I came on this paddlewheel boat tour with a group of 11 today. We opted for the tour only as opposed to the tour that includes the buffet or dinner. The "tour" isn't narrated. It's more of a boat/ferry ride with recorded music (big band, country, and swing). The paddlewheel boat has both a gift shop and a place to get refreshments while on board. Highlights from this experience include seeing views of prestine homes that adorne the shoreline and a refreshing breeze. This is the type of excursion one takes when looking for a breezy ride on a hot day. There are better attractions in this area for the price point and experience.

June 11, 2022 DINNER CRUISE (Asian buffet) Windy so we couldn't sail, BUMMED to say the least; this is NOT a cheap event $83 and that's the senior citizen discounted one! The food was meh... Mongolian beef that was pepper steak tender but no flavor, honey garlic chicken w/charred scallions (tasted a bit of garlic, no scallions) teriyaki salmon w/pineapple relish (baked salmon no teriyaki or relish) coconut shrimp (they ran out of the spicy mango sauce and there were no other sauce options) fried rice that wasn't fried, steamed veggies, mango cheesecake (tasted regular no mango anything) NO ASIAN flare at all. No spice or flavor Nice crew. Captain came out and explained winds and introduced himself. There was an open bar (we didn't partake) and a DJ that played 80's music. For 2 hours we sat on a docked boat. Sunset was mostly blocked by clouds... just a bust all the way around. IF the winds are 25 knots are higher... No sail. Winds tonight 27 (take note) They will allow you to reschedule if boat can't sail, but we took off work to do this soo Overall opinion... IF there's no wind...25 knots are less... you can sail but, the food (albeit plentiful) was like eating at Luby's. So, I'm just NOT recommending it, too iffy

Based on my experience. I do not recommend. Food was comparable to school cafeteria items and during my visit was cold, along with running out an item or two before everyone had his/her first trip thru the buffet. Men's room smelled at time of boarding. Describe on dinner reservations to be "Casual, Dressy Casual, Cocktail and Festive attire".... Most clientle in very casual attire. Kids seems to have fun dancing to songs....adults not so much One bartender was attentive, nice and professional other staff on boat didn't seem to want to be there. No smiles , barely said a word anyone that I saw...

The food was bad, the bathroom didn't have soap, and the music was terrible. After paying $95/person, my husband and I decided to go to whataburger as soon as we got back on land because it was honestly better than eating cold, unseasoned, stale, and undercooked food. Do not go on this boat. It's not worth it.

Delicious food, outstanding staff, full service bar, great music during the entire dinner cruise and a spectacular sunset! We are booking our next dinner cruise!

​It's a pretty fun time and a nice trip around the bay. Dinner cruises rotate their meals and entertainment, so it's not always the same. It is great to have the boat on the island and support Moody Gardens.

We went for new years and it was definitely not worth the price. We spent 2 hours on the boat which offered a couple drink tickets and hor d'oeuvres. The drinks were good, the food was average at best. It was kind of a dull environment. The dj kept saying 2023 was a shitty year. And the boat went in a super small circle so we didn't get to see much at all. It was $130 a ticket which we splurged on, but the experience wasn't worth more than $50. Wouldn't go back or recommend this event for the holiday.

What an enjoyable time, in the breeze, on the water, while hearing the wonderful history of Galveston Island.

This Boat ride sucks! they don't have any vegetarian entrees nor are they willing to make a special meal for an additional charge. I was told twice they can not do anything about it or have any substitutions. There are so many health conscious vegetarian people around the world!! Too bad i cant post without marking 1 star!

E xperience the elegance and romance of the paddlewheel from a bygone era aboard the  Colonel , a triple deck sternwheeler. Her 550 passenger capacity makes her one of the largest paddlewheelers that has ever cruised the Houston / Galveston area. Plush carpeting, elegant draperies, colorful lighting, and uniformed staff members guarantee that your cruise will be a special adventure.

The  Colonel  is available for private parties of 100 or more aboard the day or evening cruises. Guests can enjoy the open-air promenade deck, or one of the elegant dining rooms – the Texas Room or the Galveston Room. The  Colonel  also welcomes individuals on its regularly scheduled day and dinner/dance cruises. Reservations are required for dinner cruises, but not for day cruises.

The  Colonel , with her full facilities and crew on board, proves that pleasing you is their number one objective, and your enjoyment is their greatest reward.

Romantic Getaway

Enjoy a romantic private sunset cruise for two along Galveston Bay! Experience the sights, scents, and sounds of the sea. Bring your camera to capture a beautiful sunset or to watch the herons, egrets, and pelicans. Each trip is customized to fit your needs and vision.

Our Romantic Getaway Cruises are for four hours around Galveston Bay with dinner (salad, entree, dessert), Bottled water, sodas, mixers are available upon request.

We do require a deposit of $500 to hold the date. On holidays we require a deposit of 50% your quoted rate. You are welcome to bring any food, liquor, beer, and wine. We have two cooking areas on the boat; a three-burner stovetop inside and a grill on the back deck. You are welcome to use either or one of our crew can while you relax! Catering is also an option we can arrange for an additional charge.

YACHT ACCOMMODATIONS

Large salon with open concept living/kitchen boasting a huge island and comfy recliners all in an air-conditioned cabin with windows surrounding you for an amazing view. 

Sound System that connects several ways: BT, USB & AUX

TV we can show a slideshow, play music videos if you bring a DVD or USB

For outdoor seating, there is a large back deck and upper balcony as well as a few bean bags on the bow (front) of the boat!

Aboard we have 2 Bathrooms

At the moment per coast guard regulations, we can only accommodate up to 6 people.

Time: Boarding begins at 6 p.m., cruise from 7-9 p.m.

Dinner will still be served dockside if weather does not permit the boat to sail. No refunds will be given in the event that the boat does not sail due to weather events.

Book a Galveston Sunset Cruise to experience the island in a totally different way, and leave the fishing gear at the marina. Set out on a private tour of Galveston for a sunset cruise or Galveston harbor tour for up to 6 people per boat. These trips are available any time of day and any day of the year.

Our sunset cruises are the most popular by far, no need to crowd your group onto a public boat with other groups. Relax and enjoy a boat ride to see some of our local dolphins while touring the scenic and historic Galveston harbor on the way to a gorgeous Texas sunset. As the sun sets on another great day on Galveston Island, it often gives way to an incredible display of colors across the entire sky. You’ll have a panoramic view of the show, along with plenty of opportunities for sunset photos too.

For the historic harbor tour, we will embark on a discovery of the Galveston harbor, some of the amazing history it has to offer and also the wildlife that call it home. More than likely, we will have some dolphins cruise by to say hello as we make our way through the port. Depending on the day, cruise ships, big ships, other boats, barges and more can also be seen. This is a unique experience to see galveston from a different perspective, while also enjoying the privacy of being with your own group rather than a crowded tour boat.

We depart and return from our slip at the Galveston Yacht Basin and Marina on the east end of Galveston Island for our 1 hour tour. While on the tour, please feel free to ask questions and learn more about Galveston as well.
