Name Inspiration

If you’re struggling to come up with a name for your sailboat, consider these sources of inspiration:

  • Your favorite places: Think about places that you love or have special meaning to you. Maybe you want to name your boat after your favorite beach or your hometown.
  • Your favorite things: Consider hobbies, activities, or interests that you love. For example, if you love to fish, you might want to name your boat after a type of fish.
  • Your boat’s characteristics: Take a look at your boat and think about its color, shape, or features. Maybe you want to name it after its sleek design or its bright red sails.
  • Famous sailors: Consider naming your boat after a famous sailor or explorer who inspires you.
  • Personal connections: Think about people or things that are important to you. Maybe you want to name your boat after a loved one or a pet.

Help Choosing the Perfect Name

Choosing the perfect name for your sailboat can be a daunting task.

Here are a few tips to help you make the right choice:

  • Consider the size and style of your boat. A sleek, modern boat might warrant a cool or stylish name, while a classic wooden boat might call for a more traditional name.
  • Think about the location where you will be sailing. A sailboat that will be used primarily in the tropics might inspire a name that evokes sun, sand, and sea, while a boat used in colder, northern waters might warrant a name that evokes strength and endurance.
  • Consider the personality of the boat’s owner. A fun-loving sailor might want a name that is playful or humorous, while a more serious sailor might want a name that is strong and classic.
  • Brainstorm a list of potential names and then narrow it down. Ask friends and family for their opinions, and consider how the name will look on the side of your boat.
  • Remember that the name of your boat will be with you for a long time, so choose a name that you truly love and that reflects your personality and style.

Naming your sailboat can be a fun and creative process. Whether you choose a name that is traditional, adventurous, or playful, the right name can make your boat feel like an extension of your personality and style.

Use this list of sailboat names as inspiration and remember to take your time in choosing the perfect name for your vessel. Happy sailing!

My, she sure is yar.

Whether it's for rest and relaxation or fishing and water sports, there are few things better than taking to the high seas. If you're like many others, buying a boat is a long-dreamt-of goal. The choice is all yours, and it's a choice you probably want to take some time making. From the iconic names of super-yachts to sea-worthy puns, we’ve rounded up the most chic, popular, and all around classic handles. You've got options.

boat names

If you want to keep your boat's name short and sweet, a strong name like Abyss or Andiamo ("Let's go") will surely do the trick. Or might we suggest something sillier, like Aquaholic ?

boat names

A cleverly crafted phrase like Black Pearl or Bankers Hours makes a statement without having to say too much. If it's more of a booze cruise you seek, Bottoms Up or Bacchus , for the Roman god of wine, are solid choices.

boat names

Something to keep in mind when naming your boat– no matter how big or small the name is you choose– is what it will look like on a hat or jacket for you and your crew. Classic names like Calypso or Carpe Diem sound as good as they look.

From Destiny to Dream Weaver there are tons of ways to demonstrate how much your boat means to you through its name.

Figures in Greek mythology is a perfect place to turn to when deciding a boat name. Just ask Diane Von Furstenberg , who named her boat after the Greek goddess, Eos, who symbolizes the dawn . Follow her lead, or opt for a masculine version instead like Eros, the god of love.

boat names

A funny pun like Fish Tales or Fantasea as a name is sure to make you friends around the marina.

boat names

Boats are commonly referred to as 'she' and given feminine names, which many historians originated from the role of goddesses and mothers who were though to protect a ship’s voyage. Y ou can go with a common one, like Gemma, or choose a name with personal significance to safeguard your travels just as well, according to the superstition.

You are sure to have many memories of relaxation and good times on your boat and its name should reflect that. Onboard Happy Hours or Hakuna Matata , spirits are bound to be high.

A witty phrase that interchanges "knot" and "not" is great for a light-hearted and jovial boat name–and there's no better time for a nautical pun. Our favorites include Knot Working and Knot on Call, but feel free to let your creative juices flow!

boat names

Show off your sense of humor with something like Liquid Asset , or your sunny attitude with License to Chill or Life is Good .

