Shovel Knight Dig: How Long to Beat

8 action rpgs worth playing just for their combat, assassin’s creed shadows fans aren't happy with a returning mechanic, key takeaways.

  • Yacht Club Games unveils a new Shovel Knight project, promising groundbreaking gameplay and a bold adventure for fans.
  • Fans speculate on the new release, with hints from logo changes suggesting a possible 3D direction for the game.
  • Shovel Knight Dig and Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon receive new DLC, and sales are announced on various platforms.

Yacht Club Games has announced a brand-new project in the Shovel Knight franchise. Fans have long-anticipated a new mainline Shovel Knight game. There have been various DLC expansions to the game, and even new spin-off titles, such as Shovel Knight Dig. However , fans of Yacht Club Games have been wondering what's next for the company and hoping for a release that further iterates on the Shovel Knight formula.

In the meantime, Yacht Club Games has been busy at work. Shovel Knight Dig expanded on the lore of the series and allowed players to see the action hero in a different visual style. The upcoming release Mina the Hollower signals that the company intends to continue making games that utilize retro esthetics similarly to Shovel Knight while providing a new character, story, and style of gameplay.

While it is possible to beat Shovel Knight Dig fairly quickly, there are several ways that players can extend their time with the game.

Yacht Club Games has officially announced work on a new Shovel Knight project. It was emphasized during the June 14 Yacht Club Games Presents that this release will not be a sequel, rather, a step in a different direction for the Shovel Knight franchise . This has led to a resulting wave of speculation and excitement on social media. The indie developer promises its fans that the new release will offer "groundbreaking, innovative gameplay," and be a "bold new adventure." Attentive fans have been pointing to the change in the company's logo as the biggest hint for what may come next.

Yacht Club Games Announces New Shovel Knight Project

Yacht Club Games has set somewhat of a precedent when it comes to logo changes. When playing Shovel Knight , gamers are treated to a pixelated version of the company logo. Usually the Yacht Club Games logo appears in a flat 2d design, and the company has changed its logo on April Fools to a smiling version of their yacht. During the Yacht Club Games Presents , a redesign of the logo was shown off and given a 360-degree view. The Yacht Club Games logo having characteristics of polygons in classic 3D games has led Shovel Knight fans to predict that the game will be a 3D release in the same vein as Mario 64 , which would make sense, considering the respect and homage that the Shovel Knight series often pays to the legacy of gaming.

In addition, Yacht Club games has made plenty of other announcements. Shovel Knight Dig and Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon are both receiving new DLC, along with sales that will take place from June 17-27 on Steam and June 14-27 on Switch. A PlayStation sale is to be announced at a later date. Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope will have sales from June 14-27 on Switch, Humble, and GOG, and June 17-27 on Steam, with PlayStation and Xbox sales coming later. An enhanced version of this release called Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX has also been announced.

Shovel Knight might be bouncing into 3D. Developer Yacht Club Games just announced a new mainline game in the hit series that started as a retro-inspired 2D platformer, and the studio says this new game will “launch Shovel Knight into an entirely new dimension of gaming,” according to a blog post .

If that wasn’t enough of a clue about the move to 3D, the Yacht Club Games’ Friday livestream celebrating the 10th anniversary of Shovel Knight featured an even more pointed hint: a 3D version of the Yacht Club Games logo.

The studio is staying mum about many specifics — there’s no release window — but did tease that “the game will bring electrifying action, richer mechanics, and all the timeless charm you expect from a Shovel Knight title.”

  • Shovel Knight’s new expansions are great for fans, but they won’t sell you on the series
  • Watch a team of blacksmiths make Shovel Knight’s iconic weapon
  • The Nintendo Switch could be the perfect indie machine

While you wait for that new game, Yacht Club Games will have a lot of new things you can play. The studio also announced Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX , the “definitive edition” of the original Shovel Knight title that adds things like online multiplayer, stereoscopic 3D, a rewind power, in-game cheats, and the ability to play as 20 different Shovel Knight characters. Yacht Club Games says the game is “coming soon.” Shovel Knight Dig and Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon are also getting free DLC this summer.

The developer also shared new footage of Mina the Hollower , its upcoming game that looks to be heavily inspired by the Game Boy classic The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Mina also has a vague “coming soon” launch date, and I look forward to a more specific release window — the game looks fantastic.

