Lil Yachty Reveals How He Formed His Tight Bond With Drake

Drake and Lil Yachty

Lil Yachty's friendship with Drake has benefitted both artists in more ways than one. After contributing beats to Her Loss last year, Yachty is sharing exactly how he got so close with the 6 God. During his debut appearance on the Rap Radar Podcast , which dropped on Thursday, February 23, hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian "B. Dot" Miller kick off the conversation by discussing the reception to Yachty's latest album Let's Start Here . Yachty said he appreciated the praise but feels there's more to be done. He also explained why he felt like he wasn't respected as an artist or a rapper.

“I did things when was trying to prove myself as a rapper, and I’m past that… now I’m trying to prove myself as an artist.” @lilyachty clarifies his comments of being taken “seriously as an artist” in a new @RapRadar interview. #OGM pic.twitter.com/ELdxpv6g4g — Our Generation Music (@OGMusicCo) February 23, 2023

"I do more than rap," Yachty said. "For a long time in my career, I wanted to be taken seriously as a rapper and I said that. So I would go try and do radio interviews or freestyles or whatever because I did Michigan Boy Boat and I did things to prove that I was a rapper, and I'm passed that. Now I'm proving that I'm an artist... I never wrote off being a rapper as not like being taken serious or not being as big as other genres/musicians or any of that. I just specifically myself, not speaking or nobody else or genre, want to be taken seriously as an artist." Later on the conversation, Yachty also mentioned that he tried to get other artists like The Weeknd and Kid Cudi to contribute to the album, but ultimately settled for his friends like Justine Skye and Daniel Caesar . After B. Dot brought up his best friend Drake, Wilson asked Yachty about how he got involved with Drizzy and 21 Savage's Her Loss LP. Yachty produced songs like “Major Distribution,” “Privileged Rappers,” “Circo Loco" and “Jumbrotron S**t Poppin." “I, for a very long time, wanted to do anything involving music with [Drake],” Yachty said. “So I’ve been telling him for the last, like, I don’t know how many years, like, ‘Bro...can I even just be in the room? I just wanna soak it up and see how you do it. I wanna see you rap, I wanna anything, you know?’ For real. I just feel like he’s -- to my opinion -- the greatest rapper ever. And that’s my personal opinion. I ain’t arguing with nobody or their mama.” Watch the newest episode of the Rap Radar Podcast via Interval Presents below.

The Secret Recipe: How Lil Yachty Influenced Drake’s Current Era

From his style choices to his music, Lil Yachty has had a ton of influence on his good friend Drake lately.

We’ve all had that one close friend who has influenced us in some way. Maybe they put us onto a new musician or swayed us to buy something from their favorite clothing brand. For Drake, that friend right now is Lil Yachty.

Since first working together on “Oprah’s Bank Account” in 2020, the duo’s friendship has blossomed into something much greater. Last year, Drake invited Yachty to fly on his private jet to celebrate his 25th birthday. They've constantly thrown friendly jabs at each other in Instagram comments. Drake even pulled up to Yachty’s show for a surprise performance . It’s clear these two have formed a close bond that goes deeper than rap.

“That’s my fucking guy. I talk to Drake every day,” Yachty told Complex in a 2022 interview. “Me and the Boy are really, really close. He’s like my fucking brother.”

Today’s release of For All the Dogs is the latest evidence of Yachty's influence on Drake’s current era. He appeared on “Another Late Night” and racked up writing and producing credits on five tracks in total. But the influence isn’t limited to just music. From visuals to his personal style, Yachty has seemingly played a role in this stage of Drake’s illustrious career. Now, we aren’t saying that Drake’s current moves are all completely due to Yachty. Some of it may just be pure coincidence. However, a lot of these similarities are too close to overlook.

