Review of Amigo 27
Basic specs..
Both the hull and the deck is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season. And outside the sailing season, just bottom cleaning and perhaps anti-fouling painting once a year - a few hours of work, that's all.
The boat equipped with a fractional rig. A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier, which is an advantage for cruisers and racers, of course. The downside is that having the wind from behind often requires a genaker or a spinnaker for optimal speed.
The Amigo 27 has been built with different keel alternatives.
The Amigo 27 is equipped with a long keel. A full keel provide a better directional stability than a similar boat with a fin keel; on the other hand, better directional stability means also that the boat is more difficult to handle in a harbour with less space.
The keel is made of iron. Many people prefer lead keel in favour of iron. The main argument is that lead is much heavier than iron and a lead keel can therefore be made smaller which again result in less wet surface, i.e. less drag. In fact iron is quite heavy, just 30% less heavy than lead, so the advantage of a lead keel is often overstated.
The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.30 - 1.40 meter (4.27 - 4.57 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

Meaning: if you load 102 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 574 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.

Sign in to save them permanently, access them on any device, and receive relevant alerts.  1975 Amigo 27Seller's DescriptionAmigo 27 sailboat for sale The amigo 27 is a Swedish made boat, it is an extremely stable ocean going yacht and has been used for world cruises. it is one of the smallest blue water rated ( suitable for ocean crossings ) boats on the market, making it easy to handle and suitable for single handed sailing or a small crew; and due to its unusually stable hull design with a long full length keel ( see photos) it can, handle a very rough sea ( and has been put to the test!) better than most boats of its size. It has a furling jib sail and reefing mainsail- All rigging can be controlled from the cockpit. Furling jib sail in great condition ( see photos) washed and repaired in sept 2022 reefing mainsail washed and repaired sept 2022 in great condition ( see photos) Antifouled in July 2022 Full set of brand new windows Aug 2022 Deck has been newly repainted with non slip paint in October 2022 Comes with a 6hp outboard engine only 2 years old, ( used only for small sections of the boats journey over from Sweden) It also has an inboard 12hp engine yanmar- though this has been taken out of the boat and will need an overhaul or reconditioned. However it does run fine with just the outboard. The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more. Classic hull speed formula: Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL Sail Area / Displacement RatioA measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize. Ballast / Displacement * 100 Displacement / Length RatioA measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The boat is fair and sails well." -Mark Lemahieu Although our AMIGO may seem compact, this pocket cruiser offers the seaworthiness, comfort, and features of much larger vessels, but at an affordable price. Not to be confused with the lighter, less able weekender-types of similar length, this is a heavy boat capable of serious long-distance offshore and coastal cruising. Yet AMIGO is a boat that is easy to handle in either the masthead or gaff sloop rig, even by the single hander. Best of all, it's trailerable. A most notable feature aboard AMIGO is the standing headroom throughout the cabin area, a remarkable feat considering the very attractive and well-proportioned appearance. Another clever feature is the fully enclosed toilet room with stall shower formed by a series of hinged panels. These panels fold back when not needed, hiding the head from view while opening up the cabin for spaciousness. The divided cabin offers dual cabin privacy, something seldom seen on a 22' boat. Other features of AMIGO include two hanging lockers, a dinette that converts to form a berth, an aft quarter berth, a 4' long galley, and a huge ice box with loading and access from the cockpit or galley. Storage space is located in every nook and cranny, including a separate locker at the stern for stove fuel with overboard drains for safety. The cockpit is self draining and long enough to sleep in.
