Present in more than 13 regions, including marinas throughout the Adriatic, MennYacht Group embodies the Adriatic yachting appeal
In the realm of luxury yachting, where every detail matters and excellence is non-negotiable, MennYacht Group stands tall as a beacon of unparalleled service and sophistication. As they mark their 30th anniversary, one delves into the history, offerings, and unique experiences that have solidified their position as one of the leaders in the industry in our region.
Today, the company boasts an award-winning team of 53 professionals, offering specialized yachting services across Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania.
The story about MennYacht is closely connected to Matjaž Murko, as the founder and president of the group. From the first days, Matjaž had contagious enthusiasm for yachts, fully aware that they represent the ultimate form of luxury. Always accompanied by his wife Darja they have been protagonists of every major yacht show from the early beginnings. Founded in 1994, what started as a love affair with Pershing Yachts blossomed into a comprehensive suite of services spanning sales, chartering, and maintenance.
In 1998, a pivotal moment occurred when Pershing Yachts joined the illustrious Ferretti Group, broadening MennYacht’s scope and granting exclusive dealership rights for prestigious brands like Ferretti Yachts , Itama and the legendary Riva Yachts . Over the past three decades, the company has expanded its footprint across Europe, establishing a network of offices and service points.
One of keys of their success was to run a company with maximum professionalism, but always keeping the family feeling, having a warm heart for their friends, business associates and even the competition. Human face of the business gave many fruits, but also helping them to spread on many new markets.
The president of the company said: ‘In 1994, when we became a dealer for Pershing we believe that this brand is something special because it combined high performance with supreme comfort and design excellence. The Pershing Yachts where not really present and well known in the Adriatic Sea despite the fact that the Shipyard was in Mondolfo near to Ancona at the Italian Adriatic Coast. At that time the majority of the Pershings where sold in Italy on the Tirenian Sea on the Cote D’Azur and Greece. A 40/50 feet motor Yacht back in 1994 was considered a BIG Yacht. When in 1996 we presented the Pershing 70, Pershing 60, Pershing 40 and Pershing 38 all together at the first Internautica Boat show in Portorož, Slovenia, this was an absolute highlight. People didn’t know anything about Arneson Surface propulsion and we really educated our clients. To this day Pershing 70 & 60 with 2 x CAT 1250 hp and maximum speed of 50 knots are breathtaking Yachts. At that time they were like Space Ships. Very soon we sold our first Pershing 70 . As a comparison on the size of this transaction: that was the same as if you were to sell a 40-metre yacht today. We first delivered the yacht to Portorož, then to Umag, where she is still lying today, owned by a famous Austrian industrialist from day one.’
Navigating the adriatic.
With a presence spanning over 13 regions, including key marinas across the Adriatic Sea and Central Europe, MennYacht Group has become synonymous with the distinctive allure of the Adriatic. While France, Spain, Greece, and Italy have part of the yachting scene, the Adriatic Sea harbors its own allure.
Blessed with serene waters and picturesque islands, the Adriatic offers a playground for luxury yachts to glide effortlessly. MennYacht doesn’t just sell yachts; it sells the promise of unforgettable destinations and a premier lifestyle to match based on the area they truly live.
If one takes as an example their ‘Summer breeze’ show in Kornati islands , or presence in Porto Montenegro , or stellar status and ‘Gala Yacht Ball’ at Kempinski in their home of Portorož, it is easy to see how they live in symbiosis of luxury yachting brands and environment. They always knew the best way to entertain their clients, and it is interesting to see that they share the same vision with Ferretti group organizing luxury events in most beautiful places of the Mediterranean.
At the heart of MennYacht’s offerings lie the illustrious brands of the Ferretti Group – Ferretti yachts, Riva, Pershing and Itama as official dealer, and Custom Line , Wally and CRN as representative, with each brands rich heritage and distinctive character. From the timeless elegance of Riva yachts to the adrenaline-fueled exhilaration of Pershing, each vessel exudes a distinct personality and craftsmanship that epitomizes luxury on the high seas.