Water transportation, Text, Yacht, Vehicle, Boat, Font, Naval architecture, Watercraft, Ship, Luxury yacht,

A popular trend for boat names is translating a phrase into another language. Brazilian businessman, Alexandre Grendene Bartelle, used the French pronoun for 'miss' when naming his super-yacht, Madame Kate, while others have used the word Mahalo, which translates to thank you in Hawaiian.

boat names

Reference the past with names like North Star (which sailors historically used as guidance on long voyages) or Neptune’s Glory , alluding to the Roman god of the sea. Maybe you'd prefer to opt for something a little more zen, like Nirvana , Namaste , No Worries , or No Regrets .

Water, Water resources, Water transportation, Natural landscape, Boat, Yacht, Vehicle, Ocean, Sailing, Calm,

When in doubt, a short and strong word goes very far– Ohana , Oasis , Orion , Obsession , Osprey , and Odyssey are all powerful options for your boat’s name.

Sky, Text, Water, Font, Ocean, Natural landscape, Sea, Calm, Morning, Cloud,

You know what they say: money talks. People love to use financial terms for their yacht names. Principal Interest is just one of many different monetary puns that you could use.

Blue, Text, Water, Font, Sky, Ocean, Calm, Adaptation, Thinking,

Attaching a special meaning to your boat is one of the best things about being able to name it. A name like Querencia, which refers to a place where a person feels authentically like themselves, is a great way to ensure your boat's name is sentimental.

Water transportation, Sailing, Boat, Vehicle, Sail, Sailing, Sailboat, Watercraft, Mast, Recreation,

No one would be able to turn down an afternoon aboard the Rum Runner, as it sounds like a guaranteed good time.

boat names

For a classic and timeless name, there are a great deal of sea phrases to choose such as Sea Spirit or Second Wind . Names that play on words, such as Sea Senora or Seas the Day are quality names, too. T he options are as wide as the horizon.

boat names

Another route is to give your boat a name with a double entendre. Playful picks like The Good Life, Therapy, or Time Out are fun and don't take themselves too seriously. If you're Margaritaville-bound, we particularly like The Salt Shaker .

10 largest sailing ships in the world

big sailboat name

The world's largest sailing ships have captivated mankind for centuries, being symbols of elegance, adventure and freedom on the high seas. As engineering and technology have advanced, sailing ships have grown in size and magnificence, reaching new dimensions in the world of sailing. In this list we present the great sailing ships that sail the planet today.

Sailing Yacht A

This impressive sailing yacht has a length of 142.81 meters. As such, it holds the title of the largest sailing yacht in the world. This one was built in Germany in 2015 and features an innovative and luxurious design. It has three masts in which the tallest mast reaches 100 meters.

It is a sailing yacht, and the sails unfurl from the masts at the push of a button.

It is worth between 400 and 500 million euros.

Jeff Bezos' 500 million superyacht is 127 meters long. It has three masts that reach up to 70 meters in height, making it the largest sailing vessel in the world.

It is one of the newest, having been delivered to the CEO of Amazon earlier this year.

It has a capacity of 18 guests and 40 crew members.

Sea Cloud Spirit

Its 125.7 meters in length and 17.20 meters in beam make it the second largest sailing yacht on the planet. Sea Cloud was designed by Cox & Stevens and built many years ago in Kiel, Germany. The sails (over 4,000 square meters) can be seen on any of her three masts, the tallest of which is 60m high. The yacht was rebuilt in 1978 by new German owners.

On board there is room for more than fifty passengers, in addition to the 85 crew members.

The ship is owned by a German luxury cruising company that owns the 1931 Sea Cloud and the 1999 Sea Cloud II.

Black Pearl

With a length of 106.7 meters, the Black Pearl is one of the largest sailing yachts in the world and technologically is among the most advanced in the world. It was built in 2016 and stands out for its elegant design and hybrid propulsion system. Regarding the masts, like the other two sailboats it has three.

These masts are self-rotating to adjust the sails that reach 75 meters in height, with 2,877 square meters of sail area.

As a curiosity, it is said that this sailboat can cross the Atlantic with only 20 liters of fuel, a sailing milestone. Another differential feature would be the material of the sails, the fabric is made of dracon and flexible solar panels have been added to generate energy on board to feed the electrical system.

This sailing yacht, which until 2017 was the second largest in the world, is 93 meters lon g. It was launched in 2006 and is characterized by its elegant design and extensive on-board amenities. The Eos, like all these large sailing yachts, has three masts in addition to an engine that allows it to sail at a maximum speed of 16 knots.