Personal Style

drake lil yachty show

Drake has never exactly been influential when it comes to his personal style . Not to say he has dressed poorly his whole career, but his style choices have never been as influential as rappers like ASAP Rocky or Travis Scott . Lately, he seems to have found a lane that works by pairing baggier pants with bulky footwear and vintage sports jerseys. Drake’s stylist, Drew Ferguson, is part of this transformation, but Yachty has also helped Drake broaden his horizons when it comes to fashion. The biggest example would have to be Drake starting to paint his nails. In July 2023 , Drake gave credit to Yachty for inspiring him to try it out, saying, “You told me to paint my nails so I stop biting them and now the world is being homophobic for the first time since 'Rich Flex.'” During his seven-day stop in New York City for the It’s All a Blur tour, Drake also did some shopping at one of Yachty’s go-to vintage stores, First Team Vintage. That’s where he bought these Reggie Miller pieces . Not to get too speculative, but rocking up-and-coming brands like Domenico Formichetti’s PDF also feels like something that could be attributed to Yachty’s friendship. The “Strike” rapper has always stayed tapped in with new designers like  Aris Tatalovich and Filthy , while Drake has usually stuck to more established labels like Chrome Hearts or Stone Island. Never forget that they even coordinated fur looks together when attending 21 Savage’s Freaknik party last year. Yachty is one of the best dressed rappers right now. At the very least, Drake appears to be taking some pointers from him. Who knows what he may put Drake onto next.

Sound and Visuals

Drake’s admiration of Lil Yachty’s ear isn’t new. In a 2023 Rap Radar interview , Yachty explained how Drake has supported him in the past before they were working together as closely as they do now. “He was one of the first people to post one of my albums and just be like, ‘Man, your beat selections are so crazy.’ And that’s crazy to hear from him, especially during times when nobody was really fuckin’ with me. Like, I never had many rap friends.”

Their working relationship up to this point has been most obvious on Her Loss . While Yachty doesn’t have a verse on the project, his fingerprints are all over it. His ad libs fit perfectly between Drake’s bars on “Major Distribution” (hmph hmph). “BackOutsideBoyz” might as well be a Yachty throwaway. On the track, Drake experiments with sing-songy flows similar to Yachty’s delivery. Yachty’s “okay” and “it’s us” ad libs are sprinkled throughout. He also has official writing or producing credits on tracks, including “Privileged Rappers,” “Spin Bout U,” “Broke Boys,” “Pussy and Millions,” “Jumbotron Shit Poppin,” “Circo Loco,” “BackOutsideBoyz,” and “More M’s.” Following the release of Her Loss, Drake made sure to shoutout Yachty for his contributions on his Instagram story, writing, “Where would I be without our friendship @lilyachty I love ya kid thank you for your time, your incredible talent and your adlib game.” Yachty also selected the cover art, a photo of Suki Baby by Paris Arden . In a now-deleted Instagram post, Yachty wrote, “I Chose This Cover Because This Photo Is So Raw… So Authentic.. Not Fabricated.. Suki Can And Will Only Be Suki.”

Drake valued Lil Boat’s contributions so much that he tapped him once again to have a huge presence on  For All the Dogs . This time, he is featured on the track “Another Late Night.” The track is accompanied by a visual directed by Cole Bennett, the popular Chicago director who has worked with Yachty on numerous occasions for “Strike,” “Tesla,” and “Yae Energy.” Once again, Lil Boat's adlibs are sprinkled throughout on tracks like "What Would Pluto Do." He is also nabs writing and production credits on the tracks "Calling for You," "What Would Pluto Do," "Another Late Night," "Away From Home," and "Polar Oppposites." The Boat Effect is real.