Shovel Knight developers’ next game is a Zelda-like you play as a mouse

Mina the Hollower is inspired by the Game Boy Color era

by Ana Diaz

Ana Diaz

Yacht Club Games, the developer behind the Shovel Knight series , announced its next game at the Yacht Club Games Presents stream on Tuesday. The studio’s next title will be an original adventure inspired by the Game Boy Color. It’s called Mina the Hollower.

The game is still early in development, Yacht Club said, and the studio is seeking funding through a Kickstarter campaign that’s live now. “We want your feedback, collaboration, and support in making Mina the Hollower the best game it can possibly be,” the developers said.

The developers released a trailer alongside its Mina the Hollower reveal. In the game, you play as Mina, a mouse who fights her way through various dungeons using a whip and other items. Like Shovel Knight , Mina features an 8-bit art style — the game’s visuals look a lot like a souped-up version of the Game Boy Color game The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening from 1993. The Kickstarter page says that the team plans create a game that runs in “smooth 60 [frames-per-second] action combat.”

Yacht Club released the indie darling Shovel Knight in 2014 after a successful crowdfunding campaign. Since then, the iconic shovel-wielding knight has gone on to inspire a series of spinoffs games and sequels, and even get cameos in games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate . The team announced its other upcoming title, Shovel Knight Dig , in 2019. Yacht Club’s most recently released game, Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon , was released in 2021 across multiple platforms.

Yacht Club Games Confirms Shovel Knight Is Getting A New Game

Shovel Knight Yacht Club Games

When Yacht Club Games first introduced Shovel Knight into the world via Kickstarter, no one could’ve predicted that it would be the title that it became. It was simply supposed to be an 8-bit platformer like the games of old, and yet with some new characters and flair. However, once people played it, they loved it. Soon, the title was ported to all sorts of systems, got DLC, sequels, spinoffs, cameos in other games, etc. The developer made games since then, but their titular OG hero has always been special.

Fast forward to now, and Yacht Club Games did a special 10th-anniversary presentation where they announced a NEW Shovel Knight game was in the works! Just as important, it would be a FRESH game in the series that they tease might even be 3D in nature. While they didn’t show any footage or logos, they did tease that past games have clues about what’s coming. So, if you have Treasure Trove, Dig, or some of the other games, give them another playthrough and see if you can guess what’s coming!

shovel knight

Yacht Club Games officially premiered a new presentation earlier today, which was heavily focused on Shovel Knight to celebrate the franchise’s 10th anniversary. Many things were announced, including an enhanced version of the original Shovel Knight , but the final announcement of the presentation was the biggest one of all.

Yacht Club Games ended the presentation by announcing that a brand new Shovel Knight game is currently in development. The company says that the game is not a sequel, but “a bold new adventure that will launch Shovel Knight into an entirely new dimension of gaming”. It will “honor the legacy” of Shovel Knight, but also provide “groundbreaking, innovating gameplay mechanics”.

Lastly, the game will have “electrifying action, richer mechanics, and all the timeless charm you expect from a Shovel Knight title”. There is no release date at this time, and availability on platforms such as the Nintendo Switch isn’t known at this time. For now, Yacht Club Games recommends players play previous games in the franchise because they all have “hidden details” relating to the new game.

Shovel Knight 64 probably.

I’m more excited for Mina the Hollower

' src=

Mina looks cool and fun. It’s a bit exciting to think that a 3D Shovel Knight is on the way, but since they didn’t show anything definitive about it I can understand the lack of hype. Mina at least has an entire demo out, and it’s already looking like a great game. Can’t wait for it

There’s a demo? Is it public or just for the kickstarter backers?

Oh, actually I don’t know. I know that a few streamers and lets players got to try it out, but I never played it myself.

You’re probably right about it being for backers only :/

' src=

Did that SK puzzle game thing ever come out?

' src=

You mean Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon? It released on December 13, 2021: https://shovelknight.fandom.com/wiki/Shovel_Knight_Pocket_Dungeon

Is Shovel Knight Dig worth it? I’m not too big on roguelikes, but there are a few I’ve had some fun with. I really liked the original Shovel Knight games, but was originally turned away from Dig when I heard it was Roguelike

' src=

I found it a little disappointing but I think I’ve been too spoiled by Dead Cells and Hades in terms of rogue likes. Dig just got really repetitive to me real quick. The gameplay itself is fun but there isn’t enough variety early on to keep it fresh and interesting imo.