As official dealers, MennYacht brings forth not just yachts, but a lifestyle synonymous with refinement. Beyond the transactional aspect of yacht sales lies MennYacht’s commitment to unparalleled service and after-sales support. For those seeking the ultimate escape, MennYacht’s chartering services offer a passport to unrivaled luxury too.
As custodians of the sea, MennYacht Group also recognizes the importance of sustainable practices in preserving the pristine beauty of the marine ecosystem. With a firm commitment to responsible yachting, the company advocates for eco-friendly initiatives and practices, ensuring that future generations can continue to revel in the splendor of the seas. MennYacht Group works closely with organizations such as Your Sea Oasis and similar environmental movements, forging partnerships aimed at promoting marine conservation and protecting our oceans for generations to come.
We asked the president what is his secret for such a big achievements: ‘One of my best qualities is patience. Despite the financial crisis, we kept all our employees, all our offices, all our service locations. We didn’t downsize. We used the crisis to consolidate. A few years ago we joined forces with Pivatus Yachting and we became the distributer for Ferretti Yachts in Croatia as well. Today we are a Team of 53 dedicated professionals. We are considered being an important player in size of territory and coverage throughout Europe. I am proud on the awards we received for our work, in 2009 we were the best distributer Worldwide for the Ferretti Group, in 2017 we were assigned with the best dealer performance Award for Ferretti Yachts worldwide. We received many other prizes and awards including Best After Sales, Best dealer Event, Best Sales performance.’
As MennYacht Group celebrates its 30th anniversary, it does so not just as a purveyor of luxury yachts, but as custodians of an ethos rooted in excellence, integrity, and unwavering commitment to client satisfaction. With eyes set on the horizon, the company continues to chart new waters, guided by the same passion and dedication that have defined its remarkable journey thus far.

With its vast array of picturesque islands, secluded coves and vibrant bustling towns, all steeped in a deeply rich cultural heritage, you will be spoilt for choice for destinations to choose from in Croatia. To make it a little bit easier, we have compiled a list of some of the best places to visit:
Mainland (Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, plus neighbouring Tivat and Montenegro) Best for : UNESCO-listed scenery, sightseeing tours, Roman palaces, monasteries, upscale restaurants, cultural landmarks and vibrant nightlife
Dalmatian Islands (Hvar, Pakleni Islands, Mljet, Trogir, Vis, Korčula, Brač) Best for : Picturesque harbours, secluded coves and golden beaches, crystal clear waters, lush National parks, historic monuments, scuba diving, windsurfing, watersports, hiking, wine tasting and olive groves
Far North - Istria Region (Pula, Kornati Archipelago) Best for : Sandy beaches, sheltered waters, variety of anchorages, museums, Roman ruins, swimming and snorkelling
This is one of the most popular regions for yacht charters in Croatia. Located on the southern coast, its made up of 233 miles of coastline, islands, and reefs, and includes the must-see historic towns of Split and Dubrovnik , as well as hundreds of stunning verdant islands and national parks.
Croatia's second-largest city – its "crown jewel', Split has a history dating back to the 4th century. It is also home to the beautiful Roman Diocletian's Palace , a top recommended destination for your tour.
Split also boasts some of Croatia's largest marinas, and is within shooting distance of the celebrated islands of Korčula , Hvar , Vis, and Brač . Visit the world-famous Zlatni Rat beach on Brač's southern side, or sample the vibrant nightlife and clubbing scene on Hvar, which also plays host to several regattas over the summer season. Further south is Dubrovnik, a UNESCO World Heritage site of huge architectural prominence.
Located in the north of Croatia, this region has a distinctly Italian feel to it, and has plenty of fantastic places to visit. Pula, the region's capital, is crammed with museums, which isn't surprising given its history that dates back to 3,000BC.