Media Opportunities

Drake doesn’t do much press. Frankly, he doesn’t have to. Although he still hasn’t sat down for a serious conversation since his Rap Radar interview in 2019, we have seen Drake take on more playful media opportunities lately. In February 2023, we saw him appear alongside his son, Adonis, on Barstool Sports’ Sundae Conversation to chat about topics that included the fictional Canadian hall of fame and if Dan Aykroyd invented Patrón tequila (he did not). Yachty had appeared on the program a year prior to Drake. More recently, Drake had a trip to the strip club Starlets documented by comedic street show Sidetalk NYC. In September 2023, Drake was photographed alongside popular streamer Kai Cenat . Yachty has been closely connected to AMP, the content creation group that Cenat is part of, and even released a cypher with members of the group in July 2023. We wouldn’t be shocked if Yachty connected the last few dots to make sure those two met face to face. While it hasn’t come to fruition yet, during an interview with popular child reporter Jazzy, Yachty said that he would try to make a Drake interview happen, proving that he does have some kind of influence on the outlets that his friend speaks with. The two friends sat down to have their own moody conversation back in February that showed off how much chemistry they have together. Drake might have even influenced Yachty to take some unconventional interviews. Yachty appeared on Bobbi Althoff's "Really Good Podcast" just one week after Althoff uploaded her viral episode featuring Drake.

We aren’t claiming that Yachty is booking all of these media opportunities, but it is no secret that Yachty is chronically online. Just look at his TikTok profile or A Safe Place Podcast for proof. It isn’t far-fetched to think that Yachty could have encouraged Drake to participate in some of these more lighthearted conversations or introduced him to some of these platforms. We may not be getting a deep sit-down with Drake anytime soon, but at least he isn’t totally avoiding interviews anymore.

Yachty's General Influence

Yachty may have said it best on the recently released track “The Secret Recipe,” where he proclaims, “Allegedly, they figured out that I’m the secret recipe.” The bar is less about the specific influence he has had on Drake that we are discussing here and more about his overall impact. Musically, he has continued to explore new sounds and was one of the first mainstream artists to tap into Detroit’s energetic rap scene with projects like Michigan Boy Boat . His 2023 album, Let’s Start Here, veered away from rapping into the genre of psych rock. Infectious tracks like “Poland” and “Strike,” with its echo-y vocals and synths, are some of the biggest tracks of the year that are helping define rap’s current sound. Following the release of “Secret Recipe,” DJ Akademiks even gave Yachty some praise of his own, citing that Yachty has writing credits on City Girls’ anthem “Act Up,” which was instrumental in kick-starting this era where rap is being dominated by female acts from Sexyy Red to Latto.

Yachty doubles down on his influence later on in his “The Secret Recipe” verse when he raps, “Refused to act like I ain’t shift the sound, like I ain’t push the culture.” Yachty has been influential for a while now, but has always remained overlooked despite his successes or pegged as nothing more than a “mumble rapper.” Now that he’s in closer proximity to one of the biggest stars on the planet, it feels like more people are finally ready to give him the flowers that he’s rightfully deserved.

After Drake and Lil Yachty, Rap Show ‘On The Radar’ Plans to Keep the Hits Coming

By Mankaprr Conteh

Mankaprr Conteh

This summer, hip-hop channel On The Radar was on everyone’s radar as it rose to become one of the internet’s finest purveyors of freestyle videos and interviews, reaching a new high with a Drake appearance featuring buzzing U.K. rap star Central Cee . Both traded bars at the show’s New York studio, shrouded in its signature green-means-go lights. Beyond producing the best music meme of the season (Drake slurring “combination” in one of his infamous accents during the song’s intro) it also produced one of the hottest rap songs of the summer. The internet moves quickly, though — in another life, the song would still be ringing off everywhere, but even On The Radar has kept it moving. Lil Yachty teased his own freestyle days ago and it arrived on October 6, meaning OTR snagged yet another hitmaker having a career-redefining moment, with Yachty still shapeshifting after a decade as one of rap’s most enthralling weirdos.

Editor’s picks

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, inside sammy davis jr.'s secret satanic past .

So it started off with us just going into our back catalog of freestyles, seeing who produced some of these records that were our friends, so we could easily get them to sign off on it. And then of course, the artists who we’re friends with that would easily sign off on it. The goal for the year was to drop 300 records on streaming. And we’ve done about maybe, I think I counted the other day, it’s around 125 to 130, but we’ve done a pretty good job of that so far. We’ve also used that opportunity to build and grow into live EPs, which we started off with our friend wolfacejoeyy , who’s blown up off our platform twice. So we did a whole live EP with him. My dad used to have the Nirvana MTV Unplugged Live DVD that we used to watch all the time. So it brought me back to that.