This 90-meter-long sailing yacht is known for its impressive three-masted rig (the largest mast reaches about 60m in height) and its classic styling. It was built in 2004 and acquired for a price of around 100 million euros. IT offers a high level of comfort and luxury and its beautiful design has won several awards , such as best sailing yacht (over 40 meters) in 2004 and best sailing yacht interiors in 2005.

Maltese Falcon

With a length of 88 meters, the Maltese Falcon is famous for its innovative system of rotating masts , which house fifteen sails for a total sail area of 2,400 square meters. It was launched in 2006 and is one of the world's largest, most recognizable and distinctive sailing yachts in existence. This sailing yacht was subsequently acquired for an approximate amount in excess of 85 million euros.

This 85.9 meter long, 14.50 beam sailing yacht combines elegance and luxury with high performance. It was built in 2016 and stands out for its modern design and spacious entertainment areas. With capacity for 12 guests and 17 crew , this is a sailboat that you can currently rent with an approximate price of five hundred thousand euros per week.

At 70 meters in length, the Sybaris is one of the great luxury sailing yachts that combines elegant design with exceptional performance. It was launched in 2016 and boasts a wide variety of high-end features and amenities.

A year later, in 2017, it was awarded as the best sailboat of the year at the World Superyacht Awards.

It has a 72m carbon Rondal main deck and a 62m mine setting a total of 3,000 square meters of sail.

This 67.2-meter sailing yacht stands out for its contemporary design and focus on sustainability. It was built in 2011 by New Zealand shipyard Alloy Yachts in a record 29 months. Unlike many luxury sailing yachts on this list, Vertigo has two masts, but can sail faster than many in its class , specifically 20 knots. It has a luxurious interior and offers an exceptional sailing experience.

In conclusion, the 10 largest sailing ships in the world represent a perfect combination of engineering, beauty and maritime prowess . These impressive vessels have taken sailing to a new level, defying expectations and leaving an indelible mark on maritime history.

Do’s and Don’ts

Here are some key do’s and don’ts to consider when choosing a name for a boat:

  • Do make it personal: Choose a boat name that reflects your personality, interests, or something meaningful to you.
  • Do consider the boat’s purpose: Think about the primary use of the boat and choose a name that aligns with it.
  • Do keep it short and easy to pronounce: A concise and clear name is memorable and easy for others to understand.
  • Do choose a unique name: Stand out from the crowd by selecting a boat name that is distinctive and not commonly used.
  • Do consider nautical or boating themes: Incorporate elements related to the sea, sailing, or boating to add a touch of nautical charm to the name.
  • Do check for offensive or inappropriate connotations: Ensure the chosen name does not have any unintended negative or offensive associations.
  • Do consider wordplay or clever puns: A witty or clever boat name can make it more memorable and fun.
  • Do check for existing boat names: Research to make sure the name you choose is not already in use to avoid confusion.
  • Don’t choose a generic name: Avoid generic or overused boat names that may blend in with others on the water.
  • Don’t select a name that is difficult to spell or pronounce: Keep it simple and avoid complex or hard-to-pronounce names.
  • Don’t choose a name that is too long: Long names can be challenging to read and remember.
  • Don’t use offensive or controversial language: Stay away from any names that may be offensive, controversial, or inappropriate.
  • Don’t limit yourself to trends: While trendy names may seem appealing at the moment, they can quickly become outdated.
  • Don’t forget to consider future resale: If you plan to sell the boat in the future, choose a name that has broad appeal and is not overly personalized.
  • Don’t rush the decision: Take your time to brainstorm, consider options, and choose a name that you genuinely love.
  • Don’t disregard local regulations: Check if there are any local regulations or restrictions on boat names in your area and ensure your chosen name complies with them.

Naming a boat is an exciting opportunity to give your vessel identity and share it with the world.

Take your time to think about why you own the boat, and choose a name that represents you, your goals, and the style of boating you enjoy most.

Good luck, and thanks for reading!

The Biggest Boats in the World

16th jan 2023 by samantha wilson.

Rightboat logo

Boats are a fascinating and centuries-old invention. From the smallest RIBs  and Jon boats to the very largest superyachts and cruise ships, the spectrum is one of the most diverse of any industry on the planet. While you ponder your next boat, or get to grips with the mechanics, repair and upkeep , spare a moment to think about the innovation that goes into some of the biggest boats to grace our oceans. These true behemoths are astounding feats of engineering and innovation. From river steamboats to superyachts and cruise ships.

