Monaco Yacht Show

The Monaco Yacht Show returns this year for its 32nd edition with a stellar lineup of yachts. The newly refitted 319-foot Carinthia VII and the head-turning 312-foot Kismet are two of the largest yachts confirmed to attend, while this year’s debuts include a dozen-plus new launches that may not be as large as some of the brokerage and charter gigayachts at the show but are still an impressive group in terms of design.

The newbies also seem to be broken out into distinctive colors this year, with the 262-foot scarlet-red Leona being the largest launch at the show, while the 174-foot Jewels , with its sky-blue hull will also stand out. Damen’s Bad Company Support has neon-pink lettering on the side, while Anjelif has a gold exterior, and Grey has a black superstructure and light-gray hull.

The Monaco event is the biggest yachting show to take place throughout Europe and the marquis event in the superyacht world. The organizers have been working hard to promote environmental innovations and educational trends taking place within yachting. The show will have design and innovation hubs, sustainability hub, and an adventure area. Of course, the big stars will be the fleet of 120 superyachts in Port Hercules.

Here are the 10 launches that we will definitely be visiting at the show.

‘Leona’ | Bilgin Yachts

new super yachts 2023

The 262-foot Leona is Bilgin Yachts’s largest delivery to date. Even amid the glamour of Port Hercules, the full custom yacht will be hard to miss, thanks to a bright-scarlet hull that has earned the yacht the nickname “the Red Bullet.” The exterior is designed by Unique Yacht Design, and the interior is by H2 Yacht Design. The largest yacht to debut in Monaco this year, Leona is part of the Bilgin 263 series. It has the same lifting transom and large beach club pool as its sistership Tatiana . Another wow-factor feature includes a pair of Greek statues covered in fiber optics that give the impression of a star-studded night sky.

‘Alchemy’ | Rossinavi

new super yachts 2023

With a design that was developed entirely over Zoom, Rossinavi’s tri-deck 216-foot Alchemy was built for an owner with a penchant for space. The result is more than 3,500 square feet of deck space, which holds large outdoor dining areas mated with dedicated bronzing and socializing areas and an on-deck Jacuzzi. The design employs Philippe Briand’s signature Vitruvius hull, while the contemporary interior was by Enrico Gobbi’s Team for Design.

‘Anjelif’ | Columbus Yachts

new super yachts 2023

The 164-foot Anjelif is defined by its many technical innovations, including hybrid diesel-electric propulsion, an onboard sanitization system for the elimination of airborne viruses, and a touch-and-go helipad at the bow that converts into an open-air cinema. The all-aluminum, four-deck yacht delivered by Italian shipyard Columbus Yachts also boasts a gold exterior by Marco Casali of Too Design. The Italian studio used natural and sustainable materials to define the interior. Amenities include a gym on the main deck, a sauna, and treatment rooms.

‘Jewels’ | Turquoise Yachts

new super yachts 2023

Turquoise Yachts’s 174-foot Jewels , with its sky-blue hull, will no doubt to turn heads wherever it ventures. The exterior design is the result of a first-time collaboration between the Turkish builder and Miami-based DeBasto Design. The interior is by British studio H2 Yacht Design to accommodates 12 guests. The boat, which has 720 gross tonnes of volume, boasts a large sundeck with spa pool, sunpads, bar, and socializing area.

‘Grey’ | Tankoa

new super yachts 2023

Sporting a jet-black superstructure and light-gray hull, the aptly named Grey by Tankoa Yachts enjoys the same Paszkowski-designed profile as its sisterships Kinda and Olokun . But it’s the large glass-sided pool on the foredeck, paired with an outdoor cinema screen and integrated surround-sound speakers, that grab all the attention. A fold-down transom with extended swim platform, a beach club with side sea terraces, and a large sun deck with a second pool complete the 164-foot superyacht package.

‘X-Space’ | Sanlorenzo

new super yachts 2023

X-Space by Sanlorenzo takes the use of onboard glass to a new level. Full-height windows, sliding-glass panes and “glass walls” in the guest cabins fill the interior with natural light. One of the yacht’s five decks is dedicated entirely to the owner, comprising multiple living areas, an office, and large master suite leading directly onto a private terrace at the bow. The exterior features include a 323-square-foot sunbathing deck and a swimming pool. Designed by Zuccon International Project, the 144-foot yacht is one of the Italian yard’s most anticipated launches to date.