Vic spencer’s sean price tribute album will make you 'punch a school bus' , yung miami breaks silence on her relationship with sean combs: 'that wasn't my experience'.

So the goal is not necessarily to sign artists to contracts for projects, but t o do singles, EPs, stuff like that? Gabe: We do want to eventually sign artists down the line and then Tobby will one day move into more of a management position for artists. But right now we don’t have the necessary funds that we need to make that happen where it makes sense to sign artists. So until then, it’s just like, let’s just put out dope music and just let that ride and see what happens. The most music we ever dropped on a Friday was 14 singles.

John Nurse: The thing is we distribute through ourselves. So a lot of people been on our line stuff as far as distribution, like [proposing a joint venture with a major label] so we’re trying to look for the right situation, but right now we’re going to do it all ourselves.

What would doing everything you’ve set out to do look like? Gabe P: There’s no angle. It’s just like what’s next? Because if I set an angle for myself, then I’m limiting myself. You know what I’m saying? Drake was just a stepping stone. You could ask [Tobbylola and John], a week after the Drake thing went up, they’re like, “so are you feeling it?” And I’m like, “cool.” Oh, it’s number one on RapCaviar . I’m like, okay, that’s cool. We got shit to do.

With the Drake freestyle on DSPs, did your labels put that out together? John: No. You don’t really tell Drake how to move, but there was good collaborative effort. We worked with the label to get it out there. We had some terms and demands. They told us what they could do and we met in the middle.

Tobbylola, tell me about your path. Tobbylola: I was working in media since I graduated from high school. I was writing for my school’s newspaper. Then when I went onto college, I had the opportunity to start interning at Hot 97. Then at a point I started writing for The Source and then for Lyrical Lemonade. One day I started doing press runs to assist artists. I was working with Boston Richie at the time, and I wanted to bring him to Gabe’s platform. So I had hit up my friend Shauna James from Atlantic Records, and I was like, “Hey, can you connect me with him?” And she did. And I brought Richie over to him and I was like, “I see your set-up here. It is cool. I feel like I could bring some structure.” I felt like I got artists from writing for Lyrical, so I could probably bring them over there. And I was like, “let’s just cook up.” One day Gabe just called me and was like, “Hey, I got my studio now. So you said you want to help me with scheduling, let’s just try for a week.” And then we just tried for a week and then to now they’re obsessed. They haven’t let me go since. But really we just created a family. I just saw there was stuff that was missing there. And then I tried to just be that person to just come on board and really just connect the dots where it made sense

John: A few people have asked me, “You don’t want to go back to the majors?” I’m like, yeah, no, because over there you have to do so much just to get recognized and just to move up, as opposed to now I’m at the head of an independent level and doing bigger things than I would’ve had responsibility for over there.

They’re very steeped in their tradition. It’s like, media publications are like that too, right? John: Especially radio. I used to work in promotions. A lot of people that were there when I was there in 2013, ’14, they’re all still there now. And respectfully, it’s great to hold a job. I ain’t trying to take nobody out. But also there’s got to be some type of balance where you got a lot of young people and the old people to coincide.

Tobbylola: I think that’s what makes On The Radar so different is because really this is a team that was like, we’re all just coming together now, just trying to make things make sense. It’s really not no old head who’s on top of us [saying] “Do this, do this.” The old head really is Gabe.

Gabe P: The old head really is John.

Tobbylola: No, you know I didn’t want to say that. But if you saying whose brand, who calls the shots, obviously it’s Gabe’s brand.

