Founded in 1945, the Kelowna Yacht Club is located in the heart of Downtown Kelowna. With a new clubhouse built in 2014, the club is situated alongside Okanagan Lake. It is within walking distance from all major tourist attractions including the Delta Grand Hotel and Casino, Prospera Place Arena, the Downtown Boardwalk and many parks and beaches.

The newly built clubhouse boasts the largest patio in the Okanagan, with stunning lake and mountain views. The Restaurant and Lounge offer an upscale-casual dining experience perfect for celebrating an occasion or enjoying a fireside drink with friends. Five private meeting rooms are available for rent, including a Boardroom and two event spaces with patios overlooking the lake. Guest moorage is available in the Club basin, as well as sailboat, kayak and paddleboard rentals.

  • Dress Code No formal dress code applies. Gentlemen patrons of the Members Lounge are not permitted to wear hats while in the Members Lounge.
  • Age Restriction Guests under the age of nineteen are welcome to the club, however are not permitted to be in the Members Lounge after 10:00p.m. even when accompanied by an adult.
  • Dogs Pets, with the exception of service animals, are not permitted in the Club.
  • Smoking The club is non-smoking.

Enjoy stunning views at West Kelowna's premiere facility

The West Kelowna Yacht Club has great facilities for up to 149 people for meetings, weddings, birthday parties and more. The Club was largely renovated in 2014 with new floors, ceilings, walls, lighting and bar furniture. The Bar was redesigned and now has two serving locations. Information about renting the facility for special events is located here.

The Club is used for regular meetings of the West Kelowna Rotary Association, The Kinsmen Club of Westbank, and Okanagan Business Excellence.

The Clubhouse Includes

  • Commercial gas stove
  • Large island for food preparation
  • Serving window into the dining area
  • Serving plates, cups, cutlery, and coffee pot
  • The venue seats 149 people with a full outside deck with barbeques and a great view of the marina and lake
  • Brand new sound system with outside speakers and a high quality wireless microphone
  • Three TVs that can be used to play sports, or one that will play a DVD
  • Music from your own CDs or audio source (iPod, iPhone, iPad, MP3 player etc)
  • Large windows with a panoramic view of the Okanagan Lake
  • Beautiful brand new hardwood flooring and air conditioning
  • We offer a fully stocked bar with competitive bar prices
  • For an extra cost not included in the venue rental, we offer table cloths, cloth napkins and slip covers
  • Plenty of parking, but can still get crowded on those summer weekends

The History

Westbank Yacht Club Original Logo

It all started when the Department of Transport built a breakwater in Gellatly Bay for the moorage of pleasure boats for the Westbank area. A local group was required, such as a Yacht Club to take care of the moorage and build a walkway to connect the breakwater to the shore.

In 1962, thirteen enthusiastic boaters gathered to form the Westbank Yacht Club.

Permission was received from the Parks Board to use a small house located in the park directly across the road from the breakwater, for the club house. The members painted the exterior and fixed up the interior a little but the members were not happy with the old house.

On New Years Day in 1965 the M.V. Pendozi sank at the C.N. wharf in Kelowna. It was a clear day, slightly below zero with a strong wind creating waves to wash onto the car deck and turn to ice, weighting the ship lower in the water. The engines had been removed from the engine room but the cooling discharge ports were left open. Water poured in and it quietly sank... read more

The Kelowna Yacht Club is currently accepting applications for Regular, Junior, Intermediate, and Corporate memberships. A waitlist for future moorage is available upon joining for our Regular and Corporate memberships. To start the application process, please complete our Inquiry Form here.

Get the full club experience.

Regular membership is perfect for the person who has a boat or is wishing to have a boat in the future. This membership also has full clubhouse privileges. Our Regular Members are eligible to add a spouse and their children under the age of 19, hold a moorage slip in our secure facilities, as well as having voting privileges.

One-time Initiation Fee: $11,000 (Can be split into 2 installments)

Annual Dues: *^$1,330

*Includes a $500 prepaid house account (MHA) ^Offering prorated dues for your first membership year, contact us for current rates

You don’t need to be a boater to enjoy the club. Lifestyle memberships are designed for those who want to enjoy the facility, special events, and dining with an amazing view. On-the-dock kayak and paddleboard storage are available to get you out on the water, either on your own paddle vessel or a rental from the Club.

The Club was largely renovated in 2014 with new floors, ceilings, walls, lighting and bar furniture. The Bar was redesigned and now has two serving locations.