‘Fancy’ | Nautor’s Swan

new super yachts 2023

As the first hull in Nautor’s Swan’s 108 series, the 115-foot Fancy is one of a handful of sailing yachts making its world premiere at Monaco this year. Described by the shipyard as “the first in a new generation of Maxi Swans,” and sitting neatly between its Swan 98 and Swan 120 flagship, it mates a carbon hull with a sweeping and uncluttered resin-infused deck. The exterior design is by Micheletti + Partners, with naval architecture by German Frers.

‘Ace’ | Conrad

new super yachts 2023

The 145-foot yacht Ace built by Conrad Shipyard is the largest superyacht to come out of Poland. Its Reymond Langton exterior is defined by a “rolling wave” superstructure and an 82-foot sundeck with cinema screen and recessed infinity pool. Commissioned by a Swiss owner who requested an interior with an “Italian soul,” the full-custom boat sleeps 10 guests in five suites, with accommodations for a crew of nine. It marks the first hull in the Polish shipyard’s C144S series.

‘ArtExplorer’ | Perini Navi

new super yachts 2023

When Robb Report reported on Frédéric Jousset’s idea for a floating gallery in 2021 , the art enthusiast’s vision was still a dream. Now it’s a 154-foot reality called ArtExplorer , debuting at Monaco this year. Built by Perini Navi to a design by naval architects Axel de Beaufort and Guillaume Verdier, it is the largest aluminum sailing catamaran in the world. Following the museum boat’s premiere at Monaco, it will sail the world, hosting immersive art exhibitions curated in collaboration with the Louvre Museum in Jousset’s bid to “democratize the arts.”

‘Bad Company Support’ | Damen

new super yachts 2023

The 175-foot Bad Company Support is the first hull in Damen Yachting’s YS53 support vessel series. Commissioned by American tech entrepreneur Anthony Hsieh, the support vessel will be the largest boat in the serial yachtsman’s 10-strong fleet of vessels used for sportfishing expeditions and marine conservation. It’s also his first new build. Sporting an attention-grabbing neon pink name on its side, the support vessel has a 5,000 nautical mile range, a 15-ton deck crane, and IMO Tier III-compliant engines.

Autopsies show drowning as the cause of death for a US banker and wife in super yacht sinking

U.s. lawyer chris morvillo and his wife neda were among seven people who died when the bayesian sank in a sudden, violent storm on aug. 19, by the associated press • published september 2, 2024 • updated on september 2, 2024 at 2:41 pm.

The first autopsies of victims of the Bayesian super yacht sinking off Sicily show drowning as the cause of death, authorities said Monday.

U.S. lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda were among seven people who died when the Bayesian sank in a sudden, violent storm on Aug. 19. The autopsies were carried out by coroners designated by Palermo prosecutors, who confirmed the results.

Philadelphia news 24/7: Watch NBC10 free wherever you are

Autopsies are planned Wednesday on the bodies of Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley’s London-based investment banking subsidiary, and his wife, Judy.

Get top local stories in Philly delivered to you every morning. Sign up for NBC Philadelphia's News Headlines newsletter.

They are pending for the remaining three victims, British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, who had organized the yacht trip to celebrate a recent legal victory, his 18-year-old daughter Hannah and the yacht’s cook, Recaldo Thomas.

Morvillo was one of Lynch’s U.S. lawyers in a fraud case involving the sale in 2011 of Autonomy, a search engine company that became a symbol of British ingenuity, to Hewlett-Packard, in an $11 billion deal that quickly turned sour over allegations Lynch had cooked the books to overvalue Autonomy. He was acquitted in June.

Prosecutors are investigating the captain and two crew members for possible responsibility in connection with the sinking. The 56-meter (184-foot) British-flagged luxury yacht sank during what appears to have been a sudden downburst, or localized powerful wind from a thunderstorm that spreads rapidly after hitting the surface. Fifteen people, including Lynch's wife, were rescued.

Prosecutors said raising the Bayesian and examining the yacht for evidence would provide key elements to the investigation. No timeline has been determined.

Dan Campbell New Epic Applebee's Commercial Released

John maakaron | 16 hours ago.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell

  • Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell warned media members Wednesday that the recently released commercial featuring him as an Applebee's server would not be the last of his acting appearances.

On Thursday, another advertisement surfaced featuring Campbell in a similar role collaborating with the popular chain restaurant.

In this new commercial, Campbell plays the role of assistant shift manager. He gives a motivational speech to co-workers, then scorns over not winning employee of the month. Campbell's character quips that he will have the staff working seven days a week and declares that he will win the award the following month.

As a player, the popular NFL head coach did not star in many commercials, expect for a promotional campaign for the Dallas Cowboys.

