felipe Nerí Convent and is surrounded by traditional yellow buildings with green shutters. It enjoys frequent outdoor craft markets, and its many shops and cafes make the ideal place to while away a few hours enjoying the local fare and quaffing chilled rose.

Palma International Boat Show: Here’s why you need to visit Mallorca this April

Palma, the capital of Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, has a lot to offer during the month of April. Aside from sun-soaked highs of 20°C and long stretches of largely untouched beaches, the Spanish island also plays host to one of the biggest and buzziest boat shows in the yachting calendar. The Palma International Boat Show is held at Moll Vell, the island’s largest and best-equipped marina, and will bring a huge selection of luxury yachts, speedy tenders and cutting-edge racing sailboats together.

Returning from April 27 to 30, 2023, the four-day show marks the kick-off to the summer season in the Mediterranean, with boat enthusiasts and professionals from around the world coming together to network, learn and see what the industry has to offer.

With the list of exhibiting yachts and companies constantly expanding, this year’s edition is set to top 2022’s figures, which saw 276 participating businesses and 264 boats on display. So far, more than 300 companies are confirmed to attend and the yachts scheduled to be on show include the 30.5-metre Wally Love, 42-metre Flying Manta, 33.7-metre Adytum , 32-metre Idle , 50-metre AAA , 40-metre Naema and many more.

Placed against the beautiful backdrop of the Palma Cathedral, the exhibiting toys, tenders and yachts are all for sale or for charter and showcase the very best and latest in yacht design, technology, and innovation.

As well as having the opportunity to view a huge variety of vessels in one place attendees can enjoy food, music, drinks and various water sports and activities as part of the agenda.

For the first time, the show will also host the Innovation Corner. Supported by Yachting Ventures, the space will be used to encourage dialogue between start-up companies and wider industry professionals to support the future of yachting.

In the days surrounding the show, there is plenty to see in and outside of Palma on the island of Mallorca . Visitors can take the time to indulge in the likes of Palma’s old town, with its charming winding streets and historic buildings. The many beaches on the island are often quiet, scenic and the perfect place to take a time out – as are the island’s other most prominent landmarks: the Royal Palace of La Almudaina and the Bellver Castle. With so many local restaurants and bikes and boats to rent, a few extra days spent discovering Mallorca is a welcome choice.

Start planning your trip to Mallorca today. For more information on the show and to purchase tickets , visit the website directly here.

Palma Superyacht Show set for June

Palma de mallorca is the perfect setting for the first european yacht show since 2020….

Image for article Palma Superyacht Show set for June

Taking place from 3-6 June 2021, the Palma Superyacht Show promises to bring the industry back together after a challenging period, characterised for many by social distancing, Zoom meetings and working from home.

A well-established superyacht hub and year-round yachting destination, Palma de Mallorca is known for its plentiful cruising options, as well as quality service and refit infrastructure. These elements, combined with its vibrant city centre, make Palma an ideal location for a yacht show, and are the key reasons why the Palma Superyacht Show has gone from strength to strength since its inception, having built a reputation as one of the most-enjoyable events in the superyacht industry’s calendar.

It is no surprise then that the vast majority of the show’s regular exhibitors are raring to return for the 2021 edition, including show veterans Astilleros de Mallorca, the IPM Group, Nautipaints, and Port Adriano. And some exciting yachts have already signed up, including 51m schooner Borkumriff IV, 35m motoryacht Il Gattopardo and 31m Wally Alexia. There will also be a number of first-time exhibitors at the event.

The show will be the first that many in the industry have attended in over a year and, as such, there is swelling anticipation from both exhibitors and visitors alike. Pat Bullock, managing director of Network Marine Consultants, who will be exhibiting as usual, comments; “Network is proud to have been present from the first year of the Palma Superyacht Show. Fast forward several years, and thanks to its steadily increasing success and the backing of the local government, we are the first show in the Mediterranean to be relaunched.”

As a small island, Mallorca currently has some of the lowest numbers of COVID-19 cases in Spain and organisers of the show are working closely with the Balearic government to ensure that the event goes ahead safely and all attendees can enjoy the event without having to worry about their health and wellbeing. Part of their strategy includes having a COVID-19 protocol in place ahead of the event, which will be adapted to the specific restrictions at the time.

palma de mallorca yacht show

Wednesday September 6, 2023

The next edition of the palma international boat show will take place from 25th to 28th april 2024.

