I was super excited to try this casino cruise. You make the reservation online and have to get there 30 minutes before boarding to hold your reservation. Upon entering, we were guided where to park and we had a man pick us up in a golf cart to take us to boarding. I thought that was very nice and everyone was friendly until then. The employees do not really seem to be happy when people ask any questions as they probably get asked the same questions over and over. But for someone who is a first time guest, they could be a little more patient. Once you enter, you get your card and can go to any of the 3 floors. Floors 2 and 3 have outside seating. There is a dining area on Floor 2. It was like a cafeteria with sub par service and dirty tables. I truthfully felt like I was on a greyhound bus. The food is super reasonable at $10/meal with a very limited selection. If you are vegan, or vegetarian have fun trying to figure that out. Alcoholic drinks are also very reasonable. The place just felt dirty and had such a wide variety of patrons. I got sick immediately and no one seemed to care that worked there or offered any help. They do have Dramamine if needed but one of the employees told me "it won't work". Thankfully I didn't listen to him and still took it. It did take the sickness away alittle. There are only 4 chairs that recline and they were occupied the whole time by the same people. Two of those people were sleeping. For $20. You get a nice 5 hour cruise into the ocean. But, I don't have any intent to go back again. It felt trashy and just overall boring.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback about your recent experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the aspects of your visit that did not meet your expectations. Your comments are invaluable to us. We are pleased to hear that you found the initial stages of your experience, such as the parking assistance and the friendliness of our staff upon arrival, to be positive. We understand that first-time guests may have many questions, and we will address your concerns with our team. Sometimes our staff have a short time before our casino opens to clean and if the weather is bad there will be extra cleaning required. As for the food options, all of our food is freshly made on the boat and therefore what’s included can be adjusted to each person’s taste. If you are vegetarian or vegan you can ask our dining staff for a vegetarian sandwich or a salad. We also regret to hear about your experience with seasickness and the limited availability of reclining chairs. Unfortunately, our yacht is not large enough to comfortably fit more chairs on the upper deck. In regards to the Dramamine we recommend taking that earlier rather than later so that you are able to enjoy the full experience. Thank you again for your review. We hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future to provide you with a more enjoyable experience. If you have any further suggestions or would like to discuss your visit in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.

Nothing wrong with a little bit of fun out in the sea There is a$20 free to go on board but u must make a reservation but they do as have walk in as well but there is no guarantee you will get in the have a few table games and a lot of slot machines they have about 8 blackjack with a few of them being $10 minimum bet

Floor lol

Literally a scam. Big M is a totally unregulated fraud scheme. They can set the slot machines to any winning percentage they want and even choose when a machine will hit. You're more likely to win flushing your money down the toilet. That's why you see the same plants winning "jackpots" over and over again. Even worse, I caught the Big M intentionally planting bad players at the table games to disrupt the blackjack tables. The casino was very busy and there was a waiting list to get on a table. Yet, the plants were able to float around from table to table making incredibly stupid bets (like splitting 2's when the dealer was showing a 9, hitting on 15 when the dealer was showing a 6, etc). I asked to move to another table, but was told there were no spots available (yet the plants floated between 3 tables). When I questioned why the dealer was not helping the players, I was told to shut up and worry about my own hand by the pit boss. When I showed frustration after these plants ruined the table 11 times in 15 minutes by making very unfavorable/odd bets (e.g., splitting 7's when the dealer was showing a face card, hitting on 15 when the dealer was showing a 6, etc.) and taking bust cards from the dealer, I was called racist names like "cracker" and "white boy" among other insults by the plants. Meanwhile, the dealer was doing very sketchy things. He spilled a shoe all over the table, gathered them up and dealt them after the table saw half the deck. He waived off players requesting hits and would not take corrective action. The dealer would claim he had "21" on every hand playing it off as a joke, then gather up the cards quickly before the table could count what he really had. Multiple times players disputed that they did not lose the hand and the dealer refused to replace the gathered-up cards on the table. At one point, the dealer directed one plant that he needed to "communicate" with another plant at the other end of the table. When I finally got up and left, I was verbally insulted by Big M's plants. The pit boss came running from 20 yards away and screamed at me "they can bet however they want." Why would the first words out of her mouth be to defend the plants rather than try to figure out what the plants were jawing at me about???? It was clearly a set up and a fraud. I'm a well-known poker and blackjack player. Apparently they realized I was on to their scam and 15 minutes later while I was sitting upstairs in the restaurant, I was roughed up by two security guards (both looked like they were fresh off parole) and told not to come back. At this point, I was trapped on the boat fearing for my safety for another hour after being threatened and assaulted by the two Big M casino goons. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy! Totally rigged!!! Be smart, avoid the Big M.