Here are some of the largest ships in the world in 2024

The largest cruise ship: symphony of the seas, the largest ocean liner: rms queen mary 2, the largest sailing yacht: the golden horizon, the largest motor superyacht: azzam, the largest sailing superyacht: sailing yacht a, the largest explorer yacht: rev ocean, the largest supertanker: hmm algeciras, the largest paddlewheel steamboat: the american queen.

Cruise liners just keep getting bigger and bigger, and the gargantuan Symphony of the Seas, the 25th ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, stands as the biggest cruise ship in the world. She set sail on her maiden voyage on 23rd March 2018 and is today based out of Port Miami, Florida. Her jaw-dropping statistics include a length of 362 metres, which can accommodate 5,518 passengers and 2,100 crew. Her 18 decks are home to 23 restaurants as well as 25 pools, whirlpools, FlowRider surf simulators and waterslides.

Symphony of the Seas - The Largest Cruise Ship

Built as the world’s largest ocean liner, the RMS Queen Mary 2 was launched in 2004 and completed her maiden voyage in tandem with the now decommissioned RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2). With a length of 345 metres, and an interior designed with classic elegance, the Queen Mary 2 harks back to a time when cross-Atlantic travel was all ocean-going. Differently to a cruise ship, an ocean liner is designed to transport passengers and the Queen Mary 2 is currently the only such ship operating between Southampton and New York.

RMS Queen Mary 2 - The Largest Ocean Liner

Before the invention of the engine, boats had relied on the power of the wind for centuries, and great galleons once explored the far corners of our earth. Today, most sailing ships are dwarfed by the superyachts and cruise liners which surround them, but there are some which are truly vast. The 162 metre, five-masted Golden Horizon is the world’s largest sailing-vessel and an almost perfect replica of the France II, which was built in 1913. There is a staggering 6,000 square metres of sail on the modern-day passenger ship, which can accommodate 300 passengers and 140 crew. With swimming pools, a gym, spa, and restaurants it is a truly impressive floating masterpiece.

The Golden Horizon - The Largest Sailing Yacht

It took more than 4,000 people over four years to build the sleek, elegant 180 metre long Azzam, the largest superyacht in the world – a title it has held since it was launched in 2013. Azzam  is also one of the fastest yachts on the planet with a top speed of 33 knots thanks to her two conventional diesel engines and efficient two 9,000kW MTU engines – which are so quiet that the chandelier in the main salon doesn’t even make a tinkle underway. Accommodating 36 guests and 80 crew she is an understated yet sublimely beautiful vessel.

Azzam-The Largest motor superyacht

Shrouded in mystery, Sailing Yacht A is the largest private sailing superyacht on the planet at an incredible 142 metres long. She was built in 2017 by Nobiskrug shipbuilders for Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko and features state-of-the-art design as well as a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and navigation systems. Her design is futuristic, with almost invisible windows ensuring not a glimpse can be had of her no-doubt magnificent interior.

REV Ocean is so innovative that she has created her very own class of yacht. While she is often described as a superyacht, her function isn’t for leisure or recreation. Built by Norwegian billionaire Kjell Inge Røkke, REV Ocean is truly revolutionary as her purpose is to cruise the world’s oceans, from the tropics to the polar regions, gathering vital scientific data to be used to create a healthier planet. She is equipped with state-of-the-art scientific equipment and on-board laboratories, a moon pool, research hangar, and accommodation for 90 people – mainly scientists - on board at any time. While the 183-metre-long vessel can be chartered, all profits go back into the ship’s research and conservation projects which focus on climate change, plastic pollution, and unsustainable fishing.

Measuring a mammoth 400 metres long and 61 metres wide, the HMM Algeciras is the current biggest cargo ship in the world. It is the first of a fleet of 12 identical vessels to be built for HMM, and will ply the route between China and Europe. Known as Megamax-24 container vessels, the number 24 refers to the amount of containers that can be placed across the width of the ship. There can then be 12 towering layers stacked above the deck and another 12 beneath the deck. HMM Algeciras made her maiden voyage in 2020, dwarfing other tankers as she made stops in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and the UK before returning to Asia.

