Invincible 33 Catamaran: 2022 Boat Buyers Guide
- December 17, 2021
There are many ways to describe a boat, but Invincible has settled upon one word that embodies grace, strength, agility and more: athletic.
“The fact is,” the company says proudly, “no one today builds a more athletic fishing machine.”
Invincible introduced its now-classic center-console Invincible 36 in 2006, built on the patented Stepped-Vee Ventilated Tunnel design from naval architect Michael Peters. Invincible’s monohull boats still ride on that distinctive hull design.
Next, Invincible partnered with multihull specialist Morrelli & Melvin Design to create a center-console catamaran line whose patented hybrid, semi-asymmetrical design leads the industry in ride, handling and speed. The boat’s fishability is enriched by its single-level deck and ability to gaff a fish from the bow.
Invincible 33 Catamaran
Invincible’s smallest cat—with siblings to 46 feet—takes the performance, versatility and amenities of those larger boats and packages them in a powerful, agile and nimble new one: what the company calls “a whole new size of serious.”
Atop the patented catamaran hull, a single-level deck offers 360-degree walk-around fishability. Within the deck is generous storage and insulated fish boxes and livewells; another livewell is in the transom, among other options.
A high-speed pickup is ready to serve an optional sea chest. The deluxe console has ample space for battlewagon-style electronics, and is lined and lighted within to offer space for a full-size head. Match your fishing style with a custom top: a hardtop or folding tower with a dual station, plus a buggy-style hardtop and/or crow’s-nest. Rupp or Gem outriggers are options, as are additional rod holders, electric-reel outlets, LED spreader lights, and seating additions and upgrades including custom Llebroc helm chairs.
For power, choose from twin Yamaha 300s or Mercury Verado or Racing outboards.
Manufacturer’s Remark
With the size making it easy to trailer, this was purpose-built for customers interested in big-cat performance to align with their size needs.

Invincible Announces New 33’ Catamaran Model
With dedicated twin-outboard power, the 33’ will be invincible’s fifth catamaran model offered and tenth model overall. hull no. 1 is expected to be completed by spring 2021., wednesday, september 30, 2020 (miami, fl):.
Invincible, the premium saltwater sport fishing and high-performance boat brand, unveiled its most highly-anticipated model yet: the 33’ Catamaran . With industry demand the highest it has been in over a decade, Invincible leadership felt the time was right to fill out its catamaran lineup to match its selection of monohulls.
“Our brand is focused on the serious saltwater sport fisherman and as such we believe that the most effective size range to chase trophy fish is 33-49 feet,” CEO John Dorton said. “With the launch of our new 33’ Catamaran, we officially have the largest model offering in this segment. No matter how or where you fish, we have a model for you.”
Each catamaran model utilizes the patented hybrid semi-asymmetrical multihull design created by Morrelli & Melvin exclusively for Invincible. Based in Newport Beach, California, Morrelli & Melvin are the leading authority in multihull designs given their extensive involvement in the America’s Cup and Olympic competition. Their decades of competitive experience and investment in computational fluid dynamics results in the trademark qualities of Invincible’s catamarans: a boat that does not lean outward in a turn and can handle all conditions without the assistance of negative trim nor ballast.
“A dedicated twin-outboard platform is something we’ve been excited to work on with Invincible for a while now,” Pete Melvin of Morrelli & Melvin said. “The versatility of the smaller platform with more storage space than your traditional monohull should prove to be popular for the customer looking to make the jump to a cat.”

Invincible 33 Catamaran Review
Let's take a closer look at the invincible 33 catamaran in this boat review.
The Morelli and Melvin designed hulls each Invincible catamaran features takes comfort and efficiency to the next level.
If I were trying to sell the performance or demonstrate to someone who’d never ridden on a power catamaran fishing boat how well they handled rough weather- jumping on any of the Invincible Cats would be a great first step. After being blown away by the 37 Invincible Cat last year, the 33 had its work cut out for it. My first concern was “could Invincible build one small enough to run great with only twin power that would also stand up to offshore weather of any consequence?” The short and long answer is, absolutely.
The 33 Catamaran proved to be another Morrelli and Melvin hull design that delivers a smooth, dry, and remarkably solid ride in real world offshore weather. Each of these models are laid out similarly and the new 33 Cat is a scaled down version of each of her bigger sisters. The difference is how much roomier this 33-foot boat feels due to her wise use of every inch of over 300 square feet of work space. A quick 360-degree spin around the single level deck reveals four extra-large insulated fish holds underfoot in the bow and amidships. A pair of large livewells (up to 70-gallons) are in the transom and below deck to starboard, each supplied via sea chest and outfitted with primary and spare pumps.
Plenty of tackle storage is available hidden behind the mezzanine seat back on the helm station as well as on both sides of the helm box and within the transom bulkhead to port. A large drink cooler is also below the mezzanine seat. For rod storage, there isn’t a location on board where you won’t find a rod holder on either side of you within arm’s reach. The helm is enclosed on three sides in glass with a triple wide seat facing a centered helm control. A pair of 400 Mercury engines pushed the 33 into the 60 MPH range with ease.
For any remaining dyed in the wool old school non-believers who are on the fence regarding the roominess, comfort, performance and ride that a perfectly designed catamaran offers, a ride on the Invincible 33 will without a doubt push you over the edge.