Gabe P: And there’s no one who’s been this young who’s had this much impact on the culture in such a short period of time. You know what I’m saying? I’m not knocking anybody, but I’m saying that there hasn’t been someone who maybe since Angie Martinez or early days of Stretch and Bobbito — they was in college really when they were putting on with Wu-Tang and Biggie and all them, they were the youngest. But since that era of radio, Angie and Flex, no one this young has had this much of an impact on the culture in this type of period of time. And who has given you Drake, Ice Spice, all on the same platform all while maintaining…yeah, Drake was on the platform, but we’re someone dropping today on the platform who has 4,000 followers on the ‘Gram. Nobody does that. Nobody thinks to do that.

Gabe: I found [Bronx drill rapper] Kay Flock, I did Kay Flock’s first interview. I found B Lovee and Dougie B, I did their first and only interview where all three of them are together. That was the start of everything. DThang , I brought people DThang, I brought people Ice Spice.

John: Literally broke Ice Spice.

Gabe: Literally broke Ice Spice, you know what I’m saying? I did GloRilla’s first-ever New York City interview, you know what I’m saying? So there’s a lot of things that we’ve done that have just paved the way for a lot of other things.

Tobbylola: And then we’re super humble on top of that. It’s so many platforms. For me, I personally feel like we have a team that’s so grateful.

I think y’all are interesting because there are performances, but then there are also interviews. What is the relationship between the two? Being a media platform that does journalistic work and performance work? Gabe P: I mean, I came up under Angie Martinez and I feel like, I don’t really need to say more than that. I feel like hip-hop media right now is everybody wants clicks. Gabe:

The Man Behind the Steele Dossier Is Ready to Talk

Fact checkers try to shield trump from project 2025’s abortion madness, 'black myth: wukong' is a hit. but why is the game so controversial, why are donald trump and tim walz both talking about bruce springsteen.

John: And a lot of that also comes from the niche that we have at On The Radio. You catch somebody young and early, you build that relationship through time and trust through time. So they know what they getting into when they come to you. Like, oh no, that’s my mans, he wouldn’t do that to me . And that’s a fact. He wouldn’t do that to you.

Tobbylola: And let Drake’s previous press run in New York be a testimony that these artists, they want to hit these newer platforms. What y’all need to understand is the music industry is changing. The platforms that are catering to the artists are changing as well. And it’s your best bet to probably adapt to how this industry is changing, rather than hating on the new platforms that are creating their own thing.

Lil Yachty Accused Of Unfollowing Drake Amid Rumors He’s Being Cut From Their Leaked Collab

Drake and Lil Yachty may be at odds with each other—well, at least that’s what fans are currently speculating. While the evidence is somewhat inconclusive, nosy fans believe they have the receipts to back up their theory that Drizzy has upset Lil Boat and possibly fractured their relationship.

The circumstances causing the rift, one might ask? None other than one of the Toronto rapper‘s patented leaked releases. To be more specific, it appears the mellow drama may have erupted over the “Super Soak (S.O.D.)” collaboration that Yachty gave to streamer Kai Cenat to leak during a stream last month.

The track itself has seemingly already caused more than enough controversy, between Soulja Boy responding and threatening to figuratively choose violence should the song end up being a sneak diss, and Yachty revealing they leaked the song because they couldn’t get the sample cleared.

However, after reports that Drake is readying the song for an official release accompanied by a music video, but not a featured verse from Lil Boat as expected, the track has begun causing a stair once again.

Now, it appears the scandal attached to the release relates to Yachty’s alleged reaction to being taken off of the track. Instagram users pointed out that it appears as though Yachty unfollowed Drake on Instagram shortly after the rumors began circulating that his verse had been cut from the song.

But it appears as though the fan theory is either half-baked or Yachty was fully cooked on social media and reacted quickly considering fans also pointed out that Lil Boat appeared to be following Drizzy again after being called out on the timeline.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by AllHipHop (@allhiphopcom)

Though it feels like a bit of a reach to assume there is trouble in paradise for this collaborative pair based on a pair of screenshots from Instagram, the situation could also be very plausible. Yachty did end up swearing off of the Internet, after being roasted online following the interview he revealed the reason why social media influencer Mr. Hotspot denied clearing the sample for he and Drake in the first place.