Plying the waters of the great Mississippi River, the American Queen is the largest paddle wheel steamboat in existence. She is adorned with antiques and a décor of Victorian charm, and has 222 elegant staterooms which can accommodate 436 passengers. She was built in 1995 and is 127 metres long, and in addition to facilities such as a pool, gym and spa, the opulent riverboat she has a library dedicated to the famous writer Mark Twain. The American Queen cruises along the mighty Mississippi past great southern cities such as New Orleans and Memphis as it takes in America’s heartland.

Names of Sails on a Sailboat

Names of Sails on a Sailboat

Are you a beginner sailor and want to get acquainted with the names of the sails? Are you an experienced sailor and want to learn more details about the sails on a sailboat? Then this article is written for you! Sails form a crucial part of the sailboat because without them, there’s no starting up. For that reason, there are many details about different types of sails concerning their utility, functionality, fabrication materials, and performance. Simply put, each sail serves different purposes when out on the water. Since the sail is the engine of your sailboat, in terms of it being the basic source of propulsion, it’s important to know when best to use either type of sail and why.

Types of Sails on a Sailboat

So, in order to better explain the types of sails, let’s look at their characteristics. The first important distinction between sails is their placement. Generally, the mainsail is placed aft of the mast , which means behind. On the contrary, the headsail is in front of the mast. There are also other sorts of sails that are used for specific conditions. These can be the spinnakers or balloon-shaped sails for downwind use. The second important distinction for the sails is their functionality. The specialized sails have different functionalities and are used in different sailing circumstances and weather conditions. A rule about sails is that large sails are appropriate for downwind use, whereas small sails are good for upwind use. Moreover, large sails perform better on weak winds while small sails are good for strong winds.

The Parts of a Sail and its Shapes

  • Head: This is the top of the sail.
  • Luff: The forward edge of the sail.
  • Leech: Back edge of the sail.
  • Tack: The lower front corner of the sail.
  • Clew: The bottom back corner of the sail.
  • Foot: Bottom of the sail.

There are two sail shapes, the fore-and-aft rigged sails, and square-rigged sails. Nowadays, fore-and-aft sails are more popular, have better performance and maneuverability. To grasp the idea square sails are the ones that Vikings had on their ships and are good at sailing downwind because they run from side to side. But they’re not suitable at all when sailing upwind. On the other hand, a fore-and-aft sail is tied from the front of the mast to the stern and is much better at sailing upwind.

Types and Names of Sails

There are a lot of reasons why you’d want to put one sail over another, but the most important thing to remember has to do with the point of your sail and the wind strength. These points help you understand how your sailboat generates wind power. These points of sail include: into the wind (in irons), beam-reaching, broad-reaching, close-hauled, close-reaching, and running. They all go from windward to leeward and are symmetric from port to starboard . So, let’s get to the point and see the names and explanation of each sail:

  • Mainsail : The large sail behind the mast which is attached to the mast and the boom, is called the mainsail. Mainsails cover a lot of surface area concerning incoming winds and by doing that they don’t need very strong winds to provide forward propulsion on a sailboat.
  • Headsail or Jib : The small sail placed in front of the mast, attached to the mast and forestay (ie. jib or genoa), is called the headsail. Headsails are smaller than mainsails, thus their surface area is smaller. As a result, they can’t catch the same wind as a mainsail does. However, this is important because in case that the current wind is strong and the mainsail has been enough trimmed, being able to remove the mainsail and depend on the headsail alone, is a good strategy in order to reduce speed.
  • Genoa : A genoa is like a large jib and it’s attached to the front of the forestay, like a headsail. When you use a genoa sail then you are expecting light to medium winds. Also, your sailboat would be somehow in a rush point of sail, meaning that the wind comes directly from the rear. Moreover, the surface area of a genoa sail is quite large, so it’s important to use it when winds are relatively low.
  • Spinnaker : These downwind sails are symmetrical which makes them more sensitive to the reaching points of the sail and therefore more suitable for the running point of sail. Spinakkers are lighter than other types of jibs, and they don’t cover the mast like a genoa sail. Moreover, they remain unattached to the forestay and stretch out toward and past the bow of a sailboat.
  • Gennaker : Gennakers are a mixture of genoa and spinnaker sails. There are small and big gennakers and both are downwind sails. They aren’t as symmetric as a spinnaker and aren’t attached to the forestay like a headsail. Furthermore, the gennaker sail is able to take on a more flexible point of sail while taking advantage of softer winds.
  • Drifter Reacher : A drifter is a light air sail, and it’s basically a larger genoa for use in light winds. Its extra sail area offers better downwind performance than a genoa. It’s mostly made from lightweight nylon.
  • Code Zero Reacher : This sail is a type of spinnaker, but it looks like a large genoa. However, code zero is designed for better reaching which makes it much flatter than the spinnaker.
  • Windseeker : This sail is small, and it’s designed to guide light air onto the lee side of the mainsail. Moreover, it’s tall and thin and ensures a smoother flow of air.