“No, I didn’t have that as a player. I think I had one old commercial but that was something with the Cowboys a long time ago, I don’t know if it is or not," said Campbell. "But no, it was – look this was something I’ve been reluctant – my wife and my daughter are constantly like, ‘You have to do it, you have to do it. Do this.’ So, they talked me into the Applebee’s deal, and I said, ‘Alright, we’ll do it.’ Anyway, I had fun with it, the staff and crew that worked with us were unbelievable. The actors were awesome, they made it what it is. They were unbelievable. They made me feel comfortable and we just did it. It’s done. Unfortunately, there’s more to come, I’m afraid. new super yachts 2023

Due to be launched in 2024, Vard's SOMNIO is set to be the largest superyacht in the world and the first ever 'yacht-liner'. With a LOA of 222m and a gross tonnage of 33,500, she is an unprecedented feat of design and engineering set to change the course of ultra-luxury travel. Winch Design and Tillberg Design are responsible for her interior and exterior design, a layout which features 39 exquisite high-end apartments offering the perfect combination of the superyacht lifestyle and premium hotel service. Amenities onboard will be aplenty, notably a 10,000 bottle capacity wine cellar and tasting rooms, a plethora of restraurants and bars, and a beach club with top-tier water sports offerings.

  • Lurssen Yachts

On the 5th April 2013 Lürssen, the leading shipyard for large luxury yacht building, launched the 180m yacht AZZAM - the largest motor yacht in the world. The sleek and elegant superyacht features exterior design by Nauta Design.

Fulk Al Salamah

  • Mariotti Yachts

This 164-metre (538ft) superyacht was built in Italy by Mariotti Yachts and now sits in the Omani capital as part of the royal fleet. The Italian built superyacht is currently the second largest privately owned yacht in the world, after Lurssen's Azzam.

  • Blohm + Voss

Roman Abramovich's yacht Eclipse has received a huge amount of industry attention, not just for its size but for the celebrity of its owner. Eclipse is the largest and most expensive superyacht ever built. When initially ordered she was estimated to cost approximately £330million, by the time she was delivered however, her overall costs were closer to the £1billion mark due to the extra luxury fittings and security measures required by her owner. With a crew of up to 60, Eclipse is a giant of the sea. She was the fourth superyacht comissioned by Abramovich.

  • Platinum Yachts

This magnificent yacht was originally commissioned by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei. Construction was suspended in 1998 and the vessel left unfinished until HH Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum secured the rumoured $300 million project. Platinum Yachts took the mega yacht to completion and in 2006 launched Dubai to become the world’s largest private yacht. Today however, Dubai is the second largest privately owned yacht in the world.

Launched in February 2022, Project Blue is Lurssen's latest secretive yacht project. With little revealed about her specifications and designers, her expansive size was confirmed by the German shipyard following her launch: an incredible 160m. Project Blue will be Lurssen's second-largest superyacht, and is due to be delivered in 2023. She was recently spotted in Bremerhaven, Germany, making her way out to sea for her maiden sea trial. She is expected to have a beam of 21m, and a gross tonnage of 15,320 GT. Her other specifications are currently unknown.

Originally known as Project Omar, the 156 metre superyacht Dilbar was launched in 2016 after over 4 years of construction. A favourite with yachtspotters worldwide, Dilbar is considered the largest superyacht in the world by volume.

Like most royal superyachts, little is known about Al Said, a giant mega yacht formerly codenamed "Project Sunflower". She was delivered to the Sultan of Oman in 2008 as a replacement for a smaller mega yacht of the same name. At a stunning 155m, Al Said consists of six large decks and features striking exterior and interior design by Espen Oeino International, the same company that designed the stunning 127m mega yacht Octopus. According to reports, Al Said is said to accommodate as many as 70 guests and 154 professional crew, as well as featuring a concert room capable of accommodating a 50 piece orchestra.

When construction of A+ (formerly named Topaz) first began she was forecast to be the 4th largest yacht in the world and to measure approximately 147m (482’3’’ft). Having left her floating shed at the Lürssen shipyard located in Bremen, Germany, she is now ready to claim that mantle and undergo the final phases of construction.

Prince Abdulaziz

  • Helsingor Vaerft

As one of the yachts of the Saudi Royal Family, Prince Abdulaziz is used to conduct official business as well as for pleasure. The largest yacht built in the 20th century, the interior alone took 15 months to complete. Originally built for the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia who named the yacht after his son, it is now owned by his brother Abddullah.

Very little is known about Lurssen's mysterious superyacht OPERA. At 146m, the superyacht will be the sixth largest yacht Lurssen has built at the time of her launch in September 2022. OPERA was first spotted in May 2021 when she transported to the yard's Bremen outfitting facilities in Germany.