“We couldn’t get the sample cleared so I just let Kai play it,” he shared. Yachty also announced that they were not officially releasing the track. “But it’s everywhere,” he said, adding that Mr. Hotspot “went down like a Christian path…it was crazy, everyone was like, ‘Are you serious?'”

In a sense, it wouldn’t be hard to believe that Lil Yachty is somewhat scorned by Drake’s choice to remove him from the track given all of the effort he’s put forth in order to bring it to the masses.

Lil Yachty Sparks Rumors Of Drake Rift With Instagram Unfollowing Drama

Lil Yachty Sparks Rumors Of Drake Rift With Instagram Unfollowing Drama

Lil Yachty has caused confusion among fans with some curious social media activity involving Drake .

Eagle-eyed fans noticed on Tuesday (August 20) that Yachty had unfollowed Drizzy — with whom he’s become close friends and collaborators in recent years — on Instagram.

After the move sparked speculation about the two falling out, Lil Boat appeared to re-follow Drake shortly afterwards.

Drake is also the most recent person that Lil Yachty has followed on the social media platform, implying that he did indeed unfollow his “Another Late Night” collaborator.

While it is not known if issues have emerged between two, Lil Yachty unfollowing Drake came shortly after it was reported that the 6 God is planning to release their leaked song “Super Soak” as a solo track.

“I heard it’s coming out, people, with a music video,” claimed Akademiks on his Rumble livestream earlier this week. “Now, it’s some interesting shit going on here. I hear the ‘Super Soak’ track is coming out, music video included. One caveat: there’s no Lil Yachty on it.

“That’s a little confusing to me […] because it was Yachty’s song initially. Drake sent that to Yachty for it to be on Yachty’s  Concrete [Boys] project .

“This is not a source from Drake, by the way. I have multiple other sources outside of Drake. And Drake doesn’t even know I’m telling y’all this.

“I saw something that could be a music video and it eerily matches a silhoutte that I’d seen Drake post,” Ak added, before pulling up  a picture of the rapper’s new hairstyle .

“Super Soak” has already caused a fair bit of controversy since it was premiered by Kai Cenat on his Twitch channel last month, with Soulja Boy thinking Drake was taking shots at him on the song.

Drizzy rapped: “I’m watching the moves, playin’ it close / SOD, super soak.”

The line appeared to be an overt reference to Soulja’s record label Stacks on Deck, as well as his 2007 song “Super Soak,” and came after  Big Draco had taunted Drake on social media  for losing his beef to  Kendrick Lamar .

Hitting back at the perceived diss in a vicious rant on Instagram Live, Soulja said: “Drake, you better keep that shit light, my boy. This your first and only warning. If you doing a shoutout, cool. If you’re in any form, shape or way trying to disrespect me or sneak diss, I’m on yo ass, boy. This not gon’ be the best idea for you, family.”

Soulja later revealed that he and Drizzy had cleared the air  and it was all a misunderstanding.

Fans Think Lil Yachty Unfollowed Drake Amid Drama Over Leaked Collaboration

Lil Yachty and Drake have been good friends for a long time, but fans believe a discrepancy over a song may have sparked a rift between both artists.

It all began earlier this week when Akademiks told his followers that Drake plans to release the song "S.O.D (Super Soak)." The media personality also claimed Drizzy will drop a music video for the track and reportedly played a clip of the visuals during his live stream. According to Ak, the song will arrive with one major update — Lil Boat won't be on it. Fans believe the news upset Yachty enough to unfollow The Boy on Instagram.

The alleged update shocked fans as well. Lil Yachty reportedly brought the song to Drake and intended to put it on the Concrete Boys' recent album. Their collaboration contains a sample of "Goodness Gracious" by Mr. HotSpot, who unfortunately prevented them from releasing it due to the explicit language in the song. Mr. HotSpot eventually told the duo they could use his song if they cleaned up their verses.