' src=

I’d definitely recommend it! The music and visuals are both absolutely phenomenal and pretty flawless for my tastes. The gameplay is great and tons of fun, plus it’s pretty addicting haha. I’d say it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome and gave me about 10-15 hours total before I beat it and called it, there. I’d say for someone that doesn’t sink dozens (or hundreds) of hours into roguelikes, it’s a great time. It’s good to play through, beat once, and not return to very often. For the sale I’d definitely recommend it. It doesn’t slog on or have too many big difficulty spikes to make it inaccessible to those not heavy into them like others in the genre

' src=

I didn’t like it very much, if you have Netflix you have it for free so give it a shot there!

Yacht Club Games Reveals New Zelda-Like Title, Mina: The Hollower

David Carcasole / February 1, 2022

yacht club games new game

Mina: The Hollower is a brand new game from famed developer and publisher Yacht Club Games , and it’s their first new IP since 2014’s Shovel Knight .

The news was revealed in collaboration with G4TV, who also streamed the first look at gameplay for Mina: The Hollower live.

While Shovel Knight put Yacht Club Games on the map as genius game designers, particularly for 2D platformers, Mina takes the studio in a different direction.

Immediately the influences from classic adventure titles like Zelda . Not recent titles like Breath Of The Wild, but more classic titles like Link’s Awakening.

There’s also a slew of influences from games like Castlevania , and Dragon Quest III . Just how Shovel Knight was the studio’s love letter to classic NES style games, Mina: The Hollower is a love letter to handheld classics from the GameBoy era.

Players can also expect more RPG elements, and a new levelling system.

You can check out a short trailer for Mina: The Hollower for yourself, here:

Yacht Club announces Shovel Knight ‘definitive edition’ with 20 playable characters

Georgina young | jun 14, 2024.

Shovel Knight

Shovel Knight launched a decade ago, and developer Yacht Club Games is marking the milestone with a bang. During the 20-minute Yacht Club Games Presents showcase, the studio made a number of announcements about its upcoming releases.

Shovel Knight Dig will receive Wicked Wishes DLC and will be launched on Xbox and PlayStation “real soon.” Pocket Dungeon is getting the Paradox Pack DLC with new characters, stages, and music by Jake Kaufman. Online multiplayer and cross-platform play is also in the works. Fans were hype for more gameplay footage from Yacht Club’s upcoming IP Mina the Hollower, but the final announcement was the biggest.

Shovel Knight originally launched with the Shovel of Hope campaign, where the titular character travels across the land, defeats the eight members of The Order of No Quarter and rescues Shield Knight. Following this successful release three more campaigns were launched where you can play as three different members of the Order: Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight. Since then fans have asked what about the others? Will we ever get to dig like Mole Knight, swashbuckle like Propeller Knight, or ride a mech like Tinker Knight? It turns out the answer is yes, but also that so much more is to come.

Shovel Knight screenshot

Shovel Knight DX will be the definitive edition of the Shovel of Hope campaign and features 20 playable characters. Not all of the characters have been announced yet, but all eight members of the order will be present, as well as other notable characters like Mona, the Enchantress, and Black Knight. If you can think of a Shovel Knight character, it’s likely that you can play as them in Shovel Knight DX, though the graceful Troupple King seems to have been unfortunately excluded.

Each character will play how they did in the original campaign. If you remember a flashy move from a character’s original fight, it’s likely that you’ll be able to pull it off yourself in Shovel Knight DX. There’s no release date or platform announcement for this yet, but Yacht Club has said that, in true Shovel Knight style, the team aims to release it on every platform possible.

Heroes of Might and Magic to get first new game in about a decade

Summer Gaming Marathon Feature Image

Ubisoft announced Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era at Gamescom 2024 on Thursday, and it will indeed bring things back to an “olden era” when it hits early access in the first half of 2025 on Steam .

Heroes of Might and Magic is a beloved, long-running, fantasy-themed turn-based strategy game franchise that started out in 1995. Players explore a map, form armies made out of fantasy creatures, capture towns to gather resources, and go to war against other armies. Olden Era is both the first new addition to the series in almost a decade, and a 30-year celebration of the series’ existence that specifically takes a lot of inspiration from Heroes of Might and Magic 3 .

Ubisoft and developer Unfrozen added new features that modern players might be used to, including the addition of multiple online multiplayer modes alongside a single-player campaign. It’ll support one-on-one matches and lobbies of up to eight players that can battle on premade maps, generated maps, or ones made with the in-game editor, which will be available during early access. There’s also a new arena mode where players draft weapons and creatures and then go up against each other.

