Explore Giant Jubilee’s Exquisite Exterior

Oceanco ’s 361-foot Jubilee , launched last summer, is the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands . The yacht has 16 staterooms for 31 guests with a crew of 39. The yacht’s beam is 54 feet wide and it weighs 4,500 tons. Turning a behemoth like Jubilee into a delicate beauty was a task that fell on the shoulders of Igor Lobanov , whose recent designs included the 282-foot Oceanco St. Princess Olga (now Amore Vera) that launched in 2013. “When Jubilee’s owner saw Amore Vera, he liked it but said it was too small,” says Lobanov . “He then picked a concept from my portfolio. The final yacht looks very much like the initial concept.”

Designing Jubilee ’s exterior was a challenge not only because of the nearly four-football-field length of the hull, but also the yacht’s height. “I developed the exterior so it had a ‘funnel’ shape that would mask its tall height,” says Lobanov. “The funnel collects the layers and visually nails them down to the hull.”

In order to maintain symmetry in the profile, Lobanov actually added a faux deck to the others encircling the yacht’s mid-section. “That fake deck sits between two other decks but is transparent from the interior,” he says. “I wanted these thin decks to give the sense of a 460-foot yacht sitting on the 360-foot hull. We wanted to confuse people seeing the boat from the distance and force them to guess how large it actually was.”

Beyond Jubilee ’s sense of symmetry, the decks extend farther forward and aft as they descend, giving the yacht multiple views that change dramatically depending on where a person is standing. “Each level does its own dance, so the views are quite different on each deck,” says Lobanov.

The superstructure wasn’t the only challenge. Given the yacht’s length and beam, the designer had an abundance of square footage to shape into areas that were simple and even delicate. Jubilee has a dedicated helicopter deck that comprises most of the foredeck. The rear section is, in turn, dominated by a long pool deck with the same unassuming elegance of the upper decks. The deck just above provides a partial overhang above the pool and a shaded space that serves as the main exterior social area of the yacht.

Jubilee ’s owner is Middle Eastern, so Lobanov studied Arabic architecture for cues that he could use in the design. Favoring simplicity over opulence, he used Arabic motifs like the waterfall that separates the dining area from the swimming pool for both aesthetics and functionality. The oval dining table also has Arabic influences, as do the shapes of the lounges around the pool. “We tended to avoid a traditional Arabic style and went for a more subtle, modern look,” he says. “We wanted the features to be soft, without huge contrasts, but at the same time have beautiful details.”

Lobanov is particularly proud of the way the circular ceiling over the dining table turned out. The nearly 1,000-square-foot design is a single piece of metal with dozens of LED spotlight fixtures. Nearly all the exterior lights are comprised of LED strips with no ceiling panels. “When you come on board, you only see smooth surfaces,” he says. “They don’t have the rough, chaotic grooves you often see on paneling. The edges of the ceiling over the dining table curve downward like a dome, so there is a flow to everything.” The ingrained patterns are beautiful but subtle.

The beach club below includes a Turkish spa and indoor seating area that looks out over the water. It’s larger than most superyachts, but feels small compared to the pool deck just above.

In the end, Lobanov’s exterior is a perfect fit for Jubilee ’s expansive hull. The yacht, both inside and out, is large but the spaces have been divided into human-size sections that convey openness and light. “I wanted the yacht to look simple from the distance, but as you get closer, you can see that it’s actually quite complicated,” says Lobanov.

In pictures: 110m Oceanco flagship yacht Jubilee on sea trials

Dutch yard  Oceanco  has given an update on its 110 metre flagship yacht  Jubilee , which is currently in the final stages of its extensive sea trials. The largest superyacht built in The Netherlands to date, she will join the ranks of the world's largest superyachts when completed later this year.

The new build project was signed by Burgess in October 2012, with naval architecture by Azure and Oceanco, and interior design by Australian Sam Sorgiovanni . The technical consultancy services division of  Burgess  acted as both technical consultants and owner’s representatives.

Exterior styling is by  Igor Lobanov , who has used large expanses of horizontal glazing that trick the eye into thinking that Jubilee has even more than her five decks.

Jubilee was built from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure to have a total interior volume of more than 4,500GT. Power comes from a pair of MTU diesel engines for an estimated top speed of 18.5 knots.

Key features include a fully-certified foredeck helipad, an aft-deck swimming pool with built-in aquarium and a  superyacht beach club below . Accommodation is for 30 guests in 15 cabins, including a separate  owner's deck .

In a statement, the yard added: "This yacht has a very sleek and original profile that will surely turn heads wherever she travels. Her elongated profile flows elegantly and gracefully from bow to stern."