Before the sample was cleared, Yachty decided to leak the song to streamer Kai Cenat. At first, Soulja Boy thought it was Drake's way of responding to his X rant about him , but he cleared things up with Drizzy and claimed it wasn't supposed to drop at all.

Fans realized Yachty unfollowed Drake after news about the updated song went viral. It's not clear if he'll address the situation online. Yachty recently claimed he was done with social media after he confirmed Karrahbooo's departure from Concrete Boys . After fans called him out, Yachty returned to Instagram to re-follow Drake, and this time it was no accident. Check out the receipts below.

The three tracks arrive a few weeks after the rapper dropped a massive folder on 100gigs.org of unreleased music, behind-the-scenes footage, tour set designs and clips from the studio. Among the files were another trio of songs — “It’s Up” featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage, “Blue Green Red” and “Housekeeping Knows” featuring Latto — that he also debuted on his IG burner before officially releasing them to DSPs a few days later.

Lil Yachty and Drake

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s high-profile exchange might have cooled off since the “Not Like Us” video dropped, but it’s still a hot topic among Hip Hop fans and the pair’s frequent collaborators. On Wednesday (July 31), Lil Yachty appeared on Andrew Schulz’s “Flagrant” podcast, during which he was asked about the beef.

“I think people are just hating on Drake because he’s the guy,” the Teenage Emotions rapper said. He then referenced a now-archived episode of the “A Safe Place” podcast in which he gave his detailed thoughts on being named-dropped in Lamar’s “euphoria.”

“I wish I had never [spoken] on it. I wish I hadn’t said any part about it,” Lil Yachty told the hosts. Regarding the incident where he liked a tweet about Lamar allegedly cheating on his wife, the musician claimed, “That really was an accident.”

Schulz circled back to the topic later in the discussion, noting that Drake’s music still dominates at parties and clubs. the Georgia native responded, “Outside of the people who care about Hip Hop, [nobody gives a f**k] at all.”

Lil Yachty also commented on the OVO Sound founder’s attitude during the spat: “He really didn’t give a f**k. He was unfazed . I respect it a lot and I talked to him. That s**t didn’t bother him.” He continued, “I never saw him down ever. I never saw kicking his f**king foot [or] holding his head down. [It got] to a point where I just stopped talking to him about it because I felt like I was the one bringing him the negativity.”

On the “ A Safe Place ” podcast in May, the Quality Control Music signee initially said that Drake was “deemed a loser in this battle before it started,” mainly because he isn’t well-liked by some. He also mentioned that even if Lamar came out ahead in public opinion, the Toronto native come out on top in the long run.

Lil Yachty

Lil Yachty has developed a close bond with Drake over the last few years, and he’s had a front-row seat to the 6 God’s recent career moves as a collaborator.

While Yachty still kept in contact with Drake, he was actually overseas in Europe when the battle with Kendrick was reaching its peak.

“I never saw him down. I never saw him kicking his f—ing foot holding his head down, to the point where I stopped talking to him about it because I felt like I was the one bringing him the negativity,” Yachty continued around the 1:36 mark.

He continued: “I was bringing the cloud when I’d be like, ‘Man, I hate that this person said this.’ I was showing him sh– he hasn’t seen. Then I realized I’m bringing you the negativity, let me stop. I just realized his energy wasn’t down, so I wasn’t going to try [to bring him down].”

Earlier in the episode, Yachty and the co-hosts debated why a contingent of hip-hop fans were “energized about the elimination of Drake,” as Ye put it in April.

The “Minnesota” rapper hypothesized that people had Drake fatigue and were tired of seeing him winning and dominating the rap game for over a decade.

“I think people just hate on Drake because he’s the guy,” he speculated. “It’s also because he f—ed everyone’s bi–h. He’s also that guy, though. All the records, all the numbers. He’s the one.”

However, Lil Yachty regretted inserting himself into the commentary surrounding the beef. “I just wish I had never spoke on it,” he admitted.