Sail and Mast Configurations

Now that you got an idea of the different types of sails on a sailboat, it would also be an advantage to know how these types of sails are related to the configuration of a sailboat’s mast. There are numerous combinations when it comes to sails and mast configurations, let’s see some of them!

  • Cat: A cat is similar to a dinghy and has one mast and one sail. The mast is located at the bow of the sailboat.
  • Sloop: The sloop has the classic single mast and a double sail setup. The headsail can be different kinds of jibs, is connected with the forestay on the mast, and runs all the way up to the mast.
  • Fractional Rig Sloop: A fractional rig sloop is different from the sloop because its forestay doesn’t reach the top of the mast. Its headsail is restricted to a fractional amount of space and this means that less wind can be captured, therefore the speed of the sailboat is reduced.
  • Cutter: Having two forestays on the mast and cutters that are able to house two headsails this setup allows easy cruising because it offers a wide combination of points of sail for different strengths of wind.
  • Ketch: Just like a sloop the ketch has a mast that enables the mainsail and headsail to a full range forestay. However, it also has a smaller mast between the mainmast and the stern of the sailboat.
  • Schooner: A schooner is when a sailboat has two or more masts but it has a couple of sails to manage. A schooner’s aft mast is taller than the forward mast and sometimes a schooner can have up to six masts.

Names of Sails on a Sailboat – Summary

So, how many types of sails are there? In general, sailboats have one mainsail and one headsail. The rigging also affects the types of sails you can use. As we’ve explained before, the mainsail is a fore-and-aft Bermuda rig. Then, for a headsail, we use a jib or genoa. Most experienced sailors use extra sails to ensure better performance for their sailboat. For example, the spinnaker (a common downwind sail), the gennaker, the code zero (for upwind use), and the storm sail. Keep in mind that every sail has its own use and performance. Want to go downwind fast? Use a spinnaker. Don’t just raise any sail you think suits you best and go for it! It’s of great importance to understand the functionality, use, and performance of each sail.

The world’s largest sailing cargo ship is making its maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. It left a port in France in early August, and it is on track to deliver 1000 tonnes of cognac and champagne to New York City by 3 September. Its shipments have a carbon footprint one tenth that of a standard container ship.

“For centuries we knew wind was abundant [over] the deep sea, and we had the pilot charts,” says Guillaume Le Grand , CEO of TOWT, the French company that commissioned…

Oregon Ducks 'No Salary Cap' on Name, Image, Likeness Money?

Bri amaranthus | 20 hours ago.

EUGENE - The Oregon Ducks are thriving in the age of the transfer portal and ever-changing recruiting world. Oregon secured the nation's No. 1 transfer quarterback Dillon Gabriel to instantly boost a Duck offense that lost quarterback Bo Nix to the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Then, the Ducks secured a potential quarterback of the future in transfer quarterback Dante Moore. Add in dangerous playmakers like wide receiver Evan Stewart, cornerback Jubbar Muhammad, safety Kobe Savage and defensive linemen Derrick Harmon and Jamaree Caldwell... and it's an abundance of riches.

Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart makes a catch during practice with the Ducks

An abundance of riches that some coaches appear to be a little green with envy about.

"Oregon doesn't have (a salary cap) but we do. There's a salary cap," UCLA coach DeShaun Foster told 247Sports.

Foster isn't the only college football coach that has made comments about Oregon's name image and likeness budget.

At SEC Media Days, Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart  poked some fun at Oregon and coach Dan Lanning.

“This year, we took Nike, who I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting Phil Knight and his wonderful wife Penny,” Smart said. "And I wish I could get some of that NIL money that he’s sharing with Dan Lanning. But that’s another note.”

A few weeks later, Lanning responded to his former coach.