The Big M Casino operates over 29 years in this business and we go all by the rules. This person’s all accusations are totally false. He was verbally abusive towards our guests and staff. After several of warnings, we had to ban him from coming to our business in the future because he was continually disturbing our players and staff. It is impossible for any casino, including ours, to alter the winning percentages or outcomes of the games arbitrarily. The notion of "plants" repeatedly winning jackpots is unfounded. All winners are genuine patrons, and each jackpot win is subject to thorough verification by our staff. Winning is purely a matter of luck and chance, with no manipulation involved. We strive to maintain a fair and enjoyable environment at our table games. The behaviors he described, such as making unfavorable bets or disrupting play, are not condoned. The claim that our staff, including dealers and pit bosses, acted inappropriately by refusing to correct errors or engaging in discriminatory behavior is extremely serious. Our team is committed to professionalism and respect for all guests. We do not tolerate any form of harassment or misconduct. The safety and well-being of our guests are our top priorities. Our security personnel are trained to handle situations calmly and professionally. There is no reason to feel unsafe, as he claims. Over all, his accusations are false and he will be banned to enter our property permanently.

Super fun evening. Everyone was helpful and nice. Would absolutely go again! Water was pretty choppy so if you get motion sickness I wouldn't recommend.

I went on a big M on May 30, 2024 me and my best friend we had absolutely the best time ever. The staff was extremely pleasant. They kept asking you if you needed something to drink if there's anything they can do to help we both kept gambling and winning money. The machines were nice and clean even the boat was well-maintained. I give it five stars all the way. The boat ride was really nice just to hang out on the deck I will definitely be back on the boat. This was absolutely hands-down one of the best days that I've had in Myrtle Beach since we moved here. I love everything about Myrtle Beach but this was a nice day and this was also a senior citizen day. Every Thursday you can go for half the price. I will definitely be back.

Today I was on the big M casino boat. I've been on here quite a few times, and never had a problem, but today the dealer was asking us for tips and getting angry, because she was so angry. She wound up, hitting one of my two hands but not the one that I wanted to hit it would not compensate me and I know she did that on purpose. Meanwhile I'm down $1000. I'm calling the Better Business Bureau the gaming commission and They owe me $500 im calling anybody else I can call because I basically got robbed.l She wasn't so angry about the tips and did the right thing I would've won the hand with 125 on each hand they only $500 bottom line

After a thorough investigation, our casino manager has reviewed the footage and, unfortunately, disagrees with your account of the events. According to the footage: • Your first hand was a 10 and a 5. • Your second hand was a 5 and a 2. • The dealer pointed to your first hand, and you took a hit, drawing a face card and busting. • The dealer then pointed to your second hand, and you hit, drawing a 3, then hit again and drew a 7, bringing your total to 17. • You did not begin to complain until the dealer revealed her hand, which was an 18. Given these findings, we are unable to take any action regarding your complaint. Regarding the dealer soliciting tips, this behavior is against our company policy, and we will investigate this matter further. Thank you for your understanding.

This was great day trip for the Hubs and I. We made reservations ahead of the cruise and the parking and check-in process was smooth. The ship was clean and seemed well maintained. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of machines and all seemed to work well. The group around the Blackjack tables seemed to be having a fun time. There were several winners on our cruise. The food was satisfying if lackluster. There was no buffet. The menu consisted of wrap, subs, and hot dogs. The meal comes with chips and a drink. There is a soup option. No photos are allowed in the gambling areas. Seating in the dining area offers great views of the intracoastal waterway. All in all, I am looking forward to our next cruise! I am not out on the boat very often, but the experience is usually fun. LOVE that smoking is now only allowed outside. The boat is clean and their staff onboard is always very friendly. Remember to only bet what you can afford to lose. Go out on a cruise and have fun!