El Mahrousa

  • Samuda Bros.

This Egyptian presidential yacht is not only one of the world’s largest but also one of the oldest. Built in 1865 in London, the yacht was intended for the King of Egypt. Originally named Mahroussa, El Horriya was extended in 1872 and again in 1905.  Nowadays she is berthed in Alexandria and is listed as a training ship by the Egyptian Navy.

Developed by German shipyard Lürssen, construction of Project Luminance is underway at their facilities near Lemwerder. Due to enter the esteemed list of the Top 10 largest superyachts in the world, information about the 145m superyacht is limited at this moment in time. Lürssen are world-famous for their incredible innovations and their capacity to build extremely large mega yachts filled with numerous features. Photos that have been captured of the boat indicate that she will have considerable deck space with plenty of room left over indoors to be packed out with luxury.

SAILING YACHT A

Sailing Yacht A is a highly unique vessel, with an LOA of 142.81m. She is one of the world’s largest and the most advanced superyachts with a number of unique features, including an underwater observation pod, hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and premium navigation systems. Her three masts are the tallest and most highly loaded freestanding composite structures in the world. Her futuristic design was created by Philippe Starck, her smooth silver-metallic surfaces challenging the expectations of conventional aesthetics.

As one of the most well-known builders of Top 100 yachts, Lurssen's NORD (formerly Opus and Redwood) has been highly anticipated as one of the largest ever to launch from the German yard. Also the largest project set to launch in 2020, at 142m, she will accommodate up to 36 guests in 20 cabins and was designed by Nuvolari Lenard.

  • ADMShipyards

The 141m superyacht Swift141, now christened 'Yas', was successfully launched by ADMShipyards in November 2011; entering the record books as both the largest launch of 2011 and most significant superyacht in recent history. ADMShipyards, members of Privinvest, has proudly announced the launch of their first superyacht. At 141 meters, this stunning private yacht ranks as the sixth largest superyacht in the world.

  • Lloyd Werft

Project Solaris is the revolutionary explorer yacht built by German masters of engineering Lloyd Werft. Topping off the yard's record for ultra large luxury yacht build, Project Solaris is an estimated 139m+ explorer yacht at the German giant's shed.

Scheherezade

As with most yachts in construction at Lurssen, little is known about this 140m project. We do not yet know the designer or architect, but she has been spotted moving around the build-hall. Her sightings have lead yacht spotters on the docks of the yard to aptly name her 'Project Lightning.' We hope to see her launch towards the end of 2019.

Ocean Victory

  • Fincantieri Yachts

The largest yacht ever built in Italy and one of the ten largest in the world, Fincantieri has announced the successful delivery of Project Victory - a 140 metre superyacht launched in 2014 - under the official name of Ocean Victory.

Code named as Mipos (short for Mission Possible) during her construction, Al Salamah belongs to Saudi Arabian Defence Minister Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz. Kept a great secret, rumours tell that she has over 80 rooms, a helipad, and an indoor swimming pool complete with glass roof. A real working wonder, this yacht was completed in 1999 after only two years.

89m here comes the sun yacht exterior

The biggest yacht sales of 2023 so far

According to BOATPro , more than €3 billion in sales has been secured so far, including the biggest known brokerage deal in history. We take a look at the most expensive sales of the year.

Ahpo (now Lady Jorgia)

Length: 115m   Builder: Lurssen

The 115-metre Lürssen Ahpo was sold in-house by Moran Yacht & Ship just three months after joining the brokerage market, in what is believed to be the biggest brokerage deal in history. Now been renamed Lady Jorgia , her striking design is the work of Nuvolari Lenard and features her trademark half-moon windows with wide tapered decks. Nature is a dominant theme throughout the yacht and is seen in the central staircase, which depicts an olive tree, and her water lily-themed dining room. A vast beach club and wellness centre is home to a nature-themed spa complete with a massage room, Himalayan salt sauna and a Turkish-style hammam, while a 12-seater cinema with a starlit ceiling offers a different kind of R&R on board.

Ahpo was asking €330,000,000.

Length: 95m Builder: Lürssen

Not every yacht story begins with an owner in the market for a new plane and a boat at the same time, but Madsummer was commissioned in response to this very brief. As a consequence, the 95-metre yacht boasts a dedicated deck for the owner's seaplane, which can be hoisted to and from the water via a crane, hidden in the bulwark. When the aircraft is not present, the space transforms into a dance floor and party space. The yacht – efficient and subtly masculine on the outside with a riot of colour inside thanks to Laura Sessa – was delivered in 2019 and went on to win a Judges’ Commendation at the 2020 World Superyacht Awards . She marks the second 90-metre-plus sale of the year for Moran Yacht & Ship.

