The Corinthian Yacht Club started life a long way from Cowes, at Erith, Kent, where it was founded in 1872. It operated from a number of locations on the East Coast of England before settling in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, where it received its Royal Warrant in 1892 and where the 'Northern' branch of the Club continues to thrive to this day.

The Club offers the membership and visiting yachtsman a variety of social spaces, including the Clubhouse, Marquee and Cavern Bar. We are one of the only sailing clubs in Cowes able to offer outdoor seating next to our berthing, and during the summer months we are able to provide plenty of seating, which is ideal for socialising after sailing and catching up with other members.
Our Clubhouse and bar which is the hub of the Club and which is open during weekday evenings and longer during weekends - cosy in winter, light and airy in summer, plus we are able to spread outside as well. The bar stocks most of the things that you would expect to find including some very good reasonably priced wines, and some real ales which are very popular. When we have other events or functions on site, this area is mainly for Members so that guests at functions can enjoy their own space.
We have refurbished The Cavern and this along with our marquee provides a very versatile space for many kinds of activities. We hold the larger dinners there, use it for meetings, including the AGM, for courses, and we can use it as an additional lounge and bar either as well as the main clubhouse, or separately for functions such as Class dinners, prize givings, or wedding receptions. The space is flexible and the uses are numerous, with or without the bar.