Photo of Debi E.

The ship was beautiful and we had read all of the reviews before we decided to go. Many of the reviews indicate that the staff is rude and unfortunately we found that to be true. When we first got on the boat, we were asking for a players card .....they ask you to sit at a machine and complete your paperwork before returning it to the cage. I didn't understand. I couldn't hear what the girl was saying because I am deaf. The attendant came out from behind the desk and pointed to the seat, clearly annoyed. It was fun- but some work on customer service is definitely necessary. Employees should be acting like cheerleaders & be working to have patrons, excited about the journey and wanting to use the machines.

Had a great time. I lost, but that is what I expected. Try the Big M. It's worth your time.

This is a fun trip for numerous reasons. If you are simply looking for some live entertainment, you will certainly have it on this boat! Or, if you want to play a bunch of games, including slots, Texas Hold’em, craps, and more, you can certainly do that on this Las Vegas style ship!

Furthermore, this cruise also comes with an amazing buffet. Therefore, you shouldn’t have to worry about being hungry when you get off the ship! There are typically six cruises during the week, and there are trips that depart in the morning and in the evening. That means you can customize your schedule to meet your needs. It’s also a great rainy day activity when the beach is out of the question.

It doesn’t cost a lot of money to get on the boat, but you should always bring some extra cash to take advantage of all of the games!

You can find the Big M Casino at 4491 Mineola Avenue. This is just a few miles north of North Myrtle Beach in the Little River neighborhood on the Intercoastal Waterway. It’s about 2.5 hours from Charleston, near the North Carolina border.

Special Events on The Big M Casino

riverboat casino in myrtle beach

If you plan your trip accordingly, you might get access to a few special events as well.

For example, The Big M Casino Ship usually has a special event on New Year’s Eve. This is a celebratory cruise where you have access to some unique casino games, a champagne toast, and even complimentary drinks if you’re playing any of the casino games.

The buffet is kicked up a notch from usual, the DJ plays some amazing tunes, and you can take advantage of hors d’oeuvres. Even though the special New Year’s Eve cruise is a bit more expensive, it also gives you access to a wider variety of entertainment options. If this is something that interests you, make sure you plan accordingly as tickets can sell out quickly.

Rules While On the Big M Casino

Even though The Big M Casino is one of the biggest attractions in the local area, it is important for everyone to abide by several rules. They include:

  • Guests are not allowed to use vapes, e-cigarettes, or chewing tobacco. Smoking is permitted on the ship; however, it is only allowed outside.
  • Anyone who gets on the ship has to be at least 21 years of age. Even if someone is not planning on drinking or gambling, they are not allowed to get on the ship unless they are 21 years old. Parents should have alternate plans for their children.
  • A government photo ID is required at all times while on the ship. Passengers may be asked to show it at any time.
  • The dress code is casual; however, guests should use their best judgment when deciding what to wear. Guests are not allowed to get on the ship if they only have swimwear.
  • No offensive clothing or tattoos are allowed on the ship.
  • Shoes are expected to be worn at all times.
  • All guests will go through a security check before they get on the ship. Guns, knives, and anything else that could be construed as a weapon is not allowed on board.
  • Nobody is allowed to take pictures of the casino at any time.
  • Guests are recommended to avoid the ship if they are pregnant.
  • No outside food or beverages are allowed on the ship at any time.

Anyone with questions or concerns about these regulations should reach out to the casino for clarification. That way, everyone can plan accordingly when they approach the ship to get on board.

Where To Stay: The Ashworth Condos on North Myrtle Beach

Once you are done with your table games, video poker, and the Pot O’ Gold machine, I highly suggest staying at The Ashworth . The Ashworth is a premium oceanfront condo in the heart of North Myrtle Beach. Regardless of what you plan on doing during your vacation, you won’t be far by staying at The Ashworth.