“I think it’s impressive that guys like Kirby (Smart) have been signing the No. 1 class in the nation without any NIL money this entire time. Obviously coach Smart took a little shot at us. If you want to be a top-10 team in college football, you better have great support. We have that," Coach Lanning said on the Pat McAfee Show.

Nike co-founder Phil Knight attends the Texas Tech-Oregon non-conference football game

Oregon does have a great relationship with Nike founder and Oregon graduate, Phil Knight. But to insinuate that Knight has written a blank check with an unlimited salary cap does not make factual sense.

"I don't think we'd ever lose a recruiting battle if that was the case," coach Lanning said on if Oregon has "unlimited NIL" from  Nike owner Phil Knight.

Part of this success has been due to the efforts of  Oregon’s Division Street NIL collective which is one the most innovative and effective in the country. Division Street is an NIL collective formed by Oregon alumni and donors such as The Papé Family, Jim Morse, Ed Maletis, and Knight. Division Street aims to empower student-athletes to navigate the  NIL landscape and maximize their earning potential.

Oregon's top NIL valuations are Stewart ($1.3 million), Gabriel ($1.2 million) and offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius ($626K.)

The Ducks and Lanning are contenders in their inaugural season in the Big Ten conference. Oregon kicks off the 2024 college football season against the Idaho Vandals on August 31st at 4:30 p.m. PT.

Paris hilton defends not putting life jacket on 1-year-old son phoenix while out at sea: ‘it’s a big boat’.

Paris Hilton hit back at mom-shamers who criticized her for allowing her 1-year-old son, Phoenix, to walk around on a boat without wearing a life jacket.

The “This Is Paris” star, 43, posted a sweet TikTok video Wednesday of her and husband Carter Reum ‘s little boy waddling around aboard a luxury Sunreef catamaran during the family’s summer vacation.

“Watching Phoenix explore the world has been so special to me! I am so grateful to be a #SlivingMom,” Hilton captioned the clip, which she set to Ed Sheeran’s 2014 hit “Photograph.”

While several fans flooded the comments section with supportive messages for the mom of two, who also shares 9-month-old daughter London with Reum, concerned netizens offered up some unsolicited advice.

“Momma, please have him wear a life jacket always on a boat!! Stuff happens. That’s why they’re called accidents. With love,” a social media user commented on the post.

“we are all here for the life vest advice right? Beautiful boat, beautiful life, still safer with the jacket,” a second person wrote.

“Please from one mom to another.. life jacket!” a third commented, with another adding, “My anxiety not seeing him in a life jacket! Can never be too safe on the water!”

Hilton replied to the trolls by explaining that the luxury vessel was very big and her son was nowhere near any danger.

“Hey Mamma’s [sic], thank you for the advice & always caring about my #CutesieCrew,” she wrote in the comments section of her post. “It’s a big boat & my husband and I are following him around everywhere & watching like hawks. My babies are my world.”

Several fans backed up Hilton’s assertion that her son was safe due to the size of the fancy catamaran.

“Guys this boat is way bigger than it seems in this video. A life jacket would be silly, and worst case scenario, they taught him to swim,” a social media user wrote.

“You do you xx pheonix is having a ball xx and 100% safe,” another supporter cheered.

“You are an amazing mama!! Your #cutsiecrew is lucky to have you in their corner,” one person gushed.

Sunreef Yachts is known for its opulent ships and grand boats that feature stylish designs and modern finishes for the wealthy.

While it is unclear which model Hilton and her family used, the company’s website describes its catamarans as being “constructed for enjoying yearlong transoceanic adventures in the deep blue sea.”

The site boasts that each electric vessel is “ultra-silent, vibration-free and fumeless” as well as “easily maneuverable [and] energy efficient … with immense living spaces for dining and lounging.”

The “Cooking with Paris” host and Reum, who tied the knot in November 2021, welcomed Phoenix and London via surrogate on Jan. 16, 2023, and Nov. 11, 2023 , respectively.

This isn’t the first time Hilton has sparked safety concerns for her kids. She was slammed for the way she positioned her kids’s car seats this past May, prompting her to admit that “no one is perfect.”

That same month, the “Stars Are Blind” singer was called out for allowing her son to swim in the water while wearing his life jacket backward and subsequently thanked her followers for informing her of her mistake .