Across the water, lies the Brijuni National Park , a group of 14 small picturesque islands easily accesible from the mainland. Slightly to the north, the beautiful old fishing port of Rovinj is also well-worth a visit, with its steep cobbled streets and charming piazzas.
Travel south to historic Zadar , where you can enjoy a quiet walk along marbled streets and pine-scented beaches. Further south you will find the Kornati archipelago , a group of 100 or so relatively barren islands and reefs which are perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
Croatia’s stunning coastline and idyllic verdant islands have made it one of the most popular regions for Mediterranean yacht charters . To truly experience the magic of this country, here are our tips on the places you must check out when you charter a yacht in Croatia.
Avid island-hoppers seeking solitude love a Croatia yacht charter itinerary. Of approximately 1,185 islands just 66 are inhabited, making the unfettered beauty of its isles, inlets and bays ripe for exploration. Among these wonderful islands to explore are the verdant gems of Hvar , Vis, Korčula , and Brač.
But yacht rentals in Croatia are also ideal for guests seeking impressive designer shopping, exquisite wineries and glittering nightlife in its main cities.
Culminating from Illyrian, Roman, Venetian, Christian, and Austrian empires all competing for Croatia’s ownership, Croatia is home to an astoundingly rich cultural heritage. This makes for a fabulous yacht charter: from the Venetian palaces and designer boutiques of the jet-set haven of Hvar; to the Benedictine beauty of the UNESCO-listed walled city of Dubrovnik; to the Italian infused architecture and cosmopolitan ambiance of Pula and beyond.
As one of the most popular destinations for yacht charters in the East Mediterranean , there should be plenty to choose from when it comes to luxury yachts for charter in Croatia. If you’re unsure about whether you want to book a motor yacht or a sailing yacht for your Croatian getaway, there are a few things you should consider first.
Whether you are interested in a small or large motor yacht, or somewhere in between, you should find a Croatia luxury charter that will more than meet your expectations. With a luxury motor yacht you can truly relax; soaking up the stunning scenery, or scuba diving reefs and wrecks under clear aqua waters, or taking a tender ashore to explore ancient Roman palaces and monasteries, as well as sampling the local cuisine and wines.
You should note that berth/slip options in Croatia for larger yachts (over 50m) are limited, however, with plenty of safe and tranquil anchorage spots to choose from amongst the numerous islands, islets, and reefs around this Adriatic hotspot you will be spoilt for choice.
The Adriatic enjoys an average of 315 cloudless days a year, and with winds in Croatia generally around 10-20 knots, this can make chartering a sailing yacht a great option to explore the picturesque islands and secluded beaches at your leisure. The winds do tend to get stronger in the fall, so bear this in mind when booking your charter.
There should be ample sailing yachts, gulets (traditional wooden yachts), and catamarans for charter in Croatia, but we do recommend booking early to secure your perfect yacht and desired itinerary.
Gulets are traditional wooden boats originating from Turkey , but are now widely available throughout Croatia and Greece . These types of boats offer a fantastic and cost-effective alternative to a luxury charter yacht, for those wishing to spend a bit less but still enjoy a fabulous yacht charter in the Mediterranean .
With so many options available, there’s something to suit every type of budget in Croatia. The average prices for motor yacht and sailing yacht charters in Croatia are as follows;
The optimal times for yacht charters in Croatia’s sapphire-hued waters span from May till October. During this time, you can benefit from calmer seas, reliably clement weather, and warm swimming temperatures. Croatia’s peak season is July and August, so expect both higher charter fees and packed marinas in these months.

There are a variety of options, although most yachts charters tend to begin in Dubrovnik or Split in the Dalmatia region, both of which have major international transport links. Another popular option is to set off from Italy or Montenegro and then cruise the Adriatic down towards the Kornati a rchipelago or along the Dalmatia region – encompassing 233 miles of coastline stretching from Krk to Lastovo .