You’ll be treated to an indoor pool, lazy river and incredible ocean views. While it’s not located on a golf course, there are plenty of golf resorts in the area that will allow you to book a tee time during your stay.

Other Activities in North Myrtle Beach

riverboat casino in myrtle beach

Another great activity you may want to check out while on holiday is some of the water parks in the area. They are fun for people of all ages, and this is a great way for the kids to remain active. That way, when they go back to the hotel, they’ll be ready to crawl into bed and go to sleep! Just remember to put on some sunscreen before you head out!

You may also want to check out a few watersports. For example, the Grand Strand is not that far away, and you can take advantage of jet ski rentals to explore the Myrtle Beach coast! This is an affordable way for people of all ages to relax, and it is the ideal activity for thrill seekers!

If you are looking for a bit more adventure, you may want to consider signing up for parasailing. This is an opportunity to fly high above the ocean, giving you an opportunity to take in an unparalleled view. If you are looking for the best harbor view you can find, consider signing up for parasailing!

Finally, consider signing up for scuba diving! When compared to other locations along the coast, Myrtle Beach is not nearly as expensive for scuba diving. Keep in mind though, the visibility in this area of the Atlantic Coast is not ideal so what you get in price, you’ll lose in terms of views. There are lots of shipwrecks you can check out, you can explore a wide variety of diving sites, and you can swim with the fishes! You do not necessarily have to be certified to go scuba diving. You can sign up for a lesson, take a guided tour, and then go out with the help of a professional!

Myrtle Beach has a lot to offer. You might be looking for an amazing Casino Adventure, but do not forget about the other activities in the region as well!

Walk The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk/Ride The SkyWheel

Perhaps the most iconic top attraction in Myrtle Beach is its beach boardwalk and its imposing SkyWheel Ferris wheel. The 1.4-mile boardwalk has bars, restaurants, arcades, and endless entertainment, and it is no wonder that the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk ranks among the most fun boardwalks in the United States .

The SkyWheel, at 187 feet in height, offers amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding beaches and is lit festively at night, making it the most noticeable structure in Myrtle Beach’s skyline.

Best Time To Visit Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is a great destination throughout the year. Each season has a different appeal, and each has its pros and cons. Below are reasons why Myrtle Beach is unique and special in all four seasons.

Spring marks the start of tourism in Myrtle Beach. It is a great way to beat the crowds and the summer prices. Be mindful that some establishments might still be closed in March and April, with most things getting into full swing by Memorial Day weekend. Keep in mind the water temperatures will be frigid this time of year, but beach walks are ideal.

Summer is by far the best time to enjoy all the beauty and bounty that Myrtle Beach has to offer. With the weather in the 80s and low 90s, almost every day is a perfect beach day, and the water temperatures are perfect for swimming activities and various water sports.

There are, however, both pros and cons to visiting Myrtle Beach in the summer .

The perfect summer weather conditions also bring less-than-ideal crowds. Expect the beaches to be packed with people fighting for space in the sand, as well as difficult parking. In addition to space issues, prices also reach their height in the summer. Everything from hotels to food to rental equipment reaches peak level in the summer.

For those looking for pleasant weather without crowds, early to mid-fall is ideal. There are far fewer crowds and hotel prices tend to go down starting after Labor Day weekend. This means a cheaper trip but fewer days of tanning. This time of year is wonderful for lounge chairs on the beach and long beach walks.

Winter and beaches don’t often go hand-in-hand, but it is certainly possible to visit Myrtle Beach in the winter. Some argue it is better to visit Myrtle Beach in Winter over the summer .

For one, there are no crowds. There are also often great hotel deals.

Some restaurants and bars are closed in the winter, but those that are open take on a more local feel in these months. Myrtle Beach is also host to several festivals in the holiday season, including the visually captivating Night of A Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens.

Best Ways To Get Around Myrtle Beach

When arriving in and traveling around Myrtle Beach, there are several options available. For those not interested in using a car, it is entirely possible to arrive at Myrtle Beach International Airport and take a car service to a beachfront hotel.

