A new way to experience the very best of hilton head, when hilton head yacht charter’s founder jim gilpin had his 55-footer at shelter cove, people always approached him with the same question:.

do you charter cruises with this boat? It got him thinking. “There are so many wonderful ways to engage with the waters around Hilton Head, and so many luxury experiences on the Island itself,” he says. “But no one had brought that top-shelf, five-star quality out onto the water.” So he decided to be the one to do it. But Jim understood intuitively that there would be much more to it than just cruising on a big, beautiful boat. The experience would have to be like owning a yacht—minus the hassle, of course.

Jim’s idea has manifested as something entirely new to Hilton Head:

a one hundred percent customizable choose-your-own-adventure floating resort, of sorts. The Top Shelf is an eighty-foot luxury motor yacht that accommodates every kind of indulgent yachting experience. Want to water ski or wakeboard and then test out 007-style underwater Sea-Bobs and 215-horsepower Sea-Doo Speedsters? Maybe your ideal cruise includes a sundeck, ice-cold craft cocktails and mouthwatering meals served by an Executive Chef. Or perhaps keeping watch for dolphins, sea turtles and manatees from the Top Shelf’s trailing Swim Platform, immersed in nature, but never more than ten feet away from a delightful array of creature comforts. If your yachting fantasy is some combination of the above, you’re in luck. From May to October, Hilton Head Yacht Charters is doing it all: daytime and sunset cruises, action-packed afternoons filled with exotic water sports, luxury leisure time and the swankiest sea going around.

Water Sports

Day Charters on Top Shelf are all about watersports and water-based activities.  Open the boxes below to learn more about the water toys we offer.

If you have never experienced riding a SeaBob , you are in for a treat.  Imagine how a dolphin swims through the water, this is how you will feel swimming at 11 miles per hour above and under the water!

Tubing on the Obrien Booker 2 Tube is simply a blast.  The tube slides easily to both sides to get you airborne over the wake.  In Addition, the Zup Board is a versatile kneeboard/wakeboard combination.  The Sea-Doo 155 Speedster Jetboat is our 215 HP towing platform.  Lots of laughs guaranteed with these watersport activities.

Paddle Boards

Take our two paddleboards for a trip to explore some of the low country tidal creeks. 

The crew will inflate a floating sundeck that is a great place for the adults to slip in and out of the water.  In addition,  Yamaha Sea Scooters, other toys will be available for your enjoyment.

Vessel Layout

Top Shelf is an 80 foot Hatteras Sky Lounge Motor Yacht.  She sleeps 8 passengers in 4 staterooms. Click the boxes below to explore the deck layouts.

Top Shelf has 3 main sunning decks including the bow sun-pad , the Aft Flybridge Lounge and the floating Swim Platform which includes inflatable chairs.  

Lounge Areas

Both aft, the aft-deck lounge area is a comfortable dining area for 8 guests.  The crew can erect the sailcloth shades for the Flybridge Skylounge to make this a wonder area to relax.

State Rooms

Staterooms on Top Shelf are located on the lower deck consisting of a full-width master cabin, a VIP cabin in the bow, and two staterooms both Starboard and Port.  All cabins have an ensuite head.

Top Shelf has a full galley on board where Chef Jenn performs her magic.  The galley is fully equipped to serve your delicious lunch or delicate afternoon pastries.

Our family had a great experience with Island Head Watersports! My daughters loved the adventure. The Captain, Taylor, was very friendly, knowledgeable and informative about the process, boat, and HHI! The staff was very responsive while scheduling as well.

Outstanding parasail this morning for myself and two kids. Perfect balance of fun and safety. We never felt like just another customer and I know that must not be easy when you're doing this day in and day out. Highly recommend this outfit to anyone.

Lovely boat ride with little to no turbulence. Staff clearly knew what they were doing. The parasailing experience is phenomenal-- it's an exhilarating ride with great views! I have a mild fear of water but even I felt safe 100% of the time.

We had an emergency at our home the morning of the rental and had to keep changing times for departure, i made 4-5 phone calls asking to push the times back, and it was no problem. they were so understanding and flexible. What a great experience. The staff is very help and kind. There is a young man named Preston that stood out for our visit. I am used to running a center console deep vee, but after he asked about what my group was looking for in the trip on the water, he recommended the Bennington tri-toon. What a homerun. Shade, comfort and still a little performance. I will certainly do business with them again.

Wonderful! This was our second year in a row renting from the Shelter Cove Marina. We reserved via website a week ahead of time to ensure the Premium Pontoon Boat was available for a 4 hour duration. It’s so comfortable and extremely roomy. Yes this boat can accommodate 12 as advertised, and yes there is plenty of room if that’s how many your party has. We only had 5 … Having 5 adults felt like luxury as each one of us were able to stretch and enjoy the breeze and sun the entire ride. I feel 4 hours is ideal time. Of God allows, we will be repeat customers yearly.

We rented a pontoon for 8 hours. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The entire day was awesome and worth the money! We had a blast.

We had a fabulous time. The person who helped set up the reservation was very warm and helpful and answered all of our questions, and let me know what I needed to do to be prepared (since this was only my second time as a boat captain). Our deckhand, Adam, was also extremely helpful in preparing us to get underway. showed me what to look for on the GPS, and the best place we should go so that we could drop anchor and jump out into the water. Our family rented a pontoon boat for 2 hours and had a great time! We saw several dolphins and enjoyed lunch on the boat. The staff was friendly and very helpful answering questions and helping us make a reservation. Highly recommend. After doing some comparisons we found the cost was reasonable, too.

We had a great time. Even saw a few dolphins. Unlike some other pontoon boats I've rented, this boat was in great shape and seemed fairly new. It also had a GPS which made it super easy to find our way around.

The boat was new and very clean. The people at the check=in were friendly and informative. Having a tri-toon makes the boating so much nicer because you don't feel the waves as much.I would definitely use them again.