2024 Invincible 33 Catamaran
- By Boating Tech Team
- December 13, 2023
Invincible’s 33 Catamaran has proven to be a hit. It’s not at all surprising considering its smooth, responsive handling. A hybrid semi-asymmetrical hull designed by Morrelli and Melvin applies the best characteristics of an asymmetrical catamaran with soft-riding symmetrical cat sponsons. The boat makes sharp turns without awkward outboard heeling. Even in quartering seas, the sponsons stand firm in the slop; in fact, the nastier the weather, the better the double-step hull works.
The helm station offers three-wide seating with a centered wheel. The leaning-post seat is comfortable for sitting or leaning. A step below the helm adds comfort while standing or seated. The station itself offers massive room for dual 20-inch (or larger) screens and, in our case, a 9-inch VesselView display, an Icom VHF radio and a Fusion stereo controller. The hardtop stretches wide and aft of the leaning post, keeping the helm glare-free and shaded.
The fighting cockpit is impressively spacious, taking full advantage of the 10-foot-3-inch beam. An oval livewell with a clear acrylic lid in the transom is 65 gallons, pressurized, and fed from a sea chest with three pumps in the starboard sponson. To port of this livewell is a pair of drawers ideal for tackle, rope, or wash and wax supplies. There’s also a larger 65-gallon livewell below the sole.
The mezzanine seat (back of the leaning post) is triple-wide, with the seating angle designed to lean back even when the boat is on plane. Tackle storage is conveniently accessed behind the drop-down seatback and in the sides of the leaning post.
Four fish boxes and a coffin box ahead of the center console offer plenty of fish storage, and they pump out with durable gulper pumps instead of temperamental macerators.
A dual lounge forward of the helm features thick cushions, deep bolsters, armrests and handy cup holders. Invincible’s great ride delivers comfort during casual outings, and the spacious deck makes it a formidable fishing machine. Add new V-10 power options and the excitement is palpable.

- Mercury outboard options include dual Verados, 450Rs and V-10 400s.

Invincible 33 Catamaran First Glance
- By Chris Woodward
- Updated: October 29, 2020
Invincible Boats has added to its stable of catamaran vessels with the new 33. The company also just unveiled a new 46 at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show on Oct. 28. The two new models join already popular 35-, 37- and 40-footers.
“Our brand is focused on the serious saltwater sport fisherman, and as such, we believe that the most effective size range to chase trophy fish is 33 to 49 feet,” CEO John Dorton says. “With the launch of our new 33-foot catamaran, we officially have the largest model offering in this segment. No matter how or where you fish, we have a model for you.”
RELATED: Invincible 35 Catamaran First Glance
All of Invincible’s catamarans use the same patented hybrid semi-asymmetrical multihull, which was created by Morrelli & Melvin — designers of America’s Cup and Olympic competition cats.
The 33 is technically just an inch shy of 34 feet in length overall. Its beam measures 10 feet 3 inches — on multihulls, the boat’s beam essentially carries from transom to bow. The new cat features two livewells, one on the centerline in the transom and one belowdecks to starboard of the mezzanine seating, four fish boxes, and additional storage in the bow.
The twin-outboard platform carries up to 900 hp and 400 gallons of fuel.

Marsaudon Composites ORC50
Racing or Cruising? Maybe both. The Marsaudon Composites ORC50 (formerly the TS5 before the launch of their new brand: Ocean Rider Catamarans) sits at the very head of the performance cruising catamaran category, well proven as a racing machine at St Barths and appreciated as a world cruiser. Designed by fast cats supremo Christophe Barreau (who has a whole range of fast Catana Catamarans and a few Outremers in his design archive), they are among the fastest livable multihulls in the world (capable of 350+ miles a day). If you want to make that step up on performance, this cat should be on your shopping list.