Jubilee was the first yacht to have taken advantage of  Oceanco’s new state-of-the-art facilities . The Dutch superyacht builder announced its expansion in 2014, which included building a new dry dock with a shed to accommodate yachts of up to 140 metres in length, measuring 62,000 metres square.

The 33 metre-high building and dry dock, constructed in concrete and heavily insulated with integrated thermal and cooling systems, is said to be virtually impervious to outside weather and ground water temperatures.

Oceanco is also building the largest sailing yacht ever to be built in The Netherlands,  Black Pearl . The DynaRig sailing yacht features a unique array of green technologies highlighted by the ability to operate entirely on solar power. Delivery is scheduled for 2017.

• 110m Oceanco yacht Jubilee: An island unto herself

Jubilee is a 110m luxury yacht, built by Oceanco , which specializes in building custom superyachts from aluminum and steel and delivered in 2017. She is definitely one of a kind.

Not only her size makes her that special, but it’s more even about the way she looks and feels. Jubilee combines fast lines and smart surfaces with elegant proportions. The whole look of her is very modern and, at some point, is futuristic.

“The hull shape is deliberately minimalistic to contrast with the superstructure,” says Igor Lobanov of Lobanov Design, which created Jubilee’s exterior. “At the same time, a massive white funnel pins the entire layers down to the white hull, leaving a feeling that the white structure goes inside through the decks.”

After Jubilee was launched in 2017, she achieved two milestones: being the largest yacht built at Oceanco and the largest yacht built in the Netherlands. Her owner from a Middle Eastern royal family invited Sorgiovanni Designs to work with the shipyard on the interior.

From overhead, the superyacht looks like a contour map of an island, with each deck appearing at different heights above sea level.

“The 3-D modeling was quite a challenging task, which pleased my mathematical part of the brain,” Lobanov says. “Each of the layers meets and splits under certain rules, which can be noticed from different angles.”

No wonder, Jubilee has achieved numerous awards, including being Yachts International’s editors’ pick as the best exterior styling in 2017.

The motor yacht can accommodate 31 guests in 16 cabins with 39 crew members. Four VIP cabins are found on the bridge deck, while there are a further 10 guest suites on the main deck.

Her huge main saloon is about 135 square metre space focused around a large television at one end and big and cozy lounge chair at the another.

Jubilee also features the tremendous pool deck with a built-in aquarium. Just below is a beach club, hammam, gym, and access to the water via a fold-down transom.

Uniquely designed stairs and an elevator connect all five decks.

Her top speed is 18.5kn and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 5000.0nm at with power coming from two 4828.0hp MTU diesel engines.

KAOS Yacht – Extravagant $300M Superyacht

KAOS yacht (formerly JUBILEE and AL MENWAR) is an award-winning superyacht that was recently refitted with a completely redesigned interior.

At 110 metres (361ft) and 4,523 tons, she was the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands at the time of her launch in 2017.

The vessel was recently spotted off the coast of southern Spain before dropping anchor in the beach town of Marbella.

The interior of the motor yacht was originally designed by Sam Sorgiovanni who is originally from Australia and aims to unite practicality with beauty through his unique designs.

The vessel was made completely wheelchair accessible including elevators and barrier-free access to all decks. 

The process took a year and with the help of the British designer Reymond Langton, the interior was transformed.

KAOS has room for 31 guests in 16 cabins. This includes a lavish owner’s suite which consists of two separate bedrooms.

There are also four VIP suites and ten standard suites with ensuite bathrooms. All guest cabins are located on the upper deck. 

45 staff distributed across 24 cabins find space on the lower levels of the vessel. Only the cabins for the captain and first officer are located on the bridge deck.

The KAOS yacht was designed with maximum comfort in mind. Her interior includes lavish facilities such as a spacious elevator, a steam room, a full gym, as well as an indoor beach club.

Originally she was constructed with Middle Eastern design in mind which includes features such as a large majelis, which is a dedicated seating and entertainment area meant for hosting guests.

The KAOS yacht also has a large cinema, a sauna, and full spa facilities. Below the deck, there is a separate crew gym and a small hospital in case of medical emergencies.

The interior design can be described as lavish and luxurious. White and blue carpeted floors with intricate designs compliment the exterior of the vessel and its signature aqua color.

Golden accents and cream upholstery go well with the wooden elements such as the teak flooring.

Opulent furnishing with many indirect lighting accents creates a feeling of coziness and luxury. 

Specifications

At the time of her launch in 2017, the KAOS yacht was the largest yacht ever built by the custom yacht builder Oceano as well as the largest yacht built in the Netherlands.