Croatia has numerous must-see destinations and you will be hard-pushed to fit them all in. For itineraries along the southern Dalmatian coast, some yachts may spend a day in port in Dubrovnik – ‘the pearl of the Adriatic’ – before setting off for the picturesque surrounding archipelagos, which include the popular island destinations of Hvar , Mljet, Vis, and Brač . You can either finish your yacht charter back in Dubrovnik or continue on to finish up in Split – the cultural and economic center of Dalmatia.
For yacht charters in the north of Croatia, many like to begin in Venice or Bari, located in Italy’s Puglia (or Apulia) region, before crossing the Adriatic to Croatia's Istria region. From here you can explore the popular island of Pula , with its world-class Roman amphitheater, before cruising down towards Zadar and the Kornati National Park .
Alternatively, you can begin in Porto Montenegro – only an hour’s drive from Dubrovnik – although you may have to cover the cost of repositioning as many luxury charter yachts in Croatia are based in Split.
It’s simple enough to begin your superyacht vacation in a neighboring country before heading to Croatia. For more advice please speak to your yacht charter broker .

We recommend finishing your luxury charter in Split, Croatia's second-largest city and one of the most popular superyacht hotspots on the Adriatic. Renowned for its pristine beaches and crystalline waters, plus with a vibrant mix of things to see and do, you'll be in for a treat.
There are hundreds of harbors, marinas, and ports in Croatia, so whether stopping off in Dubrovnik or sailing to the far side of the Lastovo Archipelago National Park there are sure to be facilities or an anchorage to suit your needs.
There are 56 official marinas along the Croatian coast from Umag to Dubrovnik. Some of out top picks include;
Some of the best ports in Croatia are also located in the Istria region in northern Croatia. We recommend;
For larger berths in the Split-Dalmatia region:
With its rich cultural and architectural history, along with lush national parks and secluded beaches, Croatia is fast becoming one of our most popular destinations. Therefore, we advise you to book your yacht charter well in advance of your trip to secure your perfect yacht on your preferred dates.
If you leave it too late, the selection of yachts at your disposal will be reduced and you may not be able to explore the destinations you have your heart set on. Plus, finding dates when everyone in your charter party is available can be tricky; the longer you leave it, the more challenging it will be.
Your yacht charter broker will also need plenty of time to tailor an itinerary to suit you, and enough time to book ahead for the nights you wish to spend in marinas. We recommend booking up to 3 months in advance to give your broker the optimum time to organise everything down to the last detail.

Some important things to consider before booking your yacht;
There should be a wide selection of yachts to choose from, so there is sure to be something that suits both you and your budget.
Croatian Gulets, traditional wooden yachts with wide beams that offer spacious deck areas and generous accommodation, are a fantastic and cost-effective alternative to a luxury charter yacht. Gulets are available to charter for around €13,500-€15,000 per week, which usually includes food and up to 4 hours cruising per day.
Gulets are also perfect for family charters, or those who simply enjoy spending their time out on deck soaking up the beautiful surroundings of this stunning region.
Why not visit our yacht charter fleet page for a comprehensive look at all yachts available for charter around Croatia.
Alternatively, you can reach out to your preferred yacht broker , who will be sure to help you find your perfect yacht and itinerary around the dates that suit both you and your guests.
The perfect time for yacht charters in Croatia is between May to October, with average temperatures in the mid to high 20s, calm sapphire seas and endless days of glorious sunshine.
You should note that Croatia's peak season is in July and August, so expect both higher charter fees and crowded marinas during these months.
Most charters tend to begin in the beautiful historic towns of Dubrovnik or Split before continuing on to the celebrated islands of Hvar, Mljet, Vis and Brač. Alternatively, you can begin in Montenegro in the south, but you should note there may be additional re-positioning fees to pay as most yachts are based out of Split.