A Cheetah The profile is muscular and sporty, with long, mean straight bows that instantly say “racing catamaran”. The angular coachroof gives owners plenty of space and panoramic allround views. With the coachroof set back, a high freeboard, and big inverted bows, she cuts through the sea quickly. Add a powerful 20m Lorima rotating carbon mast and sail plan and you begin to understand how she achieves such high speeds. I can only think of one other boat to take her on in an offshore race. Read our Dazcat 1495 review for more information on that one!
- These boats are fast! They are among the fastest liveable multihulls in the world right now.
- The ORC50 or TS5 has more living space than the TS42. It´s the bigger sister.
- She is a very striking looking catamaran – she looks mean and a real speed machine even at anchor.
- The views in the salon are panoramic.
- There has been an almost maniacal attention to weight saving on this boat. She is light and accelerates quickly.
- There are many custom options available – use of carbon in the bulkheads, forward beam, compression beam and mast for example, the rotating mast.
- Those overhang seats and tillers aft give you the full sailing adrenaline rush. And you thought you were letting it all hang out o an Outremer bucket seat?!
- These are technical boats to sail and will only suit experienced sailors.
- Even the non sailors onboard are likely to feel intimidated by the power and speed of this yacht.
- The interiors of these boats are pretty spartan – it´s all about weight saving inside. She has her charm, but don´t expect to feel cosy.
- The underwater hull of the ORC50 is shaped for speed with slim, taut lines designed to reduce the wetted surface- so that means less living space, particularly down below in the hulls.
Strong and Light
ORC50s are stiff, light machines that have been designed to get you places fast. They are pretty minimalist inside, but if you want a fast cruising cat which you can win the occasional race on, this boat is hard to catch on most points of sail if she is handled well. The weight clocks in at around 9 and a half tonnes – pretty impressive for a boat this size with such a powerful sail plan. That gives you an SA/D ratio up in the mid 30s, which is well into Gunboat territory. If you add all the carbon options on you´ll be able to reduce the weight by another tonne, but that requires deeper pockets.
Built for Speed Marsaudon Composites, from Lorient in Brittany, have quite a reputation in the offshore cruising and racing world. The ORC50 (TS5) is built using an infusion process in a female foam-glass-poly/vinylester sandwich mold, and carbon structural elements can be added to suit the owner´s requirments. So the aft beam and main bulkhead can be made in carbon as can the forward beam and the compression beam, for example.
Simplicity Rules
The galley is L-shaped, with plenty of storage space. There´s a large L-shaped dining area that sits 6-8 people and a decent nav station. The general feeling is of a light, functional space that gives you the comfort you need without the weight.
The dining table in the Saloon is designed to be mobile and can slot out of its mountings and slot in to similar ones in the cockpit… thus saving the weight of a table aboard.
When we originally wrote this review, we had assumed that there was no table in the aft cockpit, but Marsaudon have corrected us on this point. I guess you can go for 2 tables if you are happy to carry the extra.
We love the skylight and down below you can choose between the 3 cabin owner´s version or the 4-cabin version which are home to pleasant, bright and wide spaces in the sleek hulls. The bunks measure 200 x 160 and the decor is warmer down here with wood-effect headlining panels. The big aft facing windows in the back cabins will grab your attention.
The heads and shower area is pretty cosy though!
The furniture is all foam cored to save weight.
On the Water
If you have chosen some of the sportier options, this boat will fly. Well, it´ll fly without some of the sportier options, it´s just a case of the level of speed that you require. 25 knots in 28 knots of wind? It´s been done. 30 knots? In the right conditions, yes. The bottom line is that she´ll comfortably sit in the high teens and low 20s in the right conditions.
She Points High The ORC 50 comes loaded with daggerboards, so you´ll be beating into the wind at speed while minimising your leeway. The bucket seats, tiller steering option and big daggerboards are all geared up for people who love the thrill of sailing at speed.
This boat is all about fun on the water: sitting in those bucket seats on the windward side, over the side of the hull with the carbon tiller in hand flying along will give you a real buzz.
The speed log should frequently hit numbers very close to true wind speed and you´ll be sailing up to 30 to apparent, and she can pinch even further.
This speed machine won´t suit everyone of course- it´s designed for experienced sailors who want maximum fun out on the water and who want to reach their destination fast. She´s pretty minimalist (there is no table in the cockpit for example), but if it´s a super-charged, finely balanced, seaworthy catamaran you´re after, this could be it.
Where is the Marsaudon Composites ORC50 (TS5) made? The company is based in L´Orient in Brittany, France, in the old submarine base.
Why is the company called Marsaudon Composites? The company was started in 1999 by Samuel Marsaudon. The composites refers to their skill in producing strong lightweight structures for racing and their production cats.
What Boats are they Famous For? Marsaudon are behind IDEC 2, the holder of the Single handed Around the World record, and Prince de Bretagne, winner of the Route du Rhum 2010 in the 50’ class.
How much are Marsaudon Composites ORC50s (TS5s)? What´s their price? Dependent on options, but these boats are pretty good value for money for this type of yacht: approximately €650k before tax. Options include: rotating carbon mast with fiber rigging: 80k, fiber standing rigging for aluminum mast: 10k, carbon cross (forward beam and compression beam): 28k, mast bulkhead and aft beam in carbon: 20k, carbon daggerboards: 12k, electronics pack: 18k, 4x160W solar panels + davits: 10k, watermaker: 14k, deck hardware for gennaker: 4k.
There are plenty of other options of course! As with all boats, good luck on sticking to the standard configuration when they start tempting you with all of the extras 😉

The 33 Catamaran serves up a smooth ride. Garrett Cortese. The Invincible's hybrid semi-asymmetrical hull applies the best characteristics of an asymmetrical catamaran with the soft-riding symmetrical cats. The result is a boat that makes sharp turns without awkward outboard heeling. Even in quartering seas, the sponsons stand firm in the slop.