Madsummer was asking €227,500,000.

Here Comes the Sun

Length: 89m   Builder: Amels

Here Comes the Sun was sold after just four months on the market, with Fraser representing both seller and buyer. She was jointly listed with Burgess at the time of the sale. Delivered in 2017 as Amels ' flagship (a title held to this day), a full rebuild in 2021 saw a six-metre stern extension courtesy of Azure Naval Architects , the addition of a second helipad, an interior revamp and a repaint. She emerged from the shipyard with a new look, sporting a navy blue hull and ice-white superstructure, and was later awarded a Neptune for Best Rebuilt Yacht at the World Superyacht Awards 2022.

Here Comes the Sun was asking $195,000,000.

Length: 95.2m Builder: Lürssen

The big brokerage news ahead of Monaco Yacht Show 2023 was that Kismet  had sold after five years on the market. She was commissioned by serial superyacht and sports club owner Shahid Khan as a successor to his 68-metre Lürssen. Designed by Espen Øino and easy to spot in a crowded anchorage, she has a champagne hull with a jet-black mast and a pointed bow, graced by a silver jaguar – a nod to Khan's NFL team. Her interior was masterminded by Reymond Langton Design. Highlights include a helipad, firepit, and a grand atrium with an ornate staircase, 350kg Art Deco chandelier and a two-storey video wall. Kismet can sleep up to 16 guests but is said to be able to host up to 270 guests quayside. Kismet was listed for sale Cecil Wright & Partners , with Christie Yachts introducing the buyer.

Kismet was asking €149,900,000.

Length: 75m Builder: Feadship

The 75-metre Feadship Arrow sold within 10 weeks of hitting the brokerage market, with Fraser representing the seller and Kitson Yachts acting on behalf of the buyer. H2 Yacht Design was responsible for her sharp exterior with glass bulwarks enabling sea views. Standout features include her al fresco dining set up on the sundeck, where she hosts a pizza oven and barbecue alongside her fully equipped gym and Jacuzzi. An elevator connects the decks down to the beach club, where a full-service bar, dive store and massage and sauna area are found. Meanwhile, inside, other features include a large-screen cinema. The 1,890 GT yacht can reach up to 17.5 knots, where she benefits from increased efficiency thanks to Feadship’s hybrid technology.

Arrow was asking €139,900,000.

Soaring (now Starlust)

Length: 68.2m  Builder: Abeking & Rasmussen

Abeking & Rasmussen 's Soaring changed hands in March 2023 and has since been renamed Stardust . The original owner wanted an exterior that wouldn’t be mistaken for any other yacht on the horizon, which was achieved through her distinctive pale grey hull and vivid orange boot stripe, a boomerang-like curve of glazing from the wheelhouse windows down to the upper deck, and scalloped windows that punctuate the bow. Accommodation is for 12 guests spanning six cabins with a rear-facing owner's cabin that looks out over a private aft deck, and its own observation lounge forward. The sale was secured by Ocean Independence .

Soaring was asking €88,000,000.

Length: 60m Builder: Heesen

Heesen’s largest steel superyacht to date, the 60-metre Lusine, was newly delivered in 2022. At this year’s World Superyacht Awards, she picked up a Judges Commendation in the Displacement Motor Yacht category. Lusine accommodates up to 16 guests through her lunar-inspired interior from Sinot Design & Architecture . The private owner's suite sits on the upper deck for ultimate privacy. Further up on the aft sundeck, guests can benefit from a touch-and-go helipad, while a grand staircase and lift connect all her decks. The sale was secured in a combined deal with Fraser introducing the buyer and Burgess and KAYZ Marine acting on behalf of the seller.

Lusine was asking $82,000,000.

Lady Jorgia (now Andrea)

Length: 74m  Builder: CRN

The biggest known off-market deal closed this year was sealed by Edmiston for the 74-metre Lady Jorgia . While the asking price was not disclosed, she was sold as Odyessy in 2020 and was, at the time, asking €84,000,000. The CRN superyacht was built under the name Cloud 9 and delivered in 2017 with an exterior by Zuccon International Project and an interior by British studio Winch Design . Across her five decks, open-air spaces include a private deck forward of the owner's suite, a main deck pool lounge with a glass-bottomed, 10,000-litre swimming pool, and a large beach club with an espresso bar. Ideal for hosting at-anchor parties, the foredeck can be transformed into a dancefloor when the helipad is not in use, or set up as a cabana with loungers placed beneath an awning.