Another option is to begin your yacht charter in Venice, Italy then cross the Adriatic to Croatia's breathtaking northern region before cruising down the coast to Zadar or Split.
Once you have decided on your perfect yacht, your yacht broker will then draw up the necessary contract; a legally binding agreement between you and the owner of the yacht. At this point, based on the type of contract, you will be required to pay 50% of the cost of the yacht up front, with an additional 25-30% of this base rate to cover additional expenses you and your guests are expected to incur whilst on charter.

The small, ultra-luxe 'MV Memories' was the best introduction to Croatia.
Floating in the clear Adriatic near an uninhabited island off Croatia’s coast, I marveled as the sea changed hues from deep blue to turquoise and emerald as it reached the rocky shore. Our daily swimming stops quickly became my favorite part of the cruise, although I also loved arriving at different cities where we could just walk into the town or along the promenade that seemed to be a feature of each harbor. My contemplation of the Adriatic’s color was interrupted by laughter as one of my fellow cruisers gamely struggled once again to stand on his paddleboard, wobbled, and splashed into the sea.
Every morning aboard MV Memories , the captain found a secluded cove for the perfect swim; the Adriatic was cool enough to refresh without feeling chilly for more than the first few seconds. This delightful routine led to our three-course lunch, afternoon cruise time, and arrival at the next port. In some cities, there was a walking tour before we had the late afternoon and evening on our own for exploring and dinner.
Thirty-eight strangers quickly became friends as we mingled at breakfast and lunch tables, learning our fellow travelers’ names and where they were from. We were blessed with sunny, warm weather every day, so afternoons could be spent sunbathing on the upper deck, reading a book, napping on a cushioned lounge, or enjoying a cold gin and tonic in the shade (my choice most days). Arriving at a new city each day was exciting, as medieval towers, ancient city walls, and historic buildings greeted us. Walking tours provided background and an introduction to most of the cities, and then we were on our own for dinner and the evening. How cool it was to stay out late and then just walk back to the waiting ship for the night.
MV Memories instantly became a comfortable and welcoming home-away-from-home for the week, whether in our well-appointed cabin, on the sun deck, or relaxing in a shaded lounge chair. "The vessels we operate were built in 2021, and we’re proud to have the youngest fleet of ships in Croatia. This really enhances the cruising experience for guests as the staterooms they rest their heads in, the dining areas they eat in, and the expansive lounge and sundeck areas around the ship all feel new and modern, like a luxury boutique hotel," Graham Carter, chief commercial officer at Unforgettable Travel Company, told Travel + Leisure.
"Unforgettable specializes in balcony ships, and most of our vessels have upper deck cabins with private balconies, so our guests can relax and watch the islands go by from the comfort of their balcony," Carter added. "We also operate the longest vessels in Croatia, which stand at 170 feet, compared to most vessels in Croatia, which are around 150 feet. This additional space means our cabins are slightly larger than most.”
Carter pointed out another advantage of the ship’s size: "The benefit of exploring the Croatian coast on a small vessel like ours is the ability to get into smaller hidden destinations off limits to bigger ships or even yachts. As our vessels are all registered in Croatia, we can dock directly in smaller ports overnight, giving our guests the ability to enjoy excursions and dinner on shore each evening without the rush of having to get back to the ship before it leaves."
Every detail during the week felt both luxurious and comfortably casual at the same time. Each day offered surprises — like an unexpected pizza party one late afternoon — along with what quickly became familiar. Alex and Vlada, our hosts, made everyone feel welcome and pampered, and, like the other guests, felt like old friends by the end of the cruise — which came way too soon. I wholeheartedly agree with Carter’s comment: “We find that guests board as complete strangers, and by the captain’s dinner at the end of the week, it’s like a happy family where everyone knows one another, and they’re swapping phone numbers on the last day.”
Here are more details about our seven-night cruise along the coast of Croatia aboard MV Memories .