“With Olden Era , we go back to the origins of the series, aiming to recapture the same sense of magic and wonder of traversing a vibrant adventure map full of dangers and mysteries for the first time, building mighty faction towns, and assembling massive armies of mythical creatures,” company brand director Eric Damian-Vernet said in a Ubisoft blog post .

Just from the first images and trailer,  Olden Era looks very much like a throwback, with battlefields made up of hexagonal shapes in a top-down, isometric view. They’re mostly void of assets beyond the battling armies, but they’re surrounded by moody, textured environments.

Other additions include character improvements. OK, these aren’t “characters” per se — rather, players can choose to play one of six factions, and then select from “several” heroes from within those factions. There’s also the new Faction Laws, which have you level up your faction and upgrade them with perks. Your hero can also provide buffs to the rest of your army and engage in battle with special attacks, so you’ll want to upgrade them with artifacts you find while exploring the world. The new gameplay mechanic here is subskills, which you can unlock by upgrading your main skills and can give you even more ways to strengthen your hero and army. All this adds up to more customization in how you level up your character and grow into your preferred playstyle.

And if you don’t want to put the “turn-based” in “turn-based strategy,” there is an autobattler here, too.

Beyond Good & Evil - 20th Anniversary Edition: Launch Trailer

Beyond Good & Evil fans might not have any news on the long-in-development prequel, but a 20th Anniversary Edition is set to launch next week.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership – Announcement Trailer – Nintendo Switch

Mario and Luigi are coming back to the Nintendo Switch, but this time in their own spinoff called Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which is releasing on November 7 for the Switch console, just in time for the holiday season.

Now enterting its second decade of existence, the Shovel Knight series is getting some major updates, including a whole new mainline game that was announced Friday.

Yacht Club Games founder Sean Velasco didn't reveal much during the studio's 10th anniversary showcase, but said the game, which has been in the works for around four years, "honors the shovel knight legacy" while integrating "innovative gameplay mechanics." This is purposefully vague, but his statement that it'll be a "bold new adventure that'll launch Shovel Knight into an entirely new dimension of gaming" makes us think that 3D might be on the horizon.

We're currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please bear with us!

Yacht Club Games Presents Looks at Upcoming Shovelry

Shovels to the future.

Yacht Club Games Presents | Featured

Well folks, I completely forgot that today was the day for Yacht Club Games Presents, despite writing up the announcement recently . But fret not, since now this belated fanboy is all caught up, and eager to share the high notes of the presentation with you. Not only did this celebrate the 10th anniversary of Shovel Knight , but it announced upcoming DLC for two games, a remastered, definitive edition of the original game, a recap for Mina the Hollower and more.

Yacht Club Games Presents | DIG DLC

First, let’s talk about what’s coming soon. Both Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon and Shovel Knight Dig have DLC hitting this Summer! Here’s what fans can expect from both:

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon: Paradox Pack – This free DLC pack features Mod Support (PC only), new playable characters, new stages, secrets, challenges, and more! The game is also 50% off on all participating platforms.

Shovel Knight Dig: Wicked Wishes – The final free DLC pack for Shovel Knight Dig. It is chock-full of adventure, quests, new bosses & more! Shovel Knight Dig will also be coming to Xbox & PlayStation platforms. The game is 50% off on all participating platforms.

Yacht Club Games Presents | Pocket DLC

That’s not all, though. There was also a lengthy (and dramatic) recap on Mina the Hollower , and while it’s true it didn’t end with a release date or window, they showed off a lot of new content. Better yet, they promise more news is coming soon.

Yacht Club Games Presents | Shovel of Hope DX

But perhaps the most surprising reveal was Shovel of Hope DX . This definitive edition of the game that started it all promises to be a ton of fun:

This brand new title is an enhanced edition of the original adventure with an array of exciting new features such as 20 new playable characters, online multiplayer, rewind/save states, cheats, and more.

Yacht Club Games Presents | Merch

There was even talk of new merchandise collaborations between Yacht Club Games and Insert Coin, Sanshee, Fangamer, Symbiote Studios and Udon, live events in California and more. But perhaps the most exciting was the announcement of an entirely new game in-development, that promises not to just be a mere Shovel Knight sequel.