Lady Jorgia's sale price was not disclosed.

Ragnar (now Q )

Length: 68m Builder: Royal Niestern Sander

The 68.2-metre explorer yacht Ragnar was sold by Arcon Yachts , with FGI Yacht Group representing the buyer. Originally built as an ice-breaking multipurpose supply vessel in 2012, Ragnar was transformed into a world-girdling expedition yacht by Icon Yachts in Holland to a design by RWD and delivered in 2020. Her exterior is said to have been inspired by a medieval Viking helmet, while her interior takes cues from cosy ski chalets, Scottish castles and classic British pubs. Leisure highlights include a spa, wine cellar, and an open-air top deck with a barbecue and seating area.

Ragnar was asking €69,500,000.

Solo (now Quantum of Solace )

Length: 72m Builder: Tankoa Yachts

The sale of Tankoa's flagship superyacht Solo was closed in May with Edmiston representing both buying and selling parties. Solo is based on the same platform as Tankoa's Suerte but her three metres of extra length allowed her to gain volume on every deck with the help of designer Francesco Paszkowski . On board, she features every conceivable luxury – six cabins, a beach club, saltwater pool, two spa pools, 18 crew and a tropical fish aquarium designed to keep the water still even as the yacht moves. Yet Italian classification society RINA has bestowed Solo with its Green Plus Platinum notation, the highest level of its environmental certification.

Solo was asking €66,000,000.

Sarafsa (now Pure)

Length: 82m  Builder: Devonport Yachts

After less than a year on the brokerage market, the 82-metre Sarafsa was sold with Burgess and renamed Pure . Sarafsa was built for a member of the Saudi Arabian royal family and is the second-largest yacht built by British shipyard Devonport Yachts . The 3,200GT superyacht was delivered in 2008 but her interior remained a mystery until she publically joined the brokerage market in 2021, when her rich furnishings and brocades were revealed to the world. Standout features include an explosion-proof garage large enough to house six Jet Skis, tenders and a Mini Moke cark and a two-storey owner's apartment. Pure is now undergoing a major refit with her new owner managed by JMS Yachting.

Sarafsa was asking €65,000,000.

Length: 65m Builder: Feadship

First launched in 2006, the 65-metre Feadship joined the market for the first time after a multi-million euro refit that spanned almost a year. Callisto benefitted from major technical improvements as well as a fresh coat of paint. With an interior from Terence Disdale , the upgrades instilled her classic elegance. The 1,306GT yacht can accommodate 12 guests across six cabins with a full beam owners suite including a large office, his and her bathrooms and a walk-in dressing room. Other standout features include a gym and a sundeck with a dip pool.

Callisto was asking €46,000,000.

Azamat Murzakanov (beat Menifield yesterday) from Nalchik in Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia

Purple Belt

I found Murzakanov's performance against Menifield to be quite brutal, and the dude seems extremely legit. I have read Murzakanov is from Nalchik in Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia. It is a small Russian republic near Georgia, which is also almost entirely Muslim, comprised of Kabardians who are "One of the 12 Circassian tribes". This interested me because his style and appearance is similar to the many Dagestani Russian fighters of which there are too many to list. Also I am aware of Russian Muslim fighters coming from Chechnya like Chimaev, but I have never heard of fighters coming from Kabardino-Balkaria, or to be honest I was not familiar with the notion of Kabardians or Circassian tribes until I did some reading after watching Murzakanov's fight. My question is, does anyone know any info about Murzakanov, Kabardians, Circassian tribes etc? Are they pretty much very similar to Dagestanis or are they different in some distinct ways? That part of the world between Georgia and Russia seems a very interesting little area where there is some very rich culture and a lot of stuff going on. Sorry for the long post, interested in any comments from my fellow Sherdoggers. EDIT: I might just add, is there an MMA scene in Nalchik? Any other fighters from that region?

Common Traits Across the North Caucasus:

  • Wrestling Base: Like Dagestani fighters, many athletes from Kabardino-Balkaria, Chechnya, and other North Caucasus regions have a strong background in wrestling, especially freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, which are popular in this area.
  • Sambo and Judo: These disciplines are also commonly practiced, with many fighters transitioning from these sports into MMA, similar to their Dagestani counterparts.
  • Cultural Emphasis on Combat Sports: The North Caucasus has a deep-rooted tradition of combat sports, with societal respect and support for wrestlers and fighters. This is also a key characteristic of Dagestani fighters.