Kendrick Lamar actually name-dropped the Atlanta native to jab at Drake on the scathing “Euphoria.” “Yachty can’t give you no swag neither, I don’t give a f— ’bout who you hang with,” Lamar raps on the diss track.

“Look, our culture loves to see you go up because it’s confirmation that they can go up,” he told The Hollywood Reporter . “But when you stay up — ‘I want this sh– forever, man’ — they go, ‘Well, goddamn. When you going to come down? If you don’t come down, I ain’t going to have my chance to go up.’ And then it’s these clouds that come over you, and that cloud is doubt, a shadow of doubt that doesn’t come from material or your work ethic.”

50 continued: “It’s doubt from the artist community, where they say, ‘I don’t know, his new sh– is cool, but it’s not his first sh–.’ They do that to you and Drake’s just experiencing what you experience as a backlash from success, from the consistency he’s delivered over and over. I don’t see a loss for Drake. The people who bought Drake material are going to buy Drake material when his next song comes out.”

Drake and Kendrick Lamar exchanged diss tracks from April into early May. Billboard hailed K. Dot as the victor, and he’s gotten the last laugh with his “Not Like Us” diss dominating the Billboard Hot 100 , where it stands at No. 3 on this week’s chart after spending two nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1.

Listen to the full podcast below. The pair of Drake segments take place around the 51-minute and 1:33 marks.

Drake Drops Three New Tracks on His Finsta

Something’s brewing on @plottttwistttttt..

Drake Drops Three New Tracks on His Finsta “Circadian Rhythm,” “SOD” and “No Face” featuring Playboi Carti @ plottttwistttttt

Over the weekend, Drake fans were treated to three new songs. The Boy surprise released three tracks on his Finsta @plottttwistttttt including “Circadian Rhythm,” “SOD” and “No Face” featuring Playboy Carti .

With the Kendrick Lamar beef taking over the summer this year, Drake appears ready to move on and focus on the music. While it is uncertain when the tracks were recorded, some fans may remember streamer Kai Cenat previewing “SOD” as “Supersoak,” which initially featured a verse from Lil Yachty . With Yachty’s verse, he tried to clear a sample from Mr. HotSpot but was unsuccessful, causing his verse to be completely removed from the track. Fans with a keen eye have also suspected that there might be a feud brewing between Drake and Yachty after they noticed Yachty no longer follows Drake.

Karrahboo Shades Lil Yachty During Latest Concert

2024 Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash Festival

Karrahboo addressed Lil Yachty 's recent comments during a performance at her latest show on Saturday. The Concrete Boys founder had accused Karrahboo of being verbally abusive and claimed to have written all of her music during a fiery livestream, earlier this week. While performing on stage, she shouted out, “Who ain’t write it… who ain’t write it," several times over as the song played.

As the clip circulated on social media, fans had mixed responses to the feud. Many on X (formerly Twitter) joked about how small the crowd for Karrahboo's show was. "Wow all 10 ppl got to hear what she said abt yachty at her show," one user remarked. Another wrote: "She should be ashamed of herself. We literally saw boat’s voice recordings."

I dressed five n****s every time we stepped out the house, I put an outfit on everybody, I put eight carats of earrings on everybody ear, I put three chains on all y'all neck. We bought a Cartier watch. I gave you that chrome Rolex, bro. You was waiting tables… What are we talking about n***a? I changed your mother f*cking life and you are here lying, talking about some: 'We bully you'… That sh*t got me f*cked up, bro. You got me f*cked up, bro, you disrespectful, bro. You talk to people crazy, you tell people that they are nothing, you tell people you're going to spit on them, you tell people they poor and you talk to my f*cking label crazy, you claim I was stealing money…"

Karrahboo Responds To Lil Yachty

He also leaked an apparent reference track he made for her Rap Radar  appearance. Karrahboo wasn't the only person Yachty went after. He was also furious with his  A Safe Place  podcast co-host Mitch. Be on the lookout for further updates on Karrahboo and Lil Yachty on HotNewHipHop .