If you want to see the whole show for yourself, check out the full Yacht Clubs Games Presents below. And stay tuned for more exciting news from the creators of Shovelry!

Yacht Club Games reveals details for two new titles in the works

Image of Greg Bargas

Shovel Knight originally launched in 2014, and while it took much longer than many expected, development on the original 8-bit platformer finally concluded late last year. So, what’s next for Yacht Club Games? Today, they decided to tell us. Shovel Knight’s adventures will continue in a very different form with Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon . Additionally, Yacht Club shared some more details regarding an already announced title, Cyber Shadow .

The Shovel rides on

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is an offshoot of the core Shovel Knight experience. The new game is a partnership between Yacht Club Games and developer VINE. The studio announced on Twitter that it has been working on the new puzzler for more than a year. Not only that, some gameplay was shown off in a video released by the newly formed dev-duo.

so this is what I've been working on for the last year (: i hope everyone loves it!!! https://t.co/TTTXbEy4gJ — VINE (@VINE2D) February 26, 2020

Much like other Shovel Knight experiences, Yacht Club Games will launch this mini adventure on PC via Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. One could only guess that we will see Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon find a home on the next generation of consoles, which will probably mean more content down the road.

Working with Yacht Club has helped us to leverage resources we wouldn’t have access to otherwise, and helped get the game in front of more people. It’s fun to add to the mythos of Shovel Knight, too. — Russell Rafferty, developer behind VINE and creator of Pocket Dungeon .

When the world needs a ninja

As mentioned, Yacht Club Games brought two titles to the table today. The other is Cyber Shadow , originally revealed last year. We haven’t seen much of it since, however, and today’s new story trailer provided a fresh look at it. This game seems like a much faster experience, relying more on your platforming and hack-n-slash skills. It promises combat, enemy hordes, and traps. And it seems like it will be a test of your reflexes, having you nimbly making your way through the remnants of Mekacity.

In the game, you play as Shadow, who exists in a world “taken over by synthetic lifeforms.” The game was developed by Aarne “MekaSkull” Hunziker, which is remarkable being that its a one-person team. At this time, the only promise of release is sometime in the fall of 2020. It too will release on all platforms. But, it will come to Game Pass on both Xbox One and PC. It’s asking price is $14.99 USD.

Both games were part of the Yacht Club Games Presents , a video segment that showed off the two titles.

The Morning

Why kamala harris’s centrism is working.

The vice president’s convention speech embodied her efforts to win over swing voters.

yacht club games new game

By David Leonhardt

Kamala Harris capped her first month as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate with a roughly 35-minute convention speech last night that embodied her aggressive efforts to win over swing voters.

It was a patriotic speech that was hawkish on foreign policy and border security. She described the United States as the greatest country in the world — a view many Americans hold but most Democratic voters do not — and she ended by saying that being an American was “the greatest privilege on earth.” She promised to confront China, Russia, Iran and Iran-backed terrorists and to make sure that the U.S. military remained the “most lethal fighting force in the world.”

She also offered a series of populist promises to help the middle class by reducing the cost of housing and health care — policies that many independents and some Republicans favor. And she spent little if any time on subjects that inspire passion among Democrats but are either secondary or off-putting to many swing voters, such as student debt forgiveness and President Biden’s climate agenda.

You can read more about Harris’s speech in this news story , as well as in this article on how she contrasted herself with Donald Trump .

In today’s newsletter, I want to explain why Harris’s move to the political center seems to be working, at least so far.

Who vs. what

Harris has surged in the polls , erasing Biden’s deficit and taking a small lead over Trump, for two main reasons. First, she has won over some swing voters, including independents, working-class Midwesterners and even a fraction of 2020 Trump voters. Second, she has done so at no apparent cost: In addition to attracting swing voters, she has built a bigger lead than Biden had among the Democratic base, such as young voters, college graduates and city residents.

How could this be? It comes down to the difference between the who and the what of her candidacy.

Loyal Democrats are energized about the who . They spent months agonizing over Biden’s flailing candidacy. Once he quit and Harris wrapped up party support in just a few hours, everything felt different.

Democrats remembered what it was like to have a candidate who could deliver a speech without making people fret that something was about to go wrong. Harris is full of energy and joy. She can cogently explain the administration’s policies, and she seems to be having fun in the process. Amid this electricity, many Democrats have been willing to tolerate her triangulation in the service of winning.