Differences:

  • Ethnic and Cultural Identity: While Dagestani fighters are often Avar, Dargin, or of other Dagestani ethnicities, fighters from Kabardino-Balkaria might be Kabardian, Balkar, or Circassian. This influences their cultural identity and sometimes their fighting style, though the differences are subtle.
  • Specific Training Focus: Fighters from different regions might emphasize different aspects of training due to local traditions or coaching preferences. For example, some Circassian fighters might have a strong background in traditional wrestling forms like Circassian Kuresh, which can influence their grappling approach in MMA.
  • Representation in MMA: While Dagestani fighters are highly prominent in MMA (with fighters like Khabib Nurmagomedov bringing international attention to the region), fighters from Kabardino-Balkaria and Circassian tribes are less well-known but still making their mark. Azamat Murzakanov, for instance, is a fighter from Kabardino-Balkaria competing in the UFC.

Notable Fighters:

  • Azamat Murzakanov: From Kabardino-Balkaria, he has been making a name for himself in the UFC with a strong grappling and striking base.
  • Imam Shamilov: A Circassian fighter with a strong wrestling and combat sambo background.

Overall, while there are many similarities due to shared regional training practices and combat sports traditions, there are also unique cultural and stylistic elements that distinguish fighters from different North Caucasus ethnic groups. Ashmouz is Circassian (his ancestors moved from Russia to Ottoman Empire and nowadays this territory is Israel). In other promotions I think there is Berkhamov in Bellator, Tokov brothers is Balkar through their mother, there were Dugulubgov in WSOF or PFL and founder/owner of K-Dojo gym in New Jersey is Circassian and his nephew was an mma fighter.

I feel like Husky needs to aware of this tism that is going on in this thread.

I’m been very impressed with Murzakanov’s last few fights, I think he’ll make waves in the division. I believe that Circassia was a Christian kingdom on the Black Sea that got conquered by the Ottoman Empire back in the day. Think Circassia or their royalty was related to the Byzantine Empire too. I don’t feel like looking it up to be sure though.

Literally just said " they are similar because they are from similar parts of the world that emphasize martial arts and especially wrestling." And "they are different ethnicities and there are more Dagestanis in MMA" Wow what a break through lol . Not saying this is necessarily the case here, but Chat GPT and similar AI programs have been known to just literally make shit up ha. Like when asked medical questions it can spit out fancy sounding medical advice/analysis that's actually just complete world salad bullshit with no consistently logical thread . This is because these "AI" programs aren't actually what most people would call "AI" . They are just advanced algorithms that compile information, but they have no base logic or perspective to center reality . For instance if you ask an AI "what would it take to carry the San Francisco bridge to New York" , some programs will try and answer it , obviously this is an illogical question. Nothing with "intelligence" would try and answer that question. Or if you ask it "what's the perspective of a ham sandwich" it will try and describe what it's like to be a ham sandwich lol . They are just blank input algorithms with powerful computing. That's why "AI" has become bigger as GPU's get more powerful, it's just raw data being able to be read extremely quickly, it's nothing resembling conscious intellect. Click to expand...

The state of the ai super cycle - nvidia, apple, and the overall demand for ai.

The NVIDIA logo and the Apple logo are being pictured in Hangzhou, China, on June 6, 2024. On June ... [+] 5, Eastern time, Nvidia's stock market value is exceeding $3 trillion, officially surpassing Apple's market value and becoming the world's second largest technology giant by market value. It is worth noting that in just over 3 months, Nvidia's market value is soaring from $2 trillion to $3 trillion. (Photo by Costfoto/NurPhoto via Getty Images)

After a few tough days in the market to start off September, there is another wave of ramblings and musings as to whether the AI super cycle is over? And if not, what’s left and where do we go from here?

Despite its recent pull backs and the challenging news cycle it has faced, I would argue so far it has only been an NVIDIA super cycle in terms of money being made, with adjacent winners in the chipmaking and design space like TSMC, Synopsys, Micron Technology, Arm, and a few others.

Granted, we’ve seen some pops in companies like Dell Inc. and Super Micro Computer Inc. based on big upticks in AI optimized server sales, but those gains somewhat faded as margin pressure and the “buy up anything with AI” exuberance settled momentarily.

Meanwhile, SaaS companies have had some good days here and there, but few are convinced these companies are going to get incremental growth from AI. And while software will be the ultimate AI consumption layer, it hasn’t yet proven its economics to the market in terms of incremental revenue and customer adoption—time will tell.

We are seeing some promising numbers from consultants and systems integrators like IBM and Accenture on sprawling generative AI projects and some indicators from large financial services companies and healthcare/drug companies that AI is going to deliver efficiency and value to their businesses, but it hasn’t really shown in the numbers yet.

