Lil Yachty calls out Karrahboo and Mitch during explosive Instagram Live

In a recent Instagram Live session, Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty unleashed a torrent of accusations against his former collaborator Karrahboo and his podcast cohost Mitch. The unexpected outburst has sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community, particularly among fans of Yachty’s A Safe Place podcast.

Karrahboo’s departure from Concrete Boys

Yachty began by addressing the rumors surrounding Karrahboo’s exit from the rap collective Concrete Boys. He accused her of verbally abusing others and criticized her for making a scene about her departure. “Don’t get on here and make a scene ‘bout n—-s kicked you out,” he stated, highlighting the sudden nature of her exit.

Claims of support and betrayal

During the live stream, Yachty claimed he was instrumental in Karrahboo’s rise, stating, “I wrote every f—ing verse you’ve done.” He detailed how he provided her with financial support and jewelry and even styled her. Yachty expressed frustration over her alleged disrespectful behavior toward others, saying, “You talk to people crazy. You tell people that they are nothing.”

Concerning financial accusations

One of the most alarming claims made by Yachty was that Karrahboo is in debt to him for $900,000. “I got every receipt. $900,000 Concrete in the hole,” he asserted, raising eyebrows about the financial dynamics within their collective.

Addressing Mitch and podcast dynamics

Yachty didn’t stop with Karrahboo; he also directed his ire toward Mitch, claiming that the podcast was started at Mitch’s insistence. Lil Yachty Leaks Reference Track For Karrahbooo's "On The Radar" Freestyle

Lil Yachty was not playing around on Thursday night. The rapper decided to stop playing nice with his former signee, Karrahbooo, and put her on blast. He not only hopped on Instagram Live to call her out for being "verbally abusive," but he pulled the rug out from her in terms of writing ability. Lil Yachty claimed that he wrote all of Karrahbooo's verses when she was with Concrete Boys. This includes verses on her albums and EPs, as well as freestyles. Fans were understandably shocked by this claim, but Yachty went and provided evidence.

Lil Yachty leaked the reference track for Karrahbooo's "On the Radar" freestyle within hours of his rant. The freestyle is nearly identical, give or take a few pauses. It's a bit hard to make out everything that Lil Boat is saying, but the flow and the instrumental are identical. It's damning evidence, with regards to the notion that Lil Yachty has been propping Karrahbooo's career up. The reference track was just the tip of the iceberg, though. The rapper claimed that Karrahbooo was actually $900K in the hole with him, and needs to quiet down before he starts dropping receipts.

Lil Yachty Claims Karrahbooo Owns Him $900K

Lil Yachty responded to a rumor that he'd been stealing money from Karrahbooo, so he felt compelled to state that the opposite is true. "This the problem with you new artists," the rapper said during his IG rant. "Y'all get popping online, and then you become more popular than your actual music." Yachty went on to claim that Karrahbooo owed him, in both exposure and in dollars. "You $900K in the hole," he revealed. "And I got every f*cking receipt, and Ima post it, I dare you, try me." Lil Yachty also threatened to reveal how much Karrahbooo has made via streaming, which he implies is minuscule compared to what he's owed.

"Nobody would even know who the f*ck Karrahbooo was if it wasn't for me," Lil Yachty asserted. "I've been nothing but loving and caring... I paid your bills and gave you money." The rapper completed his rant by getting aggressive and expressing confusion over Karrahbooo's arrogance. "What the f*ck are we even talking about, bro," he asked. Karrahbooo has yet to respond to Lil Yachty's rant, but the leak, coupled with the claims of owed money, do not look good for her. The situation continues to get more and more messy.

“Slide” is a follow-up to Yachty’s most recent album Let’s Start Here . The 14-track project made landfall in January 2023 and housed guest appearances from Fousheé, Justine Skye, Teezo Touchdown, Diana Gordon, and Daniel Caesar.

