We offer a beautiful granite bar, for our patrons to enjoy libations, as they take in the gorgeous lake view, from our floor to ceiling windows. A private dock, with a screened in Pavilion. A traditional dance floor, not complete without our color customizing disco ball, and a surround sound audio system. I agree with Yelper Janene who said: "he building is dated but the location is great" And it really is dated but being right on the water, has wonderful views. A lot of it looks like it's the same as its 1913 establishment date. The claim to fame is that the Mount Dora Yacht Club is Florida's oldest inland Yacht Club. But guess what it doesn't have? It doesn't have any yachts; hence a yachtless yacht club. So, about the only use of the place is as a rental facility for weddings, etc.
The building is dated but the location is great! Located right in downtown Mount Dora, right on the lake, and a shirt walk to the shopping district. We attended a wedding here and it was very nice. Half of the main room was set up for dancing while the other was set up for dining. There are large picture windows which take in the view. Parking was roped off and was very limited. It is an interesting history lesson looking at all the photos and memorabilia along the walls. Even though the building is dated it is still charming, much like Mount Dora itself!

71st Annual Yacht Club Reggatta Ready To Set Sail
Mount Dora welcomes sailors from all over the state to the MDYC's 71st Annual Regatta on Saturday and Sunday, March 23rd – 24th 2024. The races begin around noon on Sat and 9:30am on Sun near the lighthouse at Graham Pointe. Watching the beautiful masts move across Lake Dora is a sight you won’t want to miss. With three courses and almost 100 sailors and some good weather, it hopes to be a breathtaking sight for participants and spectators alike all over Lake Dora. The Mount Dora Yacht Club comes together with almost all of its members volunteering to serve in some way at this weekend long event each year. For 2024 they are proud to have Advent Health as the presenting sponsor. In addition, another 50+ sponsors give to make this a true sailor’s delight. Coming from all over the state, the sailors’ ages range from 8-80. The committee has met their goal to enlist more junior sailors by providing scholarships and this year is a big success doing just that! Families in Florida have many opportunities to be active outdoors and being on the water is no exception. “We are thrilled to have more youth sailors participating in our regatta this year than ever. In addition to Lake Eustis Sailing-Youth Foundation, who has supported this regatta for years, we also have three other youth sailing groups” says Regatta Chairperson, Edee Robinson. “The skills learned are true life skills including applied mathematics and science, balance, agility, strength, and overall confidence…alongside the youth will be adult sailors, many who have been sailing for decades”, says Robinson. Participants not only come to sail but they also boost our economy…many staying in downtown Airbnb’s, local hotels and the like. The rich tradition of sailing and a community coming together for water sporting makes the MDYC’s Regatta the longest standing event in Mt Dora and the longest running annual festival in the state. It's our 70th Annual Sailing Regatta! The first sailing Regatta was held in 1953- we'll be looking back over the years and celebrating all weekend!
Early bird registration is available for 2023 regatta at $50 ( $5 discount for US Sailing members) until February 3rd 2023.
Registration will be "all-inclusive" with no "tickets" to keep track of. (You Will have a wrist band though!) Registration will include t-shirt (1), catered Skipper's dinner Saturday evening at MDYC, beer & soda, and bagged breakfast/snacks both days.
PLEASE NOTE: Registration fees for Boats with Crew will include $25 extra per crew, which will include Saturday dinner, bagged breakfasts both days, and of course, beer & soda! The crew will be emailed after registration to complete their waiver and information.
Similar details to previous years' regattas with three courses. Youth Course, Open Class ( Portsmouth course), and single design courses. (to be determined by registrations)
Of course, we can't guarantee the weather, but we can guarantee the great hospitality of the MDYC and its membership!

The goal of the club is to provide an enjoyable atmosphere where sailors can gather for social events, promote water activities, and cultivate community relations. In 1913, and a group of fellow boat owners met at his boathouse to discuss and make plans for organizing a yacht club. They enthusiastically drew up Articles of Incorporation, subscribed money to buy land on the lake and build a clubhouse, and voted for the officers, making himself the first Commodore. Built at a cost of $5,000, the clubhouse was ready for the new members to enjoy by October of the same year. The first Regatta, featuring power boats, took place shortly after the opening of the . Many regattas were held that year to encourage boating, but the first one was so special that all the businesses closed so everyone in town could watch the races. The , the received its charter on October 11, 1913, signed by Governor Park Trammel. The club has been in existence ever since and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2003. The original club was formed for the "promotion of yachting and education in seamanship." All members were required to be boat owners, a rule which was enforced until the 1940s, when the loss of membership due to the war, and gasoline rationing made the requirement impractical. During World War II, several MDYC members assisted the Coast Guard in patrolling Lake Harris every day. The Club itself was used as a USO during the war, and food was prepared by the members, who bore both the expense and the sacrifice of some of their food ration coupons in order to provide for the servicemen and women who visited the USO. Some 17,000 servicemen and women were entertained at the . At the time Mount Dora’s population was less than 4,000 people. The club never closed its doors, even though World War II took a heavy toll on the membership. It remains the in Florida. Both regattas and cruises were major activities in earlier years, and continue to be so today. In the beginning, however, races were held for power boats and speed racing. Since 1953, have replaced them, and have been held every year since except for one when a storm with lightning prevented the Regatta from taking place. In 1966, the original building burned, and a new one took its place at the foot of 4th Avenue on Lake Dora.