At a length of 110 meters (361ft), a beam of 16.4 meters (53 ft), and a maximum draft of 4.4 meters (14.5 ft), she is currently ranked as the 39th largest motor yacht in the world, together with motor yachts ANNA, RADIANT and AL RAYA who measure the same length.

She displaces 4,523 tons and is known for her unusual design, which is very sleek and minimalist.

KAOS can reach speeds of up to 19 knots with an average speed of 15 knots which is not the fastest in her weight category but still impressive for her large size.

As expected from Oceano, she was constructed primarily from aluminum and steel and has a fuel capacity of 391,000 liters as well as a 230,000-litre freshwater tank. She is powered by impressive MTU engines fuelling two propellers.

The KAOS yacht can host 31 guests in 16 cabins as well as 45 crew in 24 cabins. Her maximum range is estimated to be somewhere around 5,000 nautical miles.

The KAOS yacht is an exceptionally beautiful yacht that was built prioritizing modern and minimalist design.

Lobanov Design is responsible for her eye-catching exterior, which focuses on futuristic elements combined with optical illusions. 

Established in 2007, this design studio is known to be young, offering unique perspectives and modern approaches.

She was built with curved lines in mind incorporating elements of glass and metal in a nautical context.

Her all-around glass fronts create an optical illusion letting the yacht appear to have several more decks than she actually has. 

The so-called trompe l’oeil effect lets KAOS appear sleek and elongated, setting her apart from traditional yacht design. Her designer Lobanov describes the modeling process for KAOS.

Her exterior is white with light blue accents, which are contrasted by the many darkly tinted windows.

She has four decks, the largest of which is the aft which has a sizable swimming pool with a built-in aquarium and seating areas.

Several smaller decks are located on higher levels, although most of them are hidden in shaded areas. 

Close to the top of the superstructure, a small jacuzzi is situated, allowing guests to enjoy incredible views while relaxing.

At the bow, a helipad is located, including refueling facilities for small to medium-sized helicopter aircraft. Below the helipad, the mooring deck is cleverly concealed for aesthetic purposes. 

At the stern of the vessel, the KAOS yacht has an extendable swimming platform that can be closed completely when the yacht is underway.

This platform leads directly to a lounge area inside the yacht, complete with a state-of-the-art entertainment system, TV, and storage space.

On the starboard side of the aft, there is a separate platform for docking tenders and releasing water toys.

KAOS also possesses a modern underwater lighting system and state-of-the-art stabilizers for the comfort of guests when the vessel is underway or at anchor.

Toys and equipment

The KAOS yacht carries at least two tenders, one of which almost looks like a miniature version of the main vessel with the same blue and white design and tinted windows.

They were built by Pascoe International , a renowned company specializing in tenders for superyachts. 

She carries a wide array of water toys, including several jet skis, water bobs, and paddleboards.

Previous names

Originally the KAOS yacht was built in the Netherlands by Oceano under the name SECRET III. Upon her launch, she was officially named JUBILEE and then renamed AL MENWAR by the royal family of Qatar, the House of Thani.

The largest superyacht built in Holland to date, the 110.1m/361ft motor yacht JUBILEE was filmed leaving the Oceanco shipyard in Alblasserdam for the Mediterranean via Gibraltar yesterday.

Launched in February and completing her sea trials in June, there has been a huge buzz of excitement surrounding the progress of superyacht JUBILEE .

Of course, this should come as no surprise as the size of JUBILEE makes her the 30th largest superyacht in the world, nudging out both the 110m/360ft luxury yacht ONA and the 110m/360ft motor yacht RADIANT by being a few important centimetres longer.

Now confirmed to be undertaking her maiden voyage in the Mediterranean, there’s no doubt that her striking exterior designed by Igor Lobanov will attract plenty of attention.

Boasting a generously proportioned swimming pool with its own built-in aquarium, a fully certified helideck, and an interior designed by Sam Sorgiovanni, there’s no doubt that JUBILEE is joining a highly elite league of motor yachts.

In terms of entertaining guests by the water, the superyacht also boasts a large beach club which will allow for the convenient boarding of tenders whilst at the same time serving as an exciting communal space.

What’s more, by making use of horizontal glazing techniques and adding electric blue panelling to her exterior, the overall profile of JUBILEE  is sure to become iconic in no time whatsoever.

Whilst no images currently exist of her voluminous interior, it has been confirmed that she includes 15 cabins which allows her owner to accommodate up to 30 guests.

Besides being visually outstanding and equipped with all of the latest features, superyacht JUBILEE has also been built to capably carry out worldwide cruising.