Fans hoping to catch a live show from the “Poland” rapper are in luck, as he is heading out on his headlining tour this fall. The Field Trip Tour is set to kick off on Sept. 21 in Washington, D.C., and will hit major cities like Montreal, Boston, Toronto, Las Vegas, and more. The trek will come to a close with a finale show in Atlanta on Nov. 8.

Outside of his own releases, the Georgia-raised spitter can be heard dropping guest verses on recent tracks like “Taylor Port Junkie” by Rylo Rodriguez and “Boat Interlude” by Veeze. He’s also been having fun making surprise appearances on Drake’s current It’s All A Blur Tour.

Meet Giovanna, the Woman on Lil Yachty’s “Slide” Single Cover

Meet Giovanna Ramos, the woman who is on the cover of Lil Yachty's "Slide" single and in the music video.

Lil Yachty has been known to flex his canary yellow grills, and did so on the cover of his recent single “Strike (Holster).” Now, he tapped Ari Mairena-Dannon , also known as AMD Visuals, who has been working on several of his music videos lately, to snap a shot of someone else’s mouthpiece, too, for his latest track “Slide.”

The smile in question belongs to Atlanta-based model  Giovanna Ramos . Ramos has several previous shoots with other grill pictures on her portfolio that mirror the bright, zoomed-in aesthetic that Yachty has been utilizing.

“Slide,” “Solo Steppin Crete Boy,” and “Strike (Holster)” all share a new kinetic energy that Lil Yachty has been harnessing lately. This energy is predicated on slippery lyrical pockets, smooth cadences, and wall-rattling beats that highlight his ear for production and maintain his abilities as a rapper.

“There are a lot of times where he gets an idea or he makes a song and he wants to film it right there and then,” AMD Visuals says. “I always think to myself that if he wasn’t an artist, he would be an amazing director. He really has an eye for things, and truthfully, he pushes me to see things in a different perspective.”

So how did Ramos get involved with Yachty? And why was she the perfect match for this project? In conversation with Ramos and “Slide” video director AMD Visuals, we find out where the grill came from, how the music video came together, and more. The model on the cover of “Slide” and featured in the music video is Giovanna Ramos, a creative based in Atlanta.

“I started modeling in 2019 a few months before the pandemic,” she tells Complex. “I had just moved back to NYC and decided that I would give it a shot and see where it takes me… Honestly, I just like to have fun with [modeling], I think the best part about modeling is that I’m 100 percent myself and that might be the reason I grew my socials so fast and people fuck with me so hard.”

How did she connect with Lil Yachty?

Ramos says that she and Yachty only connected a few months ago after she moved to Atlanta, but bonded immediately with each other and formed a close friendship. A few months later, she got an impromptu message to come out and be a part of the “Slide” music video.

“I genuinely did not know I was going to be the cover for these projects,” Ramos explains about her involvement in the “Slide” visuals. “[Yachty] sent me ‘Slide’ a while back and I kept telling him almost every day like ‘Bro this is my favorite song right now’ and then a few months later he hit me up saying ‘Come over tomorrow, we shooting the video’ and I was super excited. Like a week later he said he was dropping the songs. I went to sleep early on Thursday and woke up to him sending me a screenshot of the project and I was literally screaming. Man, I love him, forever thankful for that for real.”

How did the “Slide” music video come together?

The music video for “Slide” jumps from Poland to London and eventually lands with Yachty and his friends in his car in Atlanta. AMD Visuals explains how each of the different scenes in the video came together.

“We started filming the first scenes in Poland,” he says. “We had just arrived there at night and he told me he wanted to shoot a video. It was kind of late at night already so we just decided to shoot in his hotel room. From there we went to London and shot some more scenes. I wanted one more scene though, so we decided to shoot with his new car in ATL. We were using the resources we had available at the moment. The idea for the cover art came naturally too; I knew I wanted his close friend, Gio, to be in the video. Gio brings so much character and adds a nice element to the project.”

Ramos adds that the video shoot itself was chill and spontaneous as well. “He had basically did a barbecue, invited the guys over, we shot the video, ate, and that was pretty much it.”