The 19 staterooms each measure between 161 and 183 square feet of efficiently used space. They have a desk, nightstand with two drawers, twin or full beds, spacious closet, small sofa, safe deposit box, life jackets, and a window (or porthole on the lower deck). The bathrooms have a shower, sink, hair dryer, and toilet, and each cabin has individually controlled air conditioning. Free, dependable Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship.
Nearly identical in design, the MV Bellissima and MV Memories , Unforgettable Travel’s Croatia Signature cruise ships, were launched in 2021. They feature state-of-the-art technology and modern design details. MV Memories offers one Superior VIP Deck Cabin and 10 VIP private balcony cabins. MV Bellissima features 11 VIP private balcony cabins; both ships have eight lower deck porthole cabins.
A buffet breakfast is served daily in the main dining room from 8 until 9:30 a.m.; coffee and tea are available from 7 a.m. There’s a daily three-course lunch with a delicious soup, salad, or risotto starter, main course, and dessert. Two dinners — the welcome dinner and captain’s dinner — are provided, and wine is offered along with meals. A full bar with a lounge area is on the main deck; on the sun deck, there’s a large bar in the shaded area. Dining is informal, with no dress code. Alex, our head bartender, hosted a wine and olive oil tasting aboard the ship one afternoon.
During cruising — or anytime on the ship — guests can find lounge chairs, a jacuzzi, and shaded and sunny areas on the upper deck. The main deck features the restaurant and a covered outdoor lounge with sofas. The ships offer many places for sunbathing, quiet time, or gatherings. Board games, playing cards, and novelty games are available for guests.
From May to October, the ships cruise between Split and Dubrovnik with adults-only, seven-night cruises.
Several shore excursions took guests inland from the Adriatic coast to see more of Croatia. We traveled on plush, air-conditioned buses to Krka Waterfalls National Park, the Blue Cave on the Island of Bisevo, Mljet National Park, a winery, and an oyster farm in Ston. In addition, walking tours were offered in Split, Hvar, Old Town Korcula, and Dubrovnik. Tour guides were professional, informative, and entertaining.
The Signature Croatia Cruises are adults only; guests must be at least 18.
Unforgettable Travel Company offers seven-night cruises for $2,295 per person, including breakfast, lunch, private transfers, all excursions, and Wi-Fi. Flights are not included. For further information on 2025 departures, visit https://unforgettabletravel.com/ or call +1-844-879-7838.

Lynch’s was among five bodies retrieved by divers on Wednesday after the Bayesian sank, according to reports.
Five bodies were retrieved on Wednesday, and a sixth on Friday , by divers searching for those missing from the superyacht which sank off the Sicilian coast in the Mediterranean. The bodies found include British tech tycoon Mike Lynch , the UK’s Telegraph reported. The bodies have not been formally identified by the authorities yet.
It is understood that they were retrieved from inside the sunken yacht, which is reported to be lying on its side on the sea bed at a depth of 50 metres
One dead, six missing after luxury superyacht capsizes off sicily coast, luxury yacht sinks off sicilian coast, uk extradites autonomy co-founder mike lynch to us, how serious are the wildfires near athens, greece.
This brings the total death toll to seven; one person, reported to be the chef from the yacht, was confirmed dead on Monday.
The yacht capsized on Monday at about 5am (03:00 GMT) after it was hit by stormy weather caused by a “waterspout” – or mini tornado – according to Italian authorities.
The cruise had reportedly been undertaken to celebrate the acquittal of Lynch in a fraud trial in the United States in June.
His co-defendant in the trial, Steve Chamberlain, who was also acquitted in June, was killed after being hit by a car on Saturday.
Here’s what is known so far about the yacht, those on board and who died or were still missing after it sank.
According to the Italian coastguard, the 56-metre-long (184 feet) British-flagged yacht, called the Bayesian, was carrying 22 people, including 10 crew members.