Goldman Sachs Issues Huge Fed Crash Warning As A Legendary Trader Suddenly Flips His Bitcoin Price Prediction

Apple iphone 16: unexpected design change leaked in new report, northern lights alert: solar activity surges to strongest for 23 years.

Cloud companies and hyperscalers are investing in the future, as are the largest enterprises. While NVIDIA has seen its profits and revenue soar, companies like Advanced Micro Devices Inc. are next in line to benefit yet are really only making a small dent at the moment.

Then there is a collection of companies just trying to find their place in the AI race. We know the AI device (handsets and PCs) cycle has been a bit slower and that incremental growth of SaaS from AI is showing signs of life from the likes of ServiceNow Inc., Salesforce Inc., and CrowdStrike Inc., who are proving AI can provide stickiness and drive growth on the top and bottom lines. Things have only just begun here.

It all begs the question: Did the markets get ahead of themselves with AI and chips makers? And are those stocks overvalued?

Clearly the market is coping with a digestion period for AI as we examine the bull thesis of cloud capex accelerating regardless of broader monetization. Contrast that against the background of AI proliferation and consumption being somewhat slower than some had hoped.

We have seen recent earnings reports where companies like Walmart Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. are beginning to explain how AI is improving supply chains and reducing developer costs considerably. Seeing these types of AI consumption for business efficiency and productivity gains will offset some of the concerns about long-term value.

Furthermore, chief executives of the largest NVIDIA customers, who represent more than 45% of its revenue, with a single customer allegedly at 19% , largely shrugged off concerns there is a bubble.

This is where the digestion period becomes an important debate. Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft Corp. CEO Satya Nadella, and Alphabet Inc. CEO Sundar Pichai all pointed out they have no plan to slow investments. And while that may frustrate those looking for more conservative capex, these companies are thinking long-term sustainability.

For NVIDIA, this bodes well because competitiveness means moving from generation to generation, from a strong Hopper cycle to a stronger Blackwell cycle and Rubin after that.

Market reaction to NVIDIA’s results in late August suggests the company did what was expected after bullish investors considered the buy side whisper numbers, which were bigger than the ultimate guide.

Apple’s AI Play: The Big Reveal on Sept. 9

So, let’s pivot a bit here and look at Apple. Is there any sort of “Super Wave” in tech when Apple doesn’t participate? At the very least, Apple will play a role as an accelerant for the trend toward AI and that may come in the form of products, partnerships, software and apps, and of course driving demand and sentiment from its massive user base. So, as we head into the big Apple event , what should investors and consumers expect from Apple’s AI offerings?

First and foremost, Apple Siri will become usable. While Apple has been more methodical in its AI strategy, one of the biggest opportunities for the company was to re-introduce Siri and make it something the iPhone install base genuinely wants to use.

Given the symbiotic relationship between people and their devices, delivering an OS level assistant that has high fidelity and robust ecosystem integration will be priceless in driving an upgrade cycle.

What is more, delivering native AI in core productivity apps (+Siri) will be invaluable. Calendar and email come to mind. Being able to write thoughtful emails that sound in our voices transcribed from Siri or having it know which items across our messaging apps require prioritization will be important to expediting the next big super cycle for handsets.

To be clear, it isn’t unique to Apple. These kinds of advanced functions being seamless from device to device should drive growth across the Apple portfolio and bode well for Qualcomm Inc., Android, and the broader OEMs making Copilot+PC, AI PC, and next-generation handsets.

Which company/companies will “win” the AI race? Will it be a private one like OpenAI or will a mega-cap tech name surge ahead?

There really isn’t one AI race being run.

We have the infrastructure build-out race, which is fueled by NVIDIA and its ecosystem. Then we have the cloud development and services build out and this right now is a toss-up as Microsoft, Google, and AWS battle with the likes of Oracle Corp. and several AI cloud providers (CoreWeave, Lambda).

There is a chip race that looks to capitalize on the inference pivot, but also vertical integration with Google, Microsoft, AWS, and Meta building their own chips. We have specialty AI chip companies as well.

And we still must solve a power issue. That will come from efficient chip designs, thermal management and cooling technologies, and on-device capabilities to reduce strain on networks.

So, while some may think that AI is overcooked, or that the very recent pull back on NVIDIA is a sign of AI fading or losing steam. And still others may think this alleged (and then not so much) antitrust probe from the DOJ is going to be a setback for not just NVIDIA but AI as a whole. To that, I would suggest it is really early for AI – for NVIDIA and even more so for AI opportunities beyond it.