From there, much of the downtown and beach area is walkable, with many of the top sites and attractions close by.

If the trip itinerary calls for a venture beyond the immediate boardwalk vicinity, then car or public transport is required.

Public Transportation

Coast RTA Public Transit offers 8 different bus routes that cover the majority of the Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand area. The bus also offers transportation into the hub of Myrtle Beach for those who don’t want to spend lots of money on parking or battle for a parking space.

  • For more information on bus routes and ticketing through Coast RTA Public Transit .

Getting Around Myrtle Beach By Car

Renting a car or arriving by car is the most popular way to explore Myrtle Beach. Having a car allows visitors the chance to explore the many beaches to the north and south of Myrtle Beach, many of which are far less crowded than Myrtle Beach itself.

For those interested in golfing or visiting more remote destinations, a car is best. Keep in mind parking in popular areas in the peak summer months can be challenging and expensive.

Where To Eat And Drink In Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach has a plethora of restaurants and bars to choose from. From hidden hole-in-the-wall establishments to iconic and historic bars along the boardwalk, this area has it all.

The hard part isn't finding a place; it's choosing which one to sit down at.

  • Drift : High-end breakfast eatery with menu favorites like chicken and waffles and several egg benedict variations.
  • Donald’s Pancake House : Affordable breakfast option with eclectic pancake house-style menu.

Looking for gorgeous views while enjoying breakfast? There are plenty of Myrtle Beach eateries for morning delights .

Mid-Day Meals

  • Abraham’s Gyros : Amazing and cheap gyros and Mediterranean food. One of the best restaurants along the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and also one of the most affordable.
  • Simply Southern Smokehouse: Off the beaten path, offering delicious and reasonably priced southern BBQ. A must-have for those visiting from outside the Southern U.S. Great takeout option as well.
  • The Melting Pot Restaurant of Myrtle Beach : High-end American contemporary restaurant. Great for date night. Pre-set several-course meal options available.
  • Hook & Barrel : Carefully designed and welcoming ambiance. American cuisine with ample seafood options and local fare.
  • Hurricane’s Daiquiri Bar & Grill : Great variety of frozen beverages steps away from the beach at Myrtle Beach. Colorful ambiance featuring live music and a full grill menu.
  • 8th Ave. Tiki Bar & Grill : Laid back island-themed bar & grille with frozen cocktails, bar food, and patio seating
  • The Bowery : A Myrtle Beach iconic music venue and bar. Live music is featured nightly at 8:30 and just steps away from the beach.

Tips For Visiting Myrtle Beach

Whether traveling as a family, as a couple, or as a solo traveler, there are a few important things to note about a trip to Myrtle Beach. For one, when looking into booking a trip, keep in mind that timing is everything.

Not only does the time of year change what activities are available, but it also changes the room rates.

Related: 10 Top-Rated Things To Do In Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is a wildly popular vacation destination in the summer, so booking well in advance is encouraged. This is especially true when renting a vacation home, as inventory tends to dwindle as the spring approaches. The moral of the story here is to book in advance.

Also, remember that while Myrtle Beach does not offer direct sunset views (the sun sets in the West, after all), it does offer a magnificent sunrise. Be sure to catch at least one glorious sunrise while visiting.

  • Where is Myrtle Beach? Myrtle Beach is a city located in South Carolina. The area includes multiple beaches such as Cherry Grove, Central Myrtle, North Myrtle, Surfside, and Myrtle Beach State Park beaches.

How To Spend A Perfect Day In Myrtle Beach

Any perfect day in Myrtle Beach should involve a trip to the beach. But before venturing to the powdery sand, grab a bite at a local eatery or maybe just a gyro to go from Abraham's Gyro. With food taken care of, grab some water, sunscreen, and a beach chair and bask in all of Myrtle Beach's glory.

When the sun and ocean have both served their purpose, it's cocktail time. Consider grabbing a frozen cocktail along the 1.4-mile boardwalk to cool down. Next, if a wild night is in order, head over to The Bowery for some top-notch live music. For a more mellow evening, ride the SkyWheel at night.

After all, it's something everyone who visits Myrtle Beach has to do at least once.