One person has been confirmed dead after rescuers located a body on Monday at a depth of about 50 metres (164 feet), the AFP news agency reported. Officials have not yet given the name of the deceased but Italian media reported that he was the yacht’s chef.
AFP reported on Tuesday that divers had spotted a second body inside the sunk boat, quoting a source close to the search operation. Authorities have not confirmed it yet, though.
While not all the names of the six missing passengers were not made public officially, they were understood to include:
Fifteen people, including Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, were rescued. Among others rescued were Charlotte Golunski, 36, a board director at Luminance, a software startup founded by Lynch; her husband, James; and their one-year-old daughter, Sophie. Golunski is understood to have kept her daughter alive by holding her above her head while she was in the water.
All those rescued are in stable condition, although eight of them have been hospitalised, according to Italian news agency Adnkronos.
Italian shipbuilder Perini Navi constructed the superyacht in 2008 and refitted it in 2020, according to the company’s website.
The yacht’s owner is listed as Revtom Limited, a firm solely owned by Lynch’s wife, Bacares, according to company documents seen by the Reuters news agency.
It was formerly called Salute but was renamed Bayesian after Lynch’s PhD thesis and his software that earned him a fortune. Both of these were based on the statistical Bayesian theory, championed by mathematician Thomas Bayes.
The Bayesian was last located on Sunday evening in the Tyrrhenian Sea, east of the harbour at Porticello, according to ship tracking websites Vessel Finder and Marine Traffic.
Porticello is a port city located near the Sicilian capital, Palermo.
The yacht had departed on August 14 from the Sicilian port of Milazzo. Its destination was reported to be the Italian city of Bagheria by the tracking websites.
Italian authorities reported that the stormy conditions that caused the yacht to sink were triggered by a waterspout.
A waterspout is a rotating column of whirling air and water mist – sometimes referred to as a mini tornado – according to the website of the US National Ocean Service.
The website adds that a tornadic waterspout is a tornado that forms over water or moves from land to water. They are similar to land tornadoes and can occur during thunderstorms.
Chamberlain, 52, was Lynch’s co-defendant in a fraud trial in San Francisco, which saw both men acquitted in June.
Chamberlain died in a hospital from injuries sustained when he was hit by a car while out running in Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, on Saturday. His death was confirmed by his lawyer Gary Lincenberg in a statement on Monday.
The fraud case related to Hewlett Packard’s $11bn acquisition of Autonomy, the firm Lynch grew into the UK’s leading tech company before it spectacularly unravelled after being bought by HP in 2011.
Lynch was extradited to the US in May 2023 and he spent more than a year under house arrest before his acquittal. Chamberlain was the former vice president of finance at Autonomy.
The yacht trip was supposedly a celebration of Lynch’s acquittal.
Specialist divers began a search anew for the six missing people on Tuesday. Three divers, equipped with oxygen cylinders, descended beneath the surface to examine the wreck.
They initially faced difficulty accessing the yacht’s chambers because they were constricted by furniture.
An investigation into the wreck has been opened by prosecutors in the nearby Sicilian town of Termini Imerese.
“It was terrible. The boat was hit by really strong wind and shortly after it went down,” survivor Golunski told the ANSA news agency.
She added that she had lost hold of her one-year-old daughter in the water for “two seconds”, but then managed to grab her and hold her up over the waves until a lifeboat inflated and they were both pulled to safety. She reported that people were screaming.
Karsten Borner, a captain of a nearby yacht who witnessed the sinking, said he had turned on the engine of his ship to prevent collision with the Bayesian. “We managed to keep the ship in position and after the storm was over, we noticed that the ship behind us was gone,” he told reporters.
Bloomer’s wife, Judy, is a trustee of the Eve Appeal, a UK-based gynaecological cancer research charity. Athena Lamnisos, the CEO of the Eve Appeal, was quoted by the BBC saying she was “deeply shocked to hear the news that our very dear friend and her husband Jonathan, are among those missing”.