Harris isn’t just another Democratic politician, either. She would be the country’s first female president, of course, and is a woman of color. Today’s Democratic Party puts great emphasis on identity, especially race and gender. The party defines itself in large part as the defender of groups that suffer discrimination and injustice. Just watch Tuesday night’s ceremonial roll call to nominate Harris, when delegates celebrated her historic status — and their own identities.

This focus on personal identity can give pathbreaking candidates more flexibility to stray from Democratic orthodoxy without angering the base. Barack Obama benefited from a similar dynamic in 2008. He was more moderate than some other Democratic candidates that year, yet he still excited many progressives. (Obama’s speech this week was also fairly moderate. Nonetheless, it received rapturous applause.)

For all these reasons, Harris has formed an emotional bond with liberals and others who make up the Democratic base. That bond has freed her to pursue swing voters with the what of her candidacy. She offers an economic agenda that many working-class voters support. She claims that she, not Trump, is the true candidate of border security. She encourages “U.S.A.!” chants. Last night, she referred to American history as “the most extraordinary story ever told.”

A tight race

Even so, the presidential race remains close. Harris leads in enough states to win, but only just. And if recent polls have undercounted Trump voters as much as they did in 2016 and 2020 , he would probably win an election held today.

With the convention now over, Democrats won’t be able to control the narrative the way that they have this week. Republicans have already started running ads to remind voters of Harris’s liberal past. One ad opens by calling Harris a “San Francisco radical” and showing her wearing a Covid mask while she announces her pronouns. It then includes clips in which she calls for a ban on plastic straws, supports looser immigration policies and says more police officers don’t lead to more safety. Expect to see a lot of these ads before November.

It is possible that Harris has been enjoying a temporary polling bump — from the good vibes of replacing Biden — that will soon fade. (In that case, I’ll be curious to see if Harris goes even further to moderate her image; she said nothing last night, for example, about whether she supported an “all of the above” energy policy to reduce prices.)

Nobody knows what will happen between now and Election Day. What’s clear is that Harris has run an effective first month of her campaign, managing both to consolidate Democratic support and to moderately — in both senses of the word — expand her appeal.

More from the convention

Harris’s speech included a statement of support for Israel, a denunciation of Hamas and a demand for security and dignity for the people of Gaza. It was effort to bridge the Democratic Party’s divides on the war.

Harris spoke about growing up in a working-class neighborhood with an immigrant single mother . “She taught us to never complain about injustice, but do something about it,” Harris said. “She also taught us, ‘And never do anything half-assed.’”

Harris accused Trump and the Republicans of planning to jail opponents, cut taxes for the rich and ban abortion nationwide. “Simply put, they are out of their minds,” she said.

“My entire career, I’ve only had one client: the people,” Harris said of her background as a prosecutor and lawmaker. Trump, she argued, was running “to serve the only client he has ever had: himself.” Read a transcript of her speech .

Other speakers last night echoed Harris’s patriotic theme . Adam Kinzinger, a Republican former congressman, said, “I want to let my fellow Republicans in on the secret: The Democrats are as patriotic as us.”

Members of the Central Park Five — who as boys were wrongfully convicted of attacking a woman in 1980s New York — criticized Trump . Years ago, he called for the return of the death penalty over the case.

Celebrity appearances included the Chicks, who performed the national anthem, Kerry Washington , the singer Pink and the N.B.A. star Stephen Curry, who endorsed Harris in a video.

Harris’s grandnieces led delegates in a call-and-response about how to pronounce her name. “First you say ‘comma,’ like a comma in a sentence,” one said. “Then you say ‘la,’ like ‘la-la-la-la-la,’” the other said.

More on the campaign

Trump, calling in to Fox News after Harris’s speech, sought to distance himself from Project 2025, his conservative allies’ governing blueprint, and accused Harris of failing to fix the problems she was “complaining about.”

Trump said on social media that Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, who is Jewish, had done “nothing” for Israel and called himself “the best friend that Israel, and the Jewish people, ever had.” Shapiro accused Trump of peddling antisemitic tropes .

Arizona can require people registering to vote to show proof of citizenship , the Supreme Court said.

Trump’s New Jersey golf club will host a fund-raiser to support Capitol rioters , billed as the J6 Awards Gala, next month.

Arkansas’s Supreme Court rejected an effort to put an abortion-rights amendment on the November ballot, saying the paperwork was faulty.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. filed to withdraw from the presidential election in Arizona. He’s scheduled to speak about his campaign’s future today.