The next edition of the Palma International Boat Show will take place from 25th to 28th April 2024 in Palma’s Moll Vell, and will once again inaugurate the Mediterranean nautical season. The show is organised by the Institute for Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI), an entity dependent on the Regional Ministry of Enterprise, Employment and Energy, and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).

The event has a very complete offer including everything from all kinds of new boats to nautical products and equipment, as well as services, marinas and marinas. Special mention should be made of the Palma Superyacht Village, a section specially designed for boats over 24 metres in length, both sailing and motorboats, and which also includes an area specialising in boat repair and maintenance, known as refit & repair, in which the leading companies in the nautical industry take part.

The Palma International Boat Show has established itself as one of the essential fairs at the start of the nautical season. This is borne out by the participation figures of recent editions. In 2023, the fair had 271 participating companies and some 600 boats on display, more than 250 at sea, spread over an 81,000-square-metre exhibition site. It was also the setting for the presentation of new boat models and products on a global scale, as well as becoming the nerve centre of the sector for four days.

The last edition was characterised by a very full agenda of events, such as activities to promote training and employment in the nautical sector. In addition, the Palma Superyacht Village area hosted the Innovation Corner, a space dedicated to emerging companies focused on innovation in the nautical world, especially with digitalisation and sustainability solutions.

The marketing work for the next edition of the show is scheduled to begin in September.

PALMA SUPERYACHT VILLAGE

Palma Superyacht Village, previously known as the Palma Superyacht Show, is an integral part of the  Palma International Boat Show (PIBS), the opening event of the Mediterranean yachting season, taking place from the 25th to 28th of April 2024. It is one of the few industry-owned and operated yacht shows aimed to bring the visitor closer to yachting and offer any services a yacht owner might require, provided by trusted and well-established companies, in a relaxed but professional atmosphere.

Whereas PIBS is the hub for the latest shipyard presentations and services related to yachts under 24 m, Palma Superyacht Village displays a selection of superyachts above 24 m for sale and charter, as well as hosts an exhibition of nautical services available to superyachts. Within the dock-side exhibition there is also a separate area dedicated to Refit & Repair, representing the many specialist companies that make the Balearic Islands one of the world´s leading destinations for refit and maintenance of boats.

Because of this, our islands have the necessary infrastructure to carry out repair and maintenance work on both small and large boats. In fact in Palma alone, more than 1000 projects a year are carried out on boats over 24 m, according to the data collected by the Balearic Marine Cluster

The exhibition is located in the Moll Vell area in the heart of Palma de Mallorca, right in front of the majestuous, landmark cathedral of Palma and the bustling old town with its restaurants, outdoor cafes and quirky boutiques. With its laid back, uncomplicated and fun atmosphere, the Palma Superyacht Village is the perfect place to discover yachting.

Monaco Yacht Show 2024: The Biggest, Boldest and Most Expensive Superyachts To See

Even in its 33rd year, Monaco Yacht Show continues to break its own milestones.

By Ellys Woodhouse and Toby Louch

palma de mallorca yacht show

The principality of Monaco has a calendar that’s filled with major events. While the financial benefits of this little tax haven ensure its population remains fairly well stocked with super-rich and socialites year-round, it’s these events that truly bring the masses. April calls for the tennis at The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters; in May it’s time for the Formula One Grand Prix ; June brings the world-famous car show Top Marques ; and summer draws to a close with perhaps the most glam of the bunch, the Monaco Yacht Show, which this year falls on September 25 – 28.

For those interested in gazing upon some of the finest yachts that can be found anywhere in the world, Monaco ’s Port Hercules is a pretty good spot year-round, but for the weekend of the Monaco Yacht Show, things enter a different league.

The Monaco Yacht Show is essentially a gathering of the global superyacht community. From owners to innovators, manufacturers and brokers, all head to the principality. Each year, builders and brokers present around 120 superyachts and 60 luxury tenders , with many of these reflecting current industry trends and revealing the potential future direction of the industry. These vessels boast an average length of around 160 ft, with a sprinkling of superyachts that top the 320 ft mark – with this year’s headliner clocking in at 400 ft.

