For year now, Rolex sailing competitions across the globe have united the top sailors in different boat classes. From the impressive fast-paced SailGP Grand Prixes to the long-distance Rolex Fastnet Race, there is a different competition for all. 

Rolex Spirit of Yachting collects the best moments, most emblematic venues and distinguished personalities together under the same show to rewatch the best moments of important sailing competitions all over the world. 

Get ready to splash into the Giraglia Cup action, jump onboard in the Middle Sea Race or set sail into the unknown Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race.

Season 2022

Rolex Spirit of Yachting 2022 has started with a big bang: we are in the Australia Sail Grand Prix about to live the magic of the end of Season 2 in SailGP. Crews fight for the first spot in their flying catamarans, reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h. A single mistake means staying out of competition, and with 1 million euros at stake, everyone wants to give their all.

The Rolex TP52 World Championship is considered the crown of monohull grand prix competition. The 2022 edition of this annual event, partnered by Rolex since 2017, gathered nine teams from six countries and a selection of elite sailors for five days of dramatic and captivating competition in Cascais, Portugal.

Season 2017

GIRAGLIA ROLEX CUP.

2017 celebrates the 65th edition of the Giraglia Rolex Cup, one of the most famous offshore races in the yachting calendar. Conceived just after the end of World War II, to promote friendship between France and Italy, the action starts in the historic port

of St Tropez with three days of inshore racing. Then follows the main event, a 243 nautical mile charge across the Mediterranean to Genoa, Italy, passing the iconic Giraglia Rock on the way.

ROLEX FARR 40 WORLDS.

The Farr 40 celebrates its 25th anniversary this year in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, a breathtaking, classic backdrop for any regatta. This is one design class sailing at its finest, four days of thrilling, dramatic, competitive action, which throws together an intriguing mix of amateur and top professional sailors, all desperately competing to become Farr 40 World Champions.

ROLEX FASTNET RACE.

This is a sporting institution, 340 boats on a 603 nautical mile charge, battling whatever weather conditions are thrown at them, as they make their way across the ocean from Cowes, to the symbol of the race, the Fastnet Rock, before heading back to Plymouth.

This race first conceived in 1925 is the ultimate test of both inshore and offshore sailing skills and is unquestionably one of the greatest events in the international yachting calendar.

MAXI YACHT ROLEX.

Costa Smeralda – the Emerald Coast – once again provides a stunning backdrop, with a variety of challenging conditions, for the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, a highlight of the Mediterranean yachting season. Each September a fleet of the world’s most

elegant, powerful and spectacular yachts gather to battle for one of yachting’s most revered and celebrated competitions, with the coveted World Championship the focal point of the week.

ROLEX MIDDLE SEA RACE.

The Rolex Middle Sea Race takes place in October, in the heart of the Mediterranean, the final event of the European sailing season. Starting in the historic setting of Valletta’s Grand Harbour, the fleet travels through probably the most visually stunning course in the world, as it makes its way around Sicily. Along the 606 nautical mile journey, sights include, the Strait of Messina, the azure clear waters of Sicily, the Islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa and the ultimate highlight, the active volcano of Stromboli, before returning to Malta. Tactically demanding, with famously changeable weather conditions, this is a classic test of seamanship.

ROLEX SYDNEY HOBART YACHT RACE.

The definitive blue water classic, which for more than 70 years has enticed, captivated and challenged sailors from around the world. The Rolex Sydney Hobart Race is a 628 nautical mile sailing adventure full of drama, spectacle and camaraderie. The Boxing Day start from Sydney Harbour, watched by hundreds of thousands of festive spectators, is one of the sports iconic sights

Rolex China Sea Race.

First contested in 1962, the biennial Rolex China Sea race is now one of the most anticipated Asian blue-water events. Starting in Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong, and traversing the Southern China Sea to finish in Subic Bay, in the Philippines, the race measures 565 nautical miles. With huge challenges awaiting the international fleet, the race demands skill, determination, and stamina.

Les Voiles de St Tropez.

Marking the end of the Mediterranean yachting season, Les Voiles de Saint Tropez will be back for its 20th edition. Close to 4,000 sailors and more than 300 sailing yachts will gather in St Tropez in early autumn for an action-packed programme of competitive racing and lively social events.

Rolex Middle Sea race.

A record breaking fleet embarks on the 50th anniversary Rolex Middle Sea Race. 130 yachts representing 29 countries, uniting seasoned campaigners, intrepid first timers and those drawn back to Malta after decade long absences will all take part in this unique event. A race truly defined by dedication, perseverance and spirit.

The Rolex Giraglia is one of the most famous offshore Mediterranean races in the yachting calendar. It has been held annually since 1953 and has been conceived to promote friendship between France and Italy, with 2019 celebrating the 67th edition. The action starts in the historic port of St Tropez with three days of inshore racing. Then the fleet will embark on a 243-nautical mile offshore race to Genoa, Italy via the Giraglia, a rocky outcrop off the northern tip of Corsica to then finish in its traditional destination, Genoa.

The Fastnet Race takes place every two years over a course of 608 nautical miles and it’s named after the Fastnet Rock, in the south of Ireland, which the race course rounds. From its inception in 1925, the race has proven highly influential in the growth of offshore racing, and remains the ultimate test of both inshore and offshore sailing skills.

Starting from Cowes and finishing in Plymouth, due to the succession of low pressure systems typical of the English Channel, the Rolex Fastnet Race is considered a challenging race, unquestionably one of the greatest events in the international yachting calendar.

The TP52 in Europe has come a very long way since it was designed to a box rule to produce a series of evenly matched lightweight high performance flying machines for the Transpac Race from Los Angeles to Hawaii. In 2005 a group of renowned owners chose to build TP52’s to develop a new high performance class which led to the creation of the Rolex TP52 World Championship. The Rolex TP52 World Championship has become the de-facto top monohull inshore race class in the world appealing to the very top level professional sailors, discerning owners and teams.