Aside from the yachts themselves, visitors can expect countless designers improving yacht interiors and engineers working to ensure the industry becomes more sustainable. There’s sure to be a lot going on.

So ahead of this year’s event, Elite Traveler has looked into which yachts will be on display at Port Hercules and curated a list of some of the show’s unmissable vessels. So blow the dust off your Panama hat and add a few zeros to your credit card limit, because these are some of the biggest, boldest and most expensive boats attending the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show.

The undisputed biggest headline of this year’s show – in every sense of the word – Lürssen’s Kismet will be the largest yacht to go on display in Port Hercules. While the previous title holder was another from Lürssen, the 377.6-ft Ahpo, the Kismet takes its victory by a considerable mile, clocking in at 400 ft. Previously known as Project Jag, the Kisamet was handed over to owner Shahid Khan in May 2024, making it one of the show’s newest deliveries, too.

With exterior design by Nuvolari Lenard and naval architecture by Lürssen Yachts along with Reymond Langton Design working on the yacht’s interiors , Kismet is decked out with a helipad, beauty salon, indoor and outdoor cinema, dance floor and gym. Perhaps unsurprising, but all this makes Kisamet one of the most expensive yachts to charter , too, asking for €3m (approx. $3.4m) per week with Cecil Wright & Partners.

Why Northeastern Spain is the Finest Family Destination

Delivered in 2019 by SilverYachts and refitted in 2024, the almost 280-ft, self-described ‘sports activity vessel’ Bold takes center stage at Monaco Yacht Show 2024. Designers Espen Øino created the superyacht’s striking, military-inspired exterior, creating a unique glass-enclosed loft on the upper deck that covers over 3,200 sq-ft of interior space. Meanwhile, Vain Interiors has created an opulent, New York-style loft, which is built to accommodate up to 12 overnight guests in eight luxurious staterooms and can carry up to 96 passengers while cruising.

With a a huge selection of water toys, a vast outdoor entertaining area with a bar and Teppanyaki grill, a cinema, an eight-person hot tub and a lounge surrounding a firepit, it’s no surprise that the Bold is a popular charter yacht, with Holl Robinson asking €875,000 ($972, 800) per week.

Following an extensive, three-year rebuild, the most expensive superyacht on the market has returned to Port Hercules for 2024, complete with a new look – and price tag, too, asking for €295m ($328m). The 344.5-ft Oceanco H3 superyacht has already picked up a handful of international awards for the new look and is expected to impress many fans at Monaco Yacht Show 2024.

In addition to the extra 10 meters that were added to the H3 ’s hull, the rebuild – from the likes of Reymond Langton Design, which worked on both the exterior and interior redesign, and the collaboration between Lateral Naval Architects and Oceanco on its naval architecture – also saw a pool deck, huge spa and wellness area and climate-controlled winter garden added to H3 ’s numerous amenities.

With its distinctive, shark-like exterior design, the 295-ft superyacht DAR will be hard not to miss at Monaco Yacht Show 2024. Built by Oceanco with exteriors designed by Luiz de Basto Design, the glossy black silhouette was inspired by the look of the hammerhead shark, with sinuous lines, wide set wing stations and a mast modeled after a dorsal fin.

Meanwhile, renowned Italy-based studio Nuvolari & Lenard has crafted swooping, contemporary interiors. Despite only hitting the waters in June this year, the first wallywind110, Galma , is set to make its global debut at Monaco Yacht Show 2024. Measuring almost 110 ft, Galma ’s naval architecture comes from German studio judel/vrolijk & co while interior and exterior lines are designed by Wally in collaboration with Santa Maria Magnolfi. With a design that offers the comfort of a cruising yacht while maintaining the performance of a racing boat, Galma is characterized by the 22.6-ft telescopic keel and an all-carbon hull that has been painted in light metallic blue.

Other highlights of Galma include an 860-sq-ft full-beam cockpit with seating and dining for up to 15 people, as well as an open-plan raised saloon. Galma can accommodate up to eight guests overnight, with five crew members.
